Vor-tual Reality
#1 of Secret Santa

My Secret Santa gift for rikuredo, for Kikatsu's Secret Santa 2018 event, of his dalmatian experiencing a strange new, and oddly reactivate, gaming headset. This was a little bit of a different kind of post, one that didn't necessarily have a defined end and mostly rushed the plot to a certain degree. The title might be a bit misleading, but the implications are still there. Hope you enjoy!
It was a rather dull day, the kind where the skies are dull and gloomy and, when it's not raining, the ground is muddy and mucky; a day that a specific dalmatian had been planning to spend quality holiday season time with his friends. But it looked like he would have to wait out the storm, whether he wanted to or not.
Will was found staring blankly out one of his house's windows, his hand propping up his bored, chubby face. The dalmatian wasn't necessarily the most fit or beach-body-ready type of person; In fact, to say he was chubby was a bit of an understatement. He sure was a fat dog, that was certain. His belly hung down a bit from his oversized shirt, and his plush thighs aided him in sitting upright comfortably without needing a chair or pillow. His arms and legs were decently thick enough, though even with the amount of squishy adipose he sported he didn't have trouble moving himself around. Overall, it was a size he was quite comfortable in, even if it was pretty obvious his appetite was the cause of the state of his body.
In any case, while he was bored sitting around to do nothing, he was waiting. What for? Well about a week or so, the dalmatian couldn't remember, he had won a contest for a special kind of virtual reality headset which otherwise would have costed him hundreds of dollars at market price. The company making it held this raffle as a sort of holiday season promotional for their brand, and ever since he heard about his prize winning Will was ecstatic, eagerly waiting for the day it would arrive. Even now, in his pouty mood, he was waiting for it to come in. Suddenly, while he was sitting around, his body let out a low GROOOAAAAN of hunger. He looked down to his plump stomach and poked at it. He was starting to feel hungry again, but if he ate now, he might miss the delivery. Then again, he knew his body was not one to allow missing out on meals. Maybe he could grab a quick snack to tie him over and come right back?
Just as he was thinking over the details, the sound of the doorbell rang through the house, indicating the arrival of his package. With a sudden change of expression, he jumped into gear and ran for the front door, nearly tripping over himself in the process. He got to the door and quickly flung it open, expecting to be greeted by the face of the postman. But rather than someone meeting him face to face, Will instead found that there was only a single box at his feet, with a note attached to the top. Confused, yet equally as curious, he grabbed the box up into his arms and walked back inside, detaching the note on top to read it over as he brought the package back into his living room.
"Hello, and congratulations once more on winning our raffle! Inside is your new virtual reality headset, with a few modifications we thought you'd be interested in trying out. We hope these experimental changes won't be a burden on your experience, and wish you the best of luck in playing!"
The note was downright confusing to Will. Nothing in this note clarified what exactly was in the package, other than the vr headset. And what was this about "experimental modifications"? "Best of luck"? This felt extremely sketchy, especially since the message didn't even mention the name of the device or the company. But while Will was thinking over the details, his stomach let out another loud, demanding rumble. He was more than easily reminded of his hunger, tempting him once more to eat. He could go right now, but at the same time, he waited all this time to get his prize. Maybe... maybe just one game? Then he'd go eat.
Setting down the box on his coffee table, he stripped off the tape holding down the flaps in place and opened up the package. Inside, through countless packing peanuts and bubble wrap, he found the headset, oddly enough not in a secondary box and... already set up? It looked like someone had already been using it from the way it was adjusted to already fit someone's head. But Will wasn't one to complain if it was free. After plugging the device into the wall outlet beside his couch, he sat down and took a last look around his room before plunging into the device and turning it on.
With a few whirs and flashes of light, the area around Will came into sight. He found himself in a strange wooded area, stranded on a dirt path between two sides of a forest. Overhead, the sky was blue and the sun shone down warmly on his fur. Oddly enough, he felt like he was actually in the game. Maybe it was just the immersion, as the sound of birds chirping around him reminded him that it really was a virtually generated forest rather than his suburban home.
Suddenly, from the side of the forest, a figure appeared. It was a crow, dressed in what looked to be a typical purple wizard outfit with a wooden staff to match. As the crow revealed himself, the dalmatian watched as a black textbox appeared before his face as well, with the crow's face appearing on the side of the text box.
"Welcome traveler! You must be new to this place."
The dalmatian, not having any controller to use, wasn't quite sure how he would progress the text. Just as he thought it over, the text box moved on its own.
"My name is Giarto, a lone wizard of this land, and I thought it'd be best to offer my help to you in this land. Would you like my assistance?"
Two options came up on the text box: "Yes" / "No". While Will was not fond of tutorials in games, he thought to at least let the game explain how to play, in order to learn playing without tangible input. Guessing his best way to act, he nodded, and subsequently the "Yes" option was selected.
"Wonderful! As you may have already noticed, you do not have any direct control over this game. So I will tell you how to play without needing to move."
Giarto began to explain the little details Will needed to hear. What Will ended up finding out is that the game was controlled by sound and head movement. For example, if he wanted to talk to someone, he'd have to speak their name. If he wanted to walk, he'd have to move his head up and down. It wasn't something Will could see himself doing for too long, but it would definitely be a fun experience to try out. At least it would be a comfortable experience to not use his hands for a bit.
Just as Giarto was beginning to explain the next concept, he and Will were both suddenly ambushed by another figure: a blue slime.
"Oh no, an enemy approaches! Looks like it's time for combat. Simply shout the command option you wish to use when it pops up. Oh, and allow me to provide you with this!"
Just as Giarto said that he rose his staff and emitted a white light, casting down an array of sparks over Will's body. The dalmatian looked down and saw he was now holding a sword and shield, and was also geared in a basic leather tunic. Before he could marvel over the gift, a large text box appeared, with several options at his disposal: "Fight" / "Special" / "Item" / "Flee".
Will decided to go with the basic option of "Fight" first, then having to clarify that he wanted to "Attack" rather than "Defend". He watched as his player model swung their arm up and then down onto the slime.
"SLASH! Enemy slime has taken 3 damage!"
While it was only a small amount of damage, the dalmatian was still proud of the successful attack. But suddenly, the slime lurched forwards, slamming its body against Will's. It didn't hurt him, but Will definitely felt the impact, as if his body was expecting it to happen.
"Will has taken 1 damage!"
Will decided to attack once more, and this time, his second slash landed a solid 5 points of damage. With a flashy display of fanfare, the slime went down silently.
"Enemy slime defeated!"
Will smiled at his success, reveling in his first completed battle. But just as he thought the battle had been won, another text box appeared.
"Harvest for exp.? 'Yes' / 'No'"
Before he could truly take in what that meant, Giarto stepped in between him and the slime body.
"Oh yes, I forgot! When defeating an enemy, you have the option to harvest the experience points from their body in order to level up. There are no harmful downsides to doing so, however be sure to do so in regulation, otherwise you may bulk up quicker than expected."
Will looked back to the text box and contemplated his choices. It didn't seem like it would be any sort of problem, though the word choice may have been a little strange. Nevertheless, he nodded for "Yes". The slime began to slowly grow bright, before bursting into hundreds of particles of light, which shot at Will and absorbed into his body. The sudden sensation felt odd, a feeling Will couldn't quite make sense of in regards to what he was doing. He recognized the feeling as fullness, like he just ate a hearty meal. It was such a bizarre feeling to have happen while playing a video game, but Will couldn't think over the details much before Giarto began to speak once more.
"Wonderful display of combat, traveler. I believe you are truly ready to head out into this world on your own. Till we meet again!" And just like that, the crow had disappeared into the forest from which he came, leaving Will alone.
The dalmatian was surprised by what this game had to offer so far, with how it controlled and how it made you feel truly immersed. Maybe the headset had special sensors on it? Or maybe he was just imagining things. The game couldn't actually affect him, could it? In any case, the dalmatian was eager to continue playing. But that eagerness was suddenly halted by another feeling, that once again of hunger.
He still hadn't eaten, and promised himself he would after just one game. However, he was having so much fun already. It wouldn't be fair to just stop now, especially with his hunger having decreased extremely since he began playing. Maybe he was so immersed it was making him forget about it. But then again, it could just be his imagination. Regardless, Will thought to show control over himself this one time, even if it was by playing video games. Without hesitation, the dalmatian decided to push forwards. Maybe he could find another slime to harvest, one that would give him that weird full feeling again. If he wasn't going to eat he could at least emulate it, right?
After around an hour of playing, Will was truly invested in the game. He had already grown a decent chunk in levels, and was on his way to continue the grind. Unknowing to him, the body of his character was also starting to show signs of "chunk" growth, but not in the way one would expect. With every enemy defeated, the dalmatian's body seemed to bloat up ever so slightly. For the first few enemy encounters, it wasn't even possible to see the change, but somewhere along the line it began to grow on him, literally. His belly grew at least half a foot and drooped down around a fourth. His neck was developing a second chin, and his moobs were starting to plump up as much as his arms were. His thighs and butt were facing similar issues, struggling to not burst through the fabric struggling to hold them in. His tail was also finding itself pressed up against his pants, looking like it would snap in half from the pressure his glutes were emitting on it.
The only thing that seemed to support his body's growth effort were the frequent visits to the armory. Every new pair of chainmail or bronze or iron armor seemed to fit like a glove when it first went on, but by the time Will went back his body had managed to form new grooves and dents into the material. One cheek from his butt was at least three times the size of his head by the time he got to the end of his first dungeon, and his belly was nearly scraping the ground. Every movement was almost labor inducing, if not for the fact that the dalmatian was oblivious to his continuous growth. Every attack and special and defend caused his body to jiggle uncontrollably, but it still wasn't seen by his eyes. Even when he swung his tree-trunk arm the size didn't register as different. The only goal in sight was the games' end, and one of those roadblocks to the end was the first boss.
The monster was enormous, at least twice the size of Will. It looked like a minotaur, wielding a large axe and dressed in a light assortment of armour that showed off its buff physique. The beast was intimidating, but Will knew he couldn't back down, not after all his work. He attacked relentlessly, using all his skill he had built up over his journey so far to combat his foe. It was quite a difficult feat, one that required Will to think of a few new tactics on the fly. He was sure he'd fail, and was regretting having to go back to his checkpoint and do the whole boss fight over again. But to his surprise, he managed to best his foe. With a special fanfare, Will stood proudly over his fallen enemy. He didn't even think twice when the "Harvest" textbox appeared, light absorbing into his body just as he expected.
But to his surprise, for the first time ever, the input into his body was so immense that it caught him off guard. He could see the front of his body rising, as if fat was building in it every passing second. His butt and thighs were filling out dangerously fast, popping out of his armor quick enough to cause his character to fall back. Still he filled up, his neck developing a third roll forming to a fourth and his arms becoming comparably thick to his bloated face. His love handles spilled out of what open room they had between the crevices in his armor, causing it to burst as well and split apart the fabric in the way.
As the bloating came to a crawl, Will realized he was not only fat but also now stuck in place, only coming to terms that his body had actually grown upon this understanding. And that realization was not a pleasant one to him. He felt cheated that a stupid game mechanic would prevent him from playing against his will. Seeing no way out of his mess, he simply reached up to take off the headset. It was surprisingly hard, for some reason, but he managed to grab the headset and pull it up. It took a second for his eyes to adjust, the duller colors confusing his mind as he came back to the real world in all its neutral tones. A large blob of white with black spots was in the majority of his view, making it hard to see around him. But as a few seconds passed, and his vision corrected itself, he realized that this was no ordinary blob: HE was the blob.
His body, much to the surprise of the dalmatian, had retained its form from the game. He was beyond shocked, trying to wrap his head around how his body had grown to this size while he was playing. The only possibility that came to mind was the game's strange "Harvest" option. He struggled to move his head around, partially sunk into the flabby rolls that bloated outwards from his neck. He was a wobbly, jiggly, flabby fatass with a canine color palette. His arms were practically indistinguishable from the rest of his enormous gut, of which pressed against his ankles after fattening up a good foot past his knees. His back was inflated to the point of crushing any cushions behind him and becoming their own. His butt and thighs had splayed outwards to where he could see them even past his C-cup moobs. He was trapped under his own weight, unable to move freely other than move his head or speak, just like how he was playing the game.
And the worst part? He was STILL hungry.
