I woke the next morning with an aching heart. I had woken up sevral times last night to check on Nina,Taro and Mnerloth. All three of them were emotional wrecks. I felt guilty,there family had been torn apart by this war,while mine had grown all the stronger. Taro had lost everything,his team,his mate,his son,his best friend. Now,Nina didn't even have anyone to cry to. All she had was their son,and how long before he was taken from her as well? I wished I could just take them and walk away from all of this. I lay in bed,with Adelind and the kids next to me.

"I'm lucky,I thought,fate has been so cruel to them,but kind to me."

"Why?"

The door clicked open,Ator was standing there,dressed in full combat gear.

"Tyro",Ator's voice was deadly serious,I knew that what he was about to say was not a joke. "Nolan wants everyone on base down on the runway in full combat gear."

"I'm on my way,I stated. I nudged Adelind awake.

"Good morning my love",Adelind said nuzzling me.

I returned her nuzzle,"Ator just came by,grab you gear,Nolan wants us all down on the runway.

Adelind and I helped each other into our gear. Though not an active soldier,Adelind had found the 20mm LRR to be a good fit and could often out do Rolland and Wyatt,but not me or val. Her vest sported a MK-48 GPMG as a back up. Like on me,Raven's standard issue black combat fatigues covered from the base of her neck to the tip of her tail,her tan,scale print vest perfectly matched her. The strike Force Raven patch that clung to her chest and left shoulder perfectly suited her.

"There is something about you",I said looking her over,"in black combat gear that I find very attractive".

Adelind laughed and licked my snout.

"Let's wake the kids."

We nudged the kids awake and they stared at us wide eyed.

"Dad,Tyson asked,is Mom going on a mission with you?"

"I don't know son",I replied nuzzling him,"but Nolan want's us all down on the runway,get your stuff on".

The kids wern't big or strong enough to carry weapons or go into combat yet,but I'd had small vests and fatigues made for them becasue they just kept begging me. They had gone nuts when i showed them. They loved wearing the black fatuiges and the scale print vests with Raven's symbol on them and were always showing off to the other cubs. We helped the kids into their stuff and then we walked down to the runway. The entire base was gathered. Dragons of all sizes and colors were gathered in a neat and orderly fashion.

"You even got your mate and kids involved in this now,Ator said laughing and inspecting my cubs.

"Kids,Ator said looking them over,"Did your Dad ever tell you that you look awesome in Raven's uniform?"

"Damn Adelind,Vanlith said,"that looks good on you."

"Thanks,Adelind said smiling.

Ace and the kids were staring at the different weapons vests,"I want one like Mom's Dusk said staring at his mother's 20mm.

"I want one like Dad's Ace said motioning to my 105.

"Ator's is cool",Tyson said staring at Ator's Gatling gun.

Helix continued to stare for a bit and then said,"I like Val's gun,it's cool looking."

"You can't pick a weapon based off looks,I said lowering myself so I was at eye level with them,"you have to pick based off how you fight."

"What do you mean Daddy,Helix asked as the kids gathered around.

"Ator likes to blow things up,so he picked the gun that he thought could do the most damage."

"I like to remove the bad guy with one,hard hitting shot,so I carry the 105 and your Mom likes to stay out of the way,so she picked the twenty millimeter."

"Makes sense,Dusk said absorbing everything I'd said.

"I still want the 105",Ace muttered.

As the rest of my team showed up,I did a head count and noticed we had an extra.

"Kisenth",i said,"nice to see you."

"You too Tyro sir",Kisenth replied.

I could tell her parents had been drilling her.

"No need for that,I said smiling.

"Kisenth",Ace said nuzling her,"what are you doing here?"

"Coming to see you of course",Kisenth replied with a bit of a giggle.

Ace blushed.

"You look good in your Dad's team uniform",Kisenth said inspecting Ace.

"You do too",Ace said blushing even more.

Kisenth was wearing gray fatigues with a snow print vest. A blue and white patch with gold embezzling and a dark blue snowflake bearing the words Strike Force Raider clung to her chest. The crowd fell quiet as Nolan walked out from the hanger with Nesenth following him closely. Even they were in full combat gear. Something was very wrong here. Nolan stepped up onto a podium so he had an over view of all of us.

"It's good you all came,because I have some very bad news."

"As you all know,Hunter Firechaser and Shadow Salanth did not come back from their last mission."

"Taro Salanth,your son has been confirmed to be alive,but Mnerloth Firechaser,your father has been confirmed KIA you have the condolences of everyone here."

Adding to my uneasiness,Taro was nowhere to be seen.

"This however is not why I called you all here."

"I have called you here to tell you that the Lung Wei temple in China was attacked last night by RDS."

"Were there any survivors,A female dragon's voice came from up front.

"No mam",Nolan said,"all dragons at the temple were KIA."

"Spies have since uncovered",Nolan gritted his teeth,"the culprit behind this mass murder." "General Lung Wei is a traitor." "He is a part of Project Draco and his mission,given to him by the US government was simple,kill all rouge dragons." Twenty years ago,he and I rescued Major Taro Salanth from death,he tricked us into forming the Resistance,so rouge dragons would come and enlist,thus be close to Wei,the spy."

The crowd,human and dragon alike,gasped,and then fell silent.

"Will they come here",A human male asked.

"No",Nolan said,"the only people who know the exact location of this base have since proven themselves to be trustworthy."

"So,Hudson asked,"the Resistance,all of what we stand for,all of it was a trick?" "A lie to lure us to our deaths?"

"No Hudson,Nolan said,"I assure you,here,it is real."

"I'm not going to lie to you,Nolan said continuing,"World War Three is knocking on our door." "Lung Wei must be found and killed,by ANY means necessary and RDS must be exterminated." "For now,all we can do is keep our ears alert and our eyes primed." While Wei may not know the location of Romeo at the moment,he will find out soon." "Now,I have many leads on where he might be,if your Squads name is called,leader's please step forward with your troops,take your mission folder and proceed to your V-22,the rest of you may go about your daily activities.

"Raider Squad,Eagle Squad,Hell Squad,Condor Squad,Nolan called the names of six more squads,each one,the dragons and humans were harder looking than the last. "Raven Squad,please report to the command tent for your mission."

My team and I turned and went to the command tent. After around ten minutes or so of waiting,Nolan walked in,you could tell he was not happy.

"You need to calm down Dad",Nesenth pleaded,"you'll give yourself a stroke."

"I'm sorry son,Nolan said,"but I've never been so damn angry."

"So what you got for us,Hudson asked taking his FAL from his back.

"I have a lead on Shadow's location",Nolan said bringing up a hologram of an aircraft carrier.

"It's called the USS Draco,Nolan said,"I have very strong suspission's that Wei is on broad,along with his second in command. Tyro,against all my better judgment,Adelind and Nina will be joining you and Raven on this mission,I will watch Ace and your cubs for you."

I huffed,I didn't like the idea of Adelind going into combat,but Nolan outranked me,so I didn't have much of a choice,

"Sir yes sir",I answered.

"I've down loaded everything you need for the mission onto your vets's CPU,dismissed."

"Sir yes sir,we replied in unison.

My friends left the tent but I stayed behind.

"I said dissmissed Tyro",Nolan said sharply.

"I know sir,I said,"but I need a promise from you."

"Anything",Nolan said.

"When this mission is over,you take Adelind off active duty,are we clear?"

"You have my word,Nolan said,"dismissed Major."

"Yes Sir",I said turning and exiting the tent. My team was waiting outside.

"Let's go," I ordered. We boarded our V-22 and found places to lay as it began to spin up. Adelind had a look of exitment on her face.

"Nervous",I asked turning to her.

"A little",she replied,"I've never been into combat before."

"Just remember what I've taught you",I said nuzzling her,"and you'll be fine."

"Tyro",Sozenn asked,"what's the mission?"

"Rescue Shadow and kill Lung Wei and his second in command if they present themsleves."

"A secondary objective,I said continueing,"Is to free all prisoners and sink the Draco."

"Mnerloth,Val,Vez,Adelind and I will rescue Shadow",I said,"Sozenn,you Tess,Syralth and the humans will free the prisoners."

"Understood",Sozenn said placing his head between his paws.

I turned to Nina,"Are you going to be okay,I asked with concern,"we are all here for you Nina." "I'll be fine,Nina said.

"Wei's going to die Nina",I said,"I'm going to rip him apart."

Nina balled up and fell asleep,but I could see a few tears run down her muzzle.

"I feel so sorry for her,"Adelind said laying her head on my paws,"I know what it feels like."

I licked her across the snout.

"Get some sleep",I said laying my head on her neck,"It's going to be a long day."
