Chapter V: Wrath of the Shark, Part Two
Forgive me for I have sinned, forgive me, please forgive me; I'm am sorry. And to think for a while I was doing so good; well when Doctor Who is one and Heaven Sent and Hell Bent double features are on you get a bit distracted, well maybe next week I'll do better.
Chapter Five: Wrath of the Shark, Part Two
As Benji was transported by Scott's team, his mind wondered like a chicken with no cage. He thought back to how he could change this from happening or how he could have done something different, but in his mind he was free to explore the situation. He opened his eyes and he was no longer in a helicopter, he was back in the revolutionary world.
Benji looked around as he stabilized himself, he looked down at his right arm and finally had a sigh of relief. His arm was still there, no need to panic or anything, it wasn't like his life was in danger. Remembering what he was doing, he walked forward down the dark alley looking for the criminal.
He needed some money and catching this guy would majorly help him out with cash influx. He looked at the alley and it appeared to be dark as if trying to warn him. Ignoring that he formed a flashlight in his hand and at the risk of destroying the time space continuum turned the light on.
Benji stood around for a few seconds, and the time space continuum decided not to paradox that was pretty good. He walked forward, shining it around and trying to see which one of the many hermits in the alley were the guy he was looking for. He was looking for one Masie Dilliams, a criminal of her time. Some guy probably wanted him to catch her and then he'd turn her in and get all the credit, not that Benji cared.
The shark walked forward, forming the speed form mask in his hand. He placed it on his face and like before his body changed. His body changed, his back changing as did his arms. He landed on four legs and fur grew out of his skin, his teeth sharpened and he snapped. He was now a wolf, designed to traverse the ground at top speed.
“The hell is that, run, run!" One of Hermits yelled, standing up at the site of the transforming child and quickly running away, dashing at full speed with an infallible goal. Benji ran forward, traveling forward at full speed and passing the homeless. He blocked them on the other side of the alley and instead of running the other way, they stood still in the alley waiting for Benji to react.
“Well it looks like it's time to die, I'm sorry I couldn't protect you." A girl said stepping forward, Benji transformed back to his normal form and watched as the girl appeared before them. He looked at her and she was quite beautiful, had she not been a hermit he might have dated her. Of course, he still wanted Martin, but whatever.
“Hello, it appears that you are wanted by someone. Come with me and I can promise he won't hurt you at all." Benji said as he put out his hand and she took it. She smiled at him and ran forward, quickly pulling a needle out of her pocket and stabbing it into Benji's neck.
The shark fell down and passed out, the woman who may or may not have been named Maisie, grabbing him and wrapping him over her shoulder. She smiled and continued forward, ignoring the hermits as she walked out of the alley, going to drop the specimen of at her lovers house.
“Yeah, like he won't hurt me." She said walking off from the crowd and making sure her target was sedated. Scott would have really hated it if he escaped, he was oh so hungry.
…
Once again Benji awoke with a jolt, barely being distracted. However, he wasn't in a helicopter. He was in a cell. A brick lined, steel rod blocked, honest to goodness cell. Of course if he was right… He spat forward, and of as it passed through the bars a forcefield blocked it.
Looking at his arm it appeared the slice of his arm had healed itself after that death and his arm was completely holed up. No blood and everything appeared to be normal. Skin covered it and it appeared that blood vessels had rearranged themselves to be in optimal condition with what they had.
Standing up Benji felt less weak than before and he seemed to be at 50%, he wobbled around the area waiting for someone to come and interrogate or tell him there evil plan. And he waited and waited, time passing as the metaphorical bread grew on his face.
“Ok, that's enough time. I need to get used to one arm to conduct my powers, let's try this!" Benji said as he formed a chainsaw in his hand and walked forward, pushing it against the metal bars. He sliced into them, cutting them in half, a sadistic smile forming on his face.
However, in his waiting time it appeared that he forgot that the forcefield was there. The chainsaw's metal broke down and as it pushed forward, its blades were ruined. His smile morphed into a frown and he realized he was the exact same place.
“Fine, then. Oh, Scott where are you, why don't you come tell me your evil plan." Benji said with a smile on his face hoping to get some attention directed towards himself. He held the bars and looked both ways out, it appeared to go on forever, never stopping, a prison without an end.
“God, it's so hard to get attention any more. Just have to jump through multiple hurdles to heard an evil plan anymore." Benji said as he tried to entertain himself. He thought about what he did, what was his thing. And the more he thought, the more he realized that even before he died and received his powers. His life was a constant struggle for existence, trying to find shelter and survive muggings.
Repeated attacks on his life and multiple gangs going after him for just existence, if anything his powers gave him purpose in life and he needed that purpose to keep himself going. He sat down and thought about his life, how empty it was and how sad it was.
When he escaped he was going to ask Martin out on a date, he needed to get a life. He couldn't keep focusing on all the violence, he needed to get a life. He needed to force himself down, stop the craziness he was throwing himself into. Only one month in he had already gotten to big, he was already sticking out like a sour thumb.
“Come on, I bored do something already." Benji said as his powers reacted, something forming in his hand. He looked down and it was a yellow walkie-talkie. It had a speaker and it looked to be preset to some sort of signal destination. He didn't act like he knew that his powers would do that.
“And I'm wood, so come on you are the creative one, you may be missing an arm but at least you still have a leg. Fight the power, use your mind. You are the thinker, you are the tinkerer, you find ways in the most magnificent ass pulls." Suddenly on the comms device, Martin's voice came up on the signal.
“Your entire powers are an ass pull, so do something magnificent. Be magnificent, I'll be back." Martian said as he gave the inspiration to Benji he needed. Pulling him out of the hell he was stuck in. Benji's face was struck with a smile of inspiration and he held his hand out the comms cutting to static as it disappeared to make way for the next object.
In his hand standing there, quite simply was a piece of TNT. Tiny piece but if enough energy was added to it say but dropping it on the floor. He held it in his hand, getting ready for his death. He pulled his hand up and then Benji slapped it down.
The shark was knocked back by the explosion. The building bursted out from the energy burst and the glue holding together the brick cell dissolving and letting the bricks fly. Had anyone seen it bricks would have appeared below them too, probably because they were flying over the city.
Benji woke up, his body a bit charred even as he woke up from his death. He stood in the burning pile of wood and bricks and looked around. Judging from the sights around him and how displaced he felt, it looked like he was in present day Philadelphia. Standing up and he looked around and quickly disappeared from the site.
Benji was surprised at what he did, he must have been in a fertilizer factor or something. He escaped from the site, disappearing from the public light and going into the shadows. He disappeared like a ghost and made sure no one would notice him.
Finding himself in the alleys, he started to climb grabbing onto fire escape and climbing up all the way to the top. He looked at the skyline and it was blocked by the smoke of the explosion. He looked around and tried to see if Scott and his teleporting helicopter were around.
Looking around he tried to figure out, what Scott would do. Something told him in the back of his mind that the explosion was planned and they only wanted to make it seem it bigger and help him. He was in an unknown town, that he had no idea where to go. However, he had someone who knew how he thought, could see into his mind.
“Ok, if I was a helicopter where would I be?" Benji asked himself as he tried to find a valid reason that he wouldn't kill Scott on site. He had taken his arm, pushed him to many limits and the shark wanted revenge. There was a sadistic smile on his face, and as he walked forward he realized he did have his phone as if Scott had placed it in his pocket.
Benji was angered by this, pushing his motivation forward. He would be sure to make sure that whatever he did to Scott he would certainly feel it in the morning. He pulled his phone out and pulled up the menu, he shifted into the revolutionary world and found himself on the same building.
He walked forward, pushing himself to do so as he looked around, he climbed over a few buildings and tried to find the tallest point in the city. He needed to find Scott, everything in his body was telling him to do so and he needed to obey his body.
Then shifting again, he heard it. Above him fans swirled around at full speed, wind blast down on the shark's body. Benji almost ducked down as he braced himself for the tornado above him. Traveling at full speed above him was a helicopter and as it flew off towards the north of city, it disappeared into the void.
Benji knew this had to be Scott's helicopter and he quickly formed the Winged Mask in his hand. Placing it on his face, bones grew out of his body and feathers placed themselves over the bone. They multiplied and Benji stood on top of the building with a set of four wings.
Jumping off the building, he spread his wings and let the air caught beneath them. He was pulled up and he continued to flap, flying away at full speed as he pulled out his phone and with a push and a click, he flew through and entered the next dimension.
He saw the helicopter flying forward and he could only image the temporal headache this was going to create. He landed on a building and kept his momentum, running forward and building up speed as he viewed the helicopter before him.
Benji kept pushing himself forward, pushing himself for revenge and just the sweat taste of revenge that he wanted to give to Scott. He needed the revenge, it was pushing him forward. The idea of giving everything back to Scott was so tantalizing and he needed it.
…
“Good job, Mr. Byrn. I am sure your little Benji, just needed that motivation. Now as for you and your battalion of BOO members, you pose little to minimal threat to me and my plans. But I'm sure Benji will love the motivation, so enjoy your metal box." Scott Noonan said as two of his solider, raised a metal wall and closed it in.
Inside of the metal box, was the normal collection of BOO members. One of the them happened to be a lizard, who you would know as Martin, Martin Byrn. After gathering outside the remains of Scott's revolutionary mansion, they were spotted when the Helicopter traveled into the present world.
Soon enough they were trapped by a large battalion of Scott's soldiers and soon enough they too were taken to Philadelphia too. Scott had told them they were to motivate Benji, and he would need the motivation if he wanted to find them or else they would end up being his meals instead of Benji.
“What are we going to do Boss, are we going to break out, you can certainly break the box with your powers boss." One of the BOO soldiers said as they thought and contemplated about their objective. It was more like how they were going to complete their objective, which was to live.
“We're going to stay here; Benji is going to rescue us. I could escape and if any of you are in real danger, I will. However, this is between Scott and Benji, we are his motivation to push him further. We are only collateral damage in this case, and in that case we need to stay in this case." Martin said as he breathed through his mask, he tried to slow down his breathing knowing he would be taking more air than they had.
“Come on, this box might be sealed, we should at least get a crack so we can refresh our air." Martin said, as he shifted his body wait. As he did so, there was the sound of spinning blades above them. Martin's body shifted and he leaned against the wall. “I'm just going to open up the box for a crack of air."
Martin walked over to the wall and pushed against the top of the box, looking for a weak point. He clicked his hand over the box and pushed forward, adding his super speed to the hit. The box bent a bit and some sunlight was let into the box, as well as a fresh flow of oxygen.
Martin looked at his hand and it was a bit bloody, he ignored it knowing he did good and sat down breathing in the compressed air but still enjoying the smells that came with it. Sitting down he mediated gathering his thoughts as the helicopter flew faster.
A green light flashed and the smell of oxygen in the box changed. It was different now stranger, as if they travelled to a different time. He realized Scott had dimension shifting powers and figured out he might have been a bigger threat than Benji was letting on. Anyone with the ability to shift dimensions had the power for a reason.
“Now then all three of you, I sense that Benji is coming for us now. He is so close yet so far. And in the future I can sense something happening, a rift, a gunshot and a bell." Martin said as his eyes glowed green, illuminating the box and shining through his mask. All the compressed oxygen must have been getting to him, he stopped and his so did his glowing eyes.
“Boss are you ok, that only happens when…" One of the grunts said as he leaned over and supported Martin on his hands. The masked lizard looked a little out of it and he didn't seem aware of himself. However, he pushed him off and stood free to himself.
“That only happens when something had is going to happen, we need to prepare. See if you can get all BOO operatives within a two-hundred kilometer radius on this helicopter, get anti-air missiles, if we have to we will blast this vehicle out of the sky." Martin said as the two agents before him, pulled out a large yellow box and aimed two beacons in other directions.
“Ok, point both towards the hole, if we have to we can spin this box around in order to propagate the signal." Martin said as he adjusted the beacons on the box making sure they pointed outwards. If Scott was using an anti-transmission beacon, they would know but until that was confirmed they had hope.
Martin believed in Benji and knew he could come and save them. However, he needed some help even Martin knew that and so did Benji on the inside. If he had to stop Scott with a missile and it killed him too, it would be for the greater good. No net loss would be given to equilibrium.
He thought about what he was going to do when he escaped and maybe he would ask Benji out for a date. He smiled thinking about the shark and he wanted to escape from the hell that Scott put them in but for now he needed to be realistic. He adjusted the signal and managed to form a connection with a BOO outpost.
“Hello this is Big Boss; we have a delta-one-fives situation. We literally need everything you can give us, and no I don't care about how much it cost, we are dealing with Scott. This could be the biggest capture we need. Approval Code: Jefferson, Madison, Banks." Martin said to his commander on the other side of the line, they should have stayed in communication or at least track the helicopter.
And with that as the Helicopter left the Philadelphia area and started to enter the rural areas of Pennsylvania, Martin laid back against the steel wall and thought about England or something. Either way then his hands were in the faith of Benji and the BOO operatives. He sighed realizing how crazy that way.
…
Benji flew at full speed, flapping his wings and keeping up with the helicopter as it traversed the Philadelphian skyline, passing between buildings and making it ways north presumably towards New York or Boston. He followed it wondering why it came all the way to Philadelphia if it was just going to go back unless it came to receive something and he was just something they could get rid of.
“Now then, come on let's go!" Benji yelled as he twisted and turned flapping his wings, trying to catch up with the helicopter. He was close but he would need something faster. Even wings couldn't keep up with a helicopter. Looking on the helicopter, there appeared to be a metal box below it; he figured someone important would be in there.
Looking around he probably should have called for BOO support, or Outsider support maybe even the armies of hell would have helped him but now he was alone, even as he flew through the sky. He twisted his body around and pushed himself forward.
He saw the helicopter pass through the barrier and pass into the rural area of the city. Benji yet pushed on but as he passed through the last suburb area, barely flying and more like gliding to keep up, a convoy of camo covered trucks appeared below him.
Benji realized the markings and pointed downwards, trading off his altitude for speed and then slowing himself down. He gracefully fell onto the top of the convoy Jeeps and stabilized himself. He grabbed the side and forced himself into the jeep.
“Hello BOO operatives, what do you have for me?" Benji said as he took his mask off, the wings disappearing. He introduced himself and waved around his stub arm. They looked at him for a second before recognizing him and seeing him.
“Ah yes Benji sorry, we couldn't see you. Your face is a bit dirty." One of the BOO scientists said as the jeep sped up. The scientist grabbing a cloth, wiped of Benji's face cleaning off the many layers of dirt, sweat and explosion that had accumulated.
“Now then, we have info that Martin and three other agents are in that boxcar below the helicopter, do you think if we shoot the connection, you can hold the car and land it on the ground?" The scientist said as he pointed to the gun in the car. It would certainly be able to shoot the box, but he was the limiting equation here.
“Maybe, I might be able to slow it but I don't have a jetpack, I can barely lift myself yet a metal box and four people. You didn't bring any jet pack masks with you, did you?" Benji said as he was scanned by a medical scanner, the thing made some strange beeping sounds but the shark didn't understand them.
“Ok, you are really a balancing act. Your entire body is malfunctioning, one of your ear drums are blasted opened. A kidney has shut down and one of your lungs is punctured. One your hearts is beating three times a second, the other has shut down and two of your heart arteries are clogged." The scientist said as he scanned Benji.
“And the point is, just kill me again and I'll turn out fine again." Benji said as he suddenly got a pain in his side, he gasped and held it. “Ok kidney, I know you want some attention but Martin comes first. Can I get painkillers please?"
“Here you go, you might want to avoid death because if you do now you'll have to wait until all that is fixed, but at least you'll have a good death." The scientist said as he handed Benji a set of two pills. “Now then, speaking of things that can be fixed we can't give you a new hand but here you go. Martin made sure we knew where he hid this."
One of the other BOO operatives grabbed something from a bag and brought it over. It was obviously a prosthetic arm, it was red and seemed to be advanced. The scientist held it and Benji held out his stub arm.
“Now then this might hurt a bit, it's going to have to reopen and close the wound, but once it is one it should be all connected." The scientist said as he placed the arm on Benji's hand, he winced a bit as he held the mechanics connect to his body, joining to his blood vessels and nerves. He closed his eyes and when he opened them again, he felt all connected.
“Now then on your arm is military grade equipment, literally. It is given to soldiers who lose their main arm on the battlefield. I won't bore you with a list of features, but you should be able to figure it out one at a time." The scientist said as the arm suddenly transformed and it formed a pulse gun instead of a hand. Benji's face lit up with a smile. “Martin said you might enjoy that a bit."
“He would be right about that." Benji said as he looked at the gun. It switched back to a hand and then to a blade. He smiled at it and enjoyed the feeling of it transferring modes. He had no idea what to do but knowing Martin picked it for him, he felt better.
“Well then, let's see what we can do with this. Remind me what do the rear rotors on a helicopter do?" Benji said as he stuck his head out and looked at the helicopter the convoy was keeping good speed with. He knew what he could do, what he wanted to do and what the safest thing to do was, and none of them were the same.
“Now then stay behind him, god knows where that thing is going to come down." Benji said as with his new hand, he grabbed the edge of the jeep and pulled himself out. He climbed out onto the top of the vehicle and looked up at the vehicle.
In his mind he had no official plan, but making it look like he had though out an idea would look a little better in the papers. So he formed his wing mask, and placed it on the four wings on his back reappearing. Benji ran forward, the scientist looking at him and doing some calculations.
Benji jumped up and off the car, pushing all his wings back and gaining speed as his altitude raised. His body was pulled up as he gave himself all the energy he needed, gliding behind the helicopter. Looking up he pushed himself forward and he was nearly below the helicopter.
With his arm he fired his hand upward and it grabbed onto the edge of the helicopter. Connected with a string, he stopped flying and let the string pull him in towards his objective. Taking a moment to relax, he passed the metal box and knocked on it.
Then the gun shots started, he quickly swung out of the way to avoid them, knocking himself and passing under the tail of the helicopter. Ducking under, as he passed to the other side his hand detached from the copter and he was back to falling. With his non-mechanical hand he grabbed the edge of the box and pulled himself up onto the box.
Ducking under gunfire, he stood underneath the helicopter on the box. Benji grabbed the wire connecting the box and the helicopter and stood still as he collected his thoughts for a moment. Looking at the box he saw one of its walls pushed out. He attached himself to the wire with his hand.
The shark walked over to the edge off the box and peaked his head near the hole. He looked into the box and suddenly Martin stood up behind him. The lizard, initially frightened turned around and had a relaxed and relieved look on his face, Benji just wished he could have walked in and hugged him.
“Hello." Benji said introducing himself as he peered into the window and making sure Martin was okay.
“Hello, how are you?" Martin asked as he looked out into the world, trapped within a box.
“Good, just dying. Need to save everyone before I expire again." Benji said as he bantered a bit with Martin.
“Oh, well then maybe afterwards do you think…" Martin said, his face turning red through the mask. Not that Benji could notice, the box was far too dark for him to see the big details.
“Do you think we could go on a date after all of this, once I deal with all the madmen and stuff." Benji said returning the blushing as well, not that Martin could notice either. Behind him clouds were gathering, darkening and collecting.
“I think that's a yes." Both of them said, before stopping and then laughing at each other.
“Now then, I'm going to have to save you." Benji said as he waved bye and pulled his head away, going back to standing on the box. Secretly he did a bit of a dance on top of the box, unknown to him Martin could hear it as well. Benji formed his metal shark mask and placed it on his face.
He extended his fins and he looked at his hand. It looked like the metal body had built itself around the arm and was built for it. He looked at the feat for his mask completed and fired out his arm. His hand dispatched and it worked like it was normally intended to so.
Benji decided to put his plan into action and he jumped up onto the side of the helicopter grabbing the edge. He ignored his pain and pulled himself over the edge and into the base of the copter. The gun shots just bounced off his body and he instead grabbed one of the guards.
Looking at them he savored the moment and threw them off, as he approached the other one, he grabbed a parachute and exited the helicopter. Looking forward both of them were going to be captured by the BOO operatives. He looked around and Scott was in the front seat.
Benji formed a gun in his hand and walked over to the door. Entering the pilot room, he stuck the gun against the pilot's head and flashed Scott a smile knowing he had won.
“Well now, now, now Mr. Noonan it appears that the game has slid into my hand." Benji said as he nodded at the land button. In a few minutes it appeared that the helicopter would land and it did. Benji captured Scott and tied him up with a few spare clip ties and everyone was all nice and captured.
“You can't get away with this; my forces will chase you forever. You'll never be safe if you do this. I will get you!" Scott said as Benji grabbed him and pulled him, despite his struggling, Benji in his metal shark form was easily able to carry him and pull him out of the copter.
“Yeah, Yeah, maybe you can get your revenge in the next life." Benji said as he landed on the ground, they were in a field and it seemed like a nice place. Benji took Scott out to the middle of the field and laid him down making sure he couldn't get away. As it looked the other BOO operatives were releasing Martin and his agents.
“You don't want to do this, you really don't." Scott said becoming increasingly more worried as he struggled around on the ground. Benji decided to help him, putting him up Indian style and making sure his hands and back were restrained to his legs.
“Now then, how ironic do I find it that in taking away my arm you have only made me more powerful." Benji said as he took of his shark mask, the metal on his body flying off and hitting Scott. He put his mask away and instead held up his prosthetic hand.
“Slowly, every second passing here I can fell this hand becoming more and more a part of me. Slowly it's mechanical exoskeleton mending to my bones and it slowly gaining energy from my quickly failing body." Benji said reminding himself as he felt for two heart beats but only found one.
He put his hand up and tightened his fist, it transformed turning into a pulsar gun. Benji savored the moment that was about to happen, he looked at the pulsar gun, sticking out from his hand. A parallelogram shaped opening spreading out into a shaft, leading to an energy magnifier.
The shark grinned as he began the energy pulse, he made sure it would hurt as it slow dissolved the man's body. He pointed it at Scott's head making sure he felt the energy, slowly firing his hair off and making a large bald spot. Benji laughed like a hyena, and then he felt it.
“No, you can't kill him!" Martin yelled out as Benji aimed the pulse at Scott. He stood still realizing what was happening, slowing down his pulsar but making sure Scott knew he was still in trouble by how close the gun was too his head, his squishy watermelon head.
“I need to do this, he is monster. He eats people; this is not the kind of person we can put in a jail. He has too many connections, to many people loyal to him, too much to lose. This needs to end now!" Benji yelled at Martin, he had the feeling Martin would disagree with his method for disposing him. He held the gun to Scott's head making sure the man wouldn't try to run.
“This can't end like this, he has a life. He is worth something to somebody." Martin said as he grabbed Benji's gun and tried to point it at the ground. Benji looked destroyed and conflicted, he needed to deal with this and end this now. However, he didn't want to hurt Martin, but he needed revenge.
“I need revenge, he killed so many people and took away my arm, but I don't want to hurt you. I can't find a way out, me or you, me or you, me or you!" Benji said as he spoke to himself and Martin trying to decide which side would be better. He knew what he needed to do.
“Let's go." Benji said as he grabbed Martin's back with his good hand and walked away. As they walked away from the still restrained Scott, he turned around and fired one blast. Martin looked back and screamed as the pulse hit. Scott's body exploded in a fiery blast, every part of his body dissolving and turning to ash.
“NO!" Martin cried out as he looked at Benji, he looked like a monster with the sadistic grin and gun pointing at the ashes. Benji turned back towards Martin and he looked for forgiveness, but it he was expecting it would not come to him. However, his face turned to pain and he fell on Martin.
He always expected Benji to fall for him, but never like that. He felt Benji for a pulse and there was none from either of his hearts. He knew Benji could survive death but to him it felt all the same. Death was always the end of a story and the beginning of something new.
He placed Benji down on the ground to allow him the healing process to begin. He wanted to stick by his ideals but he was in love with what the relation between him and Benji could be. He looked at the shark and signed thinking about what he was going to do and how he was going to manage.
The lizard stood up and walked away from the situation, he need to get out and think about what happened and if Benji was really the life he wanted to have. However, even with Scott's end, there were more sinister things brewing.
…
“Tick, Tock goes the clock; escape was only easy." A shark, Bright said as he pulled himself out of a brick collapse. He was in Philadelphia, finally free from his brick and mortar prison. An explosion had freed him. “Tick, Tock goes the clock; I hope I make you queasy." HisHGisdHis His
He walked off away from the collapse of prison, deciding to walk northwards making his way towards the next piece of his destiny. All the way he would sing verses of his song making sure everyone who could hear him or would listen to him would know.
“Tick, Tock goes the clock; dragons will run the city."
“Tick, Tock goes the clock; I'll give Benji some pity."
