Chapter Six

Location: Elaria Moon, Ark Facility

Kyle took a deep breath, O'Neill and his team, or those that remained, stood guard at the top. “O'Neill, I'm going to try another reboot. I've managed to clear away most of the biomass, here's to hoping that this'll fix the issue." He said into comms.

“Affirmative Kyle, we're ready when you are." O'Neill responded.

Kyle glared at the dead biomass that surrounded the AI core and then looked at the central core, a gentle blue that flashed crimson red every once in a while. It was circular with wires going to the bigger object up top and a small panel against the glowing blue light. He tapped in several commands and heard the power clicking as power went down in the room. “Alright," He said, praying that this would work, and within a few seconds power returned and the AI's Core light shined a brilliant blue. Kyle waited a full minute, seeing no flashes of crimson red, and breathed a sigh of relief. “O'Neill, I think we got her under control." He said into his communications.

“It would appear so, doors are opening and we're seeing defense grids powering down. We should be able to leave this place." O'Neill's voice responded. “Get back up here and see what you can get from the AI, then we're leaving to regroup with the team uptop!"

Kyle grinned, ear to ear, “You got it!" He responded cheerfully. Another few minutes he was back uptop with O'Neill and his team, a few of them giving smiles and handshakes for fixing the AI. “Reese, respond?" He asked, outloud.

There were a few clicks as the holographic emitters powered up and Reese appeared in front of him. “Scanning for further corruption…...No corruption detected. Thank you sir." She responded.

Kyle chuckled, “Nothing to it, severing the link the parasite had with you seems to have done the trick. So, can you recall what happened here?" He asked.

Reese stared at him, her eyes darting back and forth. “Retrieving data." She said. Within the next minute her eyes stopped darting and she stared directly at him. “Two years ago, Doctor Henry Levin arrived at Biohazard Lab Number One One Dash Three. He brought with him a parasite and a few test subjects. It was under orders from one of the Admirals that it be studied here. During that time I've logged missing scientists and reported it to UGSM High Command however, it seemed my communications about the missing scientists was blocked by someone. Four months ago, there was a security breach by a female scientist, her name was Kathryn Smith. She used her access to the Biohazard Lab Four, located deeper in the facility where Doctor Levin kept the parasites and test subjects. Upon her entering, she deactivated safety measures which allowed a few of those 'things' that Doctor Levin created out, distracting security while she escaped with a young Human Male." Her eyes darted once more then stopped, “Project L is what the young Human was a part of. He had arrived with Doctor Henry Levin two years ago. Upon getting a hold of Project L, the Doctor Smith made her way out of the facility as further security measures took place. I did what I could to lock the facility down, to secure the biohazard. However the parasite proved to be difficult. Within a matter of two hours the organism had grown in biomass, collecting bodies of the personnel that lived here and putting them together. After that, it made it's way to my core room and began Corrupting my files. During that time I performed a force shut down and awaited a rescue team to arrive while also sealing off the lower levels of the facility. Granted the parasite managed to get a few of the experimental Weapons onto this floor and a few infected. At this point a majority of personnel took refuge within the bunkers. Since then, I have lost all contact with them, until a week ago when a transmission was sent to Leben by a Male Scientist. After that, I knew it was only a matter of time before a team responded." She explained.

Kyle whistled and shook his head. “Well, let's radio in our current status. Reese, please open the door and prepare yourself for extraction." He ordered.

“Acknowledged. Deactivating security measures and opening doors. Preparing for extraction." Reese stated as the heavy bulk head door opened.

Kyle walked to the core and a small chip popped out, he grabbed hold of it and pulled it out, then put it into his pockets. He tapped his communications and said, “Kyle to Jack, come in?"

There was a moment of static, then Jack's voice came back through, “This is Jack, we have the remaining survivors and are making our way to the elevator. What's your status?"

Kyle chuckled to himself, “Status is green, we managed to clear the biomass away from the AI and got her fully functioning. She has further information we need and I've extracted her chip. Me and O'Neill's team will meet you at the elevator and we can get out of here." He responded.

“Good to hear!" Jack said, “Make sure to set the facility to self destruct, complete purge Kyle, none of the infected or the hivemind can leave."

“Copy." Kyle said as he cut communication. He made his way over to the control panel against the wall and began to input the command. Within a few minutes, an alarm sounded and lights along the corridors started to flash red.

“Attention all personnel." Came Reese's voice over the intercom. “Please evacuate, purge will commence in T-Minus Thirty minutes."

Kyle looked over at O'Neill and they both nodded as they began to run down the corridor and towards the elevator. Upon arriving, Jack, Vasquez, and the rest of their team stood on the elevator waiting for Kyle's group. Together, they ascended upwards.

“Terra, this is Jack, prep for the Avius for launch immediately. We have survivors and lost a portion of our teams." Jack said into his coms. There was a soft reply and Jack nodded. “Understood, we'll see you soon."

Just as the elevator reached the top floor, Reeses voice said “T-Minus Ten minutes before purge."

They saw the other team, in a firing line, aiming at the elevator and then lower their weapons when they saw the two teams come up. Jack motioned for everyone to run for the entrance and they all bolted. They exited the facility and made their ways back to their ships and they began lift off. Acid rain pelting against the Avius' shields. They ascended higher and higher, going through the planet's atmosphere when there was a brilliant flash behind them. The sky around the Avius began to shimmer with different bands of color, and the Avius shook violently. Within a few minutes they exited the planet's atmosphere and Jack spun the Avius around to take a look. On the planets surface, was a brilliant array of colors and a massive chunk of the mountain that held the facility was now gone. He scoffed as he maneuvered the Avius back to the fleet and towards the Purification. Once they landed, the soldiers on the other ship began to quarantine the survivors they rescued where Doctors began to examine them for any signs of infection.
