Prophecy and Past

(Junior's POV)

Dark, silent and blurry. A sense of dread and foreboding filled the nonexistent air I breathed. Everywhere I looked was filled with darkness. Yup felt like another nightmare.

My body felt weightless as if I wasn't a real entity, just a hollow shell. Of course, that's how any dream would've felt, but since last time I couldn't hope for anything good. It wasn't until a loud howl pierced my ears that I began to realize what was ahead of me.

A huge wolf head, similar to my amulet, appeared in front of me. Its fur was as white as snow. Eyes as red as blood and the tips of its ears blue. It looked down at me and growled murderously. A shiver bolted down my spine.

"So... you're the new holder of the amulet? How pathetic. A child who bares the wolf blood mustn't be a weak pup! Furthermore, said pup shouldn't be a tail raiser!" The deep voiced alpha wolf snarled at me. I flinched, not knowing who or what this thing was. Nonetheless, I balled my paws and glared back at it.

"I-I don't know who y-you are, b-but you don't have the right to j-judge me!" My confidence grew slightly. I thought I was able to stand up to... whatever that thing was.

"YES I DO DOG!" And there went my confidence. His voice boomed through the inside of my mind. My head instantly began pounding. It was very painful as his words kept ringing over and over in my mind. Nails to the head would've hurt less.

"NOW YOU SILENCE THAT TONGUE OF YOURS MUTT!" He continued to yell at me. Staying silent, as he commanded, my gaze went away from the wolf only ending up with him growling and appearing where I was facing.

"YOU WON'T GET RID OF ME BY SIMPLY LOOKING AWAY PUP! NOW LISTEN," He growled then, mysteriously, disappeared. He reappeared 3 feet away from me exactly a second later. This time, he wasn't just a creepy, floating head, but a hybrid like me. Mystery mutt was wearing a blue jacket accompanied by red gloves. His pants were a strange mixture of cyan and orange. They were slightly scratched up, but I didn't dare ask why. What I found odd was he didn't wear any shoes so his white feet exposed. I must've been looking at him too long because his bark snapped me back to reality.

"Hey! Stop being distracted pup!" His new voice was as deep, so I didn't cringe.

"Now," The newly transformed hybrid crossed his arms. "Tell me, how did you get my amulet? Obviously you didn't steal it because... well, you seem to be a bitch."

"Hey!"

"Oh shut up and just answer my question." He snarled. I didn't even feel like telling him anything, but knew if I didn't I wouldn't be able to get the wolf to leave me alone. Sighing, I began to speak.

"In Lumiose city, this.. pink cat Pokemon thing gave me it.. she spoke in my mind, guiding me toward her. I still don't even understand why I was almost killed by assassins for this damn thing!" I exclaimed. I didn't understand why, but the other wolf smirked. A laugh quickly followed it and echoed throughout my mind. I wished he wouldn't be so loud.

"She gave YOU the amulet... by choice? What was she thinking? Obviously, you aren't the one the prophecy was talking about!" His unconvinced remark spiked my interest. What prophecy...? And how is he connected to the pink cat thing? I thought curiously. It took me half a second to realize my words echoed in my mind. The white furred lupine sighed with annoyance.

"We're in the subconscious kid.. you can't think here without it being echoed throughout the whole area. And to answer your questions.." He stopped himself with a smirk. A slow wave of his paw and random misshapen letters appeared behind him. Each were black but two or three were blue and had one eye. All of them resembled a letter besides a few. Blue aura resembling electricity surrounded them. The scrambled letters insanely ran around each other, making a weird word wall until finally setting into place. Barrage of creepy bloodcurdling whispers echoed into my ears. All of them were speaking a forgotten language.. but I understood them somehow.

"ARe yOu THe onE?" They all spoke in unison. Broken and mixed was a good way to describe their voices. Like the other wolf's, their voices echoed in my mind, causing another headache. The whole conversation would've been easier to comprehend if we weren't inside my mind scape.

"I don't even know what the hell you're talking about! I don't know who you mean by the one!" I shouted to nobody in particular. The wolf smirked and pointed above him. Reluctantly, I glanced up and my ears twitched in curiosity. The weird Pokemon (were these letter things Pokemon?) had made a phrase, or rather, a word wall.

A human that possesses the blood of the beast,

Hails from the world to be ceased.

I stared the words for who knows how long. My mind was in disbelief. I didn't know the reason those things were telling me that, but a chill went down my spine as the wolf recited it.

"A human that possesses the blood of the beast. Hails from the world to be ceased." He repeated. The way he said it made it creepier.

"Wh-What's this about? It doesn't involve me... d-does it?" I hoped not. I understood the 'blood of the beast' part, but that next line baffled and surprised me. A glance of confusion must've been plastered on my face because the white wolf sighed from annoyance.

"You are stupid aren't you? Of course this is about you! Who else would be half wolf and half human?!" He stated. "Plus, if this wasn't about you, why'd I bring you into your own subconscious and have the Unown make a prophecy only for you to not be the one? Think before speaking pup." He crossed his arms and glared at me. The longer I stared at the words the more they didn't make sense. Was it possible that there was more to that so called prophecy? I thought curiously.

"Yes there is Junior." The other wolf said, breaking my train of thought.

"Y-You know my name?"

"Of course! Why wouldn't I know the name of the prophecy's chosen one?" He glanced up at the Unown word wall and glared back at me.

"Sooner or later, you'll find the rest of the prophecy. Hopefully you won't wimp out on your chosen future, pup. In all honesty, I don't even know who you'll put your loyalty to.." That worried me. The prophecy the Unown created never said anything about loyalty but, before I can ask anything, a familiar voice began to echo.

"Junior! Hey, wake up already!" It was Blaziken's voice! I must've been out cold for awhile if he was trying to wake me up. Suddenly, the area around me began to change. The darkness began to fade away and a light in the distance formed. My body began to shimmer as the light got bigger and closer. I glanced at the other wolf only to see him smirk before everything disappeared.

(Blaziken's POV)

After shaking Junior's body for a good 30 minutes, I was pretty sure he was knocked out. Probably by fatigue from giving everybody else on the team a bath, but I wasn't sure. Whatever the reason, his fur felt wet and clumpy so Lucario or that damned badger probably pulled him into the tub. I silently laughed at the thought of the dog getting angry with Typhlosion.

I continued trying to shake the wolf up before I tried to call his name.

"Junior! Hey, wake up already!" I said in a hushed tone. Weirdly enough, he actually started to stir from his deep sleep. Groans from exhaustion emitted from him. My first instinct was to keep saying his name.

"Hey! Junior! Wake the fuck up!" I tried my best not to yell so the others wouldn't awaken and I'd rather not have them ruin a secret training session. The dog continued to groan in his sleep. He muttered dream nonsense so I didn't give whatever he was saying a second thought.

"Come on! Wake the fuck up already!" The dog still hasn't awaken. It was really testing my patience. I was about to go back to sleep but I wanted to wake the damn mutt up. Sighing slowly reduced my anger. Guess my sigh was louder than my words since Junior's eyes creepily opened. I wasn't scared or surprised, that's something the others would've done.

"Finally," I boldly began, crossing my arms. "You had a great nap sleeping beauty?" The lupine immediately blushed from embarrassment. So fucking feminine.. I thought bitterly. Of course, I liked making fun of him because of it, but if I took it too far, he'd stuff me in the ball. Happened once before and I didn't want it to happen again.

"H-Hi to you too.. wh-where's Typhlosion?" His ears fell flat the moment he realized his best friend wasn't nearby. A slight whimper followed.

Rolling my eyes, I gave the wolf boy my reply. "Probably sleeping... and stop whimpering! What are you, a pup?" My inquiry came off a bit annoyed but I didn't care. It was somewhat revenge for making the 'cleaning wound' scene awkward, especially due to the surprise hug.

Junior whimpered even more, but more from fear. He really was a bitch at times, but that didn't stop him from getting my respect (at times).

"H-How'd I get h-here?"

"What do you mean Junior?"

"I was... uh," The lupine blushed crimson. "I-I can't remember." He was lying. Whenever he did, his canine ears twitched rapidly. An angered sigh escaped me.

"I know you're lying. You remember, but I'm not even gonna ask what it was.. by the way," I looked over toward the door then back at my silver furred trainer. "Wanna spar? We haven't done that in awhile." Junior's ears fell to his skull. He was afraid I'd accidentally hurt him during our spar matches. It happened frequently in Johto. The others would attempt to convince the kid not to join my sparring requests, but being the kind and wholehearted human wolf hybrid he was, he never denied even if he was hurting.

The young wolf glanced at me before whimpering his response. "B-But.. isn't your leg healing? I don't think-"

"Trust me, I can handle the pain it might give me. Come on! It'll be fun!" I wasn't going to take no for an answer. Injury or not we were going to spar whether he likes it or not.

"S-Sure... try not to h-hurt me th-this time?" I wanted to say that I won't but sparring wasn't exactly safe. Nonetheless, I smiled and waited by the door as the hybrid grabbed his bag.

...

"You've gotten better!" I complimented as Junior blocked my attack. Sure he grit his teeth from the slight burn, but he was getting tougher to hit. Surprisingly, he also managed to land a few hits on me. But they were a mere tap compared to mine.

A somewhat threatening growl came out of the wolf's muzzle. He swung a punch, but I dodged it easily. That left an opening. I grabbed the trainer's arm, flung him above me and heard a loud thud as he hit the blue sparring mat. He groaned from pain.

"You OK? Nothing broken yet?" I inquired as I looked down at the pain-filled dog. He slowly got up, holding his side.

"I-I'm f-fine..." He stuttered. His voice was full of pain, but he still put a brave face on. Junior almost fell when he was standing, limping while continuing to hold his side.

"Junior...you should rest. You're obviously hurting.."

"B-But..."

"No buts, let's just sit and talk. I think I hurt you enough for the year." I sat down on the floor, Junior quickly followed. A soft thank you escaped him. I chuckled.

"Anything new for the amulet?" I asked curiously. Junior's ears perked. His gaze fell toward it and held it in his left paw. Eyes filled with anxiety and dread. Without speaking, he shook his head. I wasn't sure if he knew and didn't want to say it or if he actually didn't know. His ears didn't twitch at all so I wasn't sure.

"You sure? Seems like you're hiding something.. oh well." I nonchalantly said. The kid fidgeted in place before looking at me. Tilting my head, I glanced back.

"What?"

"Just... remembering when we first met.."

"Really? Of all the things to think of, you choose that?" I asked, surprised. In all honesty, I couldn't even recall most of our meeting. Only bits and pieces since it was over 9 years ago.

"Y-Yeah... why not? After all, you were kinda... sudden." The wolf said sheepishly. His ears twitched as I growled.

"What do you mean sudden?! How was I sudden?" I snapped at him. Junior flinched from my fast change in tone, but that didn't stop him from explaining.

"I-It's true! You just... appeared out of n-nowhere and asked to j-join my team! It was the definition of sudden! Remember? We were just walking, you appear from behind a tree and ask to join my team!" Junior exclaimed. That's when it returned to me. The reason why I joined, which wasn't as sudden in my perspective.

A shake from my head got the hybrid's attention. His ears perked slightly.

"That wasn't how it went... at least not all of it." I stated boldly.

(Combusken's POV {Past})

I never trusted humans. They never helped Pokemon, instead they just use and abuse us. All the humans I ran into wanted to catch me and stuff me into a cramped ball Poke-thing. I've seen what they do to us soon after, forcing us to fight against our will and against our own kind for that matter! Then they desert us when we couldn't win stupid tournaments or how they call it, Gym Battles. Enslavement was the correct word to describe human to Pokemon relations. That was how I always thought about the two legged, furless, cruel callous and idiotic species. Until one faithful day...

I was walking down a riverside, glancing around for any berry-bearing trees. Stomach growling louder than a snoring Snorlax. My orange eyes darted around, scanning every tree that was supposed to be in berry blooming season. Yet, none were blossoming with delicious life.

"Fuck," My not-as-deep voice cursed. "Why the hell aren't these trees in season yet? Actually, there aren't any berry flowers at bloom!" I stated to myself. Out of pure anger and hunger, I Fire Punched a nearby tree, sending the nesting Pidgey to scatter and fly away. A few insults were flung at me and I got enraged to the point of Flamethrowering them. I hit them obviously and stormed off as they shrieked.

I kept walking by the river for a good 30 minutes, hoping to find at least a scarce amount of food. To my luck, I found a bunch of Chesto berries scrambled among the floor underneath a tree. The leaves and grass around them seemed oddly colored but I didn't give a damn. I ran toward the berries and started to bite into them. The mild dryness plus the fact I hadn't eaten made it all the more delectable. I ate about 4 of the berries before I felt a sudden pain on my right arm. My body instantly became wobbly and fell forward, dropping the berry in my claws. A thud was heard alongside what sounded like rope. Almost instantaneously, I was entangled in thick brown rope and lifted into the air. I floated above the berry trap.

"Ha! Told ya random Mons would fall for it! The trap plus my paralyzing darts make any creature ripe for the selling!"

"Yeah, and of all things it's a Combusken! This thing will sale at a highly cost! Maybe to that guy who loves collecting rare and valuable Pokemon? Or that woman who uses them as work slaves? Damn, the choices this little fucker can go to get us cash!" The men pondered what to do with me while I suffered in a net above them. I couldn't even see them as my sight became blurry. That dart they shot must've been the reason I felt weak and couldn't see. I opened my beak to say something but nothing came out. The pain and humiliation silenced me.

In one swift movement, they cut me down, threw me into a steel cage and onto the back of a truck. They connected several chains onto my cramped jail to ensure I didn't escape. The sound of their truck's engine roaring signaled my loss of freedom. Probably to the two horrible humans they mentioned they'd sell me off to. That was my fate, to be sold as a weak, hardly fed, and shot Pokemon. The only noise I managed was a soft sigh as I accepted defeat.

"Psst! Hey, you!" A hushed voice called out to me. My eyes darted toward the sound only to see bushes shaking. Moments later, a kid around 13 walked out from them, a Quilava following close behind. His hair was silver with eyes as brown as chocolate. He wore a green shirt and green pants. Shoes and bag were a light blue color. A look of determination on his face.

"You hurt little buddy?" The silver haired boy asked sincerely. I didn't know if it was because I was desperate or because he wasn't those men, but I felt glad to see a human. But being the stubborn Pokemon I was, I shot a Flamethrower through the iron bars at the kid. He held back a yelp, jumping to the side.

"Hey! Don't you do that to my trainer you jerk! I'll burn you to a fucking crisp if you even touch him!" The Quilava's threatening statement didn't frighten me. Instead, I snapped one back at him.

"Oh shut up you oblivious weasel! You don't even realize that that kid will betray you when you get weak! All humans are the fucking same!"

"Oh really?" The boy inquired. My glance immediately went to him. Mind confused and intrigued at the same time.

"Y-You can understand me? H-How?!" I shouted. The boy quickly shushed me.

"You idiot! Do you want those bozos to know we're trying to save you?" He whispered angrily. I quickly stopped being stubborn. Staring at the kid, he got that I was going to be quiet.

"OK, we can do this. Quilava?"

"Yes Master?"

"Don't call me that, now can you use Flamethrower? I need you both to use it on... this middle iron bar. That way we can easily break off the rest." The weasel and I nodded and aimed at the middle bar. In unison, we shot our best Flamethrowers at it. The combined flames easily melted the first bar and weakened the other two. A glance at his teammate and both my rescuers nodded. Quilava jumped and kicked the remaining bars, snapping them in two. Luckily, the boy grabbed them and held back the yelp from a sudden burn. A high sizzling was heard as his hands burned. Gently dropping them so they don't emit a noise, the kid grabbed me and carried me into his arms.

"Come on! Let's get out of here!" He said to his Quilava. He returned his friend into a red and white ball then ran as fast as humanly possible.

...

"Who's this?" A small blue and black Pokemon asked. He was sitting beside a black fox who was sleeping on a blanket.

"Don't worry about it Riolu. I just need to heal this guy." Silver hair softly set me down on the blanket. I yelped when the dart touched the floor.

"Oops! I should remove that from you huh?"

"Yes you idiot! Hurts like fucking hell!" I shouted at the boy. Without warning he forcefully pulled the dart out of my right arm. Before I could even react, he placed his left hand over my beak, silencing my scream. The kid grabbed a cloth and wrapped it around my arm tight.

"You're lucky that dart didn't have anything permanent. You should be fine in about... oh I don't know, 5-6 hours? Or a day.. depending on how fast your small wound heals." His smile made me feel at peace. I didn't want to say it, but I was grateful for the boy's help. It was the first time I've seen a human be nice to any kind of Pokemon especially to me.

"So.. got anywhere to go Combusken? If you want, I can help find your trainer.. or home."

"No.. it's fine.. I can walk." I rubbed my hurt arm as I stared into the forest I was almost pokenapped in. I didn't want to return to it but I knew I had to. Getting up, I waved goodbye to the boy before walking away. I heard rustling and talking from them as they began to leave, so instead of returning to the forest, I followed them.

For 5 days, I hid behind trees, under cars, inside bushes, and hid on top of buildings so that I could keep close on their trail. During that, I've seen him helping his team and helping them whenever they needed it. I was awe struck at seeing a human always being nice to Pokemon.

On the 6th day, they were in a large new restaurant in Ecruteak City. Like the starving idiot I was, I poked my head up in the window and that caused a chain reaction of multiple human's reacting to seeing a Hoenn exclusive Pokemon in Johto. Hordes of Pokemon trainers surrounded me, each had a desire to enslave me. In fact I would've been caught there and then if the silver haired boy hadn't stepped in, blocking their devices from making any contact.

"A-Aren't you the Combusken we saved 6 days ago? What are you doing here?!" He acted like he didn't seem happy to know I wasn't caught by those poachers. Oddly, I was stubborn with him again, crossing my arms angrily.

"Oh so no hi? Or even a 'how's your day?' Geez, seems like someone doesn't care about my safety.." I huffed a puff of smoke at the boy. The weasel growled threateningly.

"Let's leave him. We don't have time for jerks. Right?" The Quilava stared up at his trainer, waiting a response. The silver haired boy glanced at the crowd around me. His glance went to me, a curious look on his face.

"Hi, how's your day? Now, why're you here?"

"Well... I was thinking..." I stared up at the boy, confidence filling my orange Combusken eyes. "Let me join your team."

"Wait, what?!" The kid and Pokemon exclaimed.

"You heard me human. I want to travel with you.. is that wrong? Or am I asking this all wrong?" I never willingly joined a team before so I wasn't sure how it worked. I never worked together with others easily, but I owed the kid my life.

"A-Are you sure? You really think you want to join?" Without answering, I walked toward the kid, tapped on one of his empty capture devices and instantly was absorbed into it. A loud click was heard as well as several groans of disappointment from all the other trainers.

At first I wasn't sure about trusting this kid, but after years of fighting side by side, chatting, eating and even sleeping with that kid I grew to trust him. His kindness was unlimited to the point of letting me stay out of my Pokeball. Similar to the others, I called him Master until he decided to have us only use his name. I still couldn't forget how strong a nostalgic feeling I get whenever I say Junior.

(Junior's POV)

"Wait, so your only motivation for joining.. was because I saved you?"

"Not really, but at first, yes. Then I began to actually care and ended up wanting to always protect you." He stated. A flush of red spread across my face. A wolf smile slowly emerged.

"Well I'm glad I saved you.. but shouldn't you also thank Typhlosion? He helped too."

"Never. I'd rather be pokenapped then give that badger my thanks!" He couldn't have made his point any clearer that he wasn't fond of my mate. From the first moment, they hated the other's guts. They never wanted to be around each other or battle alongside as a team. It always ended up in an argument so when we were at The Lake of Rage, I decided to keep them separated most of the time, but I couldn't stop trying to make them get along.

Blaziken's gaze went toward the door that lead into the room we were in. The windows around the door shone daylight so our sparring was at an end.

"Come on,"The dual type said to me. My ears perked up as he stood, offering his claw to me. "The others should wake up sooner or later and I bet they'll be worried about you not being asleep." He chuckled at the thought. I tried getting up, but couldn't even stand from his pain. Immediately, my body failed and I fell on one knee with a painful whimper.

"Still hurts! Blaziken, can you please help me?" I begged. I felt somewhat selfish since he was the one with the stabbed leg, but he caused my body to hurt. This was revenge.

Sighing, Blaziken turned to face me before lifting my body into both his arms. My blush deepened which was seen by my friend. He rolled his eyes.

"Oh stop. It's embarrassing enough that I have to carry my trainer.. you're LUCKY that I vowed to protect you. Otherwise I'd call that badger or the other canines to protect your tail." Blaziken stated bluntly. I knew that deep down he didn't mean it. He's been around for too long just so that he can say that. Plus, he smiled after saying it.

I yawned softly which sounded closer to a newly born pup's. The loss of sleep and sparring tired me out immensely. Blaziken chuckled as he carried me back to the room. We talked along the way, but only a bit. It was mostly just a few words, but it beat going back in silence. Once we made it back to the room Blaziken set me down on my two feet and escorted me to my bed. I limped my way onto it before getting in it and closing my eyes. I think Blaziken smirked at me before returning into his Pokeball, but I was too hurt to notice. I didn't care that it was sunrise, I needed my rest. Well, I thought. Maybe until Typhlosion wakes up.. then we'll head out to our next destination.

(????'s POV)

I watched as my target told his Pokemon to assist him to his sleeping chambers before making him go into his capture device. The kid smiled from his bossing around before closing his eyes. I growled at the sight through the window. My partner placed his claws on my shoulder, holding my instinct to attack the resting boy back.

"Not yet... we're not sure if he's chosen THAT path yet.."

"What if he did? He has the amulet AND he's already being hunted down! How has he NOT been corrupted yet?!"

"Cool it... we were given orders to observe and eliminate IF necessary. Unless he stray from his fate."

"Grrrr.. FINE! Watch when he kills those Pokemon and makes that Typhlosion his sex slave then you'll be sorry we hadn't erased him earlier!"

"Stop over exaggerating. He won't do that. Here's a reason why, he HASN'T killed a soul." I glanced at the Pokemon beside me and sighed.

"You better be right Sceptile..."
