Chapter 16: 20 Minutes in Math Class

Sonic rose from his seat just as everyone else was. He had tried to keep his eye on Shadow, but in the crowd of students, he had lost sight of the black and red hedgehog.
Oh well. He had Edward and Pokeinfo to keep him company now. The three were chattering amongst themselves about the new opportunities that had presented themselves; mainly about the new shoe policy and what kind of shoes Ed and Poke would be wearing the next day.
"I really wish I could find shoes like yours," Edward was saying to Sonic. "I've never seen such a simple design, and yet they look so comfy."
"They are pretty comfy, actually. Great to run in... and they're the only shoes that can handle the intense friction I create when I'm running. Other shoes erupt into flames or wear out after the first run."
"That sucks," said Pokeinfo matter-of-factly. "Personally, though, I want a pair like your cousin-not-cousin Shadow. Those are cool looking."
"You could ask him," Sonic replied. "I think he makes his own, but I've never wanted a pair like his. Mine have never failed me."
The distance from the gymnasium to miss Carmen's class was shorter than Sonic expected. It wasn't long before the trio arrived at her classroom door, then went inside and took their seats.
Because of the sheer number of students in Sonic's class, his seat was obvious, as it was the only seat left available. He took the seat, in the middle of the class. It left him in an odd position, as to his left sat Naomi, to his right sat Sara, and directly behind him sat Delilah. He himself sat behind Jay.
The bell rang and the teacher entered the room. Like Shadow, Sonic too was surprised at how young Miss Carmen looked. She smiled at the class, waiting for everyone to calm down and get quiet, then cleared her throat and addressed them.
"We only have about 20 minutes left in class, so I decided on a small project we could do that wouldn't take up too much time. I've borrowed a large television from the library, and I've been told that someone had a copy of some kind of dance game and had left it in the library as well. It's supposed to be pretty fun."
Sonic could see where this was going. Dance game? Dance Dance Revolution, perhaps? Today's math class was going to be fun.
"The name of the game is Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2," Miss Carmen continued, and most of the class started clapping. The teacher waited for the class to calm down a second time, then spoke again. "Here's how it will go. I've acquired two dance pads. I will line you all up according to height, and you will each take turns, two at a time. The winner will face the next person, the loser will take their place at the end of the line."
Sonic was dancing inside already. There was just one problem; he was pretty much considered an expert at this game. He didn't feel it would be fair for him to play.
Raising his hand, he hoped to get Miss Carmen's attention before she lined them all up. The teacher looked up and saw his hand in the air, and pointed to him. "Ah yes... you must be Sonic. Do you have a question?"
Sonic shook his head. "More a request, ma'am. In the pursuit of fairness, I request that I sit this one out. I'm too good a player of this game to play against anyone else."
The teacher looked at him oddly. "Too good a player?"
Sonic would have answered if Pokeinfo hadn't opened his mouth first. "Sonic beat the In The Groove 2 challenge at the arcade the other day."
Miss Carmen blinked a couple times, then laughed. "Surely you jest. Still, if you feel that playing against anyone would be unfair, then you may sit this one out."
The teacher then proceeded to line up the rest of the class in accordance to height. By the time they were ready to go, there was only ten minutes left until the bell. But that was fine.
Sonic watched the dancers for ten minutes, admiring the choices of songs, and watching each player attempt to clumsily complete the song better than their opponent. He opened his desk and pulled out a piece of paper and a pencil, and made a note to himself to talk to the Principal about getting a real DDR machine in there.
The students themselves seemed, to Sonic, to be trying to impress him. And a couple of them were. The news of his topping the ITG2 challenge at the arcade would have been unbelievable if it hadn't been for his defeat of Lucy that morning.
To the students, and especially the girls, Sonic was the special kid you only get to see once or twice in your life. The guys all wanted to be his friend, the girls all wanted to be his girlfriend.
And all the girls wanted to fuck him.
As luck would have it, Naomi and Delilah would face off against each other about a third of the way through the line of students. Delilah was given the option to pick the song, so she went with Beat drop's "Until Forever," a synth heavy electronica song with multiple jumps and holds.
Delilah picked this particular song, thinking she had a chance to beat Naomi because of her panther qualities, and the fact that she was a bit bigger than Naomi was, and her legs had a longer reach. She wouldn't resort to cheating, such as pushing Naomi off her mat, but figured maybe her intimidating size would keep the smaller Siamese at least at bay and slightly frightened.
It didn't work. The smaller Naomi had a much better speed advantage, and because of the less muscle mass, she was able to move her legs faster and keep up with the notes. It was a close dance battle, but Naomi came out on top.
Reveling in her victory, Naomi prepared for the next challenger, while Delilah headed for the back of the class, where Sonic was sitting.
With Sara.
While the two felines were fighting, the little shy mouse had gone to the back of the class and sat herself on a desk next to Sonic. The two weren't saying much, but Sara seemed to be blushing quite a bit, leaving Delilah to wonder whether she had asked any embarrassing questions for Sonic to answer.
The truth was, Sara had asked Sonic a few questions, and Sonic had been more than happy to answer them for her. He then, in turn, asked her a single question, and because of her shy nature, she hadn't answered him yet.
So there she sat, still blushing, when a rather tired Delilah wandered to the back of the class, taking a seat on the other side of Sonic and snuggling with him, as was her habit when she overexerted herself. This caused a twinge of jealousy to surge in Sara, and she scootched closer to Sonic and snuggled him from the other side.
This left Sonic in the oddest predicament when Naomi lost, because the Siamese was also attracted to the blue blur. Naomi almost fainted with disappointment when she saw that both sides of Sonic were occupied already, and she was tired and needed someone to cuddle. This didn't stop her, though, as she crawled up to Sonic and proceeded to, very boldly, sit in his lap, rubbing against his chest and purring.
This caused Sonic to do a few things at once. One, he began blushing very, VERY hard. Two, he had to convince himself to stare at the other dancers, watching them so as to try to drive his blush away. Also connected with his concentration was three: he had a very sexy kitten sitting on his lap, a very sexy panther on his left side cuddling him, and a very sexy mouse sitting on his right side cuddling him. He needed to keep his boner down.
Luckily for Sonic, by the time Naomi had found her way back to the group, there wasn't much time left in class. They were about halfway through the line of students when the bell rang for lunch. There was a collective groan by the ones that hadn't gotten to play, but Miss Carmen silenced them with a knowing wink.
"I will ask the Principal about having this in here on Wednesday, so that the rest of you may have your turn. For now, I wish you all a good lunch, and I'll see you back here on Wednesday."
The teacher began cleaning up the game, and the class, including Sonic, exited the room, heading for their lockers, and eventually the cafeteria
