Entry 7
#7 of Diary of an Awkward Youth
Dear Diary,
Today has been an interesting day so far, but not for the time I got to spend alone. I decided to go on a little adventure today, see there's a long stretch of area near the creek that's pretty wild, well, as wild as it gets in a city that is. I like going there, it feels like my own little sanctuary there and I can be myself. See, I've always been fond of the idea of living out in the wild.. I know, my family always reminds me that our kind originally came from the deserts but I like the idea all the same. So I went and followed the creek for a while, had some fun climbing the trees or chasing squirrels, even took a chance to see if I could jump the creek, which ended in me soaking wet sadly.. almost made it though!
Well, while I was out there I met this boy named Aaron, he's an otter I think.. At least I hope he is, he's the first one I've met if so. Either way, he was doing the same thing as me, just hanging out and amusing himself when he saw me take my little leap of faith. I would never have known he was there if he hadn't bused up laughing at me when I came out of the creek looking like a drown rat. He did ask me if I was OK though, so that was nice of him and he didn't seem to mind when I stripped down to let my cloths dry on a branch.. I hate wearing wet cloths, it pulls at my fur too much.
While my cloths were drying, we sat and talked, mostly about our families or beliefs, even a little about video games too. He didn't seem to care that I was different, he didn't ask questions and he didn't stare, which was actually pretty refreshing. Turns out his family just moved into town and he's going to be going to the same school as me, which is pretty cool. I'll have a new friend to hang out with at lunch.
