DHW

Part 10.7

Fiery love

Ace

I just want to leave, vanish, disappear in thin air, turn invisible and run away, out of sight.

I can feel their eyes burning me as I walk back toward my place, Ulrick looking at me from afar, throwing me sorry glances, looking cute with his worried face. I didn't answer; low rumbles slithering out of my mouth through gritted teeth.

"My emperor!" cracked a voice, covering the usual brouhaha of the crowd. I tensed, freezing in surprise, ears perking, recognizing the voice who spoke. Before I could even turn around Slye's weight shifted on my shoulder, twisting his neck around to see, letting out low quizzical warbles. "I cannot possibly stand the humiliation it is for me to be here amongst you after what has been revealed. I cannot stand the dishonor and shame having the name of my family dragged in the mud like this. My emperor, I am sorry to inform you that I will be leaving right away." without leaving anyone to protest he turned away, walking toward the exit, keeping his head low in a display of shame and regrets. I stood there, speechless, paralyzed, unable to neither protest, my tongue numb, nor stop him, my body refusing to obey me. I could only watch powerlessly as step by step, in complete silence he walked away. In an ear-splitting shriek Skye's weight vanished from my shoulder, a powerful gust of wind washing over my face, a blue arrow crossing my sight. My grandfather staggered back, stumbling back with a huff, both hands rushing to his face. A grateful smile grew on my lips, glad Skye was here, the small blue form pressed against the general's face, claws latched his skull, head resting on his rare snow-white hairs, wings fanned out, flapping ruthlessly, holding him his place, his long sinuous tail wagging below my grandpa's chin as Skye's hind paws kicked in the air, trying to get a firm grip on his face, his whole figure squashed under the coat of gleaning blue scales, low whimpers spilling from Skye's maw as he clutched him even tighter, burying his snout on top of his head.

He relaxed, fondling Skye's back, despite his face being hidden I knew he was smiling, amused by Skye's affectionate behavior. "Glad I'm not the only one getting hugged." chuckled the emperor,, his words, although whispered reverberating as if he had just yelled them, eliciting a low amused giggle from me. A few guests laughed, a few other applauding, others softened by the little hugging drake. A minute went by, then a second, a third; my grandfather only idly fondling Skye's back, risking a few tugs every now and then, testing the firmness of Skye's grip on him, each time Skye letting out a low growl, making his intentions known. I joined them, trying to get Skye's attention to no avail, the little dragon only huffing annoyingly, mashing himself harder against the old man’s wrinkly face, making it clear that he wouldn't move so easily, darting defiant eyes at me, daring me to pull him away. I only smiled back at him, gently petting his forehead, earning low pleased coos, his tongue sliding out to lick at my hand, coiling around my fingers before tugging at my hand until I let him wrap his lips around the tip of my finger, suckling on it like it was some candy, slathering it in slimy saliva.

"Well, it appears some people wish for you to stay." commented the emperor, a broad smile illuminating his face. Skye let out an approving warble, vigorously nodding his head. "Beside my dear old friend don't you think it would be unfair to hold any grudge against you? You can't be blame for your son's villainy. He isn't a child anymore; he is old enough to take his own decision as well as taking his responsibilities… along with paying for the consequences of his actions."

Relief washed over me, my grandfather, although temporarily blinded by a thick veil of bright blue scales listening to the emperor's words, relaxing a bit more with each passing second. "Don't worry your honor is safe, in fact you shall even be praised for discovering the truth." He barely finished that already rounds of applauses exploded around us, a true ovation to him. "Please dear friend, stay with us, the party is only getting started."

Skye finally let go, flopping back lazily in my grandpa’s large hands, offering his belly to rub, chirping happily, his tail swaying widely in mid air. "I think this belongs to you." he chuckled, handing me Skye. I cautiously grabbed him, feeling his snout rub against my forearm, his scales vibrating with deep satisfied purrs "he is quite the expressive type I must say." he added, scratching Skye's belly, the small dragon squirming playfully, nibbling at the edge of my sleeve. "Yes… quite the snuggly type too." I added with a smirk "hey stop that." I squeaked, noticing him lightly nibbling at my sleeve. "I had noticed." replied my grandfather, pointing a finger at the few cuts and bruises Skye's claws had left on his face. "Sorry for that." "It's alright, they're merely bruises."

We headed back to the table, walking in the middle of a large alley made especially for us. We sat at our place, face to face, exchanging smiles and jokes, feeling better, lighter already, the anger from before turning into an old, painful, distant memory. "Hey… how are you doing?" whispered Ulrick, poking at my shoulder, the lady looking pissed off that she wasn't the center of attention, to my greatest pleasure. "I'm sorry this had to fall on you." "Well… I guess I shouldn't be that surprise. Not gonna lie I kinda expected it. I mean… deep within my guts told me it couldn't be otherwise." I sighed grimly, still holding Skye in my arms; watching as he ground his snout against my chest, purring deeply. "Damn I'm gonna have to put you on a diet soon." I chuckled, prodding at his plump belly. Skye stared at me, his eyes watering, low pleading whimper slipping from his maw. "Daw you're so cute…" I giggled, hugging him close, resting my head on his soft slick scales; their warmth seeping beneath my skin. "Not judging but your parents must be on the list of the worst family ever." "On that we can agree on." I approved, imperceptibly smiling back at him. To my own dismay at that precise moment the lady left, without a word, without looking back. Wasn't about to complain though, now I was alone with Ulrick, no one to disturb us. Only the two of us. "So… what do we do now?" I enquired after a few seconds of a tensed silence. "I don't know. Are you still… angry at me?" "A bit." I admitted; "Ace.. I'm sorry but I can't just send her away; I mean… I have duties and one of them is to pretend to be interested." He grumbled, looking at the ceiling in annoyance. "If you despise it that much why did you kiss her then?" I growled, glaring angrily at him, recalling that scene so painfully clearly. "What!!! No!!! I didn't kiss her." Gasped Ulrick, jaw dropping in shock. "Oh really? I saw you with my god damn eyes." "Ace… you can't actually believe that!? She freaking tripped over and fell on me... as she said." He grumbled, doubt transpiring in his words "but I'm sure she did it on purpose. But if it does make you feel better her mouth smelled and tasted like a public waste dump." We laughed together frantically, oblivious to the few wondering gazes from the nearest guests. We shared a long look, desire burning bright in his irises, the same fire blazing in my own, a smile curling his lips. "Relax… it won't be much longer, only a few hours and we will be able to leave unnoticed." "A few hours! Damn… sounds like forever." "Don't worry I'm sure you're gonna love what's planned." He sniggered deviously. "And what is planned?" "Not gonna spoil the secret so easily. Where is the fun in that?" chuckled Ulrick, his hand finding mine, a red blush immediately creeping over my cheeks.

"Wonderful, my dear subjects this night is the most wonderful night of all nights; and despite the latest incident tonight is a time for celebration." Announced the emperor, cutting us short; standing up before his throne, his loud shouts sensing chills through my whole body. "Let us celebrate then, my dear beloved subjects, drink, dance, enjoy until you fall and party until dawn!" he roared, his voice mingling with his dragon's mighty roar.

At his words the musician grabbed their instrument and, after a quick nod the first notes of a rapid tempo music. In a single motion all guests stood up, servants rushing as one to remove the chairs in a well-coordinated action, precise gestures countless times repeated. Dishes were taken away, the tables lifted by magic, hovering in midair before piling up in the corner, another array of servants preparing what looked like a bar. I had been on the other end of those parties, helping to prepare the bar but always left before the actual party started, the loud music giving me headaches.

I gulped down heavily, shivering in apprehension, watching as the immense banquet room was cleared, offering a large empty spot, rows of colorful crystals igniting as servants attached massive metal spheres to chains dangling from the roof, as another group pulled them up, the thick crystals blazing bright, casting colorful circles of light, their colors constantly changing; offering a gorgeous display of light. Couples formed under the light, men and women grabbing each other, dancing in time to the music. I observed them from a distance envying their ease at this, watching ladies spinning, their robes flying around them.

"Wanna dance?" chuckled Ulrick, pouncing me in the side. "And it's you who said it would be weird." I chuckled, grinning provokingly at him. "Oh shut up…" he sighed, planting a discreet kiss on my cheek while no one is watching. I shuddered, closing my eyes, smiling at the idea of being with him again, no matter the fact I never danced, fearing it would turn out ridiculous. Meanwhile Skye reclaimed his favorite spot on my shoulder, ears perked, eyes closed, nodding in time with the beat, his tail resting on back, the tail swishing rhythmically, thumping against my back. "He seems to like it." commented Ulrick. I nodded, admittedly feeling the same, my whole body quaking uncontrollably, my heart drumming in union with the music. We walked to the dance floor, side by side, Skye between us, twisting and craning his neck, observing with quizzically raised eyebrows, intrigued by the dancing people.

"What do you say about a little dance?" purred Tarken "I'd love to see you wiggle that meaty rump of yours." he added, a paw traveling down my back, sneaking under my tail, shamelessly groping my rump, his clawed toes brushing over my tailhole, sending blissful shivers through my body, my limbs wobbling under his touch. "Oh I think I’m not the one jiggling." I sniggered, squirming out of his grasp, tail hanging high, the tip tracing along his neck, probing at his chin before bopping his snout. "And you complain about me being a tease." chuckled Tarken, jaws snapping noisily, trying to catch my swishing tail tip. I swiftly dashed aside, tucking myself under his wing, shivering in the sudden surge of heat emanating from him, nuzzling his broad chest, purring deeply as my tail swayed widely behind me, smacking his rum with a loud slap. "Oh you little naughty drake." he growled, shoving me against his flank, his deep rumbles gradually turning into low purrs as our muzzles inched closer. Lurching forward I pressed my lips against his, feeling him tense in surprise, tasting the familiar aroma of his maw. My heart raced into my chest, cocking my head to the side, mimicking his move, our jaws locking together like a well-oiled machine, our tongues mingling in our intertwined maws, wrestling playfully, low purrs and moans breaking between us, our breath heaving, turning into short ragged panting.

Extending a paw forward I let my opened palm explore his body, his scales shivering under me, my claws tickling sensitive spots I knew so well. We broke away, panting heavily, drool dripping from the corner of our maws. We remained there, detailing each other, letting my eyes roam around his body, his beautiful gleaning green scales, the lighter green shade of his belly, his taut muscles rippling beneath his hide, the plump slit nestled between his hind legs, the potent musk it emanated making me shiver. I shuddered, widening my stance, sensing his ravenous gaze on my scales, letting him see what I knew he was looking for. "Look at what we have here?" he purred, taking a step closer, his snout rubbing against the underside of my neck, his slippery tongue dashing a long lick across my chilling scales, leaving a warm slimy trail behind. Cooing deeply in pleasure I returned the favor, passionately nuzzling his neck. "You don't even need me to get aroused Kyo." he whispered, resting his snout on top of mine, my nostrils pressing under his neck, taking deep whiffs in his pungent scent. "You're making me horny." I retorted, my half-hard member pushing between my hind legs, jutting proudly from my slit. "Hide it before someone notices it." huffed Tarken, his own musk rising in the air, warning me of his growing arousal. "I see I'm not the only one getting a bit… turned on." "You're not helping Kyo." "That's only payback for leaving me edging." I sniggered, peaking under his belly, noticing the two spires protruding from his parted slit. "Just you wait until we're out of here and I’ll make sure you never grow a boner ever again." he hissed, nibbling tantalizingly at my chin. "I don't think so… I think I'm gonna enjoy hearing you moan." I giggled, nipping one of his horns. "Must I remind you you owe me a little… stretching?" "Crap…" I cursed myself, my tailhole clenching tight, a large knot stuck in my throat, my arousal almost immediately subsiding, my cock shrinking, flopping limply out of my slit before retreating inside. Although I had managed to take both of his dicks at once or even a few bigger things but I apprehended what he had in mind this time, even I quite badly wanted to know.

"That's better… now let's join the party before they get started without us." suggested Tarken, pointing at the other dragons that had moved to the opposite side of the room, to a part of the dance floor left empty just for us, our riders chatting nearby, leaning against the bar. Alckor and his mates were already there, the three of them now alone on the large empty space, looking at each other, Darkan, remaining to the sideline spying on them, his paws twitching nervously, a mix of desire and apprehension painted on his face; Yann, his rider, urging him to get up and close the gap, the small black and green dragon quite reluctant to comply even though his long sinuous tail kept thumping the ground in rhythm with the beat. "Indeed, let's not miss the fun." I approved, making my way in the crowd, watching as, in the distance Alckor and his mates had gathered around Darkan, urging him to join them despite his vigorous protests. They jumped on him, pinning him to the ground, each of them grabbing a limb as they dragged Darkan to the center of the dance floor, Zarakay rushing to help with an amused smirk on his face, preventing the wingless drake from trashing against them, his heart-breaking squeals only making them laugh. "Poor guy." mumbled Tarken "nah trust me it's good for him, he needs to get out of his shell a bit." "If you say so."

We stopped next to my brother, facing each other. "So… what do we do now?" "Well… why don’t you show me how you groove?" "Well… I… I never danced before… not this kind of dance at least." I admitted, my cheeks turning a deep crimson red. "It's alright… I'm gonna teach you." he whispered, closing in on me, enveloping me in his warmth and love. "Hey… what’s happening over there?" shouted someone.

"Oh my prince."

I tensed, jaws clenching hard, rage reigniting, a deep growl humming in my throat, anger like molten steel coursing io my veins. That voice… I wished I wouldn't hear it for the rest of the night, I wished with all my heart that she would be gone yet she remained nearby, a leach sticking to us like a pesky fly. Skye's claws tightened around my shoulders, their sharp edges tickling my skin through the thick fabric of my clothes. I turned around slowly, extremely slowly, trying to contain my boiling, overflowing anger, keeping my composure as best as I could. As I laid eyes on her a bitter wave of pure hatred flooded my being, the same energy blooming inside me, the same scorching heat as before ragging in my heart. She was there, next to Ulrick, holding to his arm, Ulrick cringing rather than smiling, his face twisted in a mix of surprise and annoyance. I bet I didn't look any better judging by the begging glance, a plea to keep my cool. She seemed oblivious to the trouble she was the cause, throwing the prince a broad toothy grin, her eyes sparkling with love and desire, grinding quite incitingly against him. "Oh dear prince I cannot help myself but notice you don't have a cavalier" she simpered in a low honeyed whisper, inching closer and closer to him, her slow exhales making him shiver in discomfort, his hairs bristling I remained there, quiet, only staring at them, containing the overwhelming rage lurching inside of me, rising like a tidal wave that nothing could stop, my resistances crumbling under each of it's forceful assaults.

I felt weak, paralyzed like I was, stuck in place, my feet weighting a tone. "It would be the greatest shame if you didn't have a partner for the first dance. That is unless you wish to dance with your friend." she added on a playful, mocking tone, finally glancing at me, her intense gaze spewing hatred like poison darts at me, my skin like burning as my anger only welled up. I don't know if Ulrick saw any of this and if he did he let out no visible emotion, even frantically laughing, cringing a smile, showing some discomfort and embarrassment but not much more. "Yes… it would be odd." he admitted with a weird expression, scratching the back of his head, his face contorted in a look that both made me smile and pissed me off even more. "My prince, if I may speak, it would be my greatest honor to share the first dance in your company." she boldly added. We all tensed, my heart skipping a beat, gasping for breath, eyes bulging wide as I observed her, scrutinizing her face, looking for any sign saying it was a joke. My legs wobbled beneath me, staggering back, speechless, breathless; a tidal wave of despair crashing down on me; her expression only sending back the image of crude reality. My mouth opened to protest, my brain racing with thoughts, oozing hateful words, ready to spit them like fire yet… they remained stuck in my throat in a pathetic gasp, my fists clenching hard to the point it hurts. "Well… this is rather… bold of you…" stammered Ulrick, visibly taken aback by the unexpected proposal. Our eyes met, his gaze filled with sorrow and regrets. "But what would be life without taking risks. Don't you agree my lady?" he retorted on the same bold tone. Her face lit up with hope, staggering forward as if she would faint out of sheer surprise.

I turned around, retching in disgust, the bitter taste of betrayal filling my mouth. I didn't want to be here anymore; I just wanted to leave, to be as far as possible from them, to just rush to my room, lock the door and forget about all of this. I couldn't bear her presence anymore. Yet, before I could turn away the first notes of a slow languorous music rose, covering the constant brouhaha, couples forming all around me, forming a wall between me and Ulrick. I don't know if it was a good or a bad news.

Before long the dance had begun, only the music and the creasing of robes filling the silence, the atmosphere lightening around me, a feeling of carelessness reaching to me. I stood there, in the middle of the dance floor, not knowing where to go or what to do, having lost all my marks in the continuous shifting and constant motion, the many notes tickling my ears in a blissful way, making focusing even harder. And on top of that I lost track of them.

Gritting my teeth I scanned my surroundings, looking for a way out of the circle I found myself stuck into, in the maze of rocking, turning, dancing bodies.

I stumbled forward; violently tossed around like a rag doll in the waves, throwing apologies and polite smiles to people I bumped into. Slipping between dancing couples I managed to get to a less crowded part; and for a good reason. My heart leaped in my chest, eyes going wide in shock. I stepped back, swallowed again by the dancing crowd, oblivious to my presence. Before me, where I stood a second ago a massive tail came sweeping the ground, the thick scaly, spiky appendage noisily thumping the ground. I looked up, an amused grin curling my lips as I laid eyes on the most surprising spectacle of the evening. Kyo and Tarken somewhat dancing together, their necks intertwined, coiled together like two long snakes, their muzzles tilted to the side, jaws locked together in a long passionate kiss, their eyes closed in delight. If there was one thing I didn't expect to see it surely was this. Yet I didn't have time to observe them any longer, brutally shoved backward deeper in the dense crowd. I climbed back on my feet, trying to find my marks, suffocating in that confined and labyrinth-like environment. I let my gaze wander around, looking for… I don't know an exit… or a friendly face maybe.

I couldn't stop thinking that somewhere, lost in the crowd Ulrick was alone with that witch of a girl working her magic on him. There was no denying she was beautiful, not the most gorgeous lady around but a natural beauty of some sort, coupled with the fact she played the genuine innocent, shy little girl so well made her… I suppose irresistible. I wish I could be with him now to stop this, rip her away from him, protect Ulrick, MY ulrick. Yet, another part of me didn't want to, still upset by the fact he so willingly accepted, abandoning me like shit; the other part of me, the voice of reason, growing quieter with each passing second.

And, as I lost myself in my thoughts, sinking deeper in unquenchable rage I found them, or rather stumbled upon them by pure chance. The instant my eyes fell on them my blood boiled, teeth gritting, fists clenching in utter rage and disbelief quickly followed by a wave of despair. They were there dancing, her head resting on his shoulder, cradled by the music. He didn't even seem to mind the slightest, a charming smile floating on his lips… a smile that used to make me melt. I couldn't believe what I was seeing, it couldn't be true; my mind refusing to accept this, unable to tolerate this sight. Yet, despite my burning rage, in spite of the love and rage blended together blazing in my heart, threatening to overwhelm me I turned away, leaving with this scene carved in my mind, a single burning memory that only fueled my anger.

I only wanted one thing, to leave this place and never come back. I could have joined with the other dragons like Kyo but I didn't feel like doing so. I didn't want to be bothering them while they were having fun. Not wishing to ruin the mood I walked toward the exit, balled fists still shaking, anger blooming in my veins, heated waves surging through my very flesh. Slaloming between dancers I tried to find my way to the doors, only to loose myself even more in that constantly shifting maze they formed, cursing and swearing under my breathe which only made it even worse. "That does it…" I finally grumbled, ripping the blindfold of my face. I staggered back, a pained grimace twisting my traits. Dazzled I blinked several time, struggling to adjust to the unexpected rush of light around me. I tensed the crowd pulling apart, taking their distances with me as if I had been infected by some contagious illness or whatever. "Of my goodness!" gasped a voice to my left. "What sorcery is this?" squealed another on the right. "What a horrifying sight." stammered a third. "Is he some kind of hybrid? Poor thing… what a monstrous creation." "God blesses us."

I didn’t listen, their words bouncing harmlessly on me, so used to them they had become mere whispers. My vision finally came back, shifting back and forth between my normal vision and that odd, unusual colorful vision, displaying a range of energies mixed together, forming some sort of a magnificent rainbow. I kept walking in the middle of the crowd, dear to their whispers, the dancers briefly interrupting, pausing to stare at me in shock and dread, their faces turning pale like stone. "Oh my dear look at this, what an unusual looking boy." exclaimed someone near me. I didn't give it much thought until that voice reached my ear again. "What do you say honey isn’t he a pretty young man?" I tensed, feeling weird. I had never been called like this, I didn't recall someone saying something so nice to me ever before beside Ulrick; that same sting of anger resurfacing at the second I thought about him. "And those eyes… how exotic… and look how they shine like diamonds!" kept gushing that voice. "I bet they even glow in the dark." I couldn’t help but nod at that statement, indeed they radiated a slight warm glow in the darkness, making falling asleep an uneasy task.

My eyes described a long circular motion over the room, trying to find that gentle complimenting voice yet it remained out of sight. I resumed walking, slithering my way further in the crowd. “God damn it where did he fly this off time? I ranted under my breath, dodging a dancing couple. I bet he flew straight to the buffet. A wry smile grew on my lips, imagining the small dragon ravenously digging into an overflowing plate, the picture of his bloated belly flashing before my eyes. I spun around, heading the opposite way, taking a long detour to avoid being crushed or kicked off my feet by the dragons, spotting, from the corner of my eyes Alckor and his mates playing chase rather than dancing, a fourth dragon staring at them, planted there like a statue, his expression a mix of annoyance and embarrassment with a few hints of amusement, his tail thumping the floor, his claws wiggling slightly as if he wanted to join but held himself back. A loud happy thrill rose over the music, sending relieved shudders down my spine. I let out a relieved sigh, finally discovering Skye. Immediately I burst into laughter, discovering where he stood. Contrary to what I expected he wasn't filling his belly up, no instead he had found himself a new perch, atop of my grandfather's head, the old man leaning against a table. At my approach Skye flapped his wings joyfully, letting out a plethora of high-pitched squeaks. "There you are little sneaky lizard." I exclaimed, scratching the back of his head, giggling when his tongue dashed a long loving lick across my face. "I must say I am surprised to see him without you." commented the general, not bothered the slightest by the dragon using his head as a perch. "Well… I got kinda lost in the crowd, didn't even notice him flying away." I admitted, feeling guilty, fondling Skye's back, his wings fluttering under my touch, low coos rising from his throat.

"This is one of the reason I avoid the dance floor." grunted my grandfather, I prefer to watch from a distance." "You are… alone?" I mumbled, surprised. "Yes, your grandmother left… this world a long time ago. It's a shame you never met her… she was such a great person…" he sighed nostalgically, a tear pearling at the corner of his eyes. "Oh… I'm… sorry to learn this." I mumbled, sulking deeply, wondering what was left of my family beside him. "Don't be too sad, she would'! Want us to cry her, she lived a long and happy life, and made mine a living dream, and that's what I chose to remember of her." I nodded, acknowledging the words without really hearing them. "Still… I'm glad I have you…" I sighed "Don't know where I would have found Skye if you hadn't been there." I said, letting Skye nuzzle my open palm, greeting them with my most grateful smile. "I did nothing; it's him who came to me." protested my grandfather "there is no need to thank me."

We kept talking, with no inhibition, mindlessly laughing to our hearts contempt; my mood improving with each passing second, the thought of that lady becoming a mere ghostly memory, feasting our eyes on the show the dragons were putting on. "Beautiful aren’t they?" let out my grandfather after a long silence. "Indeed… they are." I admitted, mesmerized by the pairs of dancing dragons, mesmerized by their colorful shimmering scales swirling before my eyes, their large frame intertwining, moving with an incredible agility. "I find them to posses a certain grace." whispered my grandfather. I nodded, my gaze falling on Kyo, still wiggling around the dance floor with his mate, a goofy grin plastered across his face, his eyes hazy with a burning passion as they parted away after another long intense kiss. Next to them Alckor and his friends were enjoying themselves, even the fourth drake seemed to finally get into the groove, almost… smiling even though it looked a bit grimacing from that angle. "I wonder what Skye will look like when he'll grow up." I muttered, my gaze going back and forth between Skye and the other dragon, trying to guess what he could possibly look like. "I'd say he will be a fine dragon." replied my grandfather, landing a hand on my shoulder "you've got yourself a wonderful companion." "I don't doubt that." I admitted. "Ace… can I ask you a question?" he stammered hesitantly. "Sure thing, what do you want to know? I thought I had told you everything about me." "Not everything it seems." he let out in a low chuckle "but… you don't have to answer this one if you don't want to." I frowned, quite surprised by the sudden seriousness in his tone. "What happened to your eyes? I… I have never seen quite like this." "Oh… that’s raight you never saw them." I muttered, recalling I had only removed my blindfold a handful of minutes ago. "It's… a gift Skye did to me." "A dragon gift!" he exclaimed, taking a step back, wide eyes staring at me, scrutinizing me with a whole new look. "I… I had heard of the tales but never thought it was possible." "Seem it is." I giggled; the look on his face hilarious. "How… how is that possible?" "It's… a gift Skye did to me." I explained, Skye warbling in approval. "This is astounding; never thought dragos had that ability." "Didn't know either." I admitted "in all honesty I didn't believe it either at first. But… it's how it is."

"Damn… never imagined dragons haad such powerful magic." he muttered under his breathe "but… may I know why you hide them?" "Well… because it freaks people out most of the time." "Let them be, let them think what they want, this should make your heart swell with pride, not make you embarrassed." he exclaimed, staring at me with a dumbstruck expression, as if I had said the stupidest thing he had ever heard, Skye vigorously nodding his head, chirping encouragingly. "I get that often." I let out, letting my gaze wander away. "You know, people are always afraid of what is new, they fear what they don't understand. It used to be the same with dragons in the time where they were thought to be cruel, vicious, fire-breathing monsters… no offense." he quickly added, Skye snarling on top of his head, as if the words had hurt him. Did he understand this? I nodded, the memory of that voice filling my ears, sending tingle of bliss down my spine. I looked down, my fingers still clenched tight around that band of tissue, pondering what I should do about it. The answer came in quite an unexpected way as a few flames fell on it, the ting instantly catching fire. I gasped, throwing it away, watching it burn, consumed by blue flames, Skye snorting satisfied near my ear, a puff of thick black smoke escaping his nostrils. I smiled, patting him on the head, listening to his low, elated coos as he ground his snout against my hand, asking for more. "I must say he is quite the wonderful companion." whispered my grandfather. "Sure is." I approved, the small dragon letting out high-pitched haéppy squeaks.

I let my gaze roam around the room, smirking at the view of the dragons, a few of them smiling back; then going back to the rather compact crowd of human dancers. Suddenly I froze, breathe stuck in my throat, my heart skipping a beat, eyes bulging wide in shock. There, right in the middle of the dance floor, one couple in particular could only catch all eyes including mine. The mere sight of them had me staggering back, my guts twisting violently, pain rippling inside my belly. My hands shook my whole frame tensing, muscles stiff like cables ready to snap, a surge of scorching heat blooming in my veins. They were there, dancing together, seemingly enjoying themselves, moving in time with the music in perfect sync. I couldn’t stop watching, although I just wanted to turn away, my body refused to obey my brain's command; eyes fixated on them, my heart sinking a bit more with each second I spent staring at them. It felt like I was being ripped apart, my chest aching. They looked so… peaceful, so happy together, her head resting on his shoulder as they danced, a light smile floating on his lips. How could he let this happen, how could he be fine with it? How could he look happy with her. The look of pure enjoyment on their face revolting me. Yet, no one seemed to mind beside me, even the emperor, who was still sitting on his throne, wearing a stoic look on his face, his dragon laying behind him, looking to have fallen asleep. How can anyone let this happen? I thought, my blood boiling with anger. "Ace, is everything alright?" enquired my grandfather, his voice, full of worries, his large hand landing on my shoulder a delightful warmth seeping beneath my skin "you seem… bothered? Is something on your mind?" I remained quiet; jaws clamped shut, teeth gritted together. "No I'm fine…" I snarled, peering my eyes away "but I think it's time for me to leave." "What…? But… why?" he gasped, surprised. "These people make me sick." I spat, turning to face him, eyes blazing with pure rage. Before he could argue I grabbed Skye, hands latching around his flanks. A loud shriek ripped the silence apart, covering the music, Skye squirming, backing away, reaffirming his grip on my grandpa's head, his pleading look doing little to make me change my mind. My fingers wrapped around his warm smooth scales, tugging at him until he finally let go, squirming and trashing against my grip, paws kicking hieratically, claws scraping at my forearms, wings furiously fluttering, throwing powerful gusts of wind at my face, tail lashing out like a whip. I grimaced, tightening my grasp around him, walking away under the watch of dozens of wondering eyes, Skye still struggling, crying out for help, his hig-pitched pleading squeaks heart-breaking. I tried to remain deaf to his calls, heading straight for the exit, but I couldn't stop them from flowing in my head, our bond overflowing with a mix of sorrow, fear, and panic.

I had never seen Skye like this and I felt so bad for doing this to him but I couldn't stay in this room anymore; I’d fine a way to make it up to him later. Each step became a living nightmare, his emotions rampaging through my head, my vision blurring, my strength fading as, in my arms Skye kept relentlessly squirming, trying with all he had to escape.

"That noise…" I gasped, snapping out of that state of trance I had dove head-first into. Standing face to face with Tarken I looked around with a haggard look, panting, breathless, feeling all warm and tingly, my tail flagged high behind me, my slit itching, a sensation of dampness spreading around my crotch. "What… what was that…?" I mumbled, my hazy brain struggling to make sense of what I saw, still overtaken with sheer lust. "Hush… that was intense…" stammered Tarken, in the same dazed state, drooling heavily, a goofy grin floating on his lips, his eyes blissfully foggy. I nodded, sensing the sweet potent fragrance of his musk in the air, yet still scanning the room. The cris doubled in intensity, my instincts kicking in, cleansing my mind of the arousal. "Skye…" I gasped, recognizing that hig2/pitcbed childish voice squealing, crying for help. I spun around, baring my fangs, ready to attack…just to freeze, jaws dropping in utter shock, eyes bulging wide in disbelief. "What… what's going on? Why is he leaving? Why is Skye crying?" I stammered, trying to piece together what was going on. "Don't know but he seems pretty upset." replied Tarken, coming to my level, his broad wing delicately falling on my back. "Yes… but… about what?" I muttered, frowning in incomprehension. "Oh… I think I just found the answer." sighed Tarken, poking at my snout with a claw "look". "What an asshole…" I hissed, discovering the scene "how can he do it to him? I thought they loved each other." "Don’t jump on conclusions Kyo, I think the situation if far more complex than you imagine." whispered Tarken "For me it looks… off… wrong if you wish." "You mean it isn't real?" I squeaked, staring at him dumbstruck. "It's hard to tell… but it's what it looks like from my point of view. He is just doing it for good measure, to keep up the appearances and not offend anyone." "So… why is Ace leaving then? Isn't he aware of that?" I shouted. "I suppose he is but Kyo… don’t you think it’s hard for someone to watch their mate be with another although you know they're only pretending?" "No… I… I didn't say that!" I protested, feeling the air tensing between us, an all-too familiar bitterness seeping in our bond. "If I was him I would be very pissed off." growled Tarken, addressing me a gaze heavy of hidden meanings, regrets flooding my being. "Tarken… I … I already apologized to you a thousand times." I mumbled, feeling guilty all the same. "I know Kyo… I just want to make sure it won’t happen again and that you understand how I felt when I realized you had cheated on me." purred Tarken, hugging my neck affectionately.

I let myself go, resting my head on top of his neck, cradled by hi, low purrs humming in his throat, our scales grinding softly, heat spreading through me. Yet, in the back of my head another part of me was having… different thought, a deep voice echoing in my mind, trying to silence his laughter. "What's making you laugh?" I growled, pulling away, glaring at the black dragon-shaped cloud materializing next to me, Kaos covering his mouth with both paws, his crimson eyes glinting mischievously. "Don't be stupid Kyo…" he giggled, avoiding my stare "you know that answer." I froze, ¤sighi,ng before reluctantly nodding my head affirmatively. "He is upset… very upset…" I whispered, following Ace as he walked out. "He is overflowing with energy." added Alckor, sneaking under one of my wings, seeking their warm and affectionate shelter, his smaller frame shaking with each low chuckles that escaped his maw "and he is about to blow…. "Aoe I wouldn't want to be the guy on whom his wrath will be unleashed." shushed Kaos, wrapping his coils around us both, a strange sensation of coldness seeping underneath my scales.

Finally… I'm out of here, Skye is still struggling, trashing against, his jaws snapping shut on bare, clawing at my claws, his tail slapping my flanks and belly but I didn't care, I just wanted to leave, to get as far away as possible from that place, to forget about that whole night. The instant I stepped in the corridor I felt better, taking a deep breath of fresh air. Skye seemed to slightly calm down, still growling and barking at me but at least he stopped squirming, preparing to adopt a grumpy expression, glaring at me angrily, his face twisted by an angry snarl. "Sorry buddy…" I sighed, giving his head an apologetic rub. He huffed, dodging my hand, before slipping out of my grasp, leaping into the sky. I waited, hoping he would land on my shoulder but he kept flying next to me at a safe distance, darting suspicious eyes at me. I dipped my head low, unable to sustain his gaze, feeling tears well up in my eyes. Gritting my teeth I took a step forward in the quiet room, glad it was empty; I didn’t want to run into someone in my current mood. Suddenly the silence filled with an unexpected noise coming from… behind me, the sound of clapping hands reaching my ears, shouting voices rippling through the corridor, yelling words of praise. A freezing cold tide of fear washed over me, wild shivers running down my spine. What could make them so happy, so chearful? I spun around and… almost fell to my knees, my legs wobbling under me. "No… no… no… no it can't be… it can't be happening!" I stammered, crumbling under an all-crushing wave of despair. There, right before my eyes as if to taunt me they stood, entwined together, Ulrick's hands wrapped around her, leaning forward while she was standing almost parallel to the ground, her feet barely touching the floor, her hands around his head. But what was worst was what they were doing, their lips firmly pressed together in a passionate kiss right as the last notes of music faded away in the air, wiped away by the noisy crowd cheering them up, showing their utter approval.

I stood there, unable to look somewhere else, drawn back to them like a magnet each time I tried to look away. I stuttered, holding to the doorframe to not fall out of pure desperation and around them the crowd kept cheering them up, oblivious to my presence, to my sorrow. I felt helpless, powerless, as they kept kissing. A tidal wave of rage washed over me, wiping all the sorrow away. How could he? How dare he do that to me? What am I to him? Was I just a pawn, a distraction to him? No… no it couldn't be. I shook my head, revolted by that idea. Muffing that honeyed voice whispering its poison in my head, caging it in a corner of my mind I focused my hardest on them although looking at them, at their joined lips, at the delight painted on their face made me want to throw up. "This is odd…" I thought, my sharp gaze noticing a few details in their position and the way they held each other. Ulrick seemed tense, slightly nervous, his expression not as elated as I thought at first glance. Instead he seemed kinda… surprise, unprepared, as if it had happened too quickly for him to understand. And the way he held her was unusual too, his grip on her was firm, as if… to prevent hear from falling down, not just a dance. Meanwhile she seemed to hold onto him for dear life, both arms wrapped around his neck… pressing him forward. Was he… forcing him into a kiss? But… why would she do that?

Memories of her first apparition popped back into my head, the way she tripped over as she said and fell on him; back then I knew it wasn't a clumsiness that it had been done on purpose. Could it be the same again?

I shivered, my gaze finally meeting Ulrick's own, his eyes imprinted with incomprehension and guilt as he stared back at me in a silent apology. I felt a new heat surging in my heart, my blood boiling with renewed anger, this time directed at her.

I stood up again, each cell of my body tingling with determination. I stepped back into the room, heading straight for them, people around me stepping aside at my approach. The world around me became a blur, terrified faces turning into pale mask floating in emptiness, the world loosing all it’s colors to turn a uniform shade of grey, and, in the center of that endless immensity stood a beacon of bright light; a dazzling whiteness illuminating the world with it's brightness and greatness and, entangled with him a darker, vile presence wrapping it's tendrils around him. I had to do something… I had to stop this before it was too late. I reached out, my hand clasping her shoulder, the world shifting again, recovering its colors right in time for me to see the expression of dismay on her face as she pulled away. She glared at me with hate-filled eyes, her mouth opening only for a tiny almost inaudible gasp to get out. "Don't you dare touch him…" I hissed through gritted teeth, yanking her away.

Shocked gasps rose all around me as she roughly met the ground, rumors spreading like whispers on the wind, the crow moving, shifting around us, everyone trying to get to the first row to see all the action. Rumor hungry vultures” I growled under my breath. "Thanks" shushed Ulrick, his gratitude warming my heart, a happy smile growieg on my lips.

"How rude of you!" she roared, climbing back to her feet, sweeping the dust of her clothes, that genuine expression gone, replaced by a face of true anger "how do you even dare touching me. You're gonna be in big trouble you hear me!" "Silence!" I roared, forcing her to back away "you are not getting close to Ulrick again you hear me bitch!" I growled. "Who do you think you are to order me around like this?" she snapped back frowning as she walked back to me "I have no order to receive from you, you insignificant fool." she hissed boldly. I didn't flinch, remaining between Ulrick and her, an immovable rock blocking her way forward "now get out of the way before I call for the guards." she added, menacingly. I only shrugged, crossing my arms, darting daring eyes at her. "If you don't step aside now I will have the guards make you move and trust me they are… far less gentle and understanding than me so move out of the way if you don't want anymore trouble… you're already lucky enough I'm not holding any grudge against you for all the trouble you caused." she grumbled, trying to get around me. "No…" I hissed, shoving her away "I forbid you to touch Ulrick." "You're persistent aren't you? Beside… how even dare you call the prince by his name?" "The prince is… a dear…" my throat knotted, preventing that retched word from coming out. "He is very dear to me and I won't just stand there and watch you try to get you way with him." this time she tensed "did you honestly think I didn't notice the wa0 you acted but 0kour trick won't deceive me, they never did, I saw right through you from the beginning and I am not allowing you to get any closer to him." I rumbled, keeping a close eye on her. "And who would believe a weirdo like you? Do you have any clue of who I am?" "No and I don't give a damn about your title. You can shove it down your throat and choke on it for what I care but I am not letting you get close from MY Ulrick."

I froze, astonished by the boldness in my own words, my brain barely catching up to the words forming on my tongue. Did I just… did I just say it? Did I just speak it out loud? I blushed profusely, looking at my feet yet… deep within… I felt great, a huge weight removed from my heart. I felt lighter, relieved of a burden I had bore alone for too long. Slowly I lifted my head, our gazes crossing, the shock on her face a delightful sight. "Your Ulrick…" she stammered, cocking her head to the side. "You heard correctly." I retorted, grinning toothily. "This is the silliest thing I have ever heard!" she exploded, bursting out laughter. This time I was the dumbstruck one, staring at her wondering if she hadn't just lost her sanity. "W-what's… what's so funny?" ^I stammered, throwing Ulrick an enquiring gaze, Skye, still perched atop my shoulder, warbling cutely, and scaly eye ridges frowned, his lips pulling back, revealing his pointy teeth. "You're even more of a weirdo than I thought." she giggled, gasping for breathe, a hand pressed to her chest as if laughing so much hurt her "this is almost adorable… but still so pointless…" she sighed, snapping her fingers. "What did you say?" I growled boiling with anger. "Really nice timing for a coming out but it is pointless, everyone knows the prince isn't gay." she spat, only earning a provoking smirk from me. "What's making you smile." she huffed. "Oh… nothing…" I chuckled, still smiling. "Whatever…" she sighed with a disregarding glare in my direction. "You know… when I was told you were here I expected… I don’t know… more…" she let out, a hint of disappointment transpiring in her voice. I listened closely, intrigued by her words "but I guess you're just another rotten fruit of the bad branch of the family." she spat. I tensed, sensing the blood boil in my veins, my head filling up with hateful thought. Who was she to dare and insult me like this. I mean… sure on that point I couldn't disagree with her but… not all of them were bad. Just to confirm it I spotted my grandfather amongst the crowd, powerlessly watching the scene unfold. "What do you mean by that?" I snarled "do we know each other?" "No we don’t… and I'm glad I never met you before. I’m glad I could preserve my eyes from the sight of your face."

I didn't respond but my throat burned with more insults than I thought I knew. Yet I kept my lips sealed. "You must not know it but… as it seems we are cousins." I gulped down, my heart skipping a beat, the silence falling on the assembly around us, hushing voices spreading the news faster than the wind. "Cousins…" I repeated, astonished. “Yes, I am miss Mariane, second daughter of knight Albert, your uncle." "P-pleased… to… to meet you…" I mumbled, hesitant between contempt and kindness. "Not a shared pleasure…” she retorted "I wish we never met. Why couldn't you stay dead like everyone believed?" I staggered back, grimacing in pain. No one seemed to react to her words beside me, so I held still, energy blooming inside me, a ragging storm about to break loose. "And… I don't get how you can even show up in public with how deformed you are. I know your side of the family as been known for giving birth to some of the most rotten people who ever walked the earth but you… you are the living incarnation of their true nature." „"Shut up…" I hissed, fists balled, teeth clenched tight. "You know… I was told your story… at first I understood how hard it could be for you but now… now I only fine you disgusting. I heard people saying that a dragon gifted you those new eyes. Then let me tell you they just make you uglier and, even… even in the possibility where the prince was gay, I'm sure he would never take you as mate. I can only suppose you arrived here by trickery and deception. A dragon blessing a human with such gift… what a bunch of nonsense!" she exploded, her voice echoing in my heart, hurting more than all the whispered rumors about me "and even if it was true… damn he screwed up." she laughed loudly. This time even Skye growled, standing as tall as he could on my shoulder, looking as impressive as he could. I kept my eyes on her, watching her laugh, oblivious to what she had triggered, the energy swirling beneath my skin, an invisible hurricane growing mightier and more devastating with no holding back. I wished with all my heart, with all my soul she would shut up, vanish, burn to the ground into a nice pile of ashes or be blown away, erased from reality; no matter how and what did it I just wanted her to be gone.

"Oh my god look at that!" yelled someone, the voice full of terror "what the hell is this?" shouted another. The whole room shook on it's foundations, a loud rumbling noise rising. A violent deflagration spread across the room, a violent blast of wind whipping my face, the sound of an ear-splitting explosion tearing through the crowd, tall blue flames surging forward, slithering along the walls, thick smoke and dust puffing out, turning the air into a thick irrespirable dust-filled mixture that clung to my lungs and throat. The crowd disbanded, screaming people running away in complete chaos, trying to get as far as possible from the ragging inferno. I remained there, speechless, petrified by shock, my mind racing with questions after blanking out for a long minute. What happened? Is it an attack? I couldn't move my eyes away from the chaos as servants rushed to the scene with water, trying to contain the flames while guards formed a perimeter, preventing anyone from getting too close. The blazing, unnaturally blue flames spurted from an alcove, taking all the available space, climbing along the curved walls, spat out like from the maw of a dragon. There… I could recall it there was a big dragon statue. A shiver ran down my spine, eyes falling on a piece of burning rock lying on the floor a few meters from the fire, consumed by the same ravenous flames.

"My god… what have I done…" I mumbled, understanding what had just happened. Terror crept over me in the blink of an eye, fear sinking deep inside me. The same thing as earlier, the same uncontrolled power boiling inside me.

No time to wonder; guards rushed upon me, the crowd pulling apart around them. The next instant I was surrounded by a dozen men, just as many swords pointing at my throat, Skye squeaking in fright rushing to cover in my hands, culling in a tight ball, instincts kicking it, flooding the bond tugging at the back of my head, urging me to flea from the danger. I tried to keep calm, throwing a circular look around me. They weren't imperial guards I could tell that at first sight, different weapons, armors, even the coats-of-arms looking foreign to me. Probably her personal guard. "You tried to attack me!" she roared, pointing an accusing finger at me. I could only dip my head low; indeed, the statue that blew up was right behind her. "Guards make sure he regrets his actions… all of them." she hissed; the guards acknowledged with a discreet nod, tightening their circle around me, the tip of their blades caressing my throat, the cold steel tickling my skin, their hot breathes billowing over my face. I took a step back only to feel new swords pressing against my back. I tensed; there is no escape, no way out of this. I closed my eyes, clutching Skye tighter against my chest, feeling his soft scales tremble in my grasp, radiation a reassuring warmth. Oddly enough they felt… somewhat warmer than usual, so hot it almost burned. I felt the swords pull away, the men stepping back. My eyes snapped open, falling immediately on Skye, a gasp stuck in my throat, eyes bulging wide in shock. I could feel it, the tremendous amount of energy coursing through him, emanating from him, a bright blue glow enveloping him, small flames seeping between his scales. In an instant he ignited like a torch, turning into a lively ball of fire but, strangely they didn't hurt, I didn't feel the burn of the fiery tendrils lashing at my skin. He stood up, defiant, glaring at the guards, growling and rumbling menacingly, but his voice… his voice was… deeper, mightier, transpiercing me with ft's raw power.

Suddenly a violent light burst the small form I cupped in my hands, a dazzling glow swallowing us all, panicked shouts bursting in all directions, succeeding to more and more cries of fear. Even with eyes screwed shut as hard as possible that light managed to slip past my eyelids, blinding me while in my hands, Skye, the source of that sudden surge of light held perfectly still. Wait, what was that… I thought, an invisible force tugging at my hands, trying to force me to let go of him, pulling the little dragon away from me. I tried to withstand the attraction, pulling back the opposite way, muscles bending under strain put by the increasing force. I cracked an eye open, watching through the bright blue light the small creature engulfed in flames. I felt him slip away, unable to hold onto those slippery scales, I could only watch helplessly as he rose into the air, culling in a tight fiery ball; reaching out desperately I tried to grab him but he remained out of reach.

The light increased, a second flash hitting me right in the face, sending me to the ground, covering my face with both arms, whining in pain, tears of despair rolling down my cheeks.

Suddenly a mighty roar, the mightiest I had ever heard rippled the room, quaking every fiber of my being, the ground trembling under a heavy impact, deep rumbles echoing through me. Shaking I looked up, finding myself face to face with a massive tall blue dragon towering over me, paws planted on each side of me, his impressive frame shadowing me, his broad wings extended on either side casting a large shadow over the guards, blue flames spurting from his parted maw, vivid blue eyes looking at each man one by one, keeping them at a good distance with a simple look. He surely looked intimidating, long claws and sharp fangs a clear enough threat for them to stay away, still not lowering their weapon the slightest. "S-S-Skye…?" I squeaked, at a loss for words, pondering between excitement, amazement and worry. What had happened to him? How could he be so big all of a sudden? How could he have grown so much in just the blink of an eye? But, despites all my worries and fears, beside all those unanswered questions I had to admit he was magnificent, a marvelous looking tall drake a lean form betraying taut muscles however, even though the changes had been so drastic I quickly noticed that usual joyful glint in his eyes. He bowed his large snout down, his eyes glowing like two wildfires, his angry snarl turning into a warm reassuring grin the instant we made eye-contact.

Suddenly he lifted his snout, deep rumbles building in his throat, fire slithering out from the corner of his maw, the temperature rising up around him as he move into a defensive stance, hiding me behind the bulk of his chest. Following his eyes I watched as the soldiers backed away, their faces pale masks of fear. They held their blades in front of them in an useless attempt to fend off the dragon, my dragon. "What are you doing you dummies?! Get him!" she roared, her voice shaking, full of fear; damn I had almost forgotten about her. "Miss… it's a dragon." protested one . "You idiot! My family isn't paying you to think so do your job and shut that stinky mouth of yours! Beside… it's only some magic so stop being a coward ."

All of them stiffened, tightening their grips around their swords, some swallowing difficultly. They stepped forward. "Stay where you are…" growled a deep rumbling voice, each of it's words making me shudder, rolling like thunder out of the mouth who spoke them. "You can talk!" I yelped scolding myself for being so surprised, oh course he would have gained that ability two after his… growth spurt. "Stay away!" he roared, his snapping his jaws shut, holding the guards at a safe distance. "One more step… and it will be your last…" he warned, his low, deep manly voice sending chills down my spine. It felt… so incredible to hear him talk, his deep tone toppling my heart over, making my guts twist and my bones chill. "But I'd love to see you try…" he added, his broad tongue dashing across his lips, his sharp deadly fangs covered in thick spit glistening in the light. "I'd listen to him if I were you…" I shouted, getting back to my feet. The soldiers held their grounds but I could read in their expression their only wish was to leave. "Stop foolish around and show him what it'll cost him to get in my way." she growled, shoving one of her men forward,. The poor guy stumbled forward, finding himself aat eye-level with Skye. " Any further… and I'll make you my next meal…" he hissed, blazing flames like drool dripping along his chin. "See… I’ve got quite the big belly to fill now… and you'll do just nicely." The man dropped his swords, spinning around before running away. "And you… all of you…" kept growling Skye, turning his attention to the remaining men forming a circle around us "dare to touch him… just a scratch to his face and I'll burn you down!" he roared, a stream of blue flames spilling from his gaping maw, the bright flames fading a mere inch away from the guards faces. "No one harms my daddy without suffering the consequences."

I froze, looking up; did he just call me dad… or did I dream it; but… just the word alone had a nice ring to it, a great warmth blossoming in my chest. "And… for those who doubt; who spread rumors about him listen closely." he hissed, baring his fangs menacingly, his blazing gaze slowly strolling over the quiet, shivering assembly, the stench of fear waffling at my nose "whatever you believe… know that he didn't trick me… how could he have anyway…" he let out, his tone softening with each word "there was no manipulation… I chose him; hear that I chose him; with my heart and soul I chose him to be my rider." he shouted, his deep voice bounding against the high wall lingering long enough for everyone to acknowledge just as our eyes met, his burning with an intensity I had never seen before; a certitude that filled me with new strength.

"It's starting" warned Alckor, chirping happily, tail wagging impatiently, eyes homed onto Ace. Our focus immediately shifted to him, yet, from the corner of my eyes I couldn’t stop myself from noticing my little brother drooling, as if he was… hungry. I shivered, a terrifying thought sending cold chills down my spine. Was it due to his power? Was he drawn to them in some way? I mean we could all feel the air tingle with energy but, did it have more effect on him than us? Did he crave for it? It was hard to tell… I had never seen such power in action before. "Don't worry Kyo he is alright” whispered Kaos, his soft tone doing little to appease me. "I don't know… he looks… weird… hungry… it's creeping me out." I whimpered, truly terrified. "Don't be afraid, it's normal, he can sense all the energy overflowing in the air… and it is quite thick with energy as we speak. But don't worry he'll be fine, he won't lash at someone to suck them dry of their energy; he just needs some time to get used to such tremendous amounts of energy… he'll need it anyway if he wants to succeed in his plan…" he added with a darker, deeper tone full of unspoken meanings. I nodded, my heart sinking at the mere thought of what he would have to do.

I had no time to wonder, a sudden agitation taking over the room, ear-splitting screams tearing the silence apart, the mass of people shifting, trying to gat far from something, far from a side of the room. Weird… I thought, frowning, sensing that same tingle of energy in the air getting more powerful. "Watch out!" yelled someone, pointing at something hidden from where I stood. An explosion shook the room, dust and smoke puffing out from the wall, swirling as it rose, debris flying in all directions, turned into fiery projectiles, tall blue flames sprouting, through the smoke, lashing out at everything in their vicinity. I tensed, claws digging in the floor, my sharp instincts on edge, pumping adrenaline in my veins. I stared, jaws dropping in shock, scanning my surroundings, it could only have come from a dragon… but… who? I immediately got my answer. "Hey looks like he blew off that cute dragon statue you seemed so fond off." chuckled Tarken mockingly, bumping me into the side. "What?" I mumbled, cocking my head to the side. "Don't play dumb Kyo; you know what I'm talking about." he purred, grinning toothily "You don't remember you bragging about having a bigger tool than him? Well… look like it won't bother you anymore." I blushed, looking away. "Wow… I didn't expect that…" stammered Kaos "that's… quite the destruction he caused." admitted Alckor, astonished, backing up beneath my belly. "With how much he is boiling up inside it's normal it ends up… blowing…" I murmured, my whole body uncontrollably shaking.

A violent, dazzling light ignited, surging from where Ace stood an instant ago. "What's… what's happening?" mumbled Allen, his hand prodding around, caressing my scales, looking for something to help locate himself. "Don’t know… gosh I can't see a damn thing… stay close to me." I winced, eyes sealed shut, grimacing, tryiog to look awaay but it seemed to breach through my eyelids with ease. "Wow… I have never felt something like this before" stammered Kaos "it's… strong… I think she really set him off to trigger such a flood of energy." "You bet" I snorted, nudging myself close to Tarken to not loose him in the not stopping white glow. "What the hell is it?" I shouted, cringing, the light flooding my eyes, going through me, living me with the feeling of a burn. "I… I don't know but it's full of magic…" winced Alckor, his scales brushing against my foreleg.

I took a step back, wincing in discomfort, bowing my head down to try and advert my eyes from the scene. Around me the world had vanished, swallowed in the light, turning everything a perfect blinding white, quiet and infinite in which I drowned myself, loosing all my marks. I couldn't see a thing yet my other senses kept sending me warnings; that tingle of energy intensifying even more, little electrical shocks striking me from every side.

A roar… a roar like no other, the roar of a dragon broke through the veil, a mighty, dominant, full of unbound strength, the ground shaking beneath my paws, the light finally dissipating. That voice… I had never heard it before but my whole body, every cell, every scale, every inch of me pounding in time with it, my more dominant side stirred to life by the appearance of another dominant dragon, stronger than all the others I had seen before, on edge, as if it felt endangered, threatened by it. Head up, ears perked I searched for the source of that so manly voice, shuddering as it's last remnants faded into thin air, still echoing in my ears, my groin tingling with arousal, my slit wetting to my own dismay, my cheeks flushed a bright red. And oh boy how could I miss that, my eyes bulging wide in shock, witnessing the appearance of a new dragon shrouded in flames, radiating a warm blue glow; but, despite all the changes I still recognized him, his vivid blue eyes still glinting with that same youth and joy. "S-S-S-Skye…" I sputtered. "I-I-Impossible…" gasped Kaos, shrinking down to the size of a small ball. "Such… power…» whispered Alckor from below me, snout peaking out from under me, staring with wide eyes at the dragon. "What’s… what's wrong?" I enquired, worried. "He… he managed to create… an… apparition…" squawked Kaos "What?" we all gasped in union "how?" "I… I don't know… it's… impossible… this teaching took me decades to master just to appear like you see me now… and he… he did that without breaking a sweat." mumbled Kaos, obviously impressed, envy peaking in his trembling voice. "That's… impressive…" I admitted "and he… is… pretty cute I must say." I squeaked, lowering my snout to the ground, feeling the weight of Tarken's gaze on my hide, tugging at our bond. "Kyo…" he growled, glaring at me, shaking his head in disbelief. "What! I'm not saying I'm interested; I'm just being honest here; he is pretty attractive." "And dominant to…" huffed Tarken, "felt his influence on me." "You mean…" mumbled Allen, listening closely. "Yes, he is an alpha." confirmed Tarken.

And a pretty strong one on top of that." I added. "You felt it!" shouted Tarkan, taking a step back, observing me with a mix of curiosity and amusement. "No… he just made me shiver a bit but I sensed his presence." "Damn… he will make for a pretty strong dragon when he'll grow up." commented Tarken. "And he'll have all the others crawling at his feet… for a handful of good reasons." we sniggered, nodding in approval. "Pervert lizzard…" grunted Kyle.

We waited, listening with all our ears, his deep manly voice sending shivers down my spine. He was strong and he had the voice to match, combined with a cold determination in his voice, nodding our head in acknowledgment every time he spoke. I let my gaze wander away, observing the stunned faces of all the guest with a childish amusement, going further and further out until my gaze fell on the emperor, or rather his dragon.

I smiled, discreetly spying on him; he had his maw hanging open, eyes glued to Skye, scrutinizing him in deep, a light blush creeping over his cheeks, reddening by the seconds, stuttering on his paw as if he was uncomfortable with something, his wings ruffling uncontrollably while his tail wagged excitedly. "Daw… how adorable…" I cooed "hey Tarken have a look at this…" I hushed, nudging his neck. "Quiet Kyo I'm trying to listen." he huffed, shoving me away. "Come on you must see that…" I persisted, nibbling at his chin, "Fine… what do you want…" he growled reluctantly, looking annoyed. "Just look…" I whispered, pointing at the imperial dragon.

"Oh… looks like someone is having a crush…" he chuckled, our scales grinding involuntarily, his warmth seeping underneath my scales. "Can't wait to see them together." "Yes… they'd make a nice couple…" I approved.

At that exact moment Skye turned around, facing the emperor, his eyes crossing the dragon's own, a kind smile drawing on his lips, enlightening his face. The imperial dragon backed away, his blush deepening even more,, his cheeks turning a deep crimson red. Grimacing a smile, his embarrassment growing visible by everyone he turned away, avoiding eye contact with Skye; the blue drake grinning even more, a glimmer of malice crossing his eyes, his tail widely swaying behind him. "Yeah it's confirmed, our dear imperial dragon has fallen in love." giggled Tarken, our eyes meeting. "You know… there’s one thing we've got in common." he added, bowing his head down. "Oh… what is it?" I enquired, draping a wing over his shivering frame. "I can't get enough of you…" he whispered, pressing his lips against mine. I closed my eyes, giving into the kiss, reaching out with a paw, caressing the soft scales of his neck, bumping against the scars my teeth had left there. "And I can't get enough of you either…" I purred, pulling him in closer for another kiss. "Hush wait till we're back in the room." he cooed in my ear, planting a soft kiss on my cheek. "I can hardly wait."

I can't look away, so amazed by what happened, staring in disbelief at the tall dragon, my brain struggling to accept the fact it was Skye, my hands still clutching empty air where he was merely a few minutes ago. It was… so magical… so unbelievable but yet here he was, staring at me, that same face, that same cheerfulness in his expression, the same strong link uniting us, burning with indefectible love, feeling stronger than before, an indestructible chain tying us to each other. I closed my eyes, letting his emotions flood my head, a delightful warmth spreading inside me. I felt great, protected, and, for the first time I felt stronger, ready to overcome every obstacle with him by my side and, for the first time I didn't doubt. "I'm here for you…" his voice rang in my mind "I'll never let anyone hurt you." I nodded, making the very same vow.

"Now miss… try anything against my rider and I swear I will have no mercy!" he roared right into her face, blue sparkles blowing over her pale skin.

"That's enough" called the emperor, rising from his throne, his severe glare falling onto us. I gulped down, looking at my feet. "Guards lower your swords immediately." he ordered, his loud commanding voice attracting all the attention "do you know how much of a crime against the empire you are committing? Do you have any idea of the insult you are doing to my country and to the dragon order by pointing your blades at one of their representative, an unarmed man on top of that." the guards seemed to hesitate for a split second. "Let me give you a word of advice. Lower your swords and back off immediately or I’ll be forced to take drastic measures." This time they obeyed, sheathing their swords, breaking the circle. "Great, now escort your lady outside before I take matters into my own hands and kick her out like the rest of her family." he roared, pointing the exit. This time there was no hint of hesitation on their face, even she remained quiet, looking down. The guards turned around, leaving the room without the word with her going first.

I sighed, not bothering to hide my relief, Skye snorting in satisfaction, a few flames slithering out between his lips. "Oh no you're not melting her down." I chuckled, patting his broad chest, my hand going through, his form blurring slightly, disturbed like the calm surface of a pond in which a rock had been thrown. I backed away, spooked, looking up, his expression becoming more serious. "Don't be so surprised, you didn't really expect me to grow that quickly did you?" he chuckled, his deep voice filling my head, sending shivers down my spine. "Well… maybe…" I mumbled, my face flushed red. "Soon…" he whispered, nuzzling me, once again his ghostly form traversing me, dissolving upon making contact with my face, heat surging within me, my eyes closing, his deep purrs shaking each cell of my body.

"You know, I might be repeating myself but you really have a great dragon!" exclaimed my grandfather, appearing next to me, looking at Skye with pride and gratitude in his eyes, Skye bowing his head humbly. "Yes… and I keep realizing it with each passing day…" I replied, our eyes meeting, a broad cheerful smile growing on Skye's lips, that same utter happiness and joy shining bright into his eyes, his fiery irises blazing with the same affection. I sighed deeply, observing him with more attention, stopping on each tiny detail, wondering if he would look exactly like this or if it was some sort of idealized version of himself to scare enemies away… but deep inside me I wished he would look just as awesome, and handsome as right now.

Around us people were still chatting, the music having not restarted yet, and with no one in the mood to dance it didn't look like it would resume soon. Skye suddenly tensed, lips pulling back over his fangs, deep growls humming in his throat, snarling menacingly, adopting a defensive stance. I spun around, looking for the danger, heart racing in my chest, adrenaline rushing in my veins and yet, there waas nothing, not a sign of danger at the horizon. So what was he growling at then? Perking my ears I listened, throwing a circular glance around me., not noticing anything out of the ordinary. "Hey… thanks for saving my butt over there." mumbled a voice in my ear, a hot breathe caressing my neck. My whole body went numb; my muscles melting like butter, my heart rate slowing down. I didn't need to look back to know who was here. "What would you do without me…" I chuckled, gently pouncing him. "No seriously Ace… I mean it; she… was getting very… forward." "I saw that you charmer." "Thanks for rubbing it in…" he grumbled, getting even closer, shushing in my ear "but come on… you really believe I kissed her?" I remained quiet "she just freaking manipulated me from the start… she knew what she was doing from the first second… and well… I got caught into it." he sighed, his voice full of regrets "I was just trying to hold her… I thought she was about to fall… and she just kissed me. Damn I should have seen her coming… she was a really deceitful one." "Yes… luckily her deception doesn’t work on everyone." I huffed, only willing to avoid that subject, my blood still red-got from all the anger welling up in me.

"Yes… I'm damn glad you were there." he murmured, putting a hand on my shoulder, our eyes finally crossing for the first time. Sadly even his presence couldn’t erase all the rage still boiling within me, ready to explode; bribes of words still reaching me, cold blades sinking in my already bleeding wounds… "Have you seen what he did?” whispered one "he could have killed someone." No… my guess is it was just a warning." retorted another "if he had wanted someone dead then they would be history already." "Maybe… but have you really looked at him? He isn't human? He is a monster… what else is he capable of?" doubted a third one, a few agreeing silently around him. "Yes… it's true… I have never seen powers like his." "You must admit he already caused quite a mayhem since he arrived." added another "but you also have to admit she deserved it." retorted yet another, the debate growing louder and louder, more people adding their voices and opinions into the mix. "But… seriously though, do you really believe him? Do you think he could truly be in love with the prince?" enquired one. "I don't know it's entirely possible." responded another, his voice ringing of uncertainty. "Nah, I wouldn't give him credit, I bet he's just saying that to soften us and in fact everyone knows the emperor wouldn't allow such union."

I froze, crumbling, my legs wobbling under me. Could i! be? Would the emperor truly forbad us to love each other; would he prevent this union, but if he was against it, why wouldn't he prevent us from seeing each other, he had plenty of reasons to send me away, a whole array of options on where to do so, and opportunities to have us far apart so why waiting so lonag, he could have stopped us the instant Ulrick kissed me that fateful morning. "You're making a point, there so why would he act like this?" "Love is blind and knows no boundaries." sighed a woman. "It's only in books…" grunted another in disagreement "I bet he has something on his mind." "Like what?" "Have you seen what he is capable of doing, so… I don't know… maybe he is trying to get his claws on the prince. Imagine what he could do if he had him at his mercy… he could take over the whole empire in no time." exclaimed one, the word spreading fast "What a silly idea!" shouted another "he may be strong but he cannot surpass the emperor." "I wouldn't be so sure about that if I were you" snapped another "look at what he has already done" he added, pointing at the still ragging inferno of dancing blue flames "beside, with a dragon by his side he is almost invincible." grunted another "not many can rival with one of them on equal terms." "But what's the point for blunt force when you can deceive." questioned one "imagine, with all his power it would be easy for him to submit other to his will with just a few tricks…" "Are you… are you implying he is a wizard of some sort?" "I'm not implying, I'm certain of it; only a seasoned wizard could master such advanced and destructive magic. But he is no ordinary wizard I can tell you that; he is a black wizard." "How could you say that! He is so young!" argued a lady. "Youth has nothing to do with this; anyone can get drowned in the depth of magic. I mean, look at him he is obviously suffering from overuse of magic, look at what he did to himself…" "So are you trying to say he could… be plotting against us as we speak?" "I'm sure of it.”

The rumor grew louder, greater, doubt plaguing the assembly, the few murmured suspicions quickly becoming a fully blown riot.

"Oh no not again…" I sighed, looking at the ceiling in disbelief. "Don't worry daddy, I will protect you." rumbled Skye, his massive form covering me, casting a large shadow over the crowd, people pointing accusing fingers at me, shouts flying like volleys of arrows, bolts of pain shaking my whole being, the venom in their words showering me, sinking under my flesh, hurting more that any weapon could. They say words are the best weapon of mankind, and they're god damn right. Skye could defend me from physical but he could do so little against their insults.

"Silence!" roared a voice, a voice I started getting used to; the emperor, his voice mingling with the mighty roar of his dragon, soon joined by yet another that sent shivers running down my spine; Kyo, his voice full of that same unbound dominance; a fourth roar rising, billowing in the already buzzing air, one that made me proud, looking up as, with a large cone of flames of Skye roared to the skies, a few rock fragments falling from the roof, windows cracking, exploding in a million of tiny shards, raining down on us; some people covering their ears while other seamed to shrink down; and I stood right in the middle of it, my head full of their intertwined voices, eyes closed, savoring that ear-splitting noise, sensing the might, the sheer strength in their call.

When it was all over I took a quick glance around, everything and everyone went quiet, only the dragons remaining still for the most part while still adopting a rather… submissive pose it seemed; only Kyo and a handful of other seemed unaffected, smiling proudly or wearing hilarious faces of pure astonishment. Above me Skye let out a deep rumble, satisfaction slithering in my brain. I looked up, meeting his gaze matching his proud smile but… he didn't seem interested in me, instead looking straight at the emperor's dragon that, for a strange reason looked the other way. Am I dreaming or is he blushing? I enquired mentally; eyes squinted, catching the slight reddish hue on his cheeks. "I wonder what's making him so embarrassed?" I whispered to myself, looking for clues.

"I demand an explanation immediately!" shouted the emperor, his voice cracking like thunder in the now dead silent room "what is the cause of such endeavor?" Only silence came, no one daring to speak up. "I am waiting…" he growled, sitting back on his throne, showing his impatience. Finally a man stepped out of the crowd, stiff like a plank, his face a pale white, sweating heavily. He gulped down "Sire…" he mumbled, so nervous he had to try several times before forming understandable words. "In the name of all the people here I wish to present you our apologies; we didn't seek to angry you and we are terribly sorry for our… inappropriate behaviors but we… we have good reasons to act so." "What are they?" grumbled the emperor, more by policy than by real interest from the pissed-off look on his face. "We suspect he may be plotting against you… to overthrow you your majesty.”

"That's the biggest bunch of nonsense I have ever heard!" yelled someone, a person who had remained quite quiet and distant until now. I threw a quick glance over my shoulder, just in time to see Ulrick step forth. "As prince of the empire I cannot let this happen, I cannot tolerate to see my friend being insulted in such a way. Ace has always been devoted to the empire and a… close friend of mine…" the rest of his sentence lost itself in the distance, barely audible anymore. I tensed, the fire burning inside me reignited, burning brighter and harder, than ever, anger, like burning lava surging in my veins, my mind stuck on that lone word, repeating endlessly in my head, "friend", the simple thought of it angrier, my heart aching painfully, a wave of sorrow crashing down on me, crushing me down under it's sheer power, tears welling up in my eyes, blurring my vision. A… a friend… a freaking friend… is it all I am to him? It is how he sees me? Is it what I am in his eyes? Just a… friend…. Just thinking of that word made me want to throw up, a bitter taste invading my mouth, my throat tightening, my hands, balled into fists, shaking uncontrollably, my jaws squeezed shut so tight it hurt. No… no it couldn't be, it couldn't be true, after all this time together, after all the things he said to me, after all those shared and passionate kisses I couldn't be just a friend to him. I couldn't take it anymore; I couldn't bear that burden weighting my heart any longer, my mouth burning to spill it out, the words already coming out.

"A… friend…" I spat at the peak of anger "just… a… friend…" I let out, each word flowing out clear and intelligible, full of bitterness and rage. Ulrick froze, slowly turning toward me, visibly nervous, cut right in the middle of his speech, murmurs rising all around us, insignificant to me, the crowd observing us inexistent for me, only Ulrick mattered to me “is it what I am to you? Just a friend?" I growled, planting my eyes into his, watching him stagger back, gulping down heavily, avoiding my stare, guilt and regrets painted on his face. "Ace…" he stammered, his voice ^so low only I heard it. “After all… after all we've been through… after all the time we spent together…" I roared, everything I held back for all that cursed evening pouring out of my mouth, all the contained rage now flowing out to my own relief "after everything you said me, after all the kisses we shared… was it only a lie" my voice broke, tears trickling down my cheeks; behind me the people whispering but I didn't care, they could all melt away it wouldn't have made a difference to me. "Even after all the times where you repeated me you loved me, that nothing would break us apart… were all of these empty words for you?" he stayed quiet, mouth hanging open but no word came out. "For me… they meant a lot; I love you with all my heart, with all my soul, I'd set the entire world on fire to be with you, I'd cross the skies to be by your sides!" I roared, a few cry of surprises reaching my ears but I didn't hear them. "But it seems… I'm the only one who felt this way…" I sobbed, eyes dropping. "Ace…" he mumbled, his voice barely perceptible through the turmoil in my head "you know it's not true…" "You know… you once told me to ignore them, to not care about those who whispered behind my back, to not listen to what they said, to let them believe what they wanted and to be myself; you were god damn right." I let out, tears streaming down my face, my voice trembling with sadness. "I don't care what they say on me, they can think everything they want on me, they can accuse me of all the evil that cripples the world I don't care; I've grown used to it and now it barely affects me…" I sighed tiredly "but you Ulrick!" I shouted, pointing a finger at him, our gazes crossing once again, his eyes full of regrets, his expression turning grimmer with each second we stared at each other. "Your words hurt more than everything they can call me, it hurts more than everything they could inflict me." I spat, the words like venom bursting from my mouth "I… I freaking told these leaches to stay away from you, I warned them to keep their distance with MY ULRICK and you heard it; you had to hear it as well unless you're deaf to me."

Next to me, the so called leaches protested, spitting their spite and venom at me but they mattered little to me at that precise moment, they could bark all they want it was like they didn't exist. "So tell me Ulrick… have I done all of this for nothing, was I such a fool to believe you felt something for me?"

"O-n-no- o-of course- Not” he sputtered, his voice a barely audible whisper. "So tell me at last; I can't bear this anymore so tell me, tell me in all honesty what am I to you?" I cried out in despair, tears uncontrollably cascading down my face, my vision so blurred by the salty veil I could barely make out anything beside vague shapes.

The silence fell, heavy and thick, an oppressing, suffocating quiet, the air tense, everyone holding their breath.

"Ace…" called a too familiar voice, a weak murmur so low it seemed unreal "y-you know I-I love you… but…- I-I mean… it's… it's not that simple" he spoke, his shaky voice full of held back regrets.

My legs gave way under me, despair kicking me off my feet, all my strength abandoning me as I fell to my hands and knees, sobbing heavily, tears pooling on the floor below me, sniggers, commands and hushes swirling around me, all of them making fun of me. Meanwhile Skye was trying his hardest to comfort me, but his assistance felt meaningless, he couldn't do anything to help me cope with the sheer sadness that overwhelmed me. My heart sank painfully, sorrow creeping over me, tearing me apart. I felt lonely, desperate, fooled. I looked up; he was still there, standing still a few feet away, looking at me intensely, eyes fixated on me, not flinching, his face showing no emotion. The world narrowed around us, reducing to only the two of us, face to face; the rest shrouded in darkness, swallowed by the shadows. I kept staring at him, waiting, hoping, wishing he'd come closer, hold me in his arms and cuddle me up, comfort me with that sweet voice of his. How bad I missed his embrace, the strength in him, the softness and warmth of his skin, the flavor of his mouth, the sensation of his lips… all of this felt so foreign to me. Yet, after a closer examination he didn't seem that distant, the impassible mask he wore crackling his lips twitching, hais eyes throwing quick glances everywhere, heavy globes of sweat slithering down his forehead, his whole body twitching and lurching forward, like he wanted to move but was stuck in place. I knew what was happening, the inner battle occurring inside him.

Ulrick

God Ace… why did you have to make it so hard? I thought to myself, feeling so bad, so sorry I just wanted to cry, cry out with him and speak out my love to him, ignore the world and be with him… but I couldn't, my bo4y so heavy, my body numb, unresponsive. I could only stay there and watch, paralyzed as he fell to the floor, tears pouring down his face, his handsome face…. It felt so wrong to just stand here aand stare, but what else could I do. I sensed the weight of all the gazes homed on me, waiting for a reaction, craving to see what I would do. His despair was heart-breaking, tears welling up in my own eyes, the dilemma in which I was stuck becoming even more frustrating. On one hand I wanted to close that gap, break through the wall between us and wipe all the tears from his face, hold him close and never let him go again. Yet sadly on the other hand I couldn't move, too afraid by what could happen if I stepped forth. I couldn’t risk it, what would happen of me if they discovered it? The rules were clear, strict; the prince had to have a lineage to guarantee the continuity of the empire. Yet I felt so bad for cowering like this, my only desire was to be close to him, screw all those stupid outdated rules and just show our love to each other, no matter what they thought. Yet I remained still. It felt like an entire world separated us, two different continents pulling apart from each other, my entire being yearning to take that simple step and be with him once again.

"Poor guy…" I mumbled, wiping a tear with the back of my hand, nudging myself closer to Kyle, Kyo's chest a mere inch from my head, his massive frame radiating a thick, musk-filled heat, his low rumbling breathe making his smooth scales vibrate, sending delightful shudders down my spine. "Yeah it sucks…" grumbled Kyle "why isn't he moving his damn ass? Why's he standing there like a dummy?" "He is trying to keep up appearances." sighed Tarken, shaking his snout in disbelief "what a shame." "You've got to be kidding me…" snapped Kyo, deep growls rising from his throat "he's really gonna let them dictate how he should behave." "Seems like so." confirmed Tarken reluctantly.

"Wish I could do somethiog to help." I mumbled, this picture embedded iy my mind reminding me painfully of the recent trouble we went through, my guts knotting, my heart thumping faster a and harder in my chest, my hand latching around Kyle's own, our fingers mingling together almost instinctively as he squeezed my hand tight in his.

I feel so alone… staring helplessly at him, silently begging him to do something, not just stand there but do something… or say something at least. Tears slowly faded away, the sorrow turning into anger, an unstoppable rage coursing through me with the same burning energy, relentlessly pounding at my head, sweeping the sadness of my mind, replacing it with pure anger. I craved for an answer, I needed it and I needed it now; I couldn't hold it in inside anymore, I had to know what his feeling truly were, no matter what he'd cost me.

I slowly rose to my feet, trembling, still sobbing heavily. I felt weak, powerless, but in the meantime I boiled with anger ready to explode. "I'm tired of all this…" I whispered, planting my eyes into his. "Ace…" he stammered, reaching out with a hand. "Stop… it's too late for that…" I let out, my voice breaking a bit more with each word, my whole frame trembling, my hands balling into fists as I stared at hily, oblivious to the world around us, ignoring the whispers and rumors spreading. "I'm tired of all this…" I repeated, swallowing my tears, rubbing my sore eyes "I fan't take it anymore." I growled "For the last time Ulrick tell me, tell me what Icam to you… and this time don't hold back." he was speechless, eyes bulging wide in fear, jaws dropping in shock, the hand he held falling limply against his side. "Answer me! I demand the truth! What am I to you? Just a friend… or something else? And don't you dare lie to me or elude the question this time you hear ke! Even if it will hurt say it! Spill it out!" I roared, keeping my gaze hoped on him.

"Oh boys… adman he got me chilling right there." I giggled, enjoying the sensation that coursed through me, a new kind of excitement creeping over me. "What the hall was that?" gasped Allen "you heard his voice? It sounded like… like… a… roar…" "Glad I'm not the one it was destined to." hushed Kyle, wiping his forehead. "How's that even… possible?" enquired Allen, turning to face me. "Like I said a dozen times at least there is more dragon to him than meets the eye." I chuckled, a broad grin plastered across my face "and quite the dominant type on top of that." Tarken nodded approvingly. "Hold on… are you telling me he's some sort of… alpha dragon?" "Seems like it." I admitted "but I'm curious to see how it goes."

"Such… power…" mumbled a voice next to me, trembling with obvious need. I froze, dread washing over me. Throwing a quick glance to my left I discovered Alckor, perfectly still, his newly-made blue eyes glowing brightly, pounding rhythmically, thick drool splattering on the floor below his parted maw, his breathe coming out in short ragged pants, his claws digging in the floor, his whole body quaking violently, arching and bucking eagerly, a potent musk floating around him. Worry took hold of me in an instant, was he really getting aroused from it? His lust-hazed eyes confirming that possibility. "Alckor…" I mumbled, worried he might loose it. "Dude stop that it's gross." hissed one of the twins, bumping him in the left flank.. Alckor staggered, shaking his head, looking like he just emerged from an horrible nightmare. "Sorry… I… I got… carried away for a second there." he apologized, avoiding my stare, looking down guiltily at his paws. "It's alright but get a hold of yourself you're creeping the hell out of me when you're doing that." sighed the one who bumped him, nuzzling him affectionately, dashing a quick lick across his neck. "It's just… they say to never piss off a dragon… now I understand why." he murmured, trying to smile. "You… you've felt something?" "He's overflowing with energy and… it's getting worse by the seconds… the prince really upset him… and now he is awaking to his true power… I can sense it in every fiber of my being. It's like… that little fragment of energy I absorbed is drown back to him." he mumbled, puzzled.

"Well then… let's see how it goes."

Ace

Long minutes went by, the silence deepening, becoming tenser, everyone holding their breath, the suspense unbearable, the time like freezing, suspended. My heart drummed into my chest, my whole body stiff like a rope ready to snap, heavy drops of sweat trickling down my forehead, my gaze stuck to him, ears perked to catch the slightest sound. Yet nothing came, not a whisper, not a sound to disturb that suffocating silence. I realized I was holding my breath too, my burning lungs aching for air yet I couldn't bring myself to do just that. With each paassing second my anger faltered, collapsing, dissolving into thin air, swallowed by utter despair. Was it truly about to happen? Could he truly do this to me? Would he dump me like a piece of useless garbage? I shook my head, wiping that idea aside.

"Ace…" he finally let out, dipping his head low. I kept my gaze on him, hopeful, shivering, barely able to contain myself. "You're truly the greatest person I've ever met." he whispered, my heart swelling hopefully, my cheeks flushed a warm red. He dashed forward, closing the gap, his strong loving arms wrapping me up; his hands, his soft hands pulling me forward. Before I knew it I was shuddering in his warm loving embrace, our bodies pressed together, his scent waffling at my nose, as I rested my head in the hallow of his neck, taking deep inhales in his alluring smell. My whole body trembled with happiness, a relieved smile growing on my lips as I closed my eyes, letting my hands wander around, clasping his flanks, determined to not let him go. His grip tightened around me, almost squishing me against him. "You're insane you know that." he chuckled. "I love you… I'd do anything if it meant staying with you forever." I whispered in reply, our eyes finally meeting, his full of unbound desire, mine blazing with pure love. He smiled, my legs wobbling. Gosh he was so cute… he always had me melting for him. I grinned back, as, inch by inch our faces clothed in on each other, inching closer almost imperceptibly, hot air tickling my skin. I couldn't hold it anymore, my whole body yearning for a taste of his mouth, arching with need. The next instant our lips joined, an electrical shock coursing through me, the flavor of his lips spreading in my mouth; making me realize how much I missed him. With eyes sealed shut I abandoned myself into the kiss, holding onto him with everything I had, his head tilting to the side, mine doing the same, his tongue poking at my lips. I let him in, shuddering as the kiss deepened, passion burning harder in my veins; his frame shaking in my grasp as much as mine did, his hands rubbing my back, mine rediscovering him like we hadn't felt each other in years.

The room shook, the ground rumbling, loud roars filling the air, voices of all pitches uniting in one mighty call that send thrill down my spine; heavy thumping mixing with their roaring voices; deflagrations rippling just over our heads, blasts of hot air washing over us.

Cracking an eye open I took a gander at the dragons, all of them without exception jumping, bucking and kicking; neck craned high; maw wide open, unveiling rows of deadly fangs, their deep growls and roars spilling out in the open; their wings flapping furiously, their thick tails and paws slamming in the ground as from their gaping maw burst colorful balls of energy, flying through the air before colliding right over the top of our heads, exploding in dazzling colorful flashes of light, millions of tiny shimmering particles falling down, swirling and flopping in the air before raining onto us. "Wow… we even have our own fireworks." mumbled Ulrick, astonished "you asked them to do that didn't you?" "No… I did nothing." "Well… I suppose it's a good sign." he shushed, our lips pressing together again for another wild kiss.

This time I kept my eyes open, throwing quick glances everywhere, the rest of the crowd still staring at us in utter shock and disbelief, everyone looking as if they had seen a ghost. All of them… well… not exactly, I spotted a few guards in the background overlooking the scene, smirking knowingly, one bumping his colleague in the side, waiting with an opened hand until the other reluctantly dropped a few coins, looking very annoyed. But… much closer, oddly enough a group stood out from the rest, they didn't seem as surprised the rest, acknowledging our relation with surprising understanding. Now that I think about it I haven't seen them before, they weren't amongst those leaches that pestered us all the evening.

A bright blue light illuminated the room, dazzlingly bright, just like before. "Skye» I gasped, spotting him, his body glowing brighter, his form disturbing, troubling, loosing it's features bit by bit. In a split second he vanished with a little plop, only leaving a bluish mist behind as, in his place the Skye I knew reappeared. "Hmpf…" protested Ulrick, pulling away. I couldn't hold an amused giggle as, sprawled on top of his head a small, blue, tired-looking dragon glanced at me happily, eyes sparkling with the same playfulness, although he looked a bit off, somewhat lost, flopping lazily on top of Ulrick's head. "Mind moving him?" he mumbled, not daring to ¤;ouch him. "Nah seems he like the place. I suppose your head is a great pillow." I giggled, patting Skye on the head. At that precise moment Skye's face lit up, his tail wagging widely, happy thrills spilling out of his maw. Laughter puffed out in all directions, everyone frantically laughing, some even applauding.

"Well it appears the choice has been made." shouted the emperor with a calm tone, his face darkened by a grim expression. Ulrick froze, tensing up; I held him closer, cold sweet falling down my spine. "Then it is time to celebrate as it should be." we both gasped in union, exchanging a puzzled look, squeezing each other tighter. "My dear musicians, I am sorry for all the interruptions you suffered but could you please start over; I'll make sure you're paid the double for all the trouble." enquired the emperor, the chief musician bowed down politely. "Why are you making such a surprised face my son?" threw the emperor, his face illuminated by a warm amused grin "do you really think I didn't know who your heart longed for?" "Well…I… I… thought… you'd… disapprove…" stammered Ulrick, at a loss for word. "Disapprove!" laughed the emperor, his dragon letting out a low chuckle "it seems you didn't catch my drift earlier." We frowned, staring at him, wondering if he hadn't just lost his mind. "I said you would choose and I quote myself your partner for life not your wife."

I felt my legs give way under me, my fingers clinging on Ulrick while he squeezed me tighter against his chest. We stared at each other in a mix of joy and disbelief, a wave of relief washing over us, carrying away the fear, the rage, the sadness, leaving me basking in utter delight. He grinned at me, slightly shivering, a glimmer of happiness in his eyes. Warmth flooded my whole being. I grinned back.

"Damn… can't believe he had this whole thing planned from the start." stammered Ulrick, his cheeks flushed a bright red "he gave us so many hints…" "Just… forget it…" I whispered, placing a finger on his lips, leaning against his shoulder and closing my eyes "it's behind us now, there is nothing to hold us back now." "You're right." he approved, visibly less nervous "and… what shall we do now?" "I think you know that answer." I giggled, caressing his lips with the tip of my finger. "Yes you're right…” he let out, leaning forward.

"And now my dear subjects, at last, my son has chosen and I askof all of you to respect his decision!" proclaimed the emperor "it is now time to celebrate their unions as it should be!" he roared, his loud voice enthralling me. Tee next instant music broke loose with a renewed vigor. Around us couples formed, taking each other by the hand, taking their dancing pose with such grace. "Is there something wrong?" enquired Ulrick, noticing the look of anxiety and terror on my face. "I-I-I've never… d-danced…" I squawked pitifully. "It's alright, I'll teach you." "I'm gonna look ridiculous." I whimpered. "No, just follow my lead." he hushed, grabbing my hand between his own, their warmth coursing through me.

We walked together to the center of the dance floor, all the eyes following us, making my apprehension even worse. We stopped, face to face, his reassuring smile helping me feel better, more confident. Slowly, with extreme caution he grabbed me, pulling me closer, guiding my hands in proper position, wild shudder coursing through me, mix of apprehension and excitement. "That's great, now… copy my moves." he shushed. I nodded, my face covered in a deep red blush my hands clutching him tight, as if he would disappear if I let go, warmth spreading inside me, the same scorching heat surging in my flesh, but unlike before it felt, better… somewhat natural, the wild inferno ragging inside me tamed. Slowly we began moving, the music filling my ears, the world around us disappearing, melting away like snow to the sun; reducing to only the to of us, to the warmth of his body, to the softness and dexterity of his hands as he took the lead. I felt good, for the first time since the beginning of the party I was happy,, and this time I knew nothing would come disturb that treasured feeling.

"Damn, did you see the look on their face?" I chirped, giggling madly. "How could I miss that." replied Tarken, trotting behind me. We took our distances with the dance floor, leaving the others to enjoy themselves. "Still, I'm happy for them." I let out. "Indedd- but… I can't stop thinking… would you ado the same for me?" asked Tarken. "Yes… I… felt it." I mumbled. "So… what's your answer?" "You already know it." I replied, nuzzling him affectionately "after all that we've been through I'm not letting you go anywhere." I cooed, nibbling at his horn, purring deeply, his tongue dashing swift licks across my neck, tickling my scales, making me quiver in bliss. "I love hearing you purr." he whispered, nestling his snout under my chin, our scales rubbing sensually "but I can't wait to hear you moan." "Oh you will be the one moaning." I growled "you little tease." "We'll see about that… for now why not go back to the dance?" suggested Tarken, grinding himself against me. "Later maybe." "Oh… you don't want to wiggle that sweet rump for me?" he whined, his tail sneaking under my own, the thick appendage prodding at my entrance, eliciting a moan from my maw. "Oh I'm gonna make you dance soon enough." I huffed, slapping his rump with my tail. He lurched forward, sprawling flat on the floor before me, offering me a perfect view of his hindquarter. "Oh my… you sure look quite eager." I chuckled, straddling him. "And they call me pervert lizard." grumbled Tarken, jumping back on his paws. "They forget to mention tease." I snorted, sitting a few feet away. "Come on Kyo it's fun." he sighed, sitting next to me, draping me in one of his wings. "Not when you are the one getting teased all the time." "Quit whining I know you love it." he grumbled, landing a paw on top of mine. "Not when you leave me hanging." "Oh come on… once we're out of here you'll get to spill all the seed you want." he purred in my ear.

A shiver ran down my spine, my slit puffin out, tingling with arousal. "You… freaking… tease…" I huffed, fighting back the growing urge. "And I haven’t even touched you yet.” he chuckled amusingly. "Oh I'm so gonna make you cry for that." I growled, arching my neck, hips bucking forward.

"Hey… you felt that?" he suddenly let out, pulling away. "Felt what? That you teased me again?" I growled, grimacing in pleasure. "No… that… tingle of magic in the air." he mumbled, ears parked, frowning, intrigued. Immediately my gaze went straight for Ace, finding him dancing with Ulrick. “They really make a great pair." I sighed, smirking at them, watching them move and spin, absorbed in one of those weird human dances. Yet a detail immediately caught my eye. "Are you seeing whq I see?" I whispered pouncing Tarken's neck. "Of course I do; how could I miss that."

I stared in awe as blue flames slithered their way out of Ace's suit, ravenous fiery tongues breaching their way out of the prison of that thick fabric in different places, reaching out desperately, lashing out at everything that came close. "What… what's going on?" Squeaked Tarken. "Well… I think he's still full of surprises…" I sniggered, grinning mischievously. "What do you mean?" "Well… guess there is even more dragon in him than even I expected… and it seems it wants to come out and play." I giggled, shudders of excitement running wild inside me, my brain imagining all sorts of things, coming up with so many possible scenarios my head ached. "There's no way I'm missing that." giggled Tarken, his eyes glinting with unbound curiosity. Grinning toothily I unfurled my wings, letting one fall across his back, sheltering him, the sensation of his large frame shivering in my grasp turning me on more than I would admit.

The flames kept spreading unaware to everyone except us, a gorgeous show of which we were the only spectator. The flames kept extending, burning brighter, blazing with a renewed might; forming two distinct lines along the back of his suit while another rounded spot grew in his pants. "At this rate he is gonna tear his clothes a apart." I chuckled. "And I bet you’re craving to see it." snickered Tarken, bumping me in the snout. "Oh shut up…" I let out, nipping at his lips. "Admit it Kyo you have a thing for humans." whispered Tarken, his face buried in my chest. "They're… intriguing creatures…" I stammered, a red blush creeping over my scales "full of surprises." "If you say so…" he sighed, giving my neck a long lick.

I was dreaming, floating on a sea of pure bliss; flying in endless skies of pure delight. A heaven for us to enjoy. I let him guide me, eyes closed; relaxed; resting my head on his shoulder as, with astonishing dexterity and skill we danced, everything dissolving in a sweet fluffy cloud on which we danced together, our bodies pressed together, sharing warmth and love, keeping a firm grip on each other, tied in a loving embrace. It couldn't be more perfect yet… it couldn't last.

Loud, high-pitched screams tore the silence, shouts of horror flying, the sound of tearing fabric mixing to the mayhem of people running away. "Holy shit…" yelped Ulrick, his grasp loosening on me. I opened my eyes, looking around in panic, watching as people ran away… but from what? "Ace…" called Ulrick, his voice full of fear and worry; his body shaking against me, squirming like he wanted to pull away from me. "What… what's wrong? What's happening?" I squeaked, petrified by fear, sensing a sudden surge of heat inside me, my body feeling weird all of a sudden, tingling with that same ragging energy as before, new strength pounding in my flesh, every inch of my body like melting under a surge of scorching heat. The most awkward was my back, it itched like hell yet it wasn't even the oddest part. I suddenly tensed, feeling something new, something that wasn’t there a minute ago, a new weight forcing me to shift my stance a bit. "What… what's going on?" I squawked, glancing over my shoulder, discovering in shock and dismay the cause of all the panic. There, sprouting from my back stood two large new appendages drenched in blue flames, glowing like two wildfires. "What… what's this?" I mumbled, ice cold sweet trickling down my forehead. Moreover it wasn't the only new thing that stood out, a third longer appendage had burst from my spine swaying widely behind me, curling and uncurling uncontrollably. "What the hell is that? I-is- that… a fringing tail?" I yelled, hesitant between fright and amazement "Where did I get that from?" I mumbled, taking a step back, the fiery appendage hieratically swishing around, cracking like a whip. "I… I don't know but… it's… kinda cool." gasped Ulrick, jumping aside to avoid the wagging tail, Skye, perched atop his head letting out high-pitched thrill, his own tail raised high in a show of amusement. "But… its not the only thing…" stammered Ulrick, pointing a finger at me, or rather at something behind me. "Yes… I… felt… that to." I mumbled, twisting my neck to see what else I had grown.

My eyes shot wide in disbelief, a gasp stuck in my throat as, before my very eyes two broad appendages extended from my back. "Are those… wings?" I mumbled in a barely audible squeak, feeling them unfurling to their full span, a powerful gust of wind washing over me as they reached their full span; bathed in the same ever-burning, blazing blue flames. Moreover, they felt… I don't know… natural to me, as if they had always been there; I felt like I could just flap them and soar into the sky. Curious I tried flapping them, to my own dismay they responded immediately. "Wow… hey easy with the wings!" yelped Ulrick still backing away. "Sorry…" I apologized, scratching the back of my head "I… I just… I mean… it's all so sudden…" I mumbled, risking a hand near the dncing flames, their warmth tickling at my skin. "Hey… it's alright" whispered Ulrick, reaching out with a hand, his palm softly caressing my face. I looked up, our eyes meeting, a chill of desire coursing through me "you know… you look really handsome with those wings… think you could fly us both to my room?" he whispered in my ear, my new wings fluttering just like Skye's own do when he is happy. "I guess that means yes…" he chuckled, inching closer to me, planting a loving kiss on my cheek, my face reddening with embarrassment. "You're incredible» I let out, hugging him with everything I had, squeezing him against my chest. He tensed, his frame stiffening in my embrace, trembling like a leaf "Holy shit…" he sputtered, his voice shaking with raw fear yet I remained deaf to his calls, squeezing him tight in my arms, head buried in his chest, embedded in a delightful warmth. "Hey… those flames bark more than they bite." he stammered, slifhtly more confident" I shuddered, sensing the soft contact of his hands cautiously probing around, ruffling my wings. It felt so odd !o say this but… in the meantime they felt so real, so natural, like they had always belonged there, that not having them would have been a real concern.

Cracking an eye open I took a gander at us, him, cringing a smile, slowly relaxing, letting himself go, fondling the incendiary wings like they were made of soft feathers while I held him close, hugging him with all I could; my tail coiled around us, keeping him close, my wings wrapping around him holding him as we cuddled. Slowly, imperceptibly we resumed dancing, entangled in each other's warm embrace, eyes closed, savoring the moment. "You know… I'm starting to like it." he hushed in my ear, our bodies moving in perfect sync, low purrs escaping my mouth as his hands roamed around my back. "It's nice…" I admitted "By the way sorry for the suit… I bet it must be ruined." "It's alright I've got a dozen like these.." he whispered in a comforting tone.

Meanwhile, on a large throne overlooking the scene

Emperor

"I hope you're happy now dear old friend" I let out, rubbing the massive snout resting on the floor next to me, puffing hot air from it's nostrils, a golden iris staring at me. "Indeed… I couldn't be happier." he snorted, his heavy tail repeatedly smacking the ground "and I know they're happy to." he added, throwing me a wide satisfied grin, the gold of his scales shimmering in the light. "You had a great idea to not interfere." I whispered. "But…?" he enquired, lifting his bulky head up "you don't seem convinced by your own words." "I just wish it could have gone another way." "What do you mean?" he mumbled, cocking his head to the side "aren't you pleased by the news?" "Don't give me wrong I am… still… I wish it could have happened more smoothly without them going through such turmoil." "I know… but sometime… changes call for difficult decision. Let's call it a… necessary evil."

I frowned "I don't like the sound of it." "Don't misunderstand my words I didn't say I liked it either but… perhaps… perhaps it was necessary for them to express their true love to each other and overcome the obstacles in their way. I do wish it had gone otherwise but… what matters is the outcome, and the results make me really hopeful for the future."

I nodded, acknowledging his words "you're right, with those two the empire will enter a new age." I approved. "But tell me… it seem I'm not the only one pleased with how it turned out." I giggled, rubbish my beard, throwing him a knowing look. "I don't see what you're talking about." he huffed, looking the other way, a low rumble leaving his throat, despite his appear ant calm I noticed his scales taking a slight pinkish hue. "Oh really? It's weird because I recall you looking very embarrassed." "You… you noticed?" he stammered, spinning around, almost ramming his snout in my chest. "It was quite hard to miss." I giggled, his cheeks turning a deeper shade of red, his lips twitching nervously "beside, I read your mind." "God damn it; I told you those thoughts were private!" he hissed, baring his fangs. "Don't worry, I didn't sneak into those 'forbidden parts of your mind; I just had to reach out." "Curses…" he snorted, avoiding my gaze "it's… it's embarrassing." "I'm impressed you know." "W-why?" he stammered, crouching low. "Because I didn't expect him to hit that soft spot of yours." "Hush you don't know what you're talking about." "It's not hard to understand." I retorted "you have a crush don't you?"

"Scream it louder they didn't hear you clear enough." he snarled angrily, his face a crimson red. "Don't be ashamed; it happens to everyone." I whispered, patting his head softly. "It's already embarrassing enough as it is." he hissed through clenched teeth, his head resting on his forepaws, a look of guilt and shame in his eyes. "Why? What's wrong?" I mumbled, taken aback by his reaction. "Do humans really believe our lust knows no boundaries?" he huffed angrily "I mean… sure… it's true we are pretty… open when it comes to our… mating habits… but even for us… this is gross. I can't be with him… he… he's just a child… it's… its wrong." he stammered, a red blush creeping over his face, his lips twitching in a grimace of disgust. "And still you feel something for him; am I right?"

He looked away, his embarrassment becoming more and more obvious. "I can’t deny it… its true… but… I… it's… not right. But… in the meantime… I feel so alone." he whimpered, his voice trembling with sorrow, tears welling up in his golden eyes "I've been alone for so long." "I know… I know." I shushed gently, rubbing his broad forehead, his scale shivering beneath my palm "but you've got an entire life ahead of you, there is no rush." "You think?" he snorted, not convinced. "I'm not sure he'd want me when he will grow up. I'm certain he would prefer someone his age instead of an old gruff like me." "It will be your job to show him your love and convince him." I added, my gaze wandering in the distance, falling on my son's back; snuggling with the one he chose, the small dragon wagging his tail and flapping his wings happily, tongue lolling out on the side of his parted maw, his eyes full of the same adorable playfulness; as if everything was a game, an adventure for him. "Think you can wait a few more years?" "I… I don't know if I can…" he let out, resting his head on his crossed forepaws, his long sinuous tail coiling around him.

At this precise moment a familiar face appeared, climbing the stairs leading

to me, the old wrinkly face warming my heart. "Ah my dear old frieand! What a delight to see you here!" I shouted, getting up, giving him a friendly hug "how is the life in the south going?" "The usual… you know… the wars and everything." "I know I know; I will send my greatest men to support you once the main issues are solved." "Thanks my emperor, I am very grateful." "Oh no, no emperor between us my friend." "I know but… it still feels weird to talk to you like b friend in public." "Don't mind them. Anyway, are you enjoying the party so far?" I asked, grinning widely. "Well… it's been a rather… eventful day I must say. I… wasn't expecting all of this to happen still… I am… pleased by… how it came out." he mumbled, squirming nervously.

"You say so yet you seem puzzled, tell me, is there something bothering you?" I enquired, landing a hand on his shoulder.

"Well… if there was only one thing…" he sighed, shaking his head. "I… I just can't get my mind over it. How could he… how could my son… my flesh and blood disgrace himself like this." "You are not to be blamed for that my friend, you did what you could." "Yet… I couldn't see how he fell to the bottom of that pit." "Don't over think it; he is old enough to make his own decisions and pay the price of his mistakes. I understand that you feel deceived, tricked but it's over now." I spoke as we walked around, oblivious to the rest of the world. We stopped, observing the crowd in perfect silence, lost in our own thoughts. "Aren't they adorable together?" I let out, nodding in the direction of a peculiar couple. "Indeed they are; some people would say they stole the show but you're right… they make a wonderful pair." he mumbled, hesitation peaking in his voice. "Yet you don’t seem to sincerely believe in that." "Well I… I am still… coping with all that occurred tonight. However I am sincerely grateful you let them be together. I didn't expect that from you but I am truly glad you allowed this. It breaks my heart to see Ace sad and my old guts tell me he wouldn't have stood o have his love ripped away from him so… I am relieved to see you are fine with it." "Why does everyone believes I am against gay relationships?" "You aren't?" he gasped, taking a step back, staring at me in astonishment. "Well… I might have had words against it in the past but it was only for public image.” “What do you mean?” he mumbled, raising a quizzical eyebrow. “You see my friend there was a time when I…” “You! No it’s impossible, not you my emperor! I… I mean… don’t give me wrong… I wasn’t expecting that.” He gasped, his face turning a pale white. “Why so surprised? I experimented a lot in my youth.” "So… you would accept their union?" "Most certainly. My greatest goal it to make my son happy; and I can see that now he is." I explained, a proud smile growing on my lips "beside… if I had held any grudge against homosexual people I would have gotten rid of those drama queens over there." I roared, glaring at another group.

Kyo

"You know it's very impolite to peer on other's conversation, even more when it is your emperor you're spying on." yelled the emperor, darting anger-filled eyes.

Crap… how did he notice? I asked myself, bowing my snout down, a pleading squeak spilling from my maw, my cheeks burning hot in guilt.

I looked away, my face flushed with embarrassment. "Damn… didn't see him coming…" stammered Tarken, our eyes meeting, his face plastered in a bright shade of red. "Drama queens… that's a fitting name for you…" sniggered Kyle. "It's… it’s… a bit… exagerated… we didn't cause that much trouble." I protested, laying low. "You want me to make the list for you." taunted Allen with a wide grin, yet I quickly noticed the pinkish hue creeping over his skin. "No… no thanks." I squealed, begging him to stay quiet. "You know I think when he said drama queens he included you two." chuckled Tarken, a mischievous smirk curling his lips. "You wish." snorted Kyle. "Nr… I think he is right." mumbled Allen, blushing hard, discreetly pointing at the emperor. "Remind me whose fault it is." grunted Kyle. "Hey! I didn't do anything." "Are you sure" hissed Tarken, baring his teeth at me "do you want me to remind you?" "No… please don't… I… I mean I didn't want any of this. I… I'm sorry for the mass I made." I sighed, avoiding their looks. "I just hope you learned your lesson this time Kyo." whispered Tarken, enveloping me in a soft warmth of his body.

Each second, each instant was pure bliss;, a bliss I wished would last forever. The music kept going but I wasn't sure I actually heard it or imagined it all by now yet I didn't care; I only wanted that magical moment, his smell, the softness of his skin, his breathe tickling my face, his hands holding me and the sensation of our bodies moving together, following the slow beat of the music to never stop, to last forever. "Is it me or are you purring." he whispered, his low loving tone making me shiver. "Maybe…" I murmured, nestling my head comfortably on his shoulder. "Daw that's so cute" he giggled, his agile hands fondling my back, eliciting more purrs from me.

"You know, I never imagined I'd get the chance to dance with you… nor to be cuddled like this." he let out, smiling amusingly. "Me neither." I whispered.

Slowly, imperfectly the music neared it's end, the last notes hovering in the air for a few more seconds before slipping away. We stopped, staring in each other's eyes, enamoured. Applauses rippled all around us, everyone acclaiming us, the sound of clapping hands like music to my ears; watching them all applause us make my heart leap in my chest.

"You know… I have to say it was the greatest dance I ever had." I let out, my heart pounding fast and hard in my chest. "And the first you mean." he added, tracing a finger across my lips "and it's the first time I have one with another handsome guy like you." "Hush you flatterer." I grunted, half-lidded eyes feeling heavy, so heavy. "But it's true, you're just so beautiful." "As much as you are." I retorted, still holding onto him. "I love you…" he let out, trembling from head to toe. "I love you to." I answered, that sensation of numbness spreading inside me, the world burying slightly as my lips burned to kiss him. We reached out, closing the small gasp between us, our lips almost touching, my legs wobbling, a wave of exhaustion kicking off my feet, the ground giving way below me.

I felt myself falling, my vision darkening, the world turning to a blur of shapes and color blending together.

"Ace…" called Ulrick, his voice so far away, so distant, echoing as if he was calling out from far away. "Ace!" he kept calling, his panicked voice growing further and further away; my eyes closing, the last bits of strength I had melting away.

Alckor

"Jeeze I never imagined going to that party would be so fun!" chirred Skel, looking excited like a little kid. "Yeah it's quite the blast." admitted Tormis, more self-restrained. "Glad to hear that." I gasped, sitting on my haunches, panting hard, heavy globes of sweat dripping from my face. "You two are restless." "We've been waiting all day to go out and have some fun." chirped Skel, spinning around, his eyes wide open, pupils dilated in raw ecstasy. "What… Aare we too much for you?" taunted Tormis. "In your dreams… I'm just catching my breath." I mumbled. I had to say I loved being here with them, it felt so good to be out, together and just enjoy ourselves, without fear, without holding back, just be ourselves for once. Even Darkan, of which I had lost sight a while ago, seemed to have enjoyed the party, after ridding himself of his first inhibitions he proved to be the charming fellow, a fun little guy overflowing with energy. I finally spotted him, sprawled on a table, maw gaping open, tongue hanging out, his foggy eyes staring at the ceiling. I smiled, noticing the many topped-over bowls around him. "Guess he lost that drinking contest after all." sniggered Skel. "It was foolish of him to think he could compete with those grown ups. “Hope he has something for the hangover." confirmed Tormis with a wicked grin. I couldn't help but let out a small laughter.

"Someone call a doctor!" screamed someone, all the attention diverting to the source of that shout; my ears perking up, my guts twisting violently, a tide of fear coursing through me. "Well… looks like the doctor is drunk." snorted Tormis. Before his sentence was over I sprang to my paw, rushing through the crowd, my small size allowing me to slip through rather easily, not, giving a damn about the people complaining in my wake; my heart racing, my mind cleared of all thought except one.

I breached through the last rows of people I burst into the open, panting hard. There, in the middle of a large circle stood two people I recognized in the blink of an eye. My blood felt like ice was flowing in my veins as a wave of dread washed over me, panic creeping over me as I rushed forward, skidding on that cursed slick floor. "What happened?" I gasped, out of breathe, quickly analyzing the situation. The prince remained quiet, staring at me with pleading eyes, his face pale like a tombstone, tears streaming down his face. In his harms he held the limp body of Ace, traits relaxed, eyes closed, a ghostly smile floating on his face. I tensed, stiffening a gasp, fending off the rising fear. "What happened?" I repeated, calmer, my voice not trembling this time. "I… I don't know…" whimpered the prince, paralyzed, squeezing the inert corps against his chest. "We… we were about so… you see…" he whined, blushing slightly. I rolled my eyes in acknowledgment "and then?" "Well… he… he just fell down." he lout, desperate. I observed Ace closely, no sign of injury, he looked so peaceful. From tee corner of my eye I noticed Skye lying splayed across the floor, all paws dangling in the air, in a similar state. Frowning I came back to Ace, closing my eyes, trying to calm the ragged drumming of my heart.

"There you are!" shouted a voice behind me "dude you shouldn't run of like… oh… err… nevermind." stammered Skel, his claws clicking on the floor as he padded away on unsure paws, quickly followed by Tormis. Huffing I tried to regain mz focus, eyes screwed shut, breathing slow, trying my hardest to forget the unconscious man next to me, ignoring the voices shushing in the distance, their words of doubt and questioning reaching my ears, disturbing me in my work. Finally, after a long minute I cracked my eyes open, the world looking nothing like before, everything, people turned to pile of glowing colorful lights, long rivers slithering across the floor, coursing along the walls. I shivered, watching all that energy flow always tingled my whole being in just the right way. So much energy… so close I could just reach out and…. "No…" I hissed, biting down on my tongue, sparkles of plain bursting in my mouth. Not that… crave again… I thought to myself, saliva flooding my maw, dripping along my chin, every cell of my body yearning for that sweet energy. I shook my head, eyes screwed shut, struggling to keep control; and all the whispering around me didn't help at all, those d humans hushing, but not low enough to not be heard. "What is he doing?" "Look at him; he's drooling." "Looks like he wane bite." “What devilish creature is this?”

"Shut… up…" I kept telling myself, trying my hardest to ignore them.

"Out of my way!" roared a deep, familiar, too familiar voice roaring. My ayes snapped open, my mind cleansed of that urge, all my muscles tensing, paralyzing me, my maw parting on a silent gasp, every fiber of my being feeling the sheer might in that roar. Trembling I watched the crowd pulling apart, making room for a group of dragons and human, Kyo in the leading position, looking somewhere between pissed off and worried. "Such… power…" whispered Skel in our bond "I felt that; all my body wants to bend over… I… I can't fight it." "I have never seen a dragon with such influence…" mumbled Tormis "but… it freaks me out… no dragon should be able to dominate us so easily… at all in fact." he stammered, panic seeping in his line of thought. "Yes… it's weird… no dragon should be able to affect us…" aproveSkel, his voice trembling. "Damn it Skel hide that!" roared Tormis, snarling in annoyance "it's not time to grow a hard-on!" "Quiet, you're not better yourself." snapped Skel. "Wait what? Crap…"

I gasped, my tail culling inward, pressing against my slit, the tip of my cock already poking out of my moistening slit. Why am I getting hard all of a sudden? I asked myself, trying to stay calm and not succumb to panic, my growing member pushing against my curled-up tail, begging to come out as I stared at Kyo, incapable of looking somewhere else, eyes wide in shock, jaws dropping in disbelief. He was, overflowing with power, something I had never seen, as if raw energy poured out of him, that same intertwined energy so odd, so… peculiar I couldn't miss it; pounding with raw untamed might; as if an endless fire ragged around him; consuming him.

………

Kyo

"And you say you don't like using that power." huffed Tarken, the crowd forming an alley for us, all eyes riveted to us, or rather to me; my cheeks burning hard with embarrassment; even Kaos stared at me, frowning. "For a guy that acts submissive all the time you sure love to be dominant." he commented, a satisfied grin drawn across his invisible lips. "Quiet you guys… I… I feel bad every time I use it but… I can't deny it's really handy." I sighed, keeping my head low, stepping forward. “Whatever” let out Tarken, following me.

"What's going on here?" I grumbled, gazing at the shaken prince. "I… I… I don't… know…" he squeaked, teaars flowing down his cheeks; his eyes filled with heart-breaking despair, a silent plea for help. "Tell me…" I whispered in a softer tone, crouching low next to him. "We… we were… dancing and…… and then… we… were about to… kiss… and… I… I don't know… he just… fell in my arms…." he cried out, clutching Ace in his arms, burying his face in his neck.

"Alckor; what do you see?" I enquired. "He… he… is… drained… completely drained." "What's that supposed to mean?" snarled Ulrick, glaring suspiciously at the smaller drake. "Do you have something to do with this?" "What? No… I… I haven't done anything." squawked Alckor, backing away in shock "I… I mean… he's… he's just… out of energy… I… I haven't done anything to him I swear!" "But… how…" mumbled Ulrick. "It's simple, he has been spilling great amounts of energy; both of them actually." I whispered, nodding at Skye, looking utterly exhausted, sprawled across the tile "but don't worry though, they're not in danger; they are just exhausted, they only need to rest and I can assure you they will be good as new tomorrow." I exclaimed, the prince's face lighting up with hope. "You… you're sure?" "I'm certain of it."

"In that case." said another voice, the emperor himself popping in the corner of my vision. He clapped his hands, servants immediately rushing through the crowd, carrying what looked like a bed. With extreme caution they grabbed Ace and slowly lying him down on the comfy looking surface, another putting Skye atop the sleeping human's chest; the little dragon mumbling in his sleep as he curled in a tight ball. I observed the whole scene, a sly smile across the face, noticing the long rips in the back of Ace's clothes, the half torn and burned fabric bearing the marks of where those wings used to stand proudly.

He cracked an eye open, murring and shifting around a bit as servants lifted the bed, his gaze foggy with sleepiness. "Told you there was more dragon into you than just your eyes:" I shushed, before the servants left the room, the prince following in their wake; the room recovering it's calm and quiet atmosphere.

"Well then; I suppose it is also time for us to leave" let out Tarken "we have a great journey ahead of us tomorrow." We all nodded, not yet feeling exhausted but a bit tingly below the tail… or at least in my case, Tarken's ravenous gaze stuck to my scales making me shudder involuntarily. "Thank a lot sire for your invitation" we all spoke in union, bowing our heads down respectfully.

The emperor only nodded, silently acknowledging our words.

Turning around we left the room, padding away in the large corridor.

"Damn… that was an eventful evening." Let out Allen, once out of ear reach. "You bet it was…" I sighed, rubbing my head against Tarken's flank, purring deeply "but the night is far from over…" I cooed. "Why do I know you would say that." grumbled Allen. "Come on… don't tell me you're not up for some fun?" "Did someone mention some fun?" chirped a trio of curious drakes, trotting right behind me. "Guess horniness is a family thing" snorted Kyle. "Sure" I replied, ignoring the two "why don't you come in our room?" "Sound nice." approved the giggling trio.

"Horny lizards… can't you at least wait until we're in the room before starting."
