So as a present to you, i decided to finally finish and upload chapter 3 and i was on such a roll that chapter 4 is already in the works and about halfway complete. Im gonna finish and upload it soon, i promise, like within a month for sure. So, again im sorry, but hopefully you enjoy this chapter and the next one and the one after that and... Well, you get it. Now, read... Go on... Read ^^
Chapter 3
Angel groggily awoke that morning. After a few seconds of waking up, she started to wonder why she was so tired. Then she remembered the previous night and started to blush. Then she realized what position she and Night were in and that they were still outside, causing her to blush even more. Night was still asleep leaning his head on hers, and she was still leaning her head on his shoulder. Both of them still sitting upright somehow.
She just sat there, enjoying the moment, letting Night sleep in. As she sat, she started thinking about last night with Night. She had really enjoyed being alone with him and close to him, and just being with him altogether. There was just something about him that made her feel happy and content. But she figured it was probably just a brother-sister thing.
After a while, Night woke up and slowly opened his eyes, and was greeted by a large, fluffy, light brown ear. He blew at it, knowing it was Angel, and saw it twitch wildly. They both giggled to this and Night then pulled his head up. He felt Angels head mimicking his action, as if it was trying to stay in contact with his own.
"Good morning Angel." He said, blushing slightly.
"Good morning Night, how was your sleep?" Angel asked, giggling a little at the end.
"It was great!" Night exclaimed. "Your the best pillow ever!" He said as his tail swished about happily.
"Thanks... So are you." She said looking up at him with a small blush.
"Th-thanks..." Night said, blushing and looking down at her, then quickly at his shuffling paws. They were still leaning on each other slightly as Night looked back up and into the forest. Suddenly Angel stood up and ran, leaving Night behind to fall.
"Hey!" Night said, trying his hardest not to fall over.
"You're it!" Angel yelled at him, while he was still trying to retain his footing.
"Cheater!" Night yelled back at her, after having successfully regained balance. He then shot off after her. She had quite a lead but he was gaining on her, until, that is, she went off into the forest. Night had a harder time catching up here, trying to avoid trees, rocks, fallen sticks and twigs and even a few fallen tree trunks, all while zigzagging through the forest. He had to pay attention to all those things and, of course, his main objective... Angel, who was having a much better time than Night.
She only needed to pay attention to obstacles, which, mind you, wasn't easy either but, she didn't need to also follow a target. And her slower speed meant she could be more nimble than Night, who was still stubbornly trying to run as fast as possible. When Angel made a tight u-turn around a tree, Night wasn't prepared. Still going too fast, he tried to make it anyway, which landed him a tree in the face.
"Ow!"
"You okay Night?" He heard in Angel say not too far away.
"Yeah I'm fine." He said after having shaken his head. "I gotta chase her out of the forest." He mumbled under his breath. 'Or maybe i could...'
Angel looked over her shoulder and waited for Night, she couldn't see him since a tree was in the way, but he had to come out from behind the tree at some point. After a small while of silence without seeing him however, she started wondering. "You sure you're okay? You're not chasing me anymore..." Angel yelled. She got no response. She was starting to get a little worried now, he normally doesn't give up on tagging that easily, he normally doesn't give up on anything... At all... But she expected him to be back and chasing her by 15 seconds ago.
"Night?!... Where arAAAH!..." But before she could finish, she got tackled out of nowhere from the left. After she and her "foe" rolled a couple feet, she ended up on her back, feeling the pressure of one paw on her chest and opened her eyes to see... Night?!
"Arceus! Night you scared the fur off of me!" Night leaned down until their heads were side by side. While Angel panted from shock.
"I'm sorry." He whispered into her ear. "You're it." He then leapt up and off of her into the direction he thought they came from.
"Cheater!" He heard behind him.
He let out a hearty laugh and looked behind him to see Angel had stood up and was just about ready to run after him. He looked in front of him and, more slowly this time, ran to the edge of the forest. He noticed that he was avoiding trees and such much easier now that he wasn't pushing himself to go as fast as he could and then some. Or maybe it was because he didn't have to also locate and follow his target, since he didn't have one. Either way, it was a bit easier now.
As he reached the edge of the forest and saw the small creek, he knew he was home free and stopped, just outside the forest. He looked back, expecting to see Angel running at him, only to see something else, something bigger, way bigger, running at him. It had a pointier snout than him, a shiny, semi silver, semi cream pelt and was about 4 times his height. As it came close, Night quickly ducked to the right, leaving the new Pokemon to run into the creek. It tried to stop and turn towards Night but it slipped on something and rolled sideways into the creek.
It rolled right through the creek but let out a harsh yelp as it made contact with the water. It rolled a couple more feet on the other side of the shallow creek and then stopped. Now that Night had a side view of the Pokemon, he saw that it had more than 1 tail, it had about 9 of them. It slowly stood up and, without even looking at Night, ran into the forest on the other side of the creek. Night kept looking in the direction it went, hoping that, whatever it was, didn't come back. After a little bit, he looked back at where it came from, and remembered Angel. She still hadn't come!
"Angel!" He yelled into the forest. But no response. He could feel in his gut that something was wrong, and dashed into the forest. "Angel!" He yelled again, but still nothing. As he ran deeper into the forest, he was getting more and more worried. He stopped and looked around him. "ANGEL!!!" He yelled at the top of his lungs... Still nothing...
He started to slowly walk forward, looking around him for something, anything that could tell him where Angel was. But he couldn't find anything with sight either. He stopped again and inhaled slowly but deeply through his nose... He could smell her! He quickly smelled around him, figuring out what way she went... Left.
He went left, following Angel's scent... Then right... It seemed to be getting stronger, he was getting closer... The scent went a shallow left, he looked up to some distant whimpering from in front of him... It sounded kinda like Angel, but why was she whimpering? He only had to think for a split second to start thinking bad thoughts, so instead of thinking, he ran into the direction he had heard the whimpering come from.
After jumping over a couple fallen branches and running through some bushes, he reached a small clearing and stopped. In the small clearing were the same Pokemon as the one that ran at him before, only 5 of them. They hadn't heard or seen him and were all surrounding something, which Night suspected was probably Angel.
"What do we do with it? Do we take it? Do we kill it? Do we eat it? There are so many things we could do..." One of them said.
"I have an idea, how about we do what we were told to do!" Another said, increasing his volume with every word, before promptly knocking the other on his head.
"Au! B-but... I'm so h-hungry..." The first responded, decreasing with volume on every word, almost whispering at the end.
"C'mon, let's get this over with." A third said.
"But, it's just a cub." Responded a fourth.
"It's not even a vulpix or a ninetales, why would he want it? Isn't it useless to him?" The second asked.
"He said he wants it, that's more than we need to know. Now hurry up and knock it out already before he starts wondering where we are." A fifth joined the conversation.
"On that topic, where's Flame?" The third one said.
"She was chasing the other eevee, she probably caught it and brought it back already. Now enough questions! Let's get on with it." The fifth said quickly and impatiently.
Night had moved around a little to find out who or what was in the middle of them, hoping it wasn't Angel, but knowing it probably was. As he slowly moved a little further, and was able to see what the bunch had surrounded, his heart sank. His worst fear had been realized.
Angel was bleeding from some bite wounds on her right side along with some bruises, her left rear leg was black and her breath was shallow. He stared at her, shocked, like a deer in headlights, he couldn't move, it was as if he were planted to the ground... He was afraid, very afraid. Not only because of the five Pokemon, that didn't seem to be friendly, and what they might do to him, but also afraid of what they had done and might still do to Angel. He could only imagine how terrified she must be.
But after a couple seconds something in him stopped him from being affected by that fear. He didn't know what it was but as anger and adrenaline began surging through his body, he didn't really care and slowly walked toward the group. Eyes lit with fury, teeth showing and mind set on annihilate. With every step he felt something rise within him, again it was something he didn't know, but he used it anyway.
In a split second he bolted for them, he closed his eyes and seemingly teleported into the side of one of the members and knocked him into another, making them both fall over. After he recovered from the unexpected boost and opened his eyes, he got a close up of Angel, and became even more enraged. He saw one of the three that remained standing charge for him, and he quickly leapt out of the way, but was too late for his tail. The charging member caught Night's tail with his maw and bit down on it before jerking it away and letting it go. Night was flew quite a distance before hitting the ground on his back and rolling sideways into a tree.
He stood up however, looked over at the group, and saw the one that had flung him walking over to him, also that the two that fell had stood up and one of the others were just about to pick Angel up with their maw. Night shot himself underneath the one that flung him and toward the one about to pick up Angel. Night hit him square on the side of his head, very effectively stopping him from picking up Angel.
He didn't stop after hitting the members head though, momentum kept him going a little bit further and when he landed, he was immediately struck in his left side and sent flying once more. This time however, it was allot further, and instead of rolling against a tree, his right side flew into a tree.
After hitting the tree, he fell 5 feet, landed on his left side, and felt dizzy for a moment. He shook his head, only to realize he had a massive headache and instantly stopped shaking his head. He also noticed that breathing was now painful, and as he tried to stand up he felt everything in his body protesting. Everything hurt...
But that didn't stop him... Not yet... Angel was still in danger. He slowly stood up, squinting and panting at the pain. He then looked up at the group of five, who were standing side by side all watching him struggle. Night could see amusement on their smug faces, as a moment of silence past over them.
"Hey cub, stop tryna be a hero, kay?" The middle one mockingly barked at him.
"Unless you wanna get hurt that is... I mean more hurt." The one to the right of the middle one said.
"I don't want to be a hero!" Night yelled at him, using the deepest voice he could muster to try and sound menacing, but failing.
"I JUST WANT ANGEL!!!"
He instantly ran at the middle one as fast as he could, using the trick he had learned earlier to go even faster than he thought possible. The group had figured that he was gonna go all in though, and all five of them used flamethrower simultaneously, aimed in front of the middle one. Despite his ridiculous speed, Night was hit by all of these, but kept going anyway, partly due to the fact that he couldn't stop even if he wanted to.
After coming out through the flames, Night jumped up into the middle one's chest as hard as he could. Causing him to expel a huge ball of fire before being sent flying. He flew over Angels prone form and flipped a couple times before landing on his face after which he toppled onto his back and side. He didn't get up after that.
Night wasn't fairing much better, he was tired, had taken quite a beating and on top of that he was now burnt almost entirely. He was having trouble just staying on his paws, barely able to stand. Still refusing to give up, he tried to walk and lifted his front right leg, which led to him falling on his right side. Indescribable pain followed, both physical and emotional. The only thing he could do was watch... And cry... As he couldn't protect Angel any longer, he was sure it was now inevitable that they take her...
'I'm sorry Angel...'
With tears in his eyes and ears against his head, he looked at Angel... She also had tears in her eyes and her ears were lowered too. There were wet marks underneath her eyes and on the ground but... She was smiling... It wasn't an evil, smug smile like the ones the five Pokemon were showing, it was more of a sad but content and understanding smile.
'Why are you smiling? I... There's nothing, good, or happy, about anything that happened just now... How can you be happy?' Was all he could think, he tried to say something but didn't have the energy, let alone the pain it would probably cause.
He just looked into her eyes, captivated by her brown irises, while slowly drifting away from the conscious world. Everything was slowly blurring and fading to black, he tried to fight it mentally, but to no avail. Everything kept fading until only Angel was left, but she too started fading, Night panicked and tried to stand up, but his body wasn't listening.
He saw Angels face and smile turn more and more into a worried and sad one as her ears lowered further and more tears seeped from her eyes. Slowly his eyes closed and vision faded, he could only see one of Angels eyes now and it didn't stop there either, it all faded away until...
'NIGHT!!! ANGEL!!!' Night's ears shot up as he was thrown back into consciousness after hearing what sounded like his father yell in his mind. He saw Angel's ears were stood up and she was staring into him with wide eyes.
'Dad?' He suddenly heard Angel say in his mind, now he started staring into Angel with wide eyes.
'What's happening?' He thought, but before he could think about it, an answer came.
'Don't worry about it Night, all that matters is that you and Angel are okay.' He heard his mother say in his head. Saying he was confused would be an understatement. He thought about what was happening and how, trying to come up with a conclusion, but before he was able to, he blacked out...
