The Simple Life, Chapter 1 : Fenris in The Mornings
#1 of The Simple Life
This story is moments in the lives of StellaLuna, Star and Fenris.
Hey there all, StellaLuna here! Just a reminder this is the first time I'm writing in this forum so be gentle please. The Simple Life is just the story of all the little things I've come to cherish, and I hope you as the reader will come to covet them as well. It may come across as sounding a bit one shot-y, but I promise if you're patient it will all come together in the end. Thank you for taking the time to read my tale. See you at the end!
I doubt it was the rain pitter-pattering on our bedroom window that woke me. It had been raining steadily all throughout the night, and as usual in such a situation, I slept like a baby. No, it wasn't the rain. I was silent for a moment, listening to the baby monitor. Nothing. Star was still fast asleep, he hadn't woken me. Perhaps maybe it was just my internal time clock. Or even a car passing by the apartment. Whatever it was that stirred me from my slumber, I didn't mind, for the vision I awoke to was the most precious thing in the world to me, and I was lucky enough to experience it every day.
I sat up in bed, the comforter and sheets pooling about my tiny, cross-legged form, and leaned back to stretch. Reaching behind my head, I arched my back slowly, resulting in a pleasing crack of my spine. I was careful slipping out from the nest of sheets and warmth, fearing I'd wake him. It only took me a moment to find the shirt he'd discarded on the floor the night before, and I shrugged it over my head on my way to the bathroom in an attempt to somewhat cover my indecency.
Leaning against the blonde wood door frame, toothbrush in mouth, I admired my love from afar.
Fenris, my mate for the previous 4 years, was a handsome deep smoke-grey colored dire wolf. Currently, he lay half covered by his favorite quilt, one large paw resting on his stomach and the other casually posed on the pillow next to his graceful sleeping face. His shirt had been tossed aside in the heat of passion the night before and it's absence was showing off his well muscled chest and smooth, toned stomach. I smiled at the memory of my lips pressed against the soft-yet-coarse fur of that same tummy the night before. His thick dark hair was strewn about wildly, causing a pleasant contrast to the soft blue of the pillowcase. The way his black nose scrunched up, indicating he was waking, made my heart skip a beat, for I am truly in love with him.
I watched as he tightened his closed eyes, his paw coming up from its resting place on his belly to scrub the sleepiness from his still closed deep brown eyes. He half rolled away from his resting place, hugging my pillow to his bare chest. A sigh of contentment floated up from him. I removed my toothbrush, laying it on the bathroom counter, and quietly padded over to my slowly waking lover, taking a seat on the edge of the mattress.
"Good morning sweetheart." I spoke in soft voice, placing my paw on his thigh.
"Mmm....g'mornin' baby....wha' time's it?"
I chuckled softly under my breath. He didn't realize how absolutely adorable he sounded first thing in the morning. His husky sleepy voice could easily make my heart melt.
"Don't worry precious," I leaned over, brushed a strand of hair from his face and kissed his forehead. "I don't have work for a few more hours."
He smiled at that, his paw coming up to rest carefully on my pale cheek.
"Cuddle with me until you have to go get ready?"
The thin rays of sunlight peeking out from behind the rain clouds illuminated his face, highlighting just how attractive he really was. Half-lidded chocolate colored eyes hidden behind thick black lashes, a thin pink scar cutting diagonal through the left one, and thin lips curved upward at the corners in a loving smile, his masculine face framed by curling tendrils of dark hair. How could I ever resist him?
"Of course. I'd love to. If Star allows for it that is." He grinned at the mention of our child.
"I think we have another hour or so before he becomes a problem."
I crawled into our queen sized bed, taking up my usual spot in front of him, my petite frame loosely curled into a fetal form, and he lay his arm in the curve of my tiny waist, where it fit like a puzzle piece. My back pressed itself against his chest in a reassuring way, my slender hips fitting into his almost perfectly in that way he always loved to comment on, saying that it proved just how meant for each other we truly are. He draped his thick tail over my thigh and entwined it with my own smaller, fluffier one, making me grin. Nuzzling his face against my messy black hair, I felt warm breath wash over my neck as he breathed in my calming scent and smiled, I felt it against me.
Fenris in the mornings is one thing I don't think I'll ever give up.
Well there it is, the first chapter in my story. I hope you all enjoy it. :) criticism is accepted.
