Chapter 2
"Ouch!" Night said as he tackled a tree.
"Night, you have to follow through or youll get recoil damage" he heard Light say.
"Oh... Okay... Uhm, how do i do that?" Night asked.
"Just let your body go with the flow after you hit the tree" after a few seconds of thinking Night thought he figured out what his dad meant with all that.
"O-okay" he said, unsure. He then stepped back from the tree and ran at it to tackle it again, this time armed with his dads advice. He hit the tree and let his body do what it wanted. He felt considerably less pain this time and silently thanked his dad.
"Well done Night, now do that a couple more times and we're done for the day." Light said.
Night nodded, and tackled the tree 7 more times until he felt like he had perfected his tackle. He then looked to his mom, dad and Angel, who were sitting beside the entrance to the den watching him practice. Everyone had a smile on their face. "Nicely done Night" his dad said, the rest nodded.
"Thanks dad!" Night said with a large smile of pride on his face.
"Now you can teach Angel" his dad said, emphasizing the 'you'.
Night's expressions changed from happy to shocked and then back to happy, he'd love to. Angel looked at her dad with wide eyes, but then nervously walked up to Night.
"W-what do i d-do Night?" She had watched him perform but wasnt really paying attention on how he was doing it at the time.
"W-well, you just focus on t-tackling the tree and run at it, then l-look down and close y-your eyes." He was getting nervous too, but he didnt know why.
"Uhm... O-okay" she did as she was told, but before she could run at the tree, she was interrupted.
"Oh! W-wait!" She looked back at Night. "D-dont forget to l-let your body go with the f-flow after you hit, otherwise you might h-hurt yourself."
she thought about it for a second before saying; "O-okay... Th-thanks"
She focused once more on tackling the tree. When she felt she was ready, she started to run at it. About halfway there she looked down and closed her eyes. Mean while, Night's maw was falling to the floor. He had never really looked at her in detail, especially not when running since that meant they were playing tag and he had to focus on tagging her. But now that he did, he liked what he saw. There was just something about her, he couldnt put his paw on it but she was special in some way. While his mind was busy remembering what he had seen, he failed to pick up that she had veered a little to the left, not going straight for the tree anymore.
While his mind was still remembering Angel's looks, he suddenly heard a yell coming from her direction. He quickly shook those thoughts away and ran toward Angel. She was laying on her right side with her forepaws underneath her head, in the undergrowth about 7 feet behind the tree.
"Angel!... Are you alright?"... "I-I think so" she said as she stood up. He quickly checked her and saw that her right ear was bleeding and it had some dirt in the wound. "Wait, stay still" he said and then started to instinctively lick her wound. After a few seconds he realized what he was doing and quickly stopped and looked away to hide his heavy blush.
"I-Im sorry, it was j-just a..." He started but got interrupted.
"N-Night, c-could you k-keep doing that?" Night was shocked at first, but then continued licking her wound without another word. Both of them calmly enjoying it on the outside, but extremely nervous on the inside.
Unbeknownst to them, their parents had quickly rushed side by side to check on Angel as well, but stopped when they saw the cute scene unfold, and quietly walked back to the entrance of their den.
While walking, Cream asked; "Do you think they're...?"
"Probably" Light answered. "but, i dont know if they will..."
"Why not?" Cream asked.
"Well" Light started. "They're brother and sister"
"No they're not" she said quickly. After that there was half a minute of silence before Cream started talking. "We should tell him..."
"Not yet" Light answered back.

Night woke up to that familiar tug again, wanting him to go outside. He obliged and stood up. But when he did, he accidentally pushed Angel some. She had snuggled closer to him this night. While checking to make sure she was still asleep, he thought he saw her eyes being open and quickly closing. But after double checking, and being reasured that she was asleep, he carefully jumped over her and walked outside.
As Night went outside, he quickly looked left and right again to check for anything suspicious like that shadow he saw last time. He sighed as he saw nothing and walked out further. After walking a couple feet outside, he looked up into the night sky and was once again mesmerized by the moon. He just stared at it and thought about life, about his home, his family and then about Angel.
'Why did she curl up so close to me tonight? Why did i start licking her wound? Better yet, why did she want me to continue? And why do i keep thinking about her? I mean... I like her, i know i like her... Allot... But... There is something different about her... Something... Special... What is it?... I-I need to clear my head'
He started walking along the bank of the little creek, looking at the moons reflection in the miniature river. Listening to the quietly flowing water, and the soft sounds of the forest. It was exactly what he needed to get some peace of mind.
After a few minutes of mindlessly walking, his attention was drawn to a rustle behind him in the nearby bushes. He quickly turned around, got into a defensive stance, and growled as menacingly as he possibly could. Which wasnt very menacing since he was just a cub. After getting no response he waited, until another rustle caught his eye. He growled again and then lept for it. After tumbling a couple feet, he had it pinned and looked to see who or what it wasAfter seeing who it was he immediately got off.
"Oh, h-hi Angel... W-why are you here?" He was blushing but luckily it was hard to see in the dark.
"I-I woke up and saw you walk outside, then i followed you to see what you were doing so late at night."
'i knew i saw her eyes being open!' He thought. "O-oh, im sorry for waking you up"
"i-its okay" she said quickly.
"So... D-do you maybe wanna... W-walk with me?" Night asked.
"S-sure" they walked out of the bushes and onto the creek bank, and then just walked further following the creek together in silence.
Until Angel asked; "Why... What are you doing out here?..."
"J-just, walking and th-thinking." He said, blushing once more.
"About what?" He looked away.
"W-well, ya know... things." He said, wondering if she knew of his thoughts about her.
"what things?" She asked, walking closer to him.
"Y-ya know, life and such..." He answered, fearing she had read his mind.
She seemed to accept his answer and he sighed inwardly. They kept walking together in silence, letting the serene environment take their minds aloft. However, they suddenly stumbled upon a 4 foot rockface with a cave in it conveniently spanning the width of the creek and bank. The cave seemed to be illuminated from the inside somehow and you could hear the sound of a waterfall also coming from the inside.
'What's this?' Night wondered.
"What's this?" Angel asked as if having read his mind.
"I dont know." Angel moved closer to him again, their pelts touching, making him blush when she didnt pull away.
"Sh-should we go inside?" Angel suddenly asked.
"I-I dont know... Do we want to?" Night asked, looking at Angel. She slowly shook her head while moving even closer to him, pressing against him some.
"Th-then i g-guess not." He said nervously, now fully blushing. He thought his cheeks were gonna start glowing red.
They turned around, Angel still pressing against him, And walked back to the den. About two thirds into the trip, they both turned their heads to look at each other at the same time. Their noses touched for a second and they both quickly spun their head back while furiously blushing.
After about a minute of silence between them, Night could see that Angel was tired, and very nervously offered to carry her. But she declined, giggling and saying she'll make it without falling asleep. However, as they got back to the den, Night could see she was teetering over the edge of awake and asleep. And as he turned around and sat down to look at the moon one more time, she followed him, sat down and after 5 seconds, fell asleep leaning on him.
He enjoyed it and stayed like that for a while, not really watching the moon as much as watching Angel sleep against him. Eventually he too became tired and didnt feel like carrying himself and Angel into the den. If he was honest with himself though, he didnt want to disturb Angel either, but actually wanted to stay in the moment. So instead layed his head on hers and fell asleep with a broad contented smile across his muzzle.
