Part 1
Bronze Bell Coffee was a unique little coffee shop tucked away between two larger department stores. Sean, who had worked at Bronze Bell for about a month now, was just starting to get the hang of his new job. Sean was a pretty short guy standing at only five foot four, so sometimes when a customer walked in they didn't even see Sean behind the counter.
*Ringa ding!*
The cheerful sound of the front door opening and closing distracted Sean from the coffee machine he was working at. A quick glance over his shoulder should have alerted Sean to the presence of a customer standing at the front door, or at least heading towards the lounge, but instead Sean didn't see anybody. "Huh?" Sean said and shrugged as he went back to working on the variety of warm and cold coffee brews he would need throughout the day.
"I could watch you work all day long," a familiar voice said from behind the food counter. Sean jumped a bit in response to the sudden realization that he wasn't alone after all.
"Ah!" Sean exclaimed in surprise as he twirled around to look at whoever had just spoken. "L... Logan!" Sean said as he spotted a tall, blonde-haired man leaning over the large food case situated to the left of the area where Sean was working. "What are you doing here Hun?" Sean asked and blushed slightly at the sudden and quite unexpected appearance of his boyfriend.
As usual Logan was wearing one his skin-tight polo shirts and a pair of khaki cargo pants. The polo shirt left little of his muscular physique to the imagination, and Logan had muscle in spades. A fairly dense five-o-clock shadow covered most of Logan's cheeks, jaw, and even a little of his neck down towards the unbuttoned neck of his shirt. Sometimes Sean wondered what a muscular stud like Logan saw in him, but judging from the slightly hungry way Logan watched Sean work it was pretty obvious that he liked what he was looking at.
"I saw that a new gym opened up next door and I thought I would ask if they needed any help." Logan said with his usual confident voice, but Sean knew his boyfriend well enough to hear the slight flicker of doubt behind his words.
"And I guess they didn't, hmmm?" Sean asked and glanced over his shoulder just in time to catch the frown that marred Logan's otherwise handsome face.
"How did you know?" Logan asked.
"You'd be bragging a lot more if you had gotten the job." Sean replied and chuckled at his boyfriend's cute huff.
It was Logan's turn to watch for a moment as his cute little boyfriend worked away at the various boilers, brewers, and other machines that made the copious bitter liquids that brought people to Bronze Bell. It was still a little too early for the usual crowd, but it wasn't a big surprise to see that Sean had been making drinks all morning long. Sean was short, but he was light on his feet too. Sean also had dark red-brown hair that he kept tied up in a pony tail. Logan couldn't help but to smile as his eyes followed the line of Sean's pony tail down to the barista's apron. A super cute bow was tied just above Sean's ass causing the strings to highlight the shorter male's hips and butt. Speaking of butts, Sean had always had *the* cutest perky little bubble butt that Logan had ever seen. The fact that Sean worked out quite regularly, and knowing how juicy those cheeks were, only made Logan like Sean that much more.
"Hey meat-head, do you mind getting off my cold-case?"
Logan instantly frowned as he turned around and saw the one person he didn't like running into at Sean's work. "Oh, hey Brett," Logan said sourly and tired his best to ignore the tone of Brett's previous statement. The two of them exchanged a cold glare before Brett slipped behind the counter and set to work right alongside Sean.
Brett was about as tall as Logan was, and in a similar sort of way the two of them actually looked a lot alike. Brett was tall with blonde hair just like Logan, but he kept his much longer and pulled back into a pony tail like Sean did when they were working. Sean had always secretly thought the thick blonde hair on Brett's arms was cute, but for sure Logan was the better looking of the two. However, from what Logan had told Sean about Brett the other male's body fuzz wasn't limited to his arms either. The fact that Logan and Brett had once dated didn't faze Sean too much. He was pretty sure that the two of them hadn't gotten along too well.
"Hello Brett," Sean said cheerfully while pretending not to sense the tension between Logan and his co-worker. "I didn't know you were scheduled to come in this so today..."
"Well I'm here now, so don't worry about the coffee ok? I'll probably just have to re-brew everything you made this morning anyways..."
Sean was used to Brett's negative opinion about the quality of his work, but Logan hadn't heard much from Brett for a while now. He was used to his ex being cold towards him, but hearing Brett mouth off to Sean made Logan a little hot under the collar. "Hey," Logan said as he reached over the cold case and nudged Brett a little roughly, "that's my boyfriend you're mouthing off at."
Sean turned around just in time to see Brett's eyes go wide and then narrow angrily. "What the hell Logan!?" Brett said gruffly and held his arms out as he backed away from Logan's reach. "You don't even work here, so keep your opinion and your hands on *that* side of the counter!"
"Whoa! Guys!" Sean said as he quickly stepped between the two cute, and angry, blondes. It was probably a little funny to see a guy Sean's size come between a pair of larger guys, but nobody was around except the three of them. "It's cool if Brett doesn't want to keep my coffee." Sean said and tried to defuse the tension between the two guys. "Besides, you two are both *way* too hot to be fighting around me. Ok? I can't make coffee and watch two blonde hunks go at each other."
Sean didn't know what it was that he had said that did it, but Brett and Logan both calmed down a lot after that. They even started to get along a little once Sean made Logan start helping him pull down some of the larger, heavier boxes of supplies and coffee in the storage room. In fact, Logan was so helpful that when Sean and Brett's boss arrived that afternoon he offered to hire Logan to help out with the storage area. Sean was excited to have a chance to work with his boyfriend, and even Brett had to admit that some help with the growing mountain of supplies would be a relief.
A few hours after later, as he and Logan finished stacking up some of the boxes that had been piling up in the floor of the supply room, Sean happened to glance over at his boyfriend and smile confidently. "I had a feeling you'd find a job soon. I just didn't think it would be at my work."
By this time in the afternoon Logan was starting to look more than a little scruffy, but thankfully a little facial fuzz wasn't a big deal when you worked in a coffee shop. "Thanks for stopping me earlier," Logan said and for the first time that day looked a little guilty about what had happened between him and Brett. "If I'd started a fight with Brett... well... I certainly wouldn't be working here now."
"I guess not, but I *was* able to get you guys to back off. Pretty impressive if you don't mind me saying." Sean was a still little impressed with himself and how he had handled the situation.
"You are pretty awesome," Logan said and smiled, but his smile faded pretty fast as his mind wondered back to that morning's events. "Hey Sean, something you said is bugging me though."
"Oh yea?" Sean said and put down the box he was moving to look at his boyfriend. Logan looked really serious right now, and that was unusual for him.
"Yea... you said Brett was a hunk. What do you even like about him?" Logan actually looked a little worried as he glanced first down at the floor and then at his boyfriend.
"Oh that? That was just me trying to say something to get Brett to calm down." Sean frowned as he thought for a moment, "but Brett is a pretty cute guy. I guess I just like guys with blonde hair and some hair on their chest. I remember you telling me he's sorta a hairy guy, and I guess I just always thought that would be hot on a guy. You know?" Sean laughed a little nervously and leaned up to give his boyfriend a quick peck on his scruffy cheek. "But it's not like I don't like you too Hun." Sean said and looked up at his nervous boyfriend. "You're just as hot if not a little better-looking than he is."
"Thanks," Logan said and smiled despite how nervous he felt. Sean was called back up front to fill some orders at the counter, but Logan was left alone in the back pondering his boyfriend's words. A quick trip to the bathroom found Logan tugging the collar of his shirt down enough to highlight the sparse blonde hairs that covered his chest. Sure, Logan had a decent amount of body hair, but it wasn't anything more than what most men had.
A great sigh escaped the muscular stud's lips as he walked back into the store room and looked up at the disorganized mountain of boxes. "If Brett worked out more he'd look pretty much like I do... except probably hotter to Sean..." Logan said to himself as he stared at the space of wall between the hallway that led to the coffee shop and the doorway that opened up into the boss's office. Right above the empty space was a little bronze cowbell hanging from an ornamental plaque that Logan hadn't honestly noticed until now. "Heh," the stud said and smiled as he quickly crossed the store room and reached up towards the little bell. "I guess this thing is why they call this place the 'Bronze Bell' huh?"
Logan's finger tip had just touched the tip of the bell when the sound of Sean shouting out his name caused the man to jump slightly. Logan's hand knocked the small bell loose of the little hook that held it causing it to fall to the floor and ring about a dozen times before it slid across the floor and was lost to the mess of the storage room. "Damn it!" Logan cursed as he watched the bell slide across the floor. "I'd better go... whoa!"
A strange sensation, like his whole body had just cramped up, made Logan teeter uneasily and lurch over as a wave of nausea washed over him. A queer tightness in his chest and back made Logan groan and then look up at the bathroom door. It was nearly all Logan could do to reach the bathroom and pull the door closed behind him before falling to the floor and clutching himself from the sheer agony he was feeling.
Wave after wave of hot, searing heat swept through Logan's body causing his muscles to clench and unclench far harder than he had ever felt while working out. In the space of a few minutes his chest began to heave up and down with his labored and ragged breathing, but each time he breathed in his chest seemed to swell a bit larger and bulge a bit more tightly against his polo shirt. "Oh, oh fuck!" Logan groaned as he tried to clutch at the edges of his shirt, only something was wrong with his fingers now.
"No, oh no!" Logan said in horror when he saw his hand and why he couldn't grip the sides of his shirt with it. His pinky and ring finger were slowly merging together along with his middle and index finger. After a few short moments Logan had lost two of his fingers and gained quite a bit of girth to the three that still remained. Even more shocking though was the hard black caps growing on the ends of his new, thick, fat fingers. The only thing the hard black masses reminded Logan of were hooves... cow hooves. "Nooo!" Logan bellowed only to stop short at the sound of his own voice.
The problem with Logan's shirt was solved mere moments after he was distracted by the growth of hooves on his three fingers. An audible ripping sound made Logan look down at his polo shirt just in time to watch as it began to tear down the front from the sheer mass of Logan's growing pectoral muscles. Only... now that Logan was looking down at himself he wasn't too sure that he could make out the muscles anymore now that his shirt wasn't covering them. This was because before now the fabric had been outlining the growing muscles. Now that his chest was free from the confining cotton fabric a veritable forest of dark-blonde hair had burst forth from Logan's skin. The hair... well fur really... was so thick and shaggy on his chest that it was actually forming a protruding shaggy matt that actually made Logan's chest look even bigger than before. The shaggy matt of fur formed a trail that quickly grew down towards the man's tightening pants. It was at about that moment that Logan's eyes widened again as the tightness in that area began to grow uncomfortable.
This time, with an unnatural amount of strength, Logan was able to reach down a actually rip away the fabric of his cargo pants. This did a great job of relieving the tightness he felt, but when more thick blonde fur exploded from his groin Logan was left huffing in an entirely new sort of way. A pulse of pleasure came from the man's liberated testicles which rapidly doubled and then doubled again in size. Once they were done growing the same stupidly thick blonde fur rapidly covered the twin orbs in a layer of hair so thick that Logan couldn't actually see them unless he reached into the thick fur and pulled them away from his crotch.
"Oh no... no no!" Logan groaned in his low, almost unnaturally low, voice. His newest protests were in response to the sudden surge of tightness in his shoes. Logan didn't want to take them off, but the pain was only getting worse as he hesitated. Using his thick, and surprisingly strong, fingers Logan practically tore his shoes off his feet only to watch in mute horror as his socks were promptly shredded by the expanding mass of his feet.
Just as with his hands his toes were somehow fusing into one thicker, far stronger mass of bone. And then his toes seemed to almost click into place as what he could only describe as a hoof grew over the tops of them. Logan thought for a moment that he would likely lose all vestiges of his human-shaped feet, but somehow after growing hooves in place of his toes the changes just stopped, and then the same thick, dense blond hair began to explode from the already thick hair growing on Logan's legs.
For a few moments Logan actually just sat on the floor in mute shock, but as soon as he thought everything was over a force that was easily ten times more painful than anything he had felt so far slammed into his head. Logan actually bellowed like a damn bull as he bent over in pain again. His neck muscles were clenching again and thickening in preparation for what was about to happen next. Logan felt the blood on his face before he thought to reach up and feel his forehead. That was about when he realized what was going on. Hoof-hands... hoof-feet... muscles... crazy thick fur... it all clicked into place as his horns finished their own growth spurt. Logan couldn't believe what had just happened... he had somehow turned into some sort of bull-monster!
Part 2
Sean was a little worried, he was pretty sure that he hadn't seen Logan leave the coffee shop, but after looking for him for a while it was pretty evident that Logan was gone. "Guess the meathead stood you up eh?" Brett said after Sean returned to the front of the shop.
"I... I don't know what's going on..." Sean said a little sadly. "I guess he had something he had to go do... or something."
Brett rolled his eyes as he turned around from the coffee machine he was cleaning. He fixed Sean with a stern frown before letting out a great big sight. "That's right... probably some *body* more important if you know what I mean." Brett said and returned to his work. "I know you only just hooked up with Logan, but he's not as nice a guy as you probably think. He can be a real bully when he wants to be."
Neither Brett nor Sean knew quite how ironic that statement was at the moment. "But he's always such a sweetheart when he's around me." Sean said and started washing some dishes. "I'm sure he just had something pressing he had to do..."
The sound of boxes falling in the back room distracted the guys for a moment. "Probably just that stray cat..." Brett said and frowned.
"... we were going to work out after work... I thought it was something he really wanted to do."
"Oh my god!" Brett said and groaned. "If I go with you will you *please* stop whining about Logan!? If I have to listen to you humm and ho over him for the next hour I'm going to have a headache for the rest of the night.
Sean was surprised by Brett's offer, but he was still worried about Logan. "Well... since you offered I guess I could use a gym partner..."
It wasn't much longer before the guys had the coffee shop closed up. It was a pretty short walk next door to the gym, so after work Brett walked right over with Sean without even thinking much about what it might look like to somebody who was watching from a nearby alleyway.
A few moments after Sean and Brett had walked past the ally between the coffee shop and the gym an angry snort punctuated the otherwise quiet afternoon. "That god-damned long-haired...!" A meaty three-fingered fist slammed into the side of the concrete gym building with enough force to cause a few flecks of concrete to splinter off and fall to the ground. The creature who had just punched the wall looked at his new fist in awe and then shook his horned head. "Why of all the people did he have to ask HIM to work out with him!?"
Of course Logan had heard everything that had happened between Sean and Brett at the coffee shop. Logan had been hiding in the back room the whole time that they guys had been closing shop. Almost as soon as he had finished changing into... whatever he was now... Logan had done his best to hide his shredded clothes and keep a low profile until he knew he could sneak around a bit easier. It didn't help matters that the coffee shop closed a little past three in the afternoon. Now Logan was worried that if he even tried to walk out into the open that somebody would find him and call the police.
"What happened to me?" Logan asked himself for the hundredth time that afternoon and stared down at his leathery hair-and-hoof covered hands. After the initial change things had slowed down a lot, but Logan swore he was still somehow... growing. And not just in a height way either, but he was certainly taller than before too. No, Logan was pretty sure he was actually getting more muscular as the afternoon passed. It hadn't been too obvious at first, but after a few hours Logan felt a lot stronger than he had right after the transformation. On top of that, he swore his arms and shoulders looked... beefier... no pun intended.
A quick glance at the locked-up coffee shop made Logan's mind race through everything that had happened that day. First he had asked for a job at the gym. That hadn't gone well, so he had gone over to flirt with Sean. Then that ass-wipe Brett had pissed Logan off, and then Logan had gotten a job somehow. As crazy as it seemed Logan could only barely remember stacking boxes with Sean until he had... a faint ringing sound made Logan flinch slightly as a queer stretching sensation swept through his body. After a sort shudder Logan felt his muscles flex larger and then the horns on his head ached slightly and seemed to get a tad be heavier. "The Bell! It's gotta be the bell!"
Back inside the gym Sean was actually having a pretty good workout with Brett. After they had started doing some familiar exercises Brett's mood had seemed to lift a lot. Everything was going really well until they finished an awesome set of bench presses. "I can't believe I can lift that much!" Brett said as he jumped up from the bench. Brett was 'borrowing' one of Logan's sleeveless shirt, and Sean had to admit that now that he could see Brett's chest he was really enjoying the view.
"Yea, that's really impressive," Sean said as he drank in the sight of Brett's hair-covered chest muscles. Not only was Brett's chest hairy, but from what Sean could tell pretty much all of Brett was reasonably hairy.
"I haven't been able to go to the gym since..." Brett's smile faded and he dropped his flexing arms much to Sean's dismay.
"Hey!" Sean said and joined Brett on the other side of the bench. "What's wrong Brett? You were totally into it just a second ago."
Brett gave Sean a pretty sad face before smiling again and shaking his head. "You know what Sean... Logan is a lucky guy... I should have seen what he sees in you instead of just being jealous of you two this whole time."
"Wha... wait... you were..." Sean began to say, but Brett held up a hand and cut him off.
"I owe you an apology Sean... I might not ever forgive Logan for dumping me, but I shouldn't have taken my anger out on you. Can you... can we maybe be friends?"
Sean couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Of course we can be friends!" Sean said and before Brett could stop him the smaller guy grabbed him and hugged him really tight. Brett was surprised at first, but when he finally relaxed and hugged Sean back the strangest thing happened.
*Wham! POW!*
Both guys quickly looked up and stood apart as a huge racket came from the side of the gym that faced their coffee shop. "Uh... what the heck was that?" Sean asked and looked up at Brett.
"I don't know Sean, but I think we had probably go check out the shop just to make sure that nobody is trying to break in."
Not far from where Sean and Brett had been working out a certain large bull-monster was having a very different sort of problem. "Damn cat!" Logan bellowed as he crashed through a pair of cans in the alleyway only to come face-to-face with his foe. The feline in question had the bell in its mouth now as if it could somehow sense that the little bronze bell was important.
The only thing was, now that the cat had the bell, something seemed off about the way the bell was ringing. The little cat shook the bell a few times causing Logan to clap his hands over his ears. Sure, it stopped him from changing any further, but now that the cat had the bell it seemed like some of the object's power was being transferred to the cat instead. After a few shakes the cat started to grow larger and wilder-looking. Logan even noticed that the bell began to change shape a little and then the ringing seemed to grow higher and more jingly.
"I gotta stop this now!" Logan shouted and lunged at the cat crashing through some more cans and ending up managing to pry the bell from the cat's mouth somehow. Almost as soon as the bell was loose from the cat though a strange whoosh of energy seemed to flow from the cat into Logan. "Oh no..." Logan said as he held his hands up and watched as his finger-hoofs quickly changed into a more claw-like pattern. Next Logan felt the strangest sensation as his ears began to shift position on his head. Finally his tail, which had been completely bovine before, seemed to grow longer for a moment before it came to life with a slight flicking motion. Even the tuft of fur on the end of his tail seemed to thicken and turn a bit tawny in color.
"Ok, part bull and now part cat?" Logan said as he grasped the bell in his hands. "There's got to be a way to fix this though... I bet Sean can help me."
After a quick check of the shop Sean and Brett were sure that nobody was trying to break in, but it was odd to find a bunch of the trash in the ally thrown around like crazy. "It looks like somebody drove a truck through here." Brett said and frowned at the mess.
"I'm glad this isn't our trash." Sean said and shook his head. "You don't think whoever did this was trying to get into the shop?"
"Naw," Brett said and frowned. "If anything it looks more like they had some sort of fight with the gym wall and the trash. Maybe they were just mad about something..."
Sean was sorry to see Brett leave, but they did have stuff to do other than hang out and work out. On the way home though Sean swore he was being followed. As weird as the feeling was though a cute surprise waited for Sean as soon as he got home.
A crudely written note had been left on Sean's door. It was obviously from Logan, but it looked like a three-year-old had tried to write it. "Hey babe, I had to go home for an emergency," it read only a lot of the e's and o's were messed up so it took a while for Sean to figure out what the letter said. "I love you, and I am so sorry I missed our workout. Please meet me at your work a little early tomorrow. I need to show you something super important."
"Huh," Sean said as soon as he finished the not. He looked around for a while before heading into his apartment building. What Sean couldn't see was the sad-looking bull-cat monster watching him from the other side of the street. By now Logan was looking a lot more like a horned lion on steroids, but he was still at least partially human shaped.
"I wish I could be in there with you Hun..." Logan said sadly and eventually ended up sitting down in a pile of garbage beside Sean's house. Through the night Logan was able to find some old clothes and sheets that Sean had thrown out. They at least smelled like his boyfriend which was comforting enough to get the lonely monster through the rest of the night, and it turned out that sleeping outside made for a very long night...
Part 3
Most mornings Sean was never up and at work as early as he was today, but something about the letter he had found was really bugging Sean. That night, before he had gone to bed, Sean had compared the letter to some of the other notes and letters Logan had written him. There were certainly similarities in the hand writing, but why had the note been so crude? And why had it been drawn in crayon on the back of a Help Wanted add?
Sean was so worried about his boyfriend that Sean didn't even notice the huge and at this point very inhuman shape waiting in the ally beside the shop. It didn't take long for Sean to open the door and let himself in. He was actually a little thankful he was meeting Logan at work because Sean would be able to make some coffee for himself to at least wake himself up before Logan got there.
What Sean was not expecting was the jingle of the door bell only a few minutes after he had arrived at the coffee shop. The OPEN sign wasn't on, so who could have come to the shop this early? "I'm sorry sir, but we're not open yet. I'm just here waiting on..." Sean's voice trailed off as he turned around and found himself looking at something that wasn't quite human and wasn't quite anything else Sean had ever seen before.
"Sean!" A low rumbling grow-like voice said as the huge monster held up two massive three-fingered hands tipped with huge black slaws. "Sean please don't freak out! It's me Logan!"
"L... Logan!?" Sean said in shock as he looked at the inhuman face of the monster talking to him. "Logan can't... he's not... how...?"
"I swear it's me Sean!" Logan said desperately and took a step towards his frightened boyfriend. "Something happened at work yesterday and I just... turned into this... and now I need your help because I got bitten by a cat and my leg really hurts!"
Sean didn't know what to say so he just nodded as the huge creature became more and more upset.
"And then I fell asleep outside your house on that old sheet set you threw out this week and a couple of sweaters that you probably wore about two years ago judging from how they smelled. I've never had to sleep outside in the garbage before, but I was just..."
Logan fell silent as he felt two arms wrap around his waist and the familiar pressure of his boyfriend's embrace. They had hugged hundreds of times before now, but it had never made Logan feel like it did at that moment. "Shhh big guy," Sean said as he hugged his huge, hairy boyfriend. "I know it's you."
"Oh Sean," Logan growled as he sank into his boyfriend's embrace and ended up with his huge horned head somehow resting on Sean's shoulders. Eventually the smaller male managed to calm Logan down enough to hold his huge head in his hands and look him straight in his eyes. There was a lot of love in Sean's eyes, but more importantly Sean didn't look scared anymore. "How did you know..."
"You won't shut up when you're upset." Sean said softly as he ran his tiny hands through his boyfriend's face fur. "I haven't seen you this worked up since you lost your job a few weeks ago."
"I'm sorry Sean," Logan said and growled as he hugged his boyfriend close again. "I wanted to show you so bad, but I was scared you would hate me."
"How could I hate this cute face?" Sean said and gently tugged on his boyfriend's shaggy beard-like mane that had grown quite thick through the night. "You might have taken my body hair fetish to a whole new level now Hun. I've never been with a guy who was a real-life furry before now."
"What's a furry?" Logan asked.
"People who dress up in..." Sean shook his head and laughed a bit. "Don't worry about furries Hun. You're something totally different than that. Ok?"
Logan nodded and tried his best to smile. He knew in his heart that Sean would be able to sort things out from here on out. Sean was always a perfectly level-headed guy. If anybody could find a way to reverse all this than it was Sean. Unfortunately even after explaining the bell and everything that had happened with it to Sean there seemed to be no quick solution to their problem. Even worse, Logan couldn't remember what he had done with the bell when he was waiting for Sean to get to work that morning. With no bell and no solution Sean just kept making coffee and serving customers as they showed up. Logan helped as much as he could, but there was only so much a huge bull-cat-monster could do in a coffee shop.
At first Sean thought people would react badly to the presence of a huge bull-cat monster, but once Sean found an apron large enough for Logan to wear if he was helping behind the counter people just sorta ignored him. It was a little odd how chill the coffee shop patrons were with the new "mascot" as they sometimes called him. A few people even asked Logan if he was hot in his costume, but Logan just shook his head no because in all honesty he was actually more naked than he was clothed.
As smooth as things were going things did get pretty exciting that day, but not for the reasons that Sean would have expected. "This is a load of bullshit!" Brett shouted as he stormed out of their boss's office and into the front of the coffee shop. "Oh!" Brett said when he saw Logan. "Wow... is that... Logan?"
"Yea," Sean said and tried to act as nonchalant as possible about his boyfriend's current state. "He just... forgot to shave for a while. No biggy," Sean waved his hand and smiled as he watched Logan grin and wave at Brett.
"Ah, right." Brett said and shook his head. "Captain dumb-ass in his office wants me and Logan to spend the rest of the day in the back sorting and taking inventory."
"Wait, all day?" Sean asked and frowned as he looked at Logan. "What could be so important that he cares about the back all the sudden?"
"Something about some bell that's missing from that plaque above his door. Apparently he thinks that it must have gotten knocked down somehow and he wants us to clean up until we find the damn thing."
"Wait, you don't mean that little bronze bell do you?" Sean asked and looked back towards his hairy boyfriend. "Is that the same one you were talking about Logan?"
"Ahh, I think so," Logan said and stepped forward nervously. "I... I might have accidentally knocked it down yesterday... and that was when all this happened." Logan gestured at himself and grinned nervously.
"Right, so where did the bell go?" Brett asked in an annoyed voice. When Logan just shrugged his furry shoulders Brett became even more irate. "I swear, we hire you for one day and you mess with the one damn thing in the whole shop that matters to our boss? We'd better start looking for the bell now or else we might end up cleaning the whole back room!"
Sean felt badly for Brett and Logan. But the back room really did need to be cleaned. It also sucked not having any help in the front of the shop. As much as Sean hated to admit it he really did like having Brett around to help with the customers. Regardless, as business began to pick up it really did get too crazy up front for Sean to handle everything. Eventually he was forced to call Brett and Logan both up front to help out. Brett went to work making drinks while Logan brought them out to tables much to the delight of the various customers.
Only once the noon-time rush was over did the three guys finally get a chance to rest for a bit. "Whew, that was some rush!" Logan said and reached up to wipe sweat from his forehead with the back of his huge, shaggy arm. "If I didn't know better I'd think people were coming in here on purpose."
"Yea, because how many coffee shops have a minotaur working for them?" Brett said and chuckled as he thought of something funny. "I mean, at this rate we would be better off rebranding the shop into something more appropriate to our new mascot."
Sean and Logan couldn't help but to chuckle as Brett's good mood rubbed off on them. When he wasn't being a butt head Brett could actually be a pretty cool guy. After they were done laughing Brett and Logan were about to head back to the storage room when somebody walked up to the front desk and caught Brett's attention. "Ah, sir?" The young man said and held up a small bronze bell in his hands. "Dose this thing belong to anybody in this shop? I found it outside in the alleyway between the shop and the gym?"
Sean's eyes widened at the sight of the bell, but it was Logan who seemed to be the most shocked by the site of it. "No don't!" Logan said quite suddenly and clapped his huge hands over his ears. Unfortunately for the other three guys it was too late. The stranger shook the bell hard enough to make it ring three times, but that was all it took to activate the bell's strange magical powers.
A queer tingling sensation made Sean reach up to touch his head just as he felt the strangest feeling begin to grow in his pants. Before the stranger could ring the bell again Logan snatched it away from him, but there was nothing Logan could do to stop what happened next. "Hey!" The guy said just before he looked at Sean and Brett. "Ahh... you guys... your ears!"
"Our ears?" Brett said and frowned. "Look at your ears!"
All three guys scrambled to reach the large standing mirror set up beside the front door to the shop. They couldn't do much to stop their ears from slowly shifting upwards on their heads and then growing fur. In the space of a few moments Sean, Brett, and the new guy all had cat ears with fur colors that matched their hair. "Ah! Ouch!" Brett groaned and suddenly grabbed at the backside of his pants. Thankfully somebody knew what was happening back there.
"Hold on guys," Logan said as he moved swiftly behind Brett and reached down towards the small bulge growing against the back of his pants. "There ya go," Logan said as a short ripping sound filled the shop and a long furry tail exploded out from Brett's pants.
"Oh thanks," Brett said and sighed as his tail thrashed for a bit before calming down somewhat. Logan repeated the same procedure with Sean and even the new guy who seemed just as relieved to have his new tail liberated from his pants. Unfortunately there were some things that they needed to tell their new friend.
A few hours later all four guys were standing around the front counter while Logan and Sean finished explaining everything they knew so far about the bell. It turned out that this new guy was named Neal, and he was actually an employee of the gym next door. He had found the bell in the alley while cleaning up some of the trash that had been thrown around. Logan had felt bad and had even apologized for trashing the alleyway.
Neal was actually taking everything really well considering he had just grown cat ears and a tail. "Wow, so this is a lot to take in." Neal said and looked at the bell sitting on the counter. "But you guys are sure that this bell is some kind of magical item? And ringing it was what made me grow..." Neal reached up to touch his ears and then gestured to the fuzzy lion-like tail flicking behind him.
"I know it sounds crazy," Logan said and held his hands up defensively, but I swear that's what happened. I just don't understand why you guys are turning into cats and I turned into a bull to start out with."
"Maybe it has something to do with the cat that was playing with the bell before you got it back? Maybe some of that animal's energy got transferred to the bell and altered its magic somehow?" Sean suggested and shrugged. "The only thing I can think of that might change it back is if you maybe rang it yourself? Maybe you're enough Bull to make it a cowbell again?"
"Ah, but if I ring it who knows what will happen?" Logan said and frowned. "I mean, look what happened to you guys after just a few short rings? If I used it again we could all end up turning into monsters... or even worse!"
"Maybe or maybe not?" Brett said and frowned. "But if we don't at least try then the bell will stay like it is now, and our boss is looking for a cowbell not a cat bell! We can either try to change it back, or we can clean the back room for the rest of our lives!?"
"Ok, but the bell didn't change until the cat rang it with me nearby. I think if this is going to work than one of us will have to be nearby while the bell rings. Otherwise it won't work at all." Logan said and looked at the three guys standing before him.
A few minutes later Brett found himself standing alone with Logan in the front of the shop. The doors were locked to prevent anybody else from wondering in and getting caught up in the same trouble that had ensnared Neal a few hours ago. "Why the hell do I always have such bad luck?" Brett grumbled as he looked at the huge bull-monster holding the bell in his hands.
"What was that?" Logan shouted. A heavy wooly scarf was tied around Logan's head effectively preventing him from hearing what Brett had just said. Brett just sighed and held up his hands in defeat as he gave up on trying to think of a way out of this. In a strange way Brett sorta figured he might actually deserve to be punished a little for how bad he had acted towards Logan and Sean. "I'm going to ring the bell now! As soon as it changes back to a cowbell I promise I'll stop!" Logan shouted.
Brett tried his best to grin as he flashed Logan a thumbs-up sign.
Logan held the bell up in his meaty three-fingered hands and Brett secretly began to wonder what it would be like to be a huge, hairy beast like Logan was now. "Well... I guess I'll know in a second." Brett grumbled to himself. "It's too bad I was such a butt head to everybody... maybe I wouldn't be so lonely if I had actually tried to be a little nice for once?"
The first resounding clang of the bell was certainly more of a jingle than a true bell-tone, but after a few more shakes Brett began to hear a slight change in the bell's tones. A deeper, more resounding ringing sound began to fill the shop causing Brett to look up at Logan and the bronze bell in his hands. It only took about dozen or so rings, but by the time Brett counted past the twelfth ring the bell really had changed from a cat bell back to a cowbell. "Damn!" Brett said and smiled as he watched Logan lower the bell and inspect it. "I guess it really did work..."
Logan quickly wrapped the scarf around the bell as soon as it had changed back to a cowbell. Unfortunately right about at that same moment Brett let out a surprised cry of pain. Logan put the bell down on the counter and quickly ran to help his ex boyfriend. "Brett! I know this is going to be awful, but you just gotta stick through it ok? Let me take these off and it will all go a lot faster."
Brett nodded and didn't even protest as Logan went to work slicing the man's clothes off his growing body. In only a few short moments Brett was packing on more size and mass than he could have ever gained working out in the gym. The man's chest quickly grew to match Logan's in both size and fur-growth. It was almost a little funny how remarkably similar Brett and Logan looked now that Brett was turning into... whatever Logan was now.
Muscle and fur rapidly covered Brett's expanding body as he went from a normal-sized human to a monstrous bull-cat monster. As hot as it was to watch his ex transform into a monster like himself Logan found himself strangely uninterested in Brett's changing body. Sure, muscle and fur was hot, but the more Brett changed the more Logan began to realize about how he must look to Sean. "Dang," Logan said as he helped Brett sit up as the man's forehead began to show signs of his horns growing in. "That's probably the worst part right there," Logan said and used his strength to help Brett hold his head up as his neck muscles grew thicker in response to Brett's new horns.
"Oh fuck!" Brett growled in his new inhuman voice. "I feel like I could bench press a car!"
"Ah, you probably can." Logan said and slowly helped Brett up to his feet... well hoof-paws really. "I know it's going to be a big change for you, but trust me when I say that being a huge bull-lion monster isn't so bad." Logan said and gave his ex a hearty clap on his shaggy back. "Besides, I can honestly say that I never thought we'd end up like this."
"Yea," Brett growled and turned to look at his new huge, powerfully muscled body and the thick tawny fur that covered him now. "You think I'll ever find somebody like Sean?" Brett asked and turned to look at Logan. "I... I know I probably don't deserve to have a boyfriend after I was so mean to you guys."
Logan couldn't help but to smile as he got a good idea of how he must look when he was sad. No wonder Sean thought Logan was so cute when he pouted. Brett looked like he needed a hug, so Logan did just that. "You'll find somebody," Logan said and growled as he comforted Brett. "Besides, that Neal guy is pretty cute. Maybe you should ask him out on a date? I bet he'd be interested in you now that he's part cat too. Eh?"
Brett perked up at the mention of Neal. "You think so?"
"It never hurts to ask, right?"
Epilogue
Things at the coffee shop were finally getting back to normal after a week or two of changing the bronze bell back to a cowbell. Of course, when Neal's work had discovered that he had cat ears and a lion tail they weren't too happy with him. He ended up losing his job at the gym, but that actually ended up working out just fine for him.
"Hey guys!" Neal said as he walked into the coffee shop followed by a huge furry bull-lion man who was holding his hand. Neal looked like a kid in a candy shop, and the goofy grin on Brett's face only made the two of them look that much cuter. "Guess what?"
Sean elbowed the furry apron-wearing bull-lion beside him causing Logan to look up from the drinks he was making. "Oh hey Neal, Brett," Logan said and smiled at his co-workers. "You guys are here early today. Something special going on?"
Neal was practically beaming as he pulled Brett closer to him and nuzzled the bull-lion's massive furry arm. "Only if you think me and Brett here going steady is something special."
"Congratulations you two!" Sean said excitedly and Logan nodded his own approval before he handed the drinks to a pair of customers on the other side of the counter.
"Yea, that's awesome guys." Logan said as he reached over the counter and slugged Brett in his meaty shoulder hard enough to make the other bull-lion shift slightly from the force of the blow. Any other person would have been knocked off their feet... or hoof-paws... but lately Brett and Logan had been hitting the gym together so it wasn't much of a big deal for them to give each other a hard time. "You're going to have to keep him in line for me." Logan said and growled low as he winked at Neal. "Brett here is a real beast if you know what I mean."
"Hey!" Brett said and blushed under his fur.
Everybody laughed, but it was a good natured sort of laughter that was only possible between friends that knew each other pretty well. Sean couldn't help but to smile as he watched his own monstrous boyfriend continue to joke and carry on with Brett and Neal. In a strange way things had actually gotten better ever since the incident with the bell. Sean glanced up at the ornamental plaque and the bell hanging high up and out of the reach of anybody who wasn't at least as tall as Logan and Brett were. Maybe it was a good thing that they had discovered the bell's magic powers. It wasn't so bad being part cat now, and after things had calmed down Sean had learned that he wasn't *just* part cat either. In a strange way it was like he and Neal were just smaller and less-hairy matches to whatever Brett and Logan were. At least, that's how Sean felt about the whole thing.
"Oh! Hey," Neal said and caught Sean's attention as he slipped behind the counter. "So Sean... you remember when you told me that you were... well, you know..." Neal gestured towards his bulging crotch and Sean knew exactly what the other guy was talking about.
"Yea, did you get it checked out?" Sean asked and blushed slightly at the mention of his own transformed personal anatomy.
"Sure did, and you were right. They *are* nipples... and it *is* milk." Neal said and winked. "And just so you know... I didn't just ask Brett to go steady because we're fooling around. I think there's a good reason why we both started... well... lactating all the sudden."
"But what did the doctor say?" Sean asked as his eyes went wide.
"I didn't go to a doctor actually... but the Veterinarian said that he thinks I might be..."
"What are you two whispering about over here?" Logan growled and reached over the counter to grab his mate.
"Well," Sean said and smiled as he turned to face his cute and hairy boyfriend. "What would you guys say if I told you that you both might be fathers soon?"
