LM Prologue
#1 of Lost Memories
This is my first deal I made so don't be harsh or else jk.
I stepped out of the car into the night's cold air. Not a soul was stirring; it was quite, and a little eerie. I shut the door and told the driver thanks for the lift he nodded and drove away. I started to walk towards the Aragon Ballroom. The cool air pricked the hairs on the back of my neck making them stick up; it seemed to get colder with every step I took. As I drew closer to the ballroom I heard the faint sound of music being played; I looked up at the building through the glass and saw shadows dancing across the ceiling. I walked up to the front door only to be greeted by two familiar faces.
"Invitation please." Said the Doberman in the wheel chair.
I looked down at him; I felt my heart sink at the fact that he didn't recognize me.
"Invitation please." He said again as he looked at me with questioning eyes.
I reached into my trailblazer and felt the icy cold steel of my Colt .45 SAA I removed my paw from the jacket; I must have forgot to remove it after my last job.
"What's wrong can't find it?" asked the Dobermans wife.
I fiddle through all my pockets and finally found it.
I handed it over and he opened it, inspecting the invitation.
"Thank you Mister........" he stopped and re-read the name and looked up at me in shock.
His eyes widened with amazement and he started to inspect my face I removed my old Chicago gangsters hat. I saw his eyes fill with tears of joy. The dim light from the street lamps beamed off my scars. He sat and took in how much I've changed.
I looked over at his wife; she saw the scars on the right side of my face and instantly knew.
"O-Brian!" they said in unison.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Doeh." I listened to how I said this in a monotone voice and frowned on the inside at it. But that's what happens when the government makes you an emotionless hit man.
The both gave me a hug I couldn't bring myself to return the gesture. My paws were too stained with blood.
"Boy you are bigger than I remember, how long has it been since we last saw you?" asked Mrs. Doeh while backing up as if to examine me
"Ten years... ten long years." I replied low and monotone again.
"Well you must be making a good living dressed in such a snazzy suit like that complete with a hat and gloves too, damn." Mr. Doeh said with a good humored smile.
I didn't want to think about what I've done through the years. I felt the cold air starting to set into my thick coat.
"Well I think that's everyone that will be showing up tonight lets head in." Said Mr. Doeh with an excited anticipation.
I gave him a smile and put my hat back on. "Hey you guys, can you keep me being here a secret."
They looked at each other and smiled then looked at me and nodded in silence. We all went inside closing the doors behind us and headed to the elevator, as we waited I started to get nervous for the first time in 10 years. The elevator dinged and we moved into the elevator in as if we were robots. I punched the button for the fifth floor; we waited in silence as the elevator moved slowly up to the fifth floor. The elevator dinged loudly and the doors slid open. Many familiar faces looked over at us as we stepped out. It was as if they were expecting us.
The stares made feel a little unnerved. I examined the entire room. There were banners and streamers hanging high above us the balloons in here seemed a little out of place. The lushes chandelier looked amazing from the last time I saw it not to mention the dance floor complemented It so well. The entire room was high arched and I stood in amazement at its beauty. I looked around the room at all the lifeless faces. Then I saw them, the two that meant my whole world.
"Goldie... Ms. Silva!" I gasped and gawked at the two. The pups that were dancing with them looked just like me. My heart started throbbing at this thought.
I started to make my way to them gently pushing anyone out of the way. I got over to them in the middle of the dance floor.
I tapped Goldie on the shoulder and she turned to look at an out stretched paw.
"May I have this dance?" I asked in a deep monotone voice trying to hide my face.
She looked at me and smiled, she then scooted the pup off; I watched the pup as it went to sit down.
She took my hand and gave me a small smile while trying to see under the hat, I turned away. The pain started to get worst.
We started to Waltz and a small crowd gathered around us cheering us on. As I got to the fourth spin in the routine I felt my hat slip off. I closed my eyes hoping no one noticed me covering up the scars but the music stopped and so did the cheering. I heard Goldie turn around and gasp.
Whispers filled the hall I heard my name being said over and over.
"O-Brian..." said Goldie crying as if she seen a ghost.
I looked over at her and I started to walk over to her slowly, she backed up. I stopped and turned around to face the crowd all their jaws dropped, I heard footsteps behind me and I turned sharply to the noise.
"Goldie...I..." she nearly tackled me; she hugged me as tightly as she could, and her head was dug into my chest crying into my jacket smearing make-up on it. I didn't mind though, I raised a paw to place it on her back, but I couldn't. I felt to undeserving for this. I looked up at Ms. Silva she started to run towards me. I braced myself for the impact she fell into my arms and started to sob hysterically. They cried in my chest and I couldn't feel myself to share their grief, the pain was now burning, I saw the two pups come over they tugged at their mothers dresses, they snapped out of the trances they were in and looked down at the confused faces of their young. They wiped away the tears in their eyes and picked them up to reassure them that they were all right. Then took a couple steps back.
The kids looked at my face and looked away in terror I sighed, never did get use to that.
I looked at Ms. Silva with tender eyes she gave me a smile.
"Leslie Silva..." I said then looked at Goldie
"Lyn Lokhart... I mean Goldie... I missed you both so much." The pain was worsening as the memories flooded my mind like a massive tidal wave. The memories that were sealed for so long. I grasped my chest gritting my teeth.
The kids looked at me again and wanted down, the two let them down and they ran over to me picking up my hat along the way. I looked down at them and lost my breath, I could tell they were mine. My head started to throb it was like adding fuel to a raging fire and my skull felt as if it was about to split in two.
They looked up at me and asked "Are you... our daddy?" the memories rushed into my head the pain was too much I stumbled back and fell into a chair, the pain of all the memories I had danced in my head and my heart, they flashed across my eyes like a movie.
I looked up at the ceiling grasping my head and chest hoping the pain would stop. The room started to spin. It was too much and I passed out in the chair. The memories still playing back in my head...
Stay tuned for the massive flashback O-Brian has while passed out.
