FERREN GENERAL HOSIPITAL

12:07 . . . The time itself had come to be a harbinger of pain and misery for the warrior. It was the time the nurse came by and gave Kira her medicine, and the wolfess couldn't stand it. The needles, pills, the whole lot made the inquisitor sick to her stomach. Kira looked over to the door and grimaced as the cheery gazelle nurse walked in with her needle and a cup.

“Hiya Kira! How's my favorite warrior doing today?"

“Unfortunately I'm alive . . ."

“Aw don't be such a sourpuss! Today's finally the day!"

“What are you talking about Michelle?"

“Silly wolf! You're being discharged today! The doctor's checked all your charts and have confirmed that you can go home today! Aren't you excited!?" Kira flashed Michelle the most indifferent look she could muster and replied “You're joking right? This isn't some cruel ploy to raise my hopes so you can crush them?"

“ . . . Uh no. Believe it Wolfy you're free! I'm just here to give Mr. Morton his medicine." Kira looked over and indeed saw her dying neighbor flash her a sheepish grin. The wolfess slid out of bed, straightening her nightgown and said “Well then if you don't mind, I'll be leaving then. I think I've been prisoner for long enough!"

“Whoa slow down Wolfy! You can't leave just yet! The doctor has to come and discharge you! Then we have to return your things back to you!"

“Ugh! How long will this take!?"

“Don't get your royal knots in a twist! It'll only take a couple of minutes."

HOUR AND A HALF LATER

Kira grumbled angrily as she stood waiting in the lobby, She had grown tired of this hospital and desperately wanted to leave. Her seething and loathing then ceased as a lab coat clad horse walked from the back room.

“Ah here she is, Special Inquisitor Kira! It's been awhile hasn't it?"

“Yes Dr. Charles it has."

“I know you're ready and roaring to get back to your duties, but I have to do one last check to make sure everything's on the up and up. Now let's see . . . Well it looks like everything's all clear."

“So I'm free then?"

“Well you could leave, but I don't think you'd want to part with your weapon. We kept it safe and locked away while you recovered." Kira grabbed her spear and smiled as its power coursed through her. The wolfess then returned it to its holster on her back and said “Thank you Dr. Charles. I know I've been a handful."

“It's alright Special Inquisitor, I know you're going through a lot right now . . ."

“I beg your pardon?"

“You know with . . . The Changes." Kira flashed the horse a confused look and replied “Doctor what ever are you talking about?"

“Wait!? You haven't heard yet? I thought a messenger would have visited or something! Well this isn't easy to say but . . . Yesterday all federal workers got a memo from your father detailing the disaster and the changes that would be made to Government."

“Okay and? Many rulers do that in wake of crises."

“Well the chain of command was updated and your name was removed . . ." Kira stumbled back in shock, not fully comprehending what had just been said to her. The wolfess braced herself against the desk in fear of falling, leaving Dr. Charles to catch her and say “Hang in there Kira! You don't wanna upset your injuries further!"

Kira flashed Charles a pleading look and said “Who?"

“Wha?"

“Who replaced me!? I need to know!"

“ . . . _Kiza Kydon?" _

“Put me out my misery now Charles. Just grab those lethal needles and kill me now!"

“I'm not going to kill you Kira, Get a grip! Now I don't care what the memo says, but you're a fine leader and your father knows that. He obviously replaced you temporarily because he knows you'll need time to fully recover. Give it some time and I'm sure you'll be restored back to your position."

“Y-You're right Dr. I shouldn't get worked up over some silly title. I think I'll be fine now, thank you for everything."

“No problem Special Inquisitor and I will be seeing you at the Kingdom Rally right?"

“Yes, but I will be in the family box this year. I decided against participating for personal reasons."

“Understandable, now get outta here before I find another reason to keep you here!" Kira genuinely smiled, waving goodbye, then left for the docking port. The wolfess looked of to the side and frowned as she saw the remains of the Ferren tower, a constant reminder of her failure and weakness.

“Snap out of it Kira! You're losing yourself here!" Kira felt a small vibration on her back and said “Oh it's you Jericho. Haven't felt you in ages." The weapon vibrated some more leaving Kira to tilt her head asking “Not return home? Are you insane?! I have to report back home, I need to appeal to Father and get back on the front lines. I may have stopped the patriarch, but his weapon is still out there! What if it decides to resonate with someone else! Then what!?"

Jericho shook violently throwing the wolf off balance, leaving her to say “What's your problem today!? You're being a nuisance!" The weapon vibrated some more making Kira grow more worried by the second. You're lying! I can't sense the weapon or the boy! Are you positive the weapon has resonated with someone else!?" '

“The spear vibrated softly in response then ceased it's communication with Kira, leaving her alone in her thoughts. “If Ethos has already found another warrior, then we might be too late . . .

SKIES ABOVE THE KORCEN KINGDOM

Shirlene giving it her all, she really was, but the look on Jeeve's muzzle was tearing her to pieces. The wolf had kindly asked that she not pry as to what happened on Gerosia, but the rabbit couldn't resist. She cast a worried glance behind her and caught Jeeve petting Clover absentmindedly, oblivious to her staring.

“Say kid . . ."

“ . . . Yea?"

“You thinkin' about why there was no garbage on Gerosia? Well there was some trash around, but there wasn't like mountains and mountains of trash. That ruffle your fur at all?" Jeeve didn't acknowledge her question and continued petting Clover.

“I was so stupid Shirl."

“Aw don't be like that!"

“It's true! I've been on such a one track mind since I got here! Like honestly what have I been doing all this time?!"

“Helping folks! You've killed like twenty guys, brought back the ocean, saved a family, and that was like in your first three days here! You're a hero kid and you shouldn't forget it."

“Nigel was right . . . It's honestly hopeless. I can't beat Kyoto like this!? He's already killed off all the patriarchs and he can do it again!"

“Come on Kid! There's gotta be something we can do!? We can break into an armory and rig some weapons together or something!"

“Wait! Say that again!"

“What? Rig some weapons together?"

“No! Not weapons . . . Weapon! The Sirius!"

“What's that?"

“Probably the only helpful thing Nigel told me. He said it was what Kyoto used to wipe out the patriarchs."

“So what? You wanna commit suicide?"

“No! Kyoto is an Arc warrior too! So we could use the weapon against him!"

“Now you're using the ole' noodle! Though to get info on the weapon, I'd need a federal level computer plug in."

“Where would we find something like that?"

“Usually in a Governor or Kingdom leader's office! Computer! Locate the nearest Federal Level Port."

_“LOCATING . . . LOCATING . . . LOCATING . . . ITEM FOUND CAPTAIN!" _ The C Wing then displayed a holographic image of a grand castle, with a red dot over the top portion."

“Damn you sure computer?"

“YES CAPTAIN. THIS IS THE ONLY PORT WITHIN THIS KINGDOM WITH THE CREDENTIALS YOU SEEK."

Shirlene grumbled angrily, then suddenly snapped up saying “This could work! We can do this!"

“Whoa! I'm glad you're all on aboard, but why the sudden vote of confidence?"

“It's the Kingdom Rally kid! With the event being held here in Korcen, all the world's leaders will be here and security will be focused on keeping them safe! That way I can sneak in the office and download what I need."

“Wait two questions! One; What will I be doing while you're off playing double agent and two; What's a kingdom rally?"

Shirlene smacked her forehead at Jeeve's ignorance and said “You'll be in the actual kingdom rally, and as for what it is . . . The kingdom rally's like the granddaddy of all sporting events! It started hundreds of years ago and we've been doing it ever since."

“Sounds a lot like our Olympics. So I'm guessing there's multiple events to compete in and the winner takes home the gold?"

“You got it kid! Though we're registering you for only one event . . . The Perfect Run."

“What's that?" Shirlene pressed a few buttons on her console, bringing up a holographic image of the course."

“The Perfect Run is a brutal obstacle course that challenges your speed, endurance, and your split second decision making. Okay pay attention cuz' I'm only telling you once!" Shirlene pressed a few more buttons displaying a red line going through the course. “You'll have to run through a mine field right here, making sure not to trigger them."

“Wait you can die in this event!?"

“Of course kid. Animals die in the games all the time, why do you think animals watch it? Anyway once you clear the field, you'll have to clear these rooms on the bottom floor."

“Clear them? I don't understand."

There's going to be soldiers inside the tower, and it'll be your job to fight them and get to the top of the tower, where you'll press the button to lock your time. It's a battle to the finish, but I got faith in you."

“Okay I'm going to point out some flaws I noticed . . . How am I supposed to register when I'm not even a citizen of anywhere?"

“That's the easy part! I'm getting you hooked up with a fake identity now."

“Okay, but what about competing? I draw power from Ethos and it'll look real suspicious if I compete with him."

“ Ugh Fine!! I'll give you an extra blaster to make you look like a regular Joe!"

“Okay Okay, last concern! Will Kyoto be there?"

“Ha! He hasn't been to a Kingdom Rally in Ages! The likely hood of seeing him there will be slim to none! Don't worry Kid. Everything's playing into our favor! All you gotta do is compete, you don't even have to win! Just buy me enough time to get the intel we need."

“ . . . I have a bad feeling about this."

“You have a bad feeling about everything!"

KYDON KINGDOM: ROYAL PORT

Kira limped angrily from her ship, grumbling all the way.“The nerve of that peasant! Ask for my credentials will you?" The wolfess made her way towards the castle's entrance and sulked in towards Kyoto's throne room, hoping to get some answers. Kira approached the door and meekly knocked praying her father was not home. A minute of dreadful silence passed, before Kira sighed in relief and turned to leave.

“Enter Kira." The wolfess stiffened at the voice the sighed as she reluctantly went inside. Kyoto's back was turned to her, his attention off somewhere in the distance, leaving Kira to be even more worried.

“G-Greeting Father! I have recovered from my injuries and have come to inform you that I will be returning to duty!"

“Hmm . . ."

“Everything alright Father?"

“Don't mind me I'm just looking for something."

“W-What have you misplaced?"

“Well I can't seem to find where you believe that you're being restored to your old position. Would you mind telling me where you got that information from?" There were very few times in life when Kira had been completely blindsided by something, and this was one of those times.

“W-Wha!?"

“You seem shocked Kira? Did you honestly believe that I would let you continue after the disaster in Ferren?"

“But Father!"

“But nothing. You are a disgrace to the Kydon name, always have been, always will be."

“How can you sit there and say that casually! I've done great things for this kingdom!"

“All of your so called 'great actions' equate to filthy rags in my sight. This is why I never wanted to make you Inquisitor in the first place. You can thank your mother for that."

“This is unbelievable! Some father you are ! You've been waiting and [plotting against me my entire life and for what?! Because you like Kiza more than me?! What does she have that I don't?!"

“It's not what she has . . . It's what she doesn't."

“What are you trying to say?

“You have too much patriarch in you. You were tainted the day your mother laid with them, unlike your sister who actually comes from my gene pool."

“Wait!? So you're not my father? Then if you're not . . . Who is!?"

“Who your real father is matters not to me, you should be thankful I had mercy on you and took you in when I did. Without my grace you'd be long gone."

“So very humble . . . Well since you've given my position to my sister, what am I supposed to do?"

“Kiza will be taking you under her wing from now on. You will be her assistant and you will obey every order that comes from her mouth. Do I make myself clear?"

“Crystal Father. Now If you'll excuse me, I'll be going now."

Yes please begone, you've wasted enough time here. Actually go back out towards the loading dock and wait for your sister's warship to arrive. I've received word that it's flying over Korcen now."

Kira took and exaggerated bow then sharply turned, growling as she left. The wolfess stomped through the castle, pushing and shoving any unfortunate soul who happened to get in her way. Jericho began vibrating causing Kira to grow even more frustrated

“What now Jericho!? Can't you see I'm fuming!?"

“ . . ."

“You can't be serious! You really think we should?"

“. . . ." Kira began looking around frantically and sharply whispered

“That would be considered treason Jericho! But . . . Do you think we could really do this?"

“ …………"

“I can't believe we're actually considering this! We'll table this discussion for now, we have to go greet my oh so wonderful sister."
