While looking for the vixen, Phoebus noticed a strange disguise that seemed a bit familiar: it was Djali's face visible, which innocently looked up to the man. "Don't make a sound," thought Djali, who wanted to try Esmeralda's disguise as an old goat man with a wood cane. Phoebus shrugged it off, ignoring the familiarity of Djali. "Hmm," he thought. "That looks familiar." (His eyes watch the disguised duo enter a door.) "Stay here, Achilles. I'll handle those two," he said. Achilles groaned a little and asked, "Can't I come with you, please?" Phoebus shook his head, refusing to let his best friend get hurt. "Depending on the witchcraft she may use, I should go on my own," he said as he entered in the cathedral. Achilles sighed and sneezed. "Achoo! I don't want him to catch my cold," he thought. "I can catch them pretty easily."
Meanwhile, in Notre Dame...
Esmeralda and Djali ended the disguise and looked around Notre Dame's structure. "Look at this place," Djali quietly said to Esmeralda. "I think we'll be safe here." Esmeralda smiled at Djali and nodded. "Oh, I hope so," she thought. Suddenly, she felt something near her and turned around and noticed Phoebus. "You," she groaned as her green eyes glared at him with hostility. Phoebus could sense the vixen's mistrust and said, "Just give me a chance to apologize." Esmeralda and Djali both skeptically looked at one another and questioned in unison, "For what?" Phoebus sighed and responded to them, "Not getting to know the both of you earlier." Esmeralda awkwardly looked with a more confused facial expression at the man. "Is this an interrogation," she inquired. Phoebus calmly chuckled and said to her, "I believe it's called an introduction. I'm Phoebus: it means Sun God." Esmeralda looked with even more confusion at the unexpected conversation they had. "You're not arresting me," she asked in a calm voice.
"Not as long as you're in here; I can't," Phoebus responded. Esmeralda looked with an unusual sense of guilt from her misanthropic prejudice against most guards, particularly because of Judge Claude Frollo and his persecutions. "Huh... You're not at all like the other soldiers," she said. "So; if you're not going to arrest me, what do you want," she asked. Phoebus smiled at the vixen and said to her, "I want to help. I can see you mean well, but watch out-" (Frollo's voice can be heard.) "Good work, Captain. Now arrest her," Frollo's voice commanded. Esmeralda and Djali both looked astonished at Frollo, then angered at Phoebus. "You son of a-" she quietly muttered. "Ah, ah, ah. Watch it. You're in a church," teased Phoebus, who pinned her to the wall. Djali froze at the sight of Frollo, along with a few guards who accompanied him. "Yikes! It's him, Judge Claude Frollo," he anxiously thought. "Claim sanctuary," Phoebus whispered into Esmeralda, who was loudly growling at him. "Why," she snarled. "You tricked me." Phoebus' grip tightened on the vixen, who could not run this time.
"I'm waiting, Captain," Frollo told them. Phoebus glared at the growling Esmeralda, who looked ready to start battling. "Say it! He has no right to arrest you," Phoebus answered with. Esmeralda, who reluctantly went with the plan, yelled, "Sanctuary!" (Phoebus immediately retracts his pin hold.) "I'm sorry, sir. She claimed sanctuary. There's nothing I can do," Phoebus said. Frollo groaned and replied, "Then drag her outside and-" Just in time, the Archdeacon stepped into the scene and said, "Frollo, you will not touch her!" (He calmly lays a hand on Esmeralda's .) "Don't worry. Minister Frollo learned years ago to respect the sanctity of the church," added the Archdeacon. Frollo angrily gritted his teeth together and gestured his guards to retreat with one hand motion of his, but hid behind one of Notre Dame's stone pillars to watch them. Phoebus respectfully stepped out of the cathedral while the Archdeacon accompanied him. Djali went with them to ensure Phoebus would not come back in.
At the sigh of Esmeralda now on her own, Frollo snuck behind her and restrained her two arms. "Ugh," she groaned as she turned to face him. "Not you again," she angrily thought. Frollo calmly smiled at his prey, who had no one to help her this time. "You think you've outwitted me, but I'm a patient man," he said. "And gypsies don't do well inside stone walls..." (He smells her black hair and grins, maliciously.) Esmeralda froze at Frollo's forceful approach and truly wanted to look away, but was scared. "What are you doing," she nervously asked to him. Frollo locked her arms in place and then responded, "I was just imagining a rope around that beautiful neck." (He forcefully gets the vixen on her knees, but Esmeralda thrusts her big butt to push him off of her.) "I know exactly what you were going for just now," she said. Frollo casually grinned as she glared at him. "Such a clever witch. So typical of your kind to twist the truth to cloud the mind with unholy thoughts," he said. "Well, no matter... (He begins exiting Notre Dame.) You've chosen a magnificent prison. But it is a prison, nonetheless. Set one foot outside, and you're mine."
Esmeralda nervously looked around the place, wondering what Frollo had in mind. "What goes on through that sick mind," she thought. Djali, who caught up to Esmeralda, smiled as he saw the vixen. "Are you OK," he asked. Esmeralda shook her head and whispered into Djali's ear. The latter was speechless about the perverted ordeal she thought Frollo was willing to commit. (The duo overhear a guard's voice at the door.) "Frollo's orders. Post a guard at every door," the guard declared. "Damn it," cursed Esmeralda. "Don't worry, Djali. If Frollo thinks he can keep us here, he's wrong." The Archdeacon, who was back in to light candles, rolled his eyes. "Don't act rashly, my child. You created quite a stir at the festival," he said. "It would be unwise to arouse Frollo's anger further." Esmeralda felt conflicted by freeing Quasimodo, and what Frollo's intentions could be. "You saw what he did out there, letting the crowd torture that poor boy," she argued. "I thought if just one person could stand up to him, then... What do they have against people who are different, anyway?"
"You can't right all the wrongs of this world by yourself," answered the Archdeacon. Esmeralda sighed at Archdeacon's wiser suggestions she received. "No one out there is going to help, that's for sure," she snarled. The Archdeacon's eyes looked around the church and said to her, "Well, perhaps there's someone in here who can..."
