The Equinox: Preview
It's been a while since I posted and talked about it, but I do have a patreon. After a recent hyperfixation on something related to Disney Gargoyles, I decided to write up something quick for it. If you want to get an early look at it, head on over to https://www.patreon.com/c/GryphWriting and get a good look at it there. If you're interested, I have a discord over at https://discord.gg/eQ5ZA5Xm where I'll post commission openings, chat, etc.
“So, have we a good meal today?” Brooklyn looked up at the voice. The male gargoyle felt his heart shudder with delight as Katana walked into the campsite. Firelight dancing over her beautiful, sky blue hide as she found her seat.
He tilted his head ever so slightly, “I got some vegetables and some rice we’d gotten in China last week.” He nodded towards the small pot by the fire. “I miss a good slice of pizza,” he breathed out a sigh.
A pleased noise, “They’ll go well with these.” She held up some rabbits. “And you mention your pizza before. Said what you made was not close enough.” Yeah, that had been a bad idea. He couldn’t do bread, let alone a good pizza dough. He still didn’t know what he’d even been thinking about with those toppings he’d tried to use. Sitting down, Katana paused a beat before asking, “Was it just me, or was that rougher than usual?” Barely looking at the animals as she prepared them for cooking.
“Rougher how?”
She settled down and let out curious little noise. “Not rougher, bad word. Ah… Different? More fluttery? I felt a,” her fingers wiggled around her torso, “shiver as we landed...” she turned and looked around. “Whenever this is.” Brooklyn looked around as well. They were in the mountains. He wasn’t sure what country, geography hadn’t been his strong suit. It did make him miss Lexington, though he wasn’t sure how useful his computer-loving buddy would be right now.
Brooklyn still didn’t fully know what had started him down this path, these adventures. He was on top of a building, the Phoenix Gate opened up, and he was thrown through time and space. Rinse and repeat. Gate opens, he goes through, and then ends up somewhere. Sometimes he could summon it, sometimes not. His end goal was to get his hands on the Phoenix gate itself so he could get back home. At the very least, he wasn’t traveling alone. Fu Dog was watching from beside the fire, tail swaying lazily. Katana sitting across from him, patiently waiting on his response.
“Yeah, it was different,” he breathed. “Just wish I could control it.” He looked down at his hands and ran his fingers together. So close, he’d gotten so close to touching it that time.
Katana reached over and brushed her hand over his gently. “I know, and you are trying, my red beast.” She flashed a little smile and he felt his heart flutter again. Hand rolled and fingers linked together. She smiled, his mate smiled at him and breathed out a pleasant little noise. “At least we are near hot springs this time. Will be good to relax.”
His nose wrinkled playfully, “You and your hot springs.”
She mirrored his expression, “Yes, me and my hot springs. They are relaxing_. Intimate_ Why, do you not wish to join and…” Katana rolled her shoulders with a smile. Her robe slid off a shoulder as she purred a single word, “snuggle?”
Oh that word. That one simple word was enough to light his loins ablaze. He felt his manhood twitch and stir under his loin cloth. Something that she noticed as well with a smile. Her thumb played over his fingers as she breathed out a quiet, “Meal first, my love. Then we can relax under the stars for tonight. Explore the area come tomorrow. Yes?” She lifted her head and looked around, “Sunrise is still a couple hours off.”
He could feel it too. That instinct every gargoyle was born with. An innate sense for where the sun was, and how much time remained until it rose and set. It was a strange thing, he’d found out. Sailing didn’t bother his sense of time. Flying in a plane could throw it way off, and leave him rather out of it. Travel by magic? Something about that seemed to gel with his senses, and never once threw his timing off. Katana, it seemed, was in the same boat.
“We should be safe enough here during the day,” he breathed and smiled at her.
She nodded and pulled away to fix the rabbits by the fire. Leaning forward to check the small, impromptu pot he’d set up. “There weren’t signs of anyone else in the area.” A nod as she slid the lid back into place, “You didn’t mess it up.”
"Truly, a high compliment." Brooklyn laughed as her tail swept up and tapped his nose. "See, I can learn. Even if it takes a little more time here and there."
She turned and almost purred at him, "Oh is that so?" In a smooth motion, she turned and slid into his lap. Sash coming undone so her robe slid across her smooth hide and whispered against his. Brooklyn let out a quiet huff as he leaned back, hands sliding over her bare thighs. He breathed an affirmative as she calmly used her tail to lift his loincloth. "Have we learned restraint yet?" She slid so smoothly into position, it was incredible. Thighs gently pressed to his hips. Robe opening just enough to expose some of her body, but not all of it.
