Ragnarok - XXVII
#28 of ragnarok and the story ends, as all stories must if they continue long enough, with a funeral and farewell. somewhere it was autumn. on the shore wind-kissed and smelling of soft salt there stood but three alone.
Ragnarok - XXVI
#27 of ragnarok the final confrontation draws to a close. the sulfur carrier had dug its claws into the cliff face, on either side of the shallow crevice where the old man stood at bay. the rock walls were collapsing in.
Ragnarok - XXV
#26 of ragnarok cw - death, animal cruelty, torture, claustrophobia, online harassment, multiple sclerosis in order to reach varr and the old man, shane must force his way through the sulfur carrier's soul.
Ragnarok - XXIV
#25 of ragnarok varr and the old man weather the sulfur carrier's attack, as elsewhere shane hurries to return. it grinned. it ripped a fist of mangling claws down like a meteor.
Ragnarok - XXIII
#24 of ragnarok cw: violence, death klau makes his last stand against the soot, and the old man arrives for a final reckoning with the sulfur carrier.
Ragnarok - XXI
#22 of ragnarok shane meets the old man in person, at last, hidden from the sulfur carrier in the mortal world. and from there he goes to finally say farewell. i'm reasonably proud of this canto, even if it is straight.
Ragnarok - XX
#21 of ragnarok shane's ghost wanders the city, invisible and intangible, and finds himself listening to man - seemingly rehearsing a lecture - at the edge of a cemetery.
Ragnarok - XIX
#20 of ragnarok shane looks about at the world he has reached, to find he recognizes it. journey to the underworld is a common characteristic of the epic as a poetic form.
Ragnarok - XVIII
#19 of ragnarok shane finds himself on the path outside the world. this is was by far the easiest part of the entire poem to write.
Ragnarok - XVII
#18 of ragnarok as the sulfur carrier's final assault begins, shane and varr try to get the young girl to safety. if i'm remembering right, this was where progress on the poem stalled for a long time while i was at grad school.
Ragnarok - XVI
#17 of ragnarok the arrival of the sulfur carrier. "mean you to slay this?"
Ragnarok - XV
#16 of ragnarok as the witchfolk depart for other worlds, king roam and the young girl both come to speak with shane, ere a further calamity befalls. i'm still pretty proud of the dialogue in this canto.
