Dad,Mom,anyone?"

My voice echoed in the darkness. The cold air bit me as I walked along. I had no idea where I was. I was hungry,thirsty and tired,but most of all I was cold. I sank into the snow with each step and my paws were cracked and bleeding from the snow,every step hurt. I stopped,just trying to get my bearings,maybe figure out a way back to the den,when I heard a low,soft cry. As I started looking around,I saw a small little dragon siting in a clearing crying. It's voice told me it was a female.

"Umm,hello? I called softly.

She jumped and looked in my direction,but relaxed when she saw me.

"Hi,I said nervously,I...I'm Tyro,what's your name?"

"Adelind,she cried,Tyro is a funny name."

"I know,I replied warping my tail around my leg,"a few of the older kids pick on me for it."

Adelind laughed.

"Why are you out here?"I asked.

"I got lost during flight lessons,she said still crying a bit,I can't find my Dad or my Mom."

"Same here",I said timidly," and I think my wing might be broken."

"Let me see it",she said taking it in her mouth and pulling it out.

I yelped at the pain in my wing.

"It's broken in a few places,she said.

A chilled wind blew over,it carried snow and ice with it and caused us both to shiver.

"We need shelter",Adelind said puting her wing over me,"I found a cave back that way a bit."

"Come on,it's better than staying out here".

As we started for the cave,Adelind noticed I was leaving a small blood trial. "Your bleeding,she said starting to inspect me.

"It's my paws",I said,"their cracked from the snow." "Is this the cave?",I asked with a shiver.

"Yeah",Adelind said as we entered.

The cave was a large one. It was about ten feet high,20 or so feet wide and around 40 or so feet back. It was still cold on the inside,but was noticeably warmer.

"We can spend the night here",Adelind said,"then go our separate ways in the morning."

We walked to the back of the cave. It hurt to walk and on top of that,I could not get traction on the smooth rock and kept on slipping. Although she was trying to be discrete,I could see Adelind was holding back laughter.

"It's not funny",I said with a few tears,"it hurts just to stand up!"

"Let me see your paws,lay down for a minute."

I rolled on to my side and let Adelind check my paws. "Man,she said,I can see why." My paws were red and sore,the slightest bit of pressure hurt like crazy.

'You need to stay off of these",she said,"otherwise they might get infected."

I curled up and warped myself with my wings to try to fight off the cold,but it wasn't working. My teeth were chattering and my body was tense from the cold. Then,I felt Adelind put her wing over me. I looked at her,she didn't say anything but I could tell something was on her mind. I felt her move closer,and closer,now we were touching. I felt a smile cross my face. The heat coming of of Adelind's body had warmed me up just enough for me to spark and ignite my own fire,thus warming me back up. Adelind moved a little closer.

"You know",she said,"I think your kind a cute."

Her words came as a shock to me,"You,think I'm,I paused,cute?"

Adelind didn't answer,but I could see her smile."

'Well",I said a little nervous of how it might come out,"I think your cute too."

Adelind smiled again. Deciding to push my luck a bit,I un balled and stretched out. Adelind moved even closer to me. I could feel her relax as sleep took over. I looked around. The moon light was coming into the cave and dimly illuminated the entire area. I could just barely make out Adelind's features,she didn't have any horns or spikes,if she had claws,I coludn't see them and she had a blue under belly with blue dots on the tip of her tail. Other than missing horns and spikes,possibly claws,she and I looked identical.

"One day",I thought,"I might love to have a den like this."

I placed my head between my paws. I had little on my mind,and sleep soon took me over.
