It is the night of the birth of our Lord, and both the capital and the commonwealth are merry in celebration. The king and queen have been preparing for a banquet feast and have thus been sending their squads of knights to retrieve their selected lists of game and crop. While I am in no place to judge the ruling hand of my king, I have to at least write down my objections to his declarations.

His declaration to increase the price of his tithes does not bode well for the commoners around him. They do not have much to begin with, and I fear that should he take more they will have little left for themselves and thus will cause a start for rebellion. The other that I worry more of is the increasing tensions of our relationship with the kingdom of Folshorn. They're our only connection to the rest of the continent, as Alzarin is set in a wide peninsula territory that's still mostly unexplored, leaving us isolated. While it gives us plenty of space for our people, there is not much resource to gather from our current understanding of the land. Folshorn currently ensures Alzarin with resources that the land does not provide, and I disapprove my lord's current handling of the relationship with Folshorn as he taxes their trades much higher than they do to us. I pray to our Lord that war does not come to us.

Though I shall count my blessings. Those are the only things I disapprove of from my lord for this year, and the celebration is lightening the mood. Many are attending church at these late hours. I have no need as I've already done my share at noon. I've also had my own share of mead and wine, the best that the kingdom has made yet! As I am writing this the banquet feast is going to happen soon, and the king has sent his servant to tell me to gaze into the stars tonight. He wants me to see if things are going to bode well for the next upcoming year.

As I'm writing this, I've taken observations of the stars and the celestial body alignments. The signs point to that the kingdom will face a great year ahead. Though I also fear for it as well. A comet has been spotted. Even though I should not believe in superstitions, I have heard that comets are omens of terrible things to come. Though if this is to be true, I must tell my king so we may prepare for what may come.
