Dark Fracture Part 3 - Breaking Point
A classic Isekai story of someone finding themselves in a different world than where they're from
Dar was what one would call a rank and file factory worker, living day by day of the expected grind.
Then on his way home one night, he was suddenly teleported away from the life he knew to a completely different one.
The catch?
The people there want him to become the next Overlord and help them conquer known space in his name.
Too bad the deck has been stacked heavily against them if he chooses to take the title...
Another chapter done
though I'm admittedly unsure about the pacing on this one
Did try and get opinions and some help but... typical responses for me
(most of my family forgets that I exists so why not everyone else?...)
Though, thank you to the one person who has gave me nothing but praise with this.
...
Anyway,
the story is still being written as a vent piece and this chapter seriously falls into the darker side of anything I've written thus far.
so on that note

Dark Fracture
Part 3 - Breaking Point
“sometimes to do some good you've gotta be the bad guy!”
- Survive the Night Lyrics
It was later that morning when I found myself walking around the corridors of the palace with no real goal or destination. I had figured that if I was going to be stuck here that I might as well familiarize myself with the layout of the place.Though to be honest, I could not sit still with the thoughts that were running rampid in my mind and I had to sort my head with everything that has happened in less than twenty-four hours.
I passed varius of people, mostly posted guards, a few wandering soldiers and even several servants by the looks of them. I noticed that most of the soldiers and guards were the wolvish aliens mixed with some of the felines, while the servants had more of a mix of other races that I was now seeing for the first time. I saw that there were a manasury of mice, otters, rabbits and a few others that I couldn’t quite name. When I walked by they would greet me with either a salute or a slight bow while voicing a “M’lord.” I would usually give them a polite nod and continue on my way. Eventually, I found my mind wandering as I walked aimlessly through the corridors.
‘Me… Of all people…’ I thought to myself ‘An evil overlord… What the hell did I do to have this craziness thrown on me?’
A loud, pained shrek that echoed off the walls drew me from my thoughts and brought me back to where I was. I had no idea where I was exactly but I tried to follow the halls in the direction that I heard the cry. As I tried my best to find the source, I was also getting more hopelessly lost. I was about to give up when I heard the voice cry out again.
“Stop! Please! You’re hurting ME!”
I wasn’t fully sure, but I thought that I recognized the voice and it sounded rather close. I started to pay more attention to where I was and what was around me. Several of the doors opened up into decent size rooms that I assumed were barracks as they housed enough bunk beds in them for twenty-four people. I also took note that there were also other accommodations like tables, lockers and a few other things associated with a soldier’s barrack. I wasn’t sure what time it actually was so I could only assume that most everyone was either gone on drills or maybe in the mess hall getting what they considered food.
“Stop! Someone! Anyone! HELP!!”
“Shut up you Alliance bitch!”
I was now close enough that I heard what could only be a rather loud slap. I approached a closed door and pressed my ear to it and heard the female sobbing as a second male’s voice spoke up.
“Man, she’s a noisy one!”
“Well, if you’d muzzle her maybe she wouldn’t be screaming like that!”
Finding the right room, I hit the controls and the door split apart and slid into the wall. Inside I spotted what looked like a horse, a bear, and a hyena, and I could see that they were as big, if not bigger than my six-four self. None of them had noticed that I had entered the room though and their focus was on whatever or whomever was on the table sobbing. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out what was going on, especially with the horse’s hips rocking into the table. I wasn’t sure what I was thinking, but I had to do something.
“ATTENTION ON DECK!” I barked in the most authoritarian voice that I could muster.
The sudden order jolted the three from what they were doing and they all hastily lined up and stood at attention in front of the table. There was another, softer thud off to the side and I could see one of the small Kobold-like aliens had just jumped out of a top bunk off to the side.
“What’s he doing here?” I heard the horse mutter as he indicated the Kobold-like alien to his two cohorts, who both answered with a shrug.
“I said ATTENTION!” I did my best to imitate a drill instructor’s tone of voice and all three snapped their heads back forward and straightened out their bodies with rigid discipline. “Now, Tell me what the HELL is going on here!” I demanded, looking at all three with an acusenary stare. “What in the Fucking hell were the three of you doing in here that I hear screams for help a good distance away!?!” The three kept looking at each other, hoping that one or the other would answer my question, but they kept silent. “WELL!”
Finally it was the hyena who spoke up, but it wasn’t anything that I wanted to know.
“Hey.” He said, almost doing the trademark chuckle. “It is just some hairless ape.”
‘Oh boy, here we go…’ I thought as realization dawned on the other two.
“Who are you, and what are you doing here, partner?” The horse demanded as he crossed his arms as he tried to stare me down. Apparently, him being close to being the same body type as me and a bit taller due to his anthro features seemed to have given him the impression that he was superior to me in some way.
“I’m the one that’s asking the questions!” I demanded as I stared them down. “What the Fuck were the three of you doing that I heard a woman crying for help in here?”
“They forced the new barracks slave onto the table and were raping her.” A raspy voice spoke up from the side. I looked over at the Kobold who looked like he was sweating bullets and then back at the three who were giving the alien death glares.
“Is this true?” I demanded.
“What if it is?” The bear finally spoke up. “It's just some Alliance slut who’s getting broken in.”
I glared at the bear before I shoved my way past the three and what I saw nearly broke me. On the table, limbs restrained was Nizri, the feline slave that had attacked me earlier in my suite this morning. Tears, blood, and bodily fluids had started to matted her short grey fur all over her body with obvious signs of abuse. Bruises were showing through her fur as well as multiple claw marks all over her body and her face was starting to swell in places as she laid there gasping for breath. She was barely able to raise her head up in her weakened state and when her gaze fell upon me, the eye that wasn’t swollen shut went wide in shock.
“Look partner,” The horse said as he put an arm around me in an attempt to get buddy-buddy with me. “The Madam left her here for us to break her in. Now, you’re not a part of our squad but I think that I would be able to talk my friends into giving you a turn. Though not sure if you’d want to, once big guy here has his turn with her.” The other two chuckled in amusement at what was said. I made the mistake at that point of looking down and was intently repulsed by what I saw. I hadn’t realized it, but all three only had a tank top on and their bottom halves were exposed.
“How about this,” I said as I pulled the arm off of me and stood between the table and them. “You three walk out of here now and I won’t have Commander Arruk throw the three of you into the brig for the foreseeable future.”
“Now see here, partner!” The horse exclaimed as he approached me. “The Madam told us that she was our new slave.” He poked a finger into my chest. “You nor anyone else is going to change that. She is ours. Get out before We show you what I do with punks like you!”
I tried to stand my ground as the horse poked me, he was strong enough that he had caused me to back up against the table and the battered form of Nizri. What I had failed to notice was that the lights flickered briefly each time he poked me, coinciding with my anger flaring up with each poke. I locked eyes with him and on instinct, brought my hand back to shove him away.
“Back… OFF!”
None of us was really sure what happened at that moment because as I punctuated my words with a shove, I felt some kind of energy travel across my outstretched arm and through my hand. The shove that I was barely expecting the horse to backstep from was sent flying across the room and landed into a bunk bed that crumpled from the sudden weight and force of the impact. The four of us stood in shocked silence looking at the damage that I wrought. I quickly regained my composure first and looked at the Kobold alien.
“Get either Fleet Commander or Field Commander Arruks in here!” I barked as I looked at the Kobold alien. “If you can’t find them, then someone else who’s in charge here!” He seemed hesitant to move, looking between me and the others in the room. “Now!” I snapped, prompting him to bolt quickly out the door.
There was a feeling of danger that caused my skin to crawl and I let my instincts take over, barely missing the clawed paw of that bear who now seemed to be in fight or flight mode and apparently chose to fight me. I basically relaxed my mind as I was attacked by the beast, letting my body react on its own accord. After about a minute of dodging as I was backpedaling away from him, I decided to try something. In my mind’s eye, I envisioned grabbing the bear with my hand and followed through with the thought by lifting my hand up into the air. The bear went airborne briefly and then I dropped my hand down hard like I was discarding trash in a waist bin, causing the bear to go flying at a downward angle and slam into a nearby table. The force caused the table to break as the bear was forced through it.
I felt another flash of insight and I leaned back as an orange glow went flying past my vision. I felt a burning sensation on my cheek and when I felt the area, I discovered that the projectile had given my face a new gash and I was now bleeding from it. Using my new found abilities, I sent a chair into the hyena that caused him to stumble and misfire the pistol in his grip. There was a pained screech and I turned to see that the one projectile was now lodged into the shoulder of Nizri before it burst into small particles and left a nasty looking wound.
“Big mistake.” I growled before I started to test what I could do on that hyena. I wasn’t sure how long it was but I had started to fling him around like a ragdoll, sending him flying from one end of the room to the other. At least once or twice I had used him as a battering ram to knock the horse back down, ensuring that I could keep my focus on that hyena-alien. I finally ended my ‘fun’ with him in a death grip against the wall with him gasping for breath as he hung in mid air.
“What is going on here?” I lost my focus and the hyena dropped in a heap on the floor as I turned to face the new arrival. He was a jackal, someone that I haven’t seen yet but he was wearing that gaudy style uniform similar to Field Commander Arruk. The look of him gave off the aura of age and his eyes showed years of experience.
“Are you in charge of these… Bastards?” I asked, venom dripping off my words as I glared at the Jackal.
“I am Third Commander Rumith.” He said with an air of authority. “I am in charge of palace security and defense.” Rumith looked past me at the other troopers that were laying on the floor, two groaning in pain while the Hyena was coughing as air started to fill his lungs again. His gaze then returned to me with an icy glare. “Now who, and, what the hell are you and what are you doing to these troopers!” I had a feeling that the jackal was trying to stare me down and in his own way, assert some kind of dominance over me. However, with the mood that I was in I wasn’t having any of it.
“My Name is Dar Tavor, a human if you must know and if you need further information, I’d suggest that you take it up with either the Fleet or the Field Commanders.” I said deadpan and crossed my arms as I kept my eyes locked on his. “As to why I’m here, I heard a cry for help and when I found the source, I found these three in the middle of sexualy assaulting her.” I pointed to the form of Nizri. Rumith took an uncaring look at Nizri before returning his gaze back to me.
“So? She’s nothing more than a slave. And with what she had attempted to do earlier, she’s getting what she deserves.” He then scoffed. “She’s lucky. If I had a say, I’d have her head because of the crime she committed. Besides...” Rumith fixed me with a hard stare. “What do you care about how an a slave gets treated?”
“I care because I know what crime she committed, and it was against me. If I knew what was going to happen to her, I would have put a stop to it then and decided on her punishment myself!” I nearly snarled the words out as a bit of realization started to cross the jackal’s face.
“Who are you?”
“As I told you.” I said, trying to keep the rage I felt from lashing out. “I am Dar Tavor, a human that was summoned from another universe to be your overlord!” I blurted out in a rage and immediately cursed myself realizing too late what I had just said. I could see that the damage was already done as realization swept across Rumith’s face and the jackal quickly dropped to one knee.
“M-my lord...” He stammered out. “I did not realize who you were and that you were here.”
“Obviously…” I muttered to myself.
“What are you doing here in the troop barracks? And… Not wearing your armor?”
“My reasons are my own.” I snapped. “Now tell me, where are Fleet Commander and Field Commander Arruks? I want to speak with someone who is actually copedent.”
“Well… My lord…” The jackal seemed hesitant to continue. “They’re not here. I was left in charge in their absence.“
“Where have they gone?”
“I… I don’t know…”
“I suggest that you find out as soon as you have these three…” I looked back at the three anthros who were still on the floor, groaning in pain from what I did to them. “Bastards thrown in the brig. Have the medical personnel check them there and keep them there until I decide what their punishment is. Understood?!?”
“Y-ye-yes my lord…” The jackal stuttered as I glared at him. I then went over to the table where Nizri was still bound, grabbed a knife and cut her bonds. She groaned as I picked her up in my arms. “M-my lord, what are you going to do with that Alliance Slave? SHe should be punished for what she tried to do…”
“She’s been punished enough.” I cut him off as I tried to get the feline in a somewhat comfortable position in my arms. “I suggest that you call a doctor to meet me at my quarters to look her over. I’d suggest that you do it quickly and tell him that I don’t want to be left waiting, or else he might have more than one case on his hands. Starting with you. Savvy?”
“Y-ye-yes my lord… S-s-savvy...”
I gave the Commander a stern look as I turned to head for the door, only to catch a quick glimpse of the small kobold-lizard from earlier. He had quickly darted away behind the wall the moment I looked his way, like he was afraid of being caught eavesdropping or something. I gave a sign as I walked out of the barracks with the feline in my arms, though I stopped after taking a step or two beyond the threshold. I turned and faced the diminutive lizard, he flinched as soon as he realized that I was looking straight at him.
“What’s your name?” I asked, some of the anger was still there but it was fading as I slowly calmed down.
“M-my n-name?” He seemed taken aback that I would ask him that question. I simply nodded in response, trying to prompt him to tell me. “I-It's Khignih, Sir. Neekus Khignih.”
“Well, Mr Khignih, would you mind escorting us to the main suite? I would rather not add ‘Getting lost’ to the events of my day.”
“Y-yes, my lord.” He said with a nod and led me away from the barracks.
The lizard escorted me through the halls in silence as I carried Nizri in my arms.I happened to look down to see her eyes close and her head resting along my shoulders because of how I was holding her. I wasn’t too sure if she was conscious or not at this point, just that she was at least still breathing. Though the blood from the wound on her shoulder had me worried as I could feel it soaking through my tunic. I just hoped in my mind that she could recover, though I knew that it would take some time. If at all…
“Here we are.” Neekus said as we arrived at a familiar door.
“Thank you.” I said as I stepped up to the door and it slid open, allowing me entry into the suite. When I stepped in, I didn’t notice any of the other girls at first but it wasn’t long before Hemri appeared.
“There you are, master.” She said in her usual chipper voice as she came into the commons room. “We were worried that the food would be cold when you came back…” It was about then that she noticed the state that I was in and the feline that I was holding. “By the makers! Are you okay? Is Nizri? What happened?”
“I’m alright, but Nizri was beaten, abused, and shot.” I said much to Hemri’s dismay. “A doctor should be on their way to look her over.” Hemri nodded and quickly left as I carried the feline over to one of the couches. The vixen then returned with Mesira and Palea in tow, both of them carrying basic supplies like towels and bandages as well as a few other things that were used to help clean her up in preparation for the doctor’s arrival.
Nizri gave a soft moan as she came back around while the girls were doing their best with cleaning her wounds and bruises. “Where am I?” She muttered as she opened her eyes she gave a startled yelp when recognized her surroundings, and tried to get off the couch. “Let me go!” She hissed as she tried to get up. The girls, for their part, did their best to calm and hold down the struggling feline. She however continued to struggle against the girls in a desperate attempt to free herself despite her weakened state until she noticed me off to the side. “What?” She hissed at me with a glare. “Brought me back so you can punish me yourself?” She renewed her struggle to free her limbs from the girls that were holding her still. “I am an alliance officer, you won’t break me nor will any of your lackies. No matter how hard you try”
“SHUT UP!”
The room fell into a stunned silence as everyone turned to Hemri. “What is wrong with you Nizri? We’re trying to help you, you stupid idiot.” The green vixen had tears running down her cheeks as she stared at the gray feline.
“I’m nothing but a damn slave to you people!” Nizri retorted. “An officer of the Alliance at that. You can’t expect me to believe that any one of you actually cares about me.”
“Believe what you want.” I said as there was a chime at the door. I instinctively went over to the entryway since the girls were still occupied in holding Nizri still and trying to do basic first aid in preparation for the doctor’s arrival. Expecting some sort of new alien that was a doctor to be there, I was surprised when I opened the door to see the Madam and two guards behind her.
“My lord.” she said with a slight bow that the other two followed.
“Madam…” I said curtly. “I was expecting a doctor or medical personel. What are you doing here?”
“Do not worry.” She said as she started to come in. “I’m here to handle the matter..” The moment she tried to push past me, my arm slapped the opposite wall and bared her entry. She looked at me confused as I didn’t budge from where I stood in her way. “My lord?”
“Every time you ‘handle something,’ someone gets hurt.” It was just then that something just dawned on me. “Thinking of…. Where’s the doctor?”
“I said that I was going to handle the matter.”
“Not what I asked. Where is the Doctor?”
The panda was hesitant for a moment, looking away as if contemplating her response before she answered.
“He wasn’t necessary.”
“What?…” The Madam cocked her head to my deadpan tone.
“He wasn’t necessary. I can see to the condition of my own property, thank you.”
“Wait… Property? Are you talking about Nizri?”
“Yes. I am.” I growled at her response.
“Then I’d suggest that you leave.”
The red panda face became one of shock at my words. “Excuse me?”
“I said, Leave. Now!”
“I don’t think that you understand, my lord.” She said as she glared at me. “That is my property that you have in your room, the girls that I have donated for your pleasure. They are my slaves and my responsibility, so I am not leaving until she’s handed over to me.”
“Those girls are not property or objects , they’re flesh and blood people with their own ideas, goals and wants.”
“So?” She scoffed at me. “They were either born into servitude or captured and indoctrinated into the Dominion. They are what we want them to be. Be it laborers, objects of our affections, or merely receptacles of our vexations. They have no status, no rights, and no future. The only thing that is truly waiting for them is death. This is our reality and our culture. This is something that you have to accept if you really do choose to become our Overlord.”
“I don’t think so.” I said in a low growl as I glared right back at her. “I refuse to accept that. In fact, in the words of someone from my world ‘I reject your reality and will substitute one of my own.” It was the Madam’s turn to look at me deadpan.
“Oh please. Such a ridiculous notion.” She snarled. “You can’t change reality. Nor can you do anything without the support of others. Even the Overlord requires the support of the people and without it you won't be able to do a damn thing. That includes someone like me. Now move out of my way so I can collect what is mine.” She bared her teeth at me in an attempt to get me to back down and move out of the way.
“Excuse me?” I asked as I stepped out of the room, forcing the Madam back into the hall.
“Uh… What?”
“Are you threatening me?”
“No, I…” She now was looking much like a deer in headlights.
“Who do you think you are?” I didn’t notice at the time but the two guards who were with her glanced at each other before backing to the opposite wall. Later, Hemri would recount to me that at that moment a dark aura started to surround the madam and I and what transpired next, I’m not sure how it happened but that it just did. All I knew for certain was the boiling anger that I was feeling was rising and I was ready to lash out. “Who do you think you are to Threaten ME?!? I didn’t want to come here, but I was brought here against my will but I was still the one who was summoned to be Your Overlord! The one that rules over You!”
“That may be true but…”
“SILENCE!” I barked, cutting her off mid sentence. “You will NOT interrupt me again, nor will you tell me what to do like some obedient dog looking for treats!” She opened her mouth to speak but quickly found that she had lost her voice. I barely noticed the fact that she had started to claw at her throat as if there was an invisible hand holding her as I forced her back to the opposite wall. “Now you will listen, and listen well.” I hisses as I got into her face much like a drill sergeant would. “I didn’t want to be an overlord, nor did I ever seek any kind of power. But with the amount of arrogance and stupidity that I have seen since I’ve come here, it is now clear to me that you buffoons need a competent leader and that major changes need to be made. Starting here and now. Since you want to treat others as mere objects to your whims, consider yourself terminated from your position. Just like these girls are no longer your responsibility, in fact anyone in this palace is now mine and mine alone. Am I making myself clear for you?” The madam tried to choke out a response but when her voice failed her, she nodded in agreement. “Good.” I said, stepping away and she fell to a heap on the floor coughing for breath as the air started to freely enter her lungs again. I left her there as she caught her breath on the floor as I went to reenter my suite.
“You’re not going to get away with this, I’ll make sure of it.” I heard her growl at my back, causing me to stop in my tracks.
“Tell me,” I said, not looking back at this point. “Do you have any idea what kind of hell Nizri went through? The kind of damage that was done to her? To be manhandled, beaten and raped?”
“I never did those things to her.”
“No… You didn’t personally do that to her, but it was on your order that she was put in that situation.” It was then that I glared back over my shoulder at the red panda. “As far as I’m concerned, you should be placed to rot in the cells with the scumbags that did personally do that to Nizri.”
“No…” The madam whimpered. “You can’t.”
“Test me again and we will see just how capable I am in dishing out judgment. Now, I’d suggest that you scurry back to the slimy hole that you crawled out of. Because if you ever cross me again, what happened to Nizri will pale in comparison to what will happen to you!” I turned to the two guards. “Make sure that she leaves the palace grounds as she’s no longer welcome.” The two looked at each other for a moment before I added. “If you don’t, I will make sure that you will be thrown in the same cell with those other three and the madam. Do I make myself clear?”
“Yes my lord.” They said in unison before they helped the panda woman to her feet and I entered the suite, the door sliding close behind me.
“Just what the hell are you playing at?” I ignored both Nizri’s comment and the bewildered looks from the other girls as I went over to a chair and flopped in it. “Well? Aren’t you going to answer me?!?”
“Why?” I bit back snarky. “So you can try and twist my words around to add to your misguided perception of me? No thank you.” My response stunned the grey feline into silence as I leaned back in the chair with a sigh.
‘Just what was my plan?’ I found myself thinking. ‘So far all I’ve been doing has been reacting, even if it’s only my first day. I need to figure something out or else things are going to go south very quickly with everyone’s attitudes’
“Hello?”
“It's me. We have a problem.”
“What kind of problem?”
“The human...”
“And… that is a problem, how?”
“He’s not like the others described in the ancient texts.”
“How so?”
“He’s not easily distracted by the girls, nor is he conforming to what we want him to be.”
“Perhaps you’re not trying hard enough. Go back and explain to him…”
“I can’t.”
“...”
“Are you still there?”
“Yes… why can’t you?”
“He threw me out of the palace.”
“He what?”
“He kicked me off the palace grounds.”
“Certainly you jest.”
“I’m not…”
“...”
“What are we going to do?”
“I’m thinking… You should try and go back and reason with him.”
“...”
“... What is it?”
“I don’t want to go anywhere near him again.”
“… Why?”
“...”
“Tell me.”
“He… He has some sort of ability.”
“Ability?”
“Yes. He very nearly choked me to death without his hands even touching me.”
“I see.”
“The ancient text never mentioned anything about humans having any kind of abilities.”
“None that you were allowed access to read anyway.”
“What are you saying?”
“Nevermind. I’ve already moved others in and have some safety measures in place.”
“But… What about me?”
“What about you?”
“I have nowhere to go.”
“Of course you do. Go to the Orthodoxy, I will let them know that you’re coming.”
“... Alright…”
“May the wisdom of the maker of the Sydion Star guide your steps...”
