Chapter Six: The Fight
Blake and I had been looking all over the town for Serra. It had been maybe thirty minuets. With no sign of her we stopped at an Inn to rest. Blake ordered a bottle of rum and drank it silently as we sat. I looked over at the door when five guards dressed in armor that had the symbol of the city embedded in the chest plate. They all took a seat at one of the table and were talking loudly. I looked over at Blake and he just shrugged and nodded towards the door to indicate that he thought we should leave. I nodded and got up. We started for the door when one of the guards must have noticed my assassin mark.
"Hey look, it's a damned assassin!" One of the guards yelled, his words slightly slurred, he must have been drunk.
"Were off duty, why don't we teach him a lesson on why it's wrong to kill people." Another one said.
I glanced back at the guards just in time to see them getting up. I felt Blake grab onto my shoulder and pull me out into the street. As soon as we were out the five guards burst out of the Inn and chased after us. We ran for the town gate but two more guards stepped out in front of us.
"What the hell is your problem?" Blake yelled as we came to a stop, the other five guards behind us stopped a few feet away drawing their swords.
"Well now, you see just two days ago, our lord was assassinated. Now, we know it was one of the assassins from your guild, because she had the same symbol that you do." One of the guards said. "Linn, go get the captain and everyone else. We're going to have some fun."
"We didn't do anything!" I yelled as one of the other guards ran off.
"Maybe not! But your guild did." The same guard said.
"Hey what's going on here?" I heard someone say. I turned to where the voice was coming from, it was Serra coming out of a store next to us.
"Well, miss dragon, these two are about to get one hell of a beating, most likely to death." The guard said.
"Oh, I see, well you are going to have to get though me first." Serra said drawing her sword.
"You are with them? Your funeral." The guard said.
"Well come on then, what are you waiting for?" She asked.
"Them." The guard said pointing behind us.
I turned and saw a group, at least a dozen or two of guards walking towards us. This city really hates assassins I thought to myself. All the guards circled around us trapping us. One of them stood out, his armor had a golden metallic sheen to it. The guard stepped forward.
"Hello, I am captain Naro, I have heard that one of you is an assassin. Had this assassin over, and the other two can go free." He said.
"Sorry, cannot do that." Serra said.
"Too bad, looks like we have to kill you all then." Naro said.
Serra reached into her pocket and pulled out my dagger. She tossed it back to me. I plucked it out of the air and held it ready to attack or be attacked. Naro stepped back behind the line of guards as the rest of the guards stepped closer to us. I looked over and saw that Blake had his bow out and aimed for a guard. One of the guards was about to charge when a fire ball hit his chest causing him to fall back screaming. A hooded person jumped into into the circle of guards landing right in front of me.
