Hello, welcome to my very first written piece on SoFurry!

This is the start of a clueless furry named Oscar, as he has to fend for himself (right now anyway) and endure many insults. He has had to grow up in a human society, and this makes Oscar scared, confused, misplaced. He needs answers as to why he was ditched here, but he can't do it alone...

Hope you guys like my new chapter series on Misplaced! A chapter will probably be published 2 days a week or just per week :D

The dark night sky was specked with dazzling bright stars, and the moon a glowing yellow hanging in it. It seemingly sounded like a beautiful night, but unfortunately that was not the case for Oscar, the only furry in the town of Druffledown. He was, basically, ditched by his parents when he was young, and from then on had to fend for himself. He had no idea why either, which made it all the more confusing. Oscar was a 12 year-old orange and blue Fennec Fox, and was nearly always bullied at school, just because he was different from everybody else. The reason for this is because he had been growing up in an all-human society, which was pretty terrifying in itself. This gave him misconception about what he was, and was miserable everytime he had to go through town. Although, Oscar did manage to make a friend or two, the least he could be grateful for. He stared up, looking for the answers in his 'ancestors' stars, before going to sleep, silent breaths of chilled air escaping his mouth.

Oscar woke up with only a blanket wrapped tightly around him, which barely helped containing any warmth whatsoever. It was a nice morning, the sun shining a brilliant white light around the town, and the wind just a whisper. The snow he had slept on had melted a slight bit, making Oscar's fur unfortunately wet.

"Damn it, this barely happens. I guess it's the start of another shitty day"

Oscar expressed frustratingly, as he threw the blanket against a tree and shook the freezing water off quickly. Once done, he walked over, letting his paws touch the ground for only a second before taking them off again. Oscar grabbed the blanket angrily and fast, making a massive fuss about it. To his dismay, a pile of snow toppled on top of him as he yanked the drenched blanket off a branch, getting his fur snow-soaked.

Oscar growled in annoyance and got himself out, ripping the snow with his unsheathed claws.

"Today just can't get any better can't it?" Oscar whispered through gritted teeth quietly.

Once 'in control', Oscar travelled to the town, hoping that he'd see a familiar face or two to talk with. Unfortunately, there was no-one Oscar recognised, so he argued within himself to enter one of the shops. The row of shops looked delicately placed, each one fitting perfectly next to one another. All of them had similar designs too, one big window on the front, and a polished oak door with the shop name carved into every-one. Oscar trudged over to the main store, the supermarket, and hesitated before entering the building. Upon entrance, he felt the cold touch of the tiles beneath his paws, shuddering slightly before continuing on. Oscar honestly didn't know what he was doing there, but he knew he wouldn't come out without a nasty comment or two. As he went to get a basket from the rather massive rack of them, a kid about Oscar's age walks over quickly.

'Looks friendly' Oscar says convincingly to himself. The girl stares at him, and when the brunette goes to talk, Oscar freezes. He's never talked to someone other than the people who know him, so it is quite awkward for the fox.

"Hello" She says sweetly.

"Hi?" Oscar responds awkwardly, scratching his head fur before she looks at him weirdly.

"What are you? The brunette looks confused.

Oscar just stares at the tiled floor, then lifts his head up to meet her eyes.

"I don't know"

Oscar walks out without expression on his face. He brought a chocolate bar and just pure water, as he couldn't afford to be in there for so long. He sat against the frozen water fountain stone border and attempted to open the wrapper. This gave him difficulty, and this got him a bit frustrated. Oscar could feel the human's eyes taking hungry glances at him, and he felt small and powerless, just like everyday he faced. He shrunk up against the freezing stone and ripped the chocolate bar case upon, throwing it at the snowy ground in embarrassment. He miserably munched on the tasty chocolate slowly, and twisted the cap of his water bottle with his free hand. Oscar lifts the bottle up carefully, finishes eating the chocolate bar, and takes gulp after gulp of the icy liquid, and it's already halfway empty before he halts. Oscar twists the cap of tightly before setting off to an unknown but safe cave near some dead trees and a frozen lake a kilometre or so from the plaza.
