Dear Diary,
This is the first entry for the new year. Ma recommended that I would write in it. Took 10 crowns to buy it, almost half of our stock. Mother emphasized how much I have to take care of it so I must take care of it.
So I'll write, as meaningless as it is. I don't know what to write. So I'll try and make this quick.
The last year has been kind to us. Ma and Pa have been selling a great deal of crop thanks to the blessed early Spring. My younger brother, Elijah, learned to read much better in the summer, and he's learning to write soon too. We celebrated his birthday in the Fall. And in the Winter, mine was celebrated too.
The Christmas Eve this year seems to be different than the others that I remember. I'm not sure what's so different about this one. There's a bit of...magic to it. It must be from the spirit of Saint Nicholas, the one that we are told of from the church. It's said he comes and brings food to kids who put their shoes out on their doorsteps. I've yet to catch him, and he always seems to stay out of sight.
As I am writing this. My parents are telling me to come out. A shooting star they said, they want us all to make a wish for another good year. I'll come around and see it, and make my wish too.
