yort then opened his wings, a pair of ragged, partially torn, ten millennia old leather and lifted off. xiciro did the same, but his wings were not as old as yort; it was still majestic, like a dragon in its prime.

To put it simply, the dragon in question walked towards yort, close enough to deliver the killing blow. the prints near yort suggested that he wasn't aware of his enemy, or he was caught off-guard.
