Fire Branded Leather: Life on the Wild Side
#9 of Fire Branded Leather
Will has enough in his life to be happy. A stable job as assistant fire chief, good friends, and enough money to keep his food bowl full. What more could a dog ask for? Expect perhaps someone warm on those cold Vancouver nights.
It all came from an ad in the newspaper, "Are you willing?" He was.
Fires are breaking out all over the city and Will is run ragged. His days are soot stained as he fights to keep the city from burning to the ground and his nights reek of sweat and blood as he learns the ways of a new passion.
The flames burn higher as Will discovers there is more to this life then being a dutiful mutt who follows the orders of his superiors.
And then she places a collar on him.

Chapter 9: Life on the Wild Side
It was well past midnight by the time Will fell face first into his bed. He never even bothered to pull the shirt from his back.
When next he opened his eyes there was a glimmer of light on the distant horizon.
Something was... right.
He blinked. Huh?
Taking a deep breath, his heart was calm. He knew there were riots outside, he knew people were dying. He knew the city was burning.
But there was something right.
"Good morning, my pet," a voice whispered.
Will smiled as he felt a soft hand run down his naked chest. Where his clothing had gone he'd no idea.
"Good morning, Mistress," he said, voice stronger than he expected.
Sitting up, his eyes slowly focused on her. She lay in bed beside him, as naked as he.
For just a moment Will puzzled over the thought. Thousands walked about the city streets fur out, but there was something fundamentally different between being without clothes and being naked.
Her hand slid down to close between his legs. Will let out a soft moan as she claimed what was hers.
"William," she whispered, "You need to know."
He cocked his head. "Know what, Mistress?"
She leaned down, her tongue slipping in to lick his ear. "You swore last we met that you would devote yourself to me."
He knew he should feel a sliver of fear at her words. He knew they were no idle boast. There was something in him that told him there was more to it.
"You swore, William," she whispered, "And you'll be held to that oath. The day may never come that you need to stand up to the forces arrayed against the city, but..." She looked out the window. Will couldn't see the city from where he sat, but he had a good idea what she saw. "If they aren't here yet, this sign of weakness will call them as blood in the water does sharks."
"What's coming to my city?" Deep in his gut Will felt something roll. Nearly as deep as his devotion to Anne, this was his city. There was too much chaos much already. He couldn't let the fragile backbone of civilization snap.
"Free will is less than you think it is, my pet." A smile slipped to her lips as she leaned in to kiss him on the nose. "It is the most precious gift we have, but it is so fragile, so easily... corrupted." She paused, taking a deep breath. "We've all made mistakes. I've made my own. I've done many things in my years that I'm not proud of. But you, my pet... you are the last in a long line. And you are the first to come willingly, to be proud of what you are."
