Entry 24
#24 of Diary of an Awkward Youth
Dear Diary, So, I haven't written in a while and boy do I have a good reason. So lets start with why I've been gone for so long: My family up and moved us out into the middle of nowhere! That's right, we're living in the country now for two reasons. The first being that my parents were both fired from their jobs. Their boss (they worked for the same guy by the way) apparently decided to investigate my father, thinking he was stealing money from the company and when the only thing the PI the company hired to monitor us brought back to him was a badly shot sex tape, he fired them both for sexual harassment! So, needless to say, my parents sued and now we have a beautiful new home, in the fucking middle of nowhere.
Don't get me wrong, I like the place, it's HUGE and we have a lot of land, which means we can do what we want with it, but I'm going to miss the city. Anyways, the second reason is because Aaron's folks were arrested! Yeah, crazy huh? I don't know if the charges will stick or whatnot, but apparently it was pretty serious, they had S.W.A.T. there when they took him in. Aaron was supposed to be put into a foster home, but my folks took him in, so now he's living with us out here in the middle of nowhere under two conditions. The first being that he help my folks around the house, the second being that he doesn't get into any trouble with the law.
Alright, so now that we've covered the why, lets talk about the where: My folks bought what was, once, an old ranch, so the house has 4 bedrooms, all of which are about the size of the master in our old house), half-bath in the hall (which is pretty much just a closet with a sink and toilet in it and a full bathroom connected to three of the four rooms! Two of the rooms share a bathroom with twin sinks a HUGE standing shower too. Aaron is in one of those rooms, Nicolas and I are in the other, so pretty much we all three share a bathroom. On top of that we have: A barn and stables, two large sets of pens for animals, 10 acres of gated field and another 90 acres of 'woodland' that belong to our family.. We own, just shy of 100 acres of land if you factor in everything and that doesn't include the quarter-mile long drive-way!! I'll say it again, I wont complain about the new house much, or the land because quite frankly? I like the idea that I could get lost in my own back yard for a few days..
Oh yeah, I should also note that yes, we have a drive-way, sort of.. It's a huge concrete strip about quarter a mile long and wide but it's not really meant for cars, since there are no actual roads that lead to our fucking house. The guy who sold us the place told my parents it was for a helicopter, which given where we are I can believe since, you know, no roads? There is a reason that my family, as simply and common as we are, were able to afford this beautiful chunk of land: It's in Alaska!! It's cold as fuck out here and THIS is the part I'm complaining about! We're a family of hyenas! In fucking Alaska! My parents have to be out of their fucking minds!!
