The sunlight burned the arctic fox's nose, waking him up so he can hide back underneath the covers. As Vadim slowly came to, he panted a little bit from the heat. Without opening his eyes, the fox hid his face under the covers, and when he moved he realized how sore he was. He woke up a little bit more, and realized he wasn't in a familiar place. He smelled the smoke of strong incense and a bit of dust, and before he peeked his head back out from under the covers, he tried to rack his memory of where he was. The last thing he remembered he was going back to the ground level of Lumen City to do something, but he couldn't remember what.

The fox slowly peeked his head out and opened his eyes; he realized he was in a place he had never been before. Everything was made of stone around him, and there was a high ceiling above him with large wooden beams going across. A metal chandelier hung from one of the beams, but there didn't seem to be any lights on it. To the left of him was an arch shaped doorway with light shining in. Light was also coming in from some small windows near the ceiling. Vadim looked to his left and panicked when he saw a large black jackal, wearing nothing but shorts, squatting next to a small pool of water. The fox panicked and half fell out of the right side of the bed on to the floor. He stayed hidden, and was just about to dart out towards the arched doorway when he felt a large paw on his shoulder. Vadim whimpered and looked up at the dark jackal above him.

"Please don't hurt me."

The jackal chuckled a little. "Don't worry little one, I have no intentions on hurting you. How are you feeling?"

Vadim felt very submissive towards the large jackal. Now that he was close to him he could see that he was quite buff, and had a little bit of grey around his muzzle.

"I'm a bit sore, but I feel ok. Where am I? What happened to me?"

The sable canid lifted him up with ease and placed him back on the bed. "From what information I have gathered, you invaded a palace and got hit with a direct bolt of lightning from a weasel, it is quite a shame they are using their powers for evil. Any whom, your friends brought you here, as I am one of the few people around that can heal you. It has been almost two weeks since you brought here. Lay here for a while more, I will go fetch your mate."

Vadim grabbed his paw before he turned around. "Wait!" The towering jackal looked down at him. "What do you mean by 'powers'?"

The jackal chuckled, then what looked like blue tribal tattoos appeared and started to glow all over his body. He extended his paw out as a ball of blue electricity formed from the middle of it. He then slowly tossed the ball at the chandelier above, where the electricity quickly went all the way around it and then put out a soft blue glow of light that stayed on.

"I will explain to you how this works, but someone desires to see you first."

The jackal left the room, and Vadim was left there to try and soak everything in. He attempted to get up, but he limbs were super stiff from not moving. He decided to lay there and look around the room more. Past the small pool, there was some furniture; a small couch, a table with chairs, and some kind of cabinets. On the wooden table there was some incense and a few metal objects that looked like candle holders.

Vadim sat there for a minute more, before hearing padded footsteps running towards him. He looked towards the arched door to see his silver and red mate running in towards him with a big smile on his face. When he got to Vadim, he lifted his head and gave him a big kiss on the lips. The arctic fox smiled and licked his foxes muzzle when they were done kissing. Sig didn't say a word, and licked all over Vadim's face. The fox chuckled and licked Sig back a little.

"I was afraid I was going to lose you hun." Sig said as he looked in to Vadim's eyes. The smaller red and grey fox got in to the bed and started cuddling Vadim. The arctic fox nuzzled under his neck, lightly licking it.

"I don't really understand fully what is going on... Is that jackal Anubis?"

Sig chuckled a little. "No, he is not Anubis. His name is Jabari. Even though we've been here for a while, I still do not know much about him. He's very... mysterious. But he has been very kind to us since we've stayed here. This place is amazing too, I want to get you up and walking to show you around."

Vadim went to sit up, "Well lets go then." But Sig pushed him back down.

"No, I want to cuddle you some more. It's a lot more fun when you are awake." The fox said with a giggle.

The two vulpines laid in the warmth of then sun for a while, embracing and nuzzling each other. Vadim finally broke the silence.

"So what happened to me? Why am I here?" He said.

Sig let out a soft sigh. "I will tell you later, it was one of the scariest things I've experienced. I really thought you had died."

Vadim licked away a tear that formed from his mate's eye. "It's ok Sig, I'm here now and perfectly ok. No one will ever be able to split us apart. I want you by my side for the rest of my life, which will hopefully be a long time for both of us." The arctic fox kissed the red one deeply after he said this, then ended it by softly biting his ear. "You're my foxy fox." Vadim said with a smile.

"Well well, look who's awake, if it isn't out fearless leader."

Vadim turned towards the doorway to see a very happy Phil standing there, wearing camouflage pants and a green shirt. The raccoon walked over and gave him some soft pats on the head.

"I was afraid I wouldn't see ya again, dude. You gave me quite the scare."

Just then Jabari, the jackal, walked back in to the room.

"Ok Vadim, we need to get you up and start walking, you will be stiff for a bit, but you must work those limbs to get back to full health." His deep voice drowned out all of the sounds in the room. "Now come on, little fox, let's get those rusty bones of yours moving around again."

Sig got a bit closer to his mate, not letting go. "But can't we cuddle for a little while longer?"

Jabari smiled at the pair below him. "You have plenty of time for that later. He must get moving. Here, I'll even help."

The buff jackal picked up Vadim from under the shoulders, while Sig lightly protested. He gently placed the foxes footpaws on to the ground. Vadim tried to stretch his leg, but it was very stiff and he had a hard time. After a few moments he was able to take baby steps with Jabari's help. The coldness of the sand colored stone felt good on his paws beneath him.

The canines both slowly walked towards the pool of water. As Vadim got closer, he could see steps that led down to about four feet deep, where there was an underwater shelf to sit on. The water also was not clear, but quite a bit cloudy.

"This water will help you gain mobility," Jabari said. "On top of it being very warm, I have put many herbs and minerals inside of the water to help with the healing process. Soak in here for one hour, and then you should be able to move around quite well."

While Vadim relaxed in the water, Sig and Phil told him what had happened, making sure not to miss any details. The arctic fox still found it hard to remember what exactly happened, but he had a faint memory of it. The hour quickly went by, and Vadim could already feel himself being able to move quite a bit. Jabari came back in to the room and assisted Vadim with getting out of the pool, the fox was amazed that he could stand on his own now. He was still a little stiff, but was able to slowly walk. The group walked out of the arched doorway, in to a much bigger room. It had a lot of open space in the middle of it, along with a few other arched doorways that led to various other parts of the house.

They walked to the right, where an arched door led them outside. Vadim was amazed to see that they were in a Middle Eastern style house, that was pretty large. He had never seen any kind of architecture like this in his life. The house was surrounded by a huge forest, and off to the left of the house was a medium sized river flowing through. There were a few fish traps set a cross the river, and some clever engineering made some of the river water flow in and out of a large sandstone pool. The pool was crystal clear, and appeared to be heated by something. Parts of the house were two stories, and the parts that didn't have a full second story had an upper patio.

Jabari started leading Vadim over to an open grassy area, where he sat the group down in a small circle. Just as they were getting comfortable, Pavel walked out from the forest and gave Vadim a hug, then sat down with the group.

"So now that your fox friend is awake," Jabari's deep voice said, "I suppose I can explain to you all who I am and how that weasel was able to hit this fox with a bolt of lightning. To start out, my name is Jabari, my last name is not important. I am a black jackal, and no I am not Anubis. But that explains why I am out here, all alone. I am a descendant of Anubis. In every generation, there is always one of us in the world to help keep the peace. Once a black jackal dies, the next jackal born will be black and will easily learn his powers.

"I come from Lumen City myself, all of those particular jackals have electric powers. Everything that is used in those caverns is run off of their powers. As a matter of fact, as a descendant of Anubis, I am supposed to be their leader, but I have not been back there since I was very young. I prefer the peace out here, but from what you guys have told you it seems you need my help.

"Now, we jackals aren't the only ones to harness this power, as you have found out. A small group of mustelids learned from us many generations ago, when my clan lived at the island far away from here. The mustelids lived with us on the island, but once us jackals moved here, they followed, and wanted everything for themselves. They took over about a century ago, and my clan discovered the caverns underneath Lumen City. We moved in to there and built a new city underneath, and we have stayed there every since, guarding the caverns from our enemy. That being said, any species can learn our powers, but some can catch on quicker than others. I would like to teach all of you, so when we go back to Lumen City we can have a fighting chance. Any questions?"

The rest of the group sat there for a few seconds, soaking everything in. Pavel was the first to speak up.

"How old are you?" The little fox asked.

"I am 46 years old, and I have been here for almost ten years."

Vadim was the next one to ask a question. "So how do we use these powers? I really want to learn."

The black jackal chuckled lightly. "I'm glad you asked. That is why I brought you all out here, to give your first lesson. Now, electricity flows naturally through our bodies. Of course, in very small amounts. So to produce it, you must feel it all throughout your body, and produce mass amounts of energy. I want everybody to look up right now."

Everyone in the small group looked up.

"The sun is obviously the biggest producer of energy that we have within a few thousand light years. To start out, we will use some of the suns energy to create our own light. Light is a small step towards electricity, and a great starting point. It's quite easy, just start out with a little meditation. Oh and Vadim, I taught them all how to meditate while you were out. Your friends told me that you meditated on top of tall buildings, so you know how already.

"Now, take deep breaths, and feel the energy of the sun hitting your body. Put your paws together flat, and when you feel the right warmth from the sun, push your paws outward, and you should be able to create light. Just watch how I do it."

The black jackal closed his eyes and put his paws together in front of his chest, as if he was praying. A faint yellow glow started to appear, and after a few seconds the glow turned in to yellow tribal tattoos around the edges of his body. He then opened his golden eyes and pushed outward with his paws, creating a bright yellow light. He then closed up his paws and the light went away, and then his tattoos stayed lightly glowing.

"There is not much to it." Jabari said. "I want to see Sig go first. Give it a try."

The red and silver fox closed his eyes and put his paws together the same way the jackal did. He took a deep breath, and some faint yellow markings appeared around the edges of his body. The markings were much different from Jabari's. They started glowing brighter, and he pushed his paws outward. A faint ray of light appeared, and then got brighter right before he closed his paws.

"That wasn't too bad, Sig." The fox smiled at the compliment from his teacher. "Now Phil, you are next."

Phil did the same thing, and his markings were different from both Jabari's and Sig's. When he pushed his paws outward, a very weak ray of light was let out. The young raccoon smiled and blushed lightly.

"Now, there is a reason why Phil produced such a weak ray of light. It's not your fault, little raccoon, but I will explain it after Vadim shows us his stuff."

The arctic fox smiled weakly, and then closed his eyes and put his paws together. The vulpine took some deep breaths, and imagined being one with the sun above him. The rest of the group was stunned to see his markings glow a very bright yellow, then they turned from yellow to a mix of yellow and electric blue. When he pushed his paws outward, he did it towards the sky. Instead of a bright yellow light coming forth, a bright yellow light with a little bit of blue lightning came out with it. The arctic fox closed his paw and was amazed at what he had just did.

Jabari had a big grin on his face at what he just saw.

"You are not from around here, are you fox?" The jackal asked.

The arctic fox shifted around nervously. "My parents moved to Lumen City when I was a kit, they never told me much of where we were from."

The jackal smiled some more. "I am going to keep my eye on you. Now, the reason why Phil's was the weakest is because he is a raccoon. It's a lot harder for raccoons to learn this power for reasons which I will explain later. It's pretty easy for foxes to learn, and I have a feeling Vadim is quite the special fox, but we shall see. Now it's your turn Pavel."

The smaller arctic fox did the same thing as the others, and produced a mediocre ray of light. For the next few hours they practiced their new talents a bit, and then spent the rest of the day relaxing. Vadim also worked on getting his strength back, which was coming quite quickly. By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted and went to sleep early to get more training the next day.
