Chapter Two: Guns of the Patriots, Part Two

“What the hell is going on, what the hell have you gotten me into?” Isaac asked as he looked around, standing on the train in the desert. In front of him the town of Truckee, California, the desert ending and the train chugging up the side of the Sierra Nevadas. Isaac stood still, the wind flapping through his hair as he turned back to the temporal agent with him.

“I don’t know what we got ourselves into but I know there is a massive temporal disturbance ahead in that town and we have it on ourselves to investigate. If this involves the military then we need to stop them, remember what they just did to your town.” Maryam Edison spoke with the side of data on her side, and Isaac looked over to the radioactive remains of his town.

“Fine then, but we go at my pace. I don’t know about this, I need to get Finn somewhere on ice, so I can save him.” Isaac spoke, his hand resting on the duffle bag strap around his chest. He breathed slower as he calmed down, the train slowing down as well.

His ears perked, the shark realized the train was slowing down.

“Fine then, but why do you need to save Finn if he is dead, what can you do to him to bring him back. What do you want to do to his body?” Edison asked over the screeching sound of the wheels below her.

“I don’t need to save Finn, I just need to… Well its complicated but I think I might have figured out a problem that scientists have been confounded on for years and this might just work.” Isaac spoke and then the walls of the city approached, casting a shadow down from the moon onto the two.

“Get down into the boxcar, that way we can avoid being seen!” Edison added as she kicked forward and a hatch opened up. She grabbed the hatch and ducked down, Isaac putting the duffle bag down and stuffing his leg down the hole, as he shimmied down into metal container, reaching up with his hand and clinching on to the bag and pulling it down with him.

“Okay, so we are in here but this still is a stupid plan, what if this box car is searched?” Edison asked but Isaac had a smirk on his face. “But you already have one and won’t tell me because that would ruin the surprise wouldn’t it.”

“Bingo.” Isaac added, walking to his left, the shark placed his hand on the ridged wall and leaned his head on it. HIs ear pressing up on the wall and his hand holding still on it. “I don’t think there is anyone else in here and all the waves I am sending out are giving me nothing on any people or weirder cargo.”

“Well then what the hell is this place for, the military is obviously behind this and they couldn’t just be doing this for shits and giggles could they?” Edison added as she looked around, taking her scanner out and placing it against the wall. “Now I am getting a base line reading on temporal anomalies.”

“How weird, but I suppose that you haven’t already checked to remove me from that equation. My involvement with Tidus would surely overshadow all other readings around me.” Isaac added and Edison smiled snapping her finger as she turned to her left, facing Isaac and pressing a button on the tablet.

“Good idea, now then I don’t suppose you could fire that gravity wave out in a different direction and get a picture of this place in your head?” Edison added as she placed the tablet on the ground and the anomalies flooded in. Her eyes smiled watching all the deviations appear. “I don’t know, but something here is big or something coming here is big.”

“Interesting but what does that have to do with the military, why would they have something like that.” Isaac put his hand on the wall and fired out a wave of gravity, he felt objects bend and weave to the slight push from his hand. And he got a picture of a town surrounded by new metal buildings.

And then their transportation came to a stop, Isaac wobbling as the brakes held the train on the track. And then from the outside, grunting and talking. Isaac ran towards the door, grabbing Edison. And then he put his hands forward.

The door sild open and the two were instantly hidden as Isaac, bent light around him and the agent before him.

“So then, Dustin, they think that this plan is going to work, that we will magically do this without attracting any attention from the people of this state?” One of the Soldiers spoke as he walked forward, the soldier named Dustin, holding a large weapon that Isaac would rather not be on the end of.

“No, Ronan, this is Marital Law, the president has given us the ability to do what we must in order to do what we will best think restores order. This boxcar is clear!” Dustin yelled out as he turned around and raised his hand waving it and sending another wave of men to the next car.

“But sir this is my livelihood you can’t just send me away!” Isaac turned his head, the two agents leaving the car but keeping the door open. The two walked over and it appeared that more soldiers were guiding a group of people, in fact it appeared to be a line of people into a queue.

“Oh yes we can sir, this is Martial Law and this land is valuable, if we want to stop this war then we need to have Truckee, California.” One of the soldiers spoke, jabbing his weapon into the old man’s back to keep him moving along.

“You keep using that word but I don’t think you know what it means.” The old man protested as he kept the front of the line back. The soldier getting inpatient as he kept pushing the man along. And then the man fell to the ground, his clothes getting covered in dirt.

Clouds were gathering above the town, Isaac looked up and saw the rumbling of the wind. He looked back at Edison and the two stepped out, Isaac spread out his hands and spread the cloak of invisibility around them. So, the two kept close to the boxcar as they turned their head and saw an exit point, a door into an empty building.

“We get in there and shut this operation down.” Isaac conveyed as he nodded at Edison who nodded back. The two slowly sidled along, taking slow steps and keeping their eyes on the pace of the man as he walked towards the train, some women, maybe his daughter, helping him along.

“You won’t get away with this, when all of this is over and the dust clears, history will paint you as horrible people and I hope you know that you are all going to rot in hell for this!” The old man protested as the soldier smiled.

“Well then you just made my day, old man, I have been waiting for a reason to use this. This is force against a US officer of law and sanity, let’s see how sanity does against your senile mind.” And then the soldier reached back, grabbing a large gun. Two metallic barrels at the end cut off. And then reaching into his pocket, he grabbed two bullets.

Isaac raised his hand and as they sidled to the edge of the building, he just increased the weight of the bullets a bit. Holding his hand forward, he knew that the cloak would be fading. Artifacts appearing and their disguise being torn apart, but as the soldier held the bullet in his hand, one fell to the ground.

“Well then let’s see what one of these do.” The soldier yelled and the old man simpered, the bullet quickly going into the case and closing up as he aimed it forward and then pulled the trigger. Instantly the old man was blasted up into the air and landed against the wall nearest him.

He grunted and died instantly, Isaac and Edison both realizing that they could have done nothing for that man. And with the distraction of the guards and the prisoners, he quickly opened the door and slid in, Edison following suit and sinking in with him.

“Okay, make sure no one can tell we are in here, there should be a computer in here and your tablet should be able to access some sort of information from it, I can hope.” Isaac spoke, walking along the countered wall and grabbing the curtains pulling them shut and darkening the room.

“No one knows we are in here and no one knows who we are.” Isaac demanded of Edison as she walked over to the main terminal and placed the tablet down on the counter. Isaac shut the whole of the curtains in the room and hit a light switch, above him incandescent blubs activating and shining their light onto the room.

Isaac held the duffle bag close to him and looked over to Edison as she typed on the computer. He could hack it but, well, he held onto Finn’s duffle bag a bit tighter. Taking it off, the shark leaned back on the counter and looked up to the office space like zone.

“God Finn it’s so strange in this world without you here to encourage me, I feel like half of the man that I was with you.” Isaac leaned back and a tear ran down his eye as he remembered the moment in battle when it happened, when Finn was taken from him, his love rippled from this world and thrown into the next.

“I wanted to protect you, I truly did but my powers were taken away from me and I couldn’t do anything.” Isaac looked over to the duffle bag and put his hand on it, the heat coming off from it was like the last bits of Finn’s life exiting from it. It sort of horrified him on how much, how much he did think of Finn.

“I failed you Finn, I didn’t protect you. I should have none that you would be the savior to this world and that you needed to be protected but I failed and now I feel like I did right before, in the same place I feel like nothing now.” Isaac looked up and wiped the tears away from his face.

“Did Finn make you feel like nothing that you had to protect him or was that why you always lashed out, when Finn was around you felt like you were a lesser version of him?” Edison asked from the computer, she hit a very delicate nerve on Isaac. The shark finding himself confused as he tried to forget that.

“No, Finn made me feel like everything. I was when he didn’t notice me that I felt like nothing, I lashed out because of that.” Isaac added, his mind turning nostalgic for days only a yesterday ago. And what he would do to have a time machine, he could probably have built one but he was so stupid to not even think of it.

“Listen people die all the time and I see all deaths in all timelines, yesterday in another timeline three people named Justin died and in the other next to it, six Justins died.” Edison spoke trying to make a point of it all.

“I know but death is so painful sometimes, how do you deal with it all. All the information on all the timelines?” Isaac looked over, trying to understand the human better on what she knew.

“You don’t, I Maryam Edison am an empty shell of a human and I am what happens when you learn to much. All the sarcasm and all the introverted feelings that I display is my way of dealing with this world.” She spoke and Isaac looked back up, there was another gun shot.

“I think I might be at that point as well, to think yesterday I would have done something about that gunshot but the death of a million in your own city sort of just makes the whole death thing seem so normal.” Isaac spoke and Maryam laughed a bit.

“Well then I think I am close to some sort of information…” She spoke and her eyes opened up. “Isaac come here I got some data you need to see, this is important.”

“What do you mean?” Isaac stood up and looked up at the monitor, his eyes saw the words on the screen and when he took them in he told himself that wouldn’t be what was happening. That was impossible, so stepping forward he looked at Maryam.

“Read here.” She pointed and the two brought their attention to the line. “As Marital Law is declared, we the military have decided to show a few groups that have not been as productive in their methods the true end that they have given to this Earth.”

“From this point on, the organization known as the Outsiders will be considered enemies of the state and all activates they take place in may be considered illegal depending on the context.” The declaration read out, Isaac and Edison taking the information in.

“Hey who the hell are you!” And then Isaac turned around, a soldier with an automatic weapon in his hand. Quickly the door shut behind him as Isaac turned around and held his hand up.

“Why we are the Outsiders, haven’t you heard of us?” Isaac spoke sly as he walked forward, the man being pushed by gravity up on the door, his weapon’s barrel bending as Isaac compressed the gravity in front of him and pushed him up on the door.

“No, no, you can’t do this to me, I won’t let you!” The soldier screamed as he held himself up on the door, his legs tumbling on the door. Isaac then slammed him down on the ground, his entire body falling on the ground and being pushed.

Isaac walked past the computers and desktops as he pointed his hand down, and held the man still. The floor shook as it tried to give way but Isaac let his force go and simply returned his hands to his side. The soldier stood up and holding the piece of metal in his hand, pulled down on the trigger.

“Oh sorry, I don’t think you have heard of us because we are the Outsiders and we have done a lot more about this war then you peacocks have done about it in your life time and if you think that this is the beginning of some sort of rivalry I will make sure that you feel the most pain in all of the universe.” Isaac bragged as he held his hand forward and grabbed the man, this time only pushing against his throat.

And then he let his finger slip, the man’s neck collapsed with an audible snap and his body fell to the ground. Isaac turned around and relaxed, walking up to the door and closing it. Then a rumbling, the floor shaking. Isaac stood still, what was it some sort of beast.

The shark’s ears felt deafness as a massive whistle blasted into Isaac’s ears, both agents holding their ears as it entered their ears and passed by. And as the train passed by, Isaac walked over to the curtain and opened it, looking out into the moon lit light.

“No one is out there; I think we can scout. Download those files and then we can get going to beat these fools.” Isaac turned and unlocked the admin door, walking out and the cold wind blowing against him. The town was truly surrounded by the wall and he could tell so, and then a shaking noise.

“I don’t think that was a train.” Edison commented as in the distance she heard the sound of screaming. Men were being torn to pieces and then the sound of collapse, Isaac looked around and felt something nearby, a large energy, something massive this way comes.

Sweat ran down his face and the shark looked in all direction for the source, it was coming for him or it was coming for something. And then to his side, he heard a building collapse. As flames flew into the sky, a massive shadow ran forward.

Some sort of beast, it ran forward and charged at the train station. It tore up the tracks, Isaac backed up. It was on four legs and it was huge, massive almost, he put his hand out and started to take a few steps back. Edison held up the tablet and scanned it.

“I don’t think you need to scan that Edison.”

“Why?” She asked.

“Because I’ve seen that face before and that is a face you don’t forget, that is Elijah and he has turned into a monster!” Isaac watched as the beast, four legs, muscular, horns on its head. Yellow lines running over its black body, black as it was one color, no shading. His head was as big as a box car and his entire body trumped the size of the wall.

The beast roared into the air and the ground shook as it blasted it hoof on the ground. The shark quickly took action, throwing his hands forward and sending out a wave of repelling gravity. Isaac held himself as the victor as Elijah started to wobble, turning towards them but his knees buckling.

“Yes you stupid oaf, this is a battle you do not want to fight anytime soon because we are the Outsiders and I will stop you!” Isaac declared and he looked over to Edison, who seemingly disagreed with that statement. The shark held his hands forward and held his best face as he roared. The temporal agent stepped back as Isaac held his hands still.

And then the base started to shake, Isaac’s hair blowing as a wind blasted on the shark. His ears twitched as he heard the sound of something approaching, his powers buckled as he pushed himself and Edison into the doorway. Elijah was free but as the beast stood there, two explosions engulfed him. The beast roaring into the air as fire engulfed him.

“Get down stay quiet!” Isaac commanded as he took a few more steps down, reducing his height and standing on his knees. Elijah roared as a flurry of missiles were fired to him, the explosions rocking the building and the base. Dirt flew up into the air and as thirty or so missiles approached, the beast turned towards them.

Elijah opened his mouth and a shockwave blasted out, a beam of transparent energy hit the missiles. They came to a stop and Elijah dug his massive feet into the ground, it was a battle two helicopters approaching and firing more missiles from their launchers.

“What the hell is happening here!” Maryam screamed as flashes of lights filled the courtyard in front of her. Elijah was overwhelmed and the beast made a run for it, quickly he turned around and made a dash through the next set of buildings. The missiles indiscriminately continued on their path, fire continuing out of their blasters.

And as the beast, Elijah crushed the buildings in his path leaving crumbled debris, the military worked to erase his work, a line of fire rising up from the ground as the missiles feel into the ground. The ones fired earlier running out of rocket fuel and dropping into the ground.

And the line of fire followed Elijah as he made a run for the next wall, Isaac stood up as two helicopters passed by flying towards the beast and starting their Gatling guns. A line of bullets chased the beast as well but it was too late they flew off in all directions as an energy shield formed around the Riftwalker.

And Elijah charged, ramming himself into the wall and crushing it in one fell swoop. A layer of dust and smoke arose as the fire from the missiles ended and the beast now free ran out into the wastelands. Isaac took a breath and so did Edison, both standing up as the danger left them.

“So then it’s been a long day, I suggest that maybe we get something to eat, there should be something still in this town that we can ransack.” Isaac suggested and the two departed from the now hopefully abandoned base, the military sending its resources after Elijah.

Isaac grabbed a bagel and bit into it, the flavor was good as he tasted the jelly layered on top of the baked bread, at this point it was a bit stale but that didn’t matter. Edison nibbled at a piece of stylish bread from some sort of country, but that didn’t matter to the shark.

As he sat down at the table, he lowered his hood and took of his mask throwing the stupid thing to the side.

“You know what after all this time Edison?” Isaac asked her.

“What?” She asked, mouth filled with food.

“I couldn’t see shit out of that mask. I suppose that maybe I do get a bit angsty about death but I know that Finn is the key and I know that he has a connection to all of this.” Isaac wondered as he looked back.

“And if Finn returns from this satanic ceremony you must have planned because I don’t have any idea on what else you would have planned, what do you think he will think of you? Will you have gone too far or not enough to make him stronger and faster?” Edison pointed out.

“Well I mean gene editing is a bit hard for me but I just need to have a perfect copy of one of his stem cells from his spine and then I can do what I need with that. Tidus will help rebuild what hasn’t been preserved well and surely then I just have to clone him.” Isaac explained.

“And you think you can do that, you seem like a gadget guy more so. Do you think you can figure out what millions of scientists haven’t, to perfectly clone Finn and what if he dies again, or because of your imperfections he dies again?” Edison thought up.

“I don’t have imperfections; all my resources will be thrown at this. I might be throwing science at the wall to see what sticks but if something sticks for even half a second then I know I am on to something.” Isaac bargained, the temporal agent laughed a bit. Both of them turned their heads towards the duffle bag situated on a nearby table.

“And do you think you can reverse death, what about more friends? What about Carson City?” Edison turned, the bakery was situated right outside of the wall, the wasteland just visible through a few trees. The bakery shook as the wind outside blasted on it.

The sun was rising again, the time got away from them. It was another morning and a few days after Carson City was destroyed. Finally, the truth of that seemed to be setting in, what little could be done for the city was done in Isaac’s mind.

And then the roof started to shake, Isaac thought none of it. The building might have been weakened after the shockwave and winds from the changing temperature of the Earth was just shaking it. Until he watched a fragment of the roof drop into the table.

And then suddenly a purple energy rose up, Isaac extended his hand. Sweat covering his face as he pulled the duffle bag into his hand. The two of them were pulled up as the forcefield passed through the table simply. And the roof collapsed, tearing into pieces as the shield rose up.

Above them a helicopter hovered, just shaking back and forth as a projector rose them up. The helicopter was huge and Isaac watched as a pair of bay doors extended open for them. The shark looked over to Edison, the agent quickly opening her apps and scanning them.

“Whatever this is, this is some sort of localized event. This hasn’t occurred in anywhere else so far!” Edison excitedly yelled as they were pulled into the body of the helicopter. Two more floated by, both hovering in the air.

“So then Outsiders welcome to this helicopter of mine, I call this a million dollars well spent because now I have to of the number one targets.” The two Outsiders turned and found their faces in front of an old Russian man. HIs hair grey and his mustache somewhat old fashioned. Isaac felt like a name was coming to his head but he couldn’t think of it and put it to the side.

“So then who are you?” Isaac asked as he looked around, his eyes tracing over the details. “Steel plated interior and a television screen, oh and is that a nuke, please tie me up and let me call you daddy because I would kill for this kind of equipment. Some sort of high general, oh wait I know now. Your Volgin, civil right issues in Haiti and South Africa, I was wondering is Martial Law called.”

“You would be right Outsiders, and I see this as an opportunity to take you in, disobey and well I have methods of dealing with that. Mainly this is my weapon, an energy conductor I like to show it off just to make sure everyone knows who they are dealing with.” Volgin reached behind and out of his back pocket, he pulled a little metal case. It had silver lines around the edges, a led at the front, a single button in the front.

As he pressed the button, Volgin smiled a purple whip seemingly being constructed out of matter as it flew onto the floor. He cracked it and it burned the floor, Isaac looked around and noticed a few more around the carriage of the copter. Out of the door, Isaac saw the forest of Lake Tahoe moving.

“Do pay attention Outsider, this is one of a kind and made for me especially, crafted with Swiss metal and the best energy conductors, this can do so much more and all I have to do is think.” Volgin pressed the button again and this time, he slashed, a blue sword popping the energy shield Isaac and Edison stood trapped in.

“I don’t know what Edison has to add because she is being a bit quiet, but this sounds like something straight out of “Men Looking to Compensate for Something Bi-Weekly.” Isaac spoke as he looked at the general’s face, the man turning to a pissed off appearance. Isaac felt the bi-weekly addition only helped in it all.

“Oh really Outsider want to speak a bit more, because I will be willing to de head you if you continue speaking, it would all be my honor. Remember who nuked your city!” Volgin argued as he brought the curved sword over a few inches and thrusted it right onto Isaac’s neck, just searing the sink a bit. Isaac quickly moved his head, out of the way.

“No shit, honor what is this. You’re a man with no honor.” Isaac spoke and this time Volgin slashed with the intent to kill, Isaac simply fell over. Falling to the ground as the blade passed over the ground, and then catching himself with his powers and raising himself back up. “Now then if you want to be civil about it, I would be willing to listen…”

Volgin clicked the button again and this time a green barrel exited from the metal case and Isaac had a feeling he knew what it was for. This time the Outsider took action, jumping forward with his powers. The shark slid along the floor but Volgin moved, walking towards the door.

Isaac jumped again, twisting his body as he charged the man. And Volgin smiled, he just moved out of the way again, this time door handle in hand. Grabbing the door handle again and letting Isaac slid right out of the helicopter, the man stepped forward and suddenly Edison turned towards him.

“Well then what are you going to do because I will kick your ass if you even think of doing anything.” Edison flat out spoke as she turned her tablet around and scanned the entire area. “Weird, I would think this was the timeline where you were most successful.”

“I’m sorry what was that Temporal Agent Edison?” Volgin asked as he clicked the button again, the purple whip appearing again, clicking again purple spikes appeared down the length of the device.

“Oh I’m sorry but didn’t you notice, your accomplishments kind of suck in this timeline.” Edison spoke, she might not have had the same abilities as Isaac but she could push buttons just as well.

Isaac suddenly raised his arms up, as he fell out of the helicopter. He turned his body around and looked back at the other two, and turned his body to them. The shark opened his arms and flew off towards one as he jumped with his powers.

The shark landed on the window of the first one, his foot crashing on the nose as he ducked his head avoiding the set of rotors. As the pilot, inside of the copter freaked out, starting to swerve the plane, Isaac simply put his hands up and repelled all matter away. The helicopter started to rumble and Isaac gave it about twenty seconds with the stability it loss.

Isaac jumped again, another push from his body letting him grab onto the steel bars at the base of the copter and climb along them to the back. This time the shark climbed up onto the door of the helicopter and raised his hand again, a blast right at the rotor.

It bent and split in half, the spinning blade being free and flying up into the air. At this time the pilot lost all control and Isaac smiled, this time running down the beam and jumping off as the helicopter descended, the blades just missing the shark as he flew by. As gravity pulled at Isaac again, the shark took aim at the third helicopter and jumped again.

Closing his arms together, he pushed continuously and flew forward like a bullet at the metal beast. And the shark screamed as he approached, more so as he blasted through the door layers of metal that made up each door. Isaac turned around as he recovered, he watched the second helicopter meet the first and then he turned himself around.

Turning his body, he opened his hands and flew forward back towards Maryam, he should have given her enough time to prove her worth and beat Volgin.

Maryam smiled as she held the whip in her hand and stood over Volgin, looking at the ocelot pilot as he sat conflicted on his actions. And then she watched as Isaac flew approaching the door, she smiled and grabbed the handle.

“Better hope he has some mercy for you.” Maryam told them as she walked towards the door, but not before grabbing the grey case. She looked at Isaac and the shark smiled, holding his hand out. “Oh sorry, good luck but I think I’ll take this nice whip.”

“You can’t do that!” Volgin yelled as he stood surprised at the audacity of the agents. But Maryam simply cracked the whip and he stood back down, she clicked the button again as it disappeared she grabbed onto the Isaac’s hand. The two floated for a second as they descended to the ground, landing in a field as they watched the helicopter pick up altitude.

The two landed, the grass being pushed out away from them as they landed. The two stepping off onto solid ground in the morning sun. Maryam nodded to Isaac as she opened the grey case and showed him the contents. It was a little smaller than the one that struck the city, but as Isaac judged distances he smiled.

“Well then I sense a little irony, about one tenth the strength, I don’t think anyone will notice if this just so happens to land on his helicopter.” Isaac reached into the case and picked up the lead layered bomb, it was the size of his palm, almost a nuclear grenade. Something to be thrown in a cannon and shot off.

Isaac grabbed the switch and nodded, pulling it out and then clicking the button, the device beeping as Isaac turned towards the helicopter and turned. Pulling his arm back, he counted it and judged, and then he threw it. The grenade flew through the air, Isaac held out his hand guiding it right to its destination.

“Quickly Oliver, get us out of here, the Outsiders are a tricky bunch of people they need to be dealt with but at a later time.” Volgin spoke as he stood up, walking towards the open entrance and looking down on the field they stood in. They were probably mocking him as he looked down.

“God I hate this place so much, remind me to drop a few more nukes on it later. I had Lake Taho…” Volgin spoke and then suddenly something metal flew into the carriage, bouncing around as the noise of a beeping sound filled the Cabin. He turned around and saw the little grenade sitting there, “No, fifteen seconds have to throw it out!”

Volgin ran at the device and scooping it up in his hands turned back to the door, the helicopter door sliding as some force compelled it to. The general counted down the seconds in his mind as he ran for the door. He grabbed the handle with one hand, and prepared to throw it as soon as he get a little bit open.

But it stood their stuck and then Volgin felt everything, pure nirvana as the generates exploded with the same force that he inflicted on Carson City. The helicopter engulfed in an airburst, a massive flaming ball of energy surrounding the helicopter and the few hundred meters around it.

“Look at that.” Isaac held his hand up, reducing the light for him and Maryam to watch as the bright ball lit up the sky again. If the blast a few days ago was for some sort of sin, then Isaac definitely felt pardoned. “That one was for Carson City!”

Isaac leaned back into the radioactive grass as he and Maryam finally relaxed their troubles mostly over. They sniffed the air and freshness of the air, as the air blew through them bring the smells of summer and the warmth of the sun. Isaac took a breath and wondered if a world with Finn was worth all the deaths.

And as the morality of the situation filled his head, a Jeep drove into the field and Isaac turned smiling as he watched Ross and Barry drive up to them. The two Outsiders got out of their car, looking at the Duffle bag.

“Well then we’ve had some victories and we’ve had some losses but I know how to win this and I can promise you that I will make sure Finn returns on my honor to you.” Isaac spoke, but in all the of the Lake Tahoe region there was one man questioning his honor well that man would be Bright.

The Kagen stood over the Lake, looking into the water. In the distance, he could see blasts of energy and hear the fights of the Kagen people. Winds of change blew behind him and the sky turned orange again, this time a massive airburst exploding over the sky west of the lake. Bright quickly ducked as he looked at the flaming explosion but it looked to be no harm to him.

“What the hell is happening here, all of this. This is a horrid and bloody war, the Kagens, the Outsiders, the Military and Riftwalkers.” And as soon as Bright said that name right in the lake front, a sword appeared. He stood still, the Kagen knew what omens that sword brought.

Basil smiled as he grabbed the sword, being dragged through the dimensions to it, opening his wings and doing a bit of a flying motion up as he sheathed the sword and landed behind Bright. The Kagen turned around almost expecting a backstab but the sad thing was that Basil was the most agreeable Riftwalker.

“So then did’ya miss me?” Basil asked as he closed his wings, Bright obvious got no joy from his jokes. “Oh come on, I know that it’s been a bad few days but still where is that smile I enjoy so much.”

“It died with the citizens of Carson City, I can’t do this. This is too much, I’m not doing some sort of dangerous liaisons as this, if the Kagen masters discover me with you then they will surely have my head for it.” Bright explained, Basil just shook his head and with one hand grabbed his sword and with the other extend it out to Bright.

“What are you doing?” Bright asked.

“If you’re afraid of the masters finding you then why don’t you come with me and I’ll take you to a place where no one will see us.” Basil offered and the sharks smiled. The Kagen shark extended his hand out and Basil threw his sword, the large metallic sword flying for a few second and then the two disappeared from the lake front in a swirl of wind.

Bright landed, he expected to be taken to some sort of secret place inside of the forest away from the war. But instead he landed on sand, and the shark looked in front of him. A wasteland, thrown objects everywhere and the shark teared up.

“Why did you take me here?” Bright asked he took his hand away from Bright, the shark teleporting to them to the edge of the forest. Right to the sands of what was Carson City, the shark froze in place as he looked forward. Basil extended his wings and wrapped them around Bright, comforting the shark as he did the same with his hands.

“Because I’m telling you that this war is stupid and this war is crazy. In the craziness of it all your forgot about your mortality and I am here to remind you of that. All the deaths and all the injuries you may have caused don’t mean nothing at this point and the Outsiders are in desperate need for help.” Basil offered and Bright looked at him.

“So then my mortality, neither of us dropped a bomb on this city, neither of us caused the fighting that was the nanobots and the military, we managed to play ourselves. How stupid is this war if either side could…” Bright finally vented his anger, the shark exploding as he realized how stupid it all was.

“I mean I thought this was good!” Bright added as Basil smiled looking back at the man.

“Yes, that’s the Kagen I know, not angry or war torn but smart and compassionate now then I don’t think we can convince either side but I think we can fight back, so then come with me and come fight with the Outsiders!” Basil purposely started to move the shark, taking him into the woods and away from the sand. Basil looked at Bright and blushed as he waited for his answer.

“Yes!” Bright cried out as he raised his arm up, and Basil smiled the shargon made his move. Even as his heart was beating quicker and quicker he leaned in and smashed his lips on Bright. The shark’s eyes opening in the shock as he felt the energy between them and then the Kagen decided to rebel, wrapping his arms around Basil’s body.

The two kissed, Bright feeling the wings of the Riftwalker and knowing how much trouble they would be in if they were caught. And then finally it seemed the two had ran out of air and separated, it was electric, the energy between them nearly caught on fire.

“So then are you ready to rebel against the Kagen Council?” Basil asked, as he once again extended hand and grabbed his sword. The shark smiled and grabbed Basil’s hand, the two of them off.

“I’ve been rebelling against them for six thousand years but this for once is the thing I feel best about doing!” Bright yelled as he disappeared in a flash of wind again, the two sharks off again. Neither side caring about race, and that seemed to be what was happening.

Even as both sides continued to fight more and more people realized they were the same and that started a revolution, those Kagens and Riftwalkers were simply replaced and as the war went one stretching from days into weeks, both sides setting up forts using the cold war infrastructure and holding positions.

More dangerous Riftwalkers and Kagens were brought in to fight in the war but it was the same because war never changes. As far as Isaac was concerned, he had to make Finn well again, taking blood from the corpse of the shark and mixing it in glasses trying to purify the DNA he had.

And for Barry and Ross they had to track down the nanobots and find Billy because love connected the mortal and his Outsider, and even separated they could feel each other. The nanobots disappeared however from the public eye of the Outsiders and the war continued on unsolved.

Iren recovered, but she found herself facing a strange truth. She could never raise a child that would be her own blood, Tidus would never be the same for her and she would never feel that motherly bond that was so advertised. At nights, she cried, Isaac unable to figure out how to fix her injuries.

Bright and Basil’s love bloomed and blossomed as they were finally accepted into an organization that accepted them as they were and the two integrated, helping the soldiers during the day with heavy equipment and welding. And their nights shared with the other, there was hope in the world as they saw it.

More soldiers deviated from the army and a base started, more soldiers joining and more equipment in their ranks as the base was repaired and so was their equipment. And over seeing it all was Ross, a year ago he thought he would be the useless gay token member but he now knew that he didn’t need Iren to do things.

Commanding people was where he belonged and watching the base being resurrected as he watched the progress of the war, he wondered how long it could go on. The war was hell and he knew at this point, well the Dragon didn’t know much. Their command line was shut off but looking at the soldiers cleaning their weapons brought hope, the Outsiders were a serious rebellion.

Volgin climbed forward as he looked around, his skin was burned and half of his mustache removed. Luckily for him Oliver worked good as a human shield and parachute, the general felt his burned legs and he couldn’t move them. He didn’t think that would work, so he climbed forward, revenge in his veins and the willingness to kill Isaac O’Neill and Maryam Edison.

Pulling himself forward in the grass, he looked at himself, his one hand was burned and not healing. He hadn’t eaten in a day or so and he was losing blood slowly. Landing in what seemed to be the middle of a forest, he climbed towards the light and he smiled as he climbed up onto the road.

And then he heard the sound of a motor rumbling in the distance, it was loud and it was big. Turning, the human looked as five motorcycles turned the corner. On them he saw auras and he knew they were Riftwalkers, the head motorcycle sped up and drove forward, engines blazing.

And then the Riftwalker felt a little bump on his wheel as he ran over Volgin’s head, splashing blood over the road. The gang members crossing over the shark and tearing him to pieces as they continued along. And as the days when on Volgin was erased away by the radioactive rain.

Isaac smiled he finally found the solution he needed and leaning back in his chair he started the final phase of his world saving experiment. Finn Harris would be saved, and he would live again.
