Esmeralda's eyes looked at a statue and starts to quietly sing, with Djali calmly standing next to her, hugging his fellow gypsy in need.
"#I don't know if you can hear me, or if you're even there.
I don't know if you would listen... To a Gypsy's prayer.
Yes, I know I'm just an outcast; I shouldn't speak to you.
Still, I see your face and wonder, Were you once an outcast, too?
God, help the outcasts.... Hungry from birth.
Show them, the mercy, they don't find on earth.
God help my people! We look to you still... (Quasimodo looks from a higher floor, memorized by the beautiful singing voice.)
God, help the outcasts, or nobody will,"# she sang. (Her ears listen to others' prayers, but for things such as wealth, fame, glory, and love.)
"#I ask for nothing, I can get by.
But I know so many, less lucky than I.
Please help my people: the poor and down-trod.
I thought we all were, the children of God.
God help the outcasts: Children of, God."# (Quasimodo leans to a pillar, lovestruck by the singing. One of the parishioners looks at Quasimodo and starts to scold him.) "You! Bell ringer," his stern voice called out. "What are you doing down here? Haven't you caused enough trouble already?!"
Quasimodo ran back up to the bell tower upon having been caught. Esmeralda, who watched the hostility that Quasimodo faced, ran to find Quasimodo. "Wait," she called. "I want to talk to you!" At one point in the new chase, Victor and Hugo both spotted Quasimodo and Esmeralda. "Look," called Victor. "He's got a friend with him." Hugo smiled at the woman who chased for Quasimodo. "Yeah. Maybe today wasn't a total loss after all," he said. "A vision of loveliness," added Victor. Laverne walked to them in confusion from the conversation. "What's even happening, boys," she asked. Hugo boisterously chuckled and answered with, "Quasi's bringin' home a foxy girl!" Laverne laughed the ridiculousness off and replied to him, "A foxy girl? Pfft, not the Quasi I adore." Victor shushed the two and responded, "Here they come!" (The gargoyles move out of Quasi's sight and watch the two interacting.) "Here you are. I was afraid I'd lost you," Esmeralda said to Quasimodo, who was awkwardly staring back at her.
This time, she was in her regular clothing, with a top that was exposing most of her cleavage. Quasimodo watched her tail sway from side to side with each step. "Yes: well, I- I have chores to do," he said to her. Upon examining Hugo's statue, Djali watched Hugo come alive and tease with a kissy-kissy face. "What the-? Did that statue become alive for a bit," he thought as he ran back to Esmeralda, who persistently chased Quasimodo, as if she were in heat right now. "I'm really sorry about this afternoon," she said. "I had no idea who you were. I would never in my life have pulled you... (Her eyes gaze wondrously at the bell tower's decorative.) up on the... stage." Djali was just as astonished by the surprising things one could see in the tower. "What is this place," he asked. Quasimodo smiled to Djali and answered, "This is where I live." Esmeralda's attention went to the sculptures on a table based off of what he saw outside. "Did you make all these things yourself," she asked. "Most of them," answered Quasimodo. Esmeralda's smile reflected from the mobile glass her eyes peacefully looked at.
"This is beautiful. If I could do this, you wouldn't find me dancing in the streets for coins," she said. Quasimodo heavily blushed at the vixen and said to her, "But you're a wonderful dancer." Esmeralda returned the blushing cheeks Quasi brought in first with a smirk. "It keeps bread on the table, anyway," she said. (She puts out a paw and grins to him.) "Care to dance?" Quasimodo shook his head and nervously answered, "I can't. Not with my lack of experience." Esmeralda calmly giggled at the hunchback and told him, "I would love to teach you. Djali, let's help Quasi learn a few basics on how to dance." Djali smiled at the opportunity and walked to her. "Of course, my friend," he said as he nuzzled the frisky vixen. "Esmeralda and I've danced for years, and our fondness for such pays well," he added. Quasimodo smiled as the duo began to dance to show that it was not hard. It was pretty simplistic for Djali and Esmeralda's calibers, but this was a new language of movement that Quasimodo would witness.
After this warmup, Djali kissed Esmeralda on the lips, whose blush intensified. Quasimodo couldn't help but calmly giggle at the sight. "A goat and a fox dancing together," he said. "Never expected to see that in my whole life." Esmeralda nervously clenched her tail while her cheeks continued blushing from the kiss she got. "Djali- Do you love me," she nervously asked him, disbelieving the kiss he gave her. Djali looked a little puzzled at first, but then said, "Maybe it was my hormones kicking in there. I mean, can you blame me?" Esmeralda smiled at Djali's answer and turned to Quasimodo. "Djali and I've been friends since childhood," she said. "I'm 20, and Djali is 19." Quasimodo looked with confusion at the vixen and goat. "What has it been like, living with the other gypsies," he asked. Esmeralda and Djali both looked confused at each other, genuinely surprised by the interest he had for understanding the gypsies' lifestyle. "I can't tell you much of that," said Esmeralda. "But I would be glad to see how fast you can learn." Quasimodo, this time, accepted the offer and began dancing with the vixen.
Djali watched Quasimodo adapt faster than he originally expected from the man. "Not bad, Quasi," he politely said. Esmeralda led the dance for him, allowing herself to change the speed to help him. "You're a surprising person, Quasimodo," she quietly whispered to her gentlemanly friend. After a few minutes of dancing, Esmeralda's eyes met Quasimodo's as she carefully nuzzled him. "Let's share a kiss," she quietly whispered to him. Quasimodo smiled and led the romantic kiss with her. Victor, Hugo, and Laverne, who got to the scene, were surprised, horny, and jealous, respectively. "What was I saying to you, Laverne," teased Hugo. Laverne angrily groaned at the cheeky gargoyle who stood next to her. "You were right for once, Hugo," she quietly groaned. Victor smiled at the potential romance he just witnessed. "They're still kissing," he whispered towards both of them. Hugo smiled at the goat, who saw him again. "So, what's your name," he asked. Djali hastily groaned and told him, "Djali, if my name is everything you would need."
Hugo smiled towards the goat and blushed a bit. "Actually, watching those two got me curious," he said. "I'm looking for dance partners: Laverne's a bit of a dominant woman..." Djali gestured Hugo to go and give him space. "I will have to pass on you," he said. Hugo calmly chuckled at the goat and told him with a sway of his hips, "Well, let's see who else there is for you. Not everybody will end up dancing with a goat with those eyes and fine coat of fur." Djali nervously blushed and groaned at the flirting gargoyle. "You must have been fun babysitting," he sarcastically responded. Laverne smiled at Victor, who spectated the interspecies friendship, which Hugo insisted to make more of a relationship. "Feel like dancing, dear," she inquired. Victor turned to Laverne and calmly shook his head. "I'm fine with watching Quasi kissing the fox he met," he said. Laverne rolled her eyes and reverted to an inanimate form for now. "Well, at least Quasimodo found the love of his life," she thought. "Victor is too emotional... Hugo's too boisterous... Quasi was the perfect mix." At some point, Quasimodo and Esmeralda stopped their kiss, which felt like a long time.
"You're an excellent kisser," said Esmeralda. Quasimodo nervously smiled at the romantic flare seen within her green eyes. "Thank you," he said. Djali abruptly stopped the dance with Hugo and nervously said to him, "I should go." Hugo frowned at his crush's comment and said, "I understand, my love. Thanks for dancing!" Djali was unamused by Hugo's advances and sarcastically responded "Keep dreaming, Loverboy." After this, Hugo then became inanimate as Esmeralda noticed the three gargoyles, none of whom were currently moving. "What are these three," asked Esmeralda. Quasimodo smiled at the three gargoyles. "These are gargoyle statues," he said. "Some say they come to life, but not for all of them." Esmeralda's brushed along Victor's stone smile as she gazed at his face. "Fascinating," she said. Quasimodo gestured Esmeralda to follow him to the bell tower's peak point. "Would you like to see more," he asked her. Esmeralda's tail wagged at the thought and said, "Yes." Quasimodo climbed up the ladder and led the duo who followed him.
"Good, I've saved the best for last," he said. Esmeralda was awestruck by the gorgeous sunset she saw. "I bet the king himself doesn't have a view like this," she said. "I could stay up here forever." "You could, you know," said Quasimodo. "You have sanctuary." Esmeralda and Djali both exchanged glances, then Esmeralda said to him, "But not freedom. Gypsies don't do well inside stone walls." Quasimodo sighed and responded to her, "But you're not like other gypsies. They are... evil." Esmeralda went cold from the offense she immediately received. "Who told you that," she asked. Quasimodo shyly said, "My master, Frollo." Esmeralda felt a lot sorrier for the hunchback at the surprising factor. "How can such a cruel person have raised someone like you," she asked with a frown. Quasimodo looked shocked at the choice of her words. "Cruel? Oh, no. He saved my life. He took me in when no one else would," he said. "I am a monster, you know." Esmeralda was stumped by his train of thought and just continued frowning.
"He told you that," she asked. "Look at me," Quasimodo solemnly said. Esmeralda glanced at him, then sighed. "Give me your hand. Just let me see it," she said. (Quasimodo puts out one of his hands.) "Hmm... A long lifeline. Oh, and this one means you're shy. (Her eyes look at his veins.) I don't see any monster lines. Not a single one. Now you look at me. Do you think I'm evil," she added. Quasimodo looked into her gorgeous green eyes once again and then blushed. "No. You are kind, and good," he said. "And a gypsy. Maybe Frollo's wrong about the both of us," added Esmeralda. Quasimodo looked around from above and gestured Esmeralda to come with him. "You helped me. Now I will help you," he said as he held her hand. "But there's no way out. There're soldiers at every door," Esmeralda argued. Quasimodo smiled to her and said, "We won't use a door." Esmeralda looked stunned and asked, "You mean, climb down?" Quasimodo casually grinned with a nod. "You carry him. I carry you," he said to her. Djali and Esmeralda both awkwardly blushed and shook their heads to him. "No, that won't work," they said.
Quasimodo then overheard footsteps and looked back at Esmeralda. "We must act now," he said. Esmeralda and Djali reluctantly agreed and worked with Quasi. "The trick is not to look down," said Quasimodo. Esmeralda blindfolded Djali as he sat in her arms, due to his fear of heights. "You've done this before," she inquired. Quasimodo hilariously grinned and responded, "No..." Esmeralda sighed and told him, "Now I'm afraid." After an elaborate escape, Esmeralda took off the blindfold covering Djali's eyes. "I guess being blindfolded ain't so bad," he teased. Esmeralda awkwardly blushed a little from the surprising comment. "You find it kinky," she inquired. Djali heavily blushed back at her. "Can't say I don't," he said with a grin. Quasimodo was puzzled with what the two were discussing, for the talk of fetishes went over his head. "What do you mean," asked Quasimodo. "I would be so nervous if I were blindfolded!" Esmeralda now looked stricter towards Djali, intending to keep Quasimodo's head out of their gutter.
"Never mind; Djali and I've occasionally had some weird conversations," she said. (She brings one of her paws to his face.) "Come with us- to the Court of Miracles! Leave this place." Quasimodo nervously shook his head, not wanting to leave a trace of escaping. "No. This is where I belong," he said. Esmeralda's tail brushed to his side as she seductively looked at him. "All right, then I'll come to see you," she said with a kiss to him. Quasimodo heavily blushed from the sudden kiss by her. "Whatever's good for you," he said in a lovey-dovey voice. Esmeralda smiled at her hunchbacked alley and took out a specialized necklace from her hair. "If you ever need sanctuary, this will show you the way. When you wear this woven band, you hold the city in your hand," she said. Djali tugged Esmeralda's other hand while the three heard more guards walking down the dark alleyway. "Hurry. You must go," Quasimodo warned the gypsy duo. (Djali and Esmeralda immediately start running.) After watching the two successfully cross before the guards could see them, Quasimodo climbed back up to head for his home. "I'll never forget you, Esmeralda," he thought.
While returning, however, Quasimodo was shocked by the helping hand he got: it was Captain Phoebus, who was calmly smiling at him. "I'm looking for Esmeralda," he politely stated. "Have you seen her?" Quasimodo immediately jumped onto the tiled floor on two feet and angrily growled at him. "Whoa, whoa! Easy! I mean her no harm," Phoebus tried to reason. Quasimodo, who feared for Esmeralda's well-being, grabbed a burning torch to fend him off with. "No soldiers! Sanctuary! Get out! Go," he angrily shouted. Phoebus backed up and unsheathed his sword for battle. It only took swing for pinning the burning torch Quasimodo had to the wall. "I could have easily lowered that to slice your hand off of you," Phoebus swiftly thought to himself. (Upon being grabbed, Phoebus tries reasoning with Quasimodo again.) "I'll go, but you tell her for me, I didn't mean to trap her here. But it was the only way I could save her life. Will you tell her that? Will you?" Quasimodo's face went pale from a realization that Phoebus is partially responsible for why Esmeralda was not caught. "If you go- now," Quasimodo said to the man. Phoebus watched himself be lowered to the stairs and immediately retracted his sword from the torch it held to the wall. (Before he exits, Phoebus turns to look at Quasimodo one more time.) "Tell Esmeralda she's very lucky... To have a friend like you," he said with one of his confident smiles before exiting.
