#7 of Close Combat

Mimi placed the glass on the counter and turned to see what all the panting and gasping was about but only saw Sol with a gun pointed at her. Her ears lopped talk it out... She thought to herself. Well between fist and gun, the gun normally wins. "Sol... what's wrong...?" Well when talking out a gun shot it normally doesn't work at times. Mimi yelped even if nothing had hit her. Taking a few steps away from the bullet that was embedded into the kitchen wall.

Time quickly jumped to his paws. "What happened?!? ... I wasn't asleep... Mimi?" He saw his owner and it looked like she had seen a ghost or something. He looked at Solaris who was out on the floor, then his gun. "You tried to shoot my owner!" Time hissed looking down at Sol. He knew this fox was up to no good!

Mimi stood there afraid to get close to Sol. He could be playing dead. She just sat down leaning against the wall, her arms wrapped around her legs. She looked over to the table she had let the radio Wolfe had gave her.

Time hissed as he started to jump on the fox again and again "Take this you traitor" He meowed as he jumped on him again and again.

Mimi shook her head. Sol wouldn't kill her, she was sure. Even if he had a gun pointed at her. Maybe it was just emotional conflits. She knew Hinakura had friends with problams like that. She got onto fours and quickly padded over to him, curling up besides him "Time, that's enough..." She muttered looking over to the gun that could have killed her seconds ago. She took it and slid it across the floor. Well better safe then sorry. Besides it was out of paws reach.

Time shook his head "He tries to kill you and you still act like he's a good person!" He said sarcastically and left to hide under Mimi's bed.

Sol walked through the forest, wondering why he was here. It was an empty forest, with nothing so much as a bird in miles. 'All the better for me. I prefer being alone.' He thought, as he always did. He walked to the center, about to walk into a clearing, when he was stopped. He couldn't tell what had stopped him, only that he'd stopped. He tried to walk toward whatever was in the clearing, but nothing he tried helped. He sighed and turned around. Oh well. He took two steps foreward and then...

Sol's eyes slowly opened. The first thing he registered was he had no gun on his right hip. The second thing was that he had a splitting headache. The third thing was that Mimi was curled up near him. And the fourth... "Oh god!" He gasped, sitting upright. He'd shot at mimi! What was he thinking?! 'That's just it! I wasn't thinking!' He gasped. That sudden movement had nearly made him barf. He looked around and saw his gun. He quickly discharged the magazine, clicking the bullets into his hand, counting them. He was short two, but one was in the chamber. He'd fired a shot. He looked around and saw a hole in the kitchen wall. "Found.... The bullet..." He said grimly, loading the bullets back into the magazine and reloading it into his gun. He didn't bother with the safety. If he needed his guns he'd need them ready. He walked to mimi on all fours. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean to shoot at you..... I had this dream.... Then this voice...." He sighed, shaking his head. "No excuse..." He licked her cheek and stood up. He felt woozy still, but he wasn't about to stay near Mimi if it meant he might shoot at her again. He walked to the door, pausing to look back at her. "I'm really sorry..." He said before walking out.

Outside it was pitch black. He walked into the street, where the kids had been playing. Shaking his head, he turned and walked. He got about ten feet from the house when he realized he couldn't leave. 'I have to!' He thought, trying unsuccessfully to move his legs. Growling, he walked back to the house and sat down where he'd been earlier. He looked at the door. "Guess that cat was right..." He muttered. "But I can be persuasive..."

Mimi let out a sigh as he left the house, Once he was out the door she got up and padded over to her room. She grabbed her Kamas that where decorating the way and a piece of cloth. She sat down on her bed and started to polish the blades. Her ears were lopped and her tail wasn't wagging.

Time crawled out from under the bed "Learned your lesson?" He said giving her one of disappointing looks that parents give to there kids. Mimi just nodded as she continued to polish the weapon. "No more homeless pets, understand!" He finished and went back under the bed.

Well she didn't know that Sol came back. She was to busy drowning in her own pain. Once she finished polishing one of the Kamas she went to the second one. She looked over to the door, it was open. "Time can you close the door..." she asked but it was more of a demand but she sounded like she was going to cry.

Time once more crawled out from under the bed "Don't worry Mimi. You'll forget about him." He said and closed the door. He disliked how Mimi was trying to find someone but he didn't blame her, besides it hurts to lose someone, or for Time, to find out the cat is already taken.

Sol sighed as the door was closed. He stood up. "Damn it..." He muttered, looking at the window. "GOD DAMN IT!" He roared, punching the wall as hard as he could and actually cracking it, leaving a blood stain from his split knuckles. He punched the wall twice more before turning and walking back to the road. The sound of an oncoming horse brought him to his sences, though barely. 'Someone to kill!' The voice shouted with glee. 'Kill them! Do it! Do it, kill them now!' His body put up no resistance.

He drew his knife and stood as the horse raced up. Then he lept, his blade cutting through the horse's neck and then through the rider's side. Sol was spattered with blood, but he didn't notice. The rider screamed in pain and flew off of the dead animal. Sol sheathed his knife and drew his guns. He fired twice into the rider's head. The blood arced into the air, and in a moment of bloodlust he fired off every bullet he had in his guns. he ejected the clips and reloaded. He fired two more bullets into the body before turning and looking at Mimi's house. Then he walked off, raising his gun and shooting at three men on the side of the road.

'Good! Goooood! Kill! Kill them all! No mercy! Show no mercy! AHhahahahahahahahahah!!!'

Sol swung his gun at a snap, but froze. Standing there was a young girl, alot like the one in his dream. His breathing sharpened, his eyes widened.

'What's wrong? She's not innocent! She's human! No human is innocent! Remember how they treated you?! FIRE DAMN YOU!' The fox fired, but into the air. He fired again and again, then brought one smoking gun to his head. "Damn you..." He muttered.

Mimi's ears picked up. She heard the gun shots, maybe everything Sol did say meant nothing. She walked out into the living room and grabbed the radio Wolfe had given her. She pressed a button on the side and pressed down on the button, there was a beep that followed "Wolfe, there's a fox on a rampage not far from my house. I would do something but he has a gun." She released the button and placed the radio on the table.

Mimi walked out the front door, just to see what was going on outside. She saw some of the neighbors looking out there windows to see who was making all the noise. She sighed wondering if Wolfe was on his way. Well Mimi knew that she was no match to a gun. She decided to see were Sol was, she went back inside and grabbed the radio then ran out of the house, it wasn't hard to follow Sol's scent.

She found him but she kept her distance. She tried to make sure that she couldn't be seen as she clipped the radio to her skirt, she had forgotten to lower the volume on the radio so if any messages came she was dead, seeing Sol had gone mad. Her ears lopped as she saw him bring the gun to his head. She wanted to stop him if he was going to do what she thought he would, but she stayed put. "Don't do it Solaris..." She whimpered quietly.

Solaris cringed. He had barely heard Mimi, but he HAD heard her. He didn't want her here. He pulled the trigger, waiting for the explosion.... And waiting... Sol opened his eyes, blinking. He was empty!

'Hah! Nice try! Reload and kill the girl!'

Sol's arm dropped down to his side. His hands went numb, and the guns dropped from them.

"Damnit..... What's in my head?!"

'What? I'm hurt! I'm a who!'

"Then WHO?!"

'I'm you. Another part of you. The part that yearns for blood, even as you yearn for that girl.'

The voice was cold, spiteful. But it was almost undoubtable, it was him.

'You see, that dream you had woke me up. I realized I was no longer wanted to sit inside you. So I began stealing your energy. Now I have enough to split from you. Thank you, you should be proud. You're going to create new life without ever yiffing.'

"W...What?!"

He groaned, and his body pulsed.

"I can't seem to get you to kill." Said a voice right beside him. Almost him. "So I'll be making my own body. Hope to kill you one day." Solaris groaned, his eyes widening as his energy focused around an area right next to him. A body formed, sleek fur, dark gold, almost black, with traces of black throughout, flaring red eyes, and an evil grin. Then came black jeans and a brownish-white jacket, just like Sol's. On his waist were two black Desert Eagles, and a black-bladed combat knife held in his hand. His left hand had an X on it, the right gloved and holding the knife. "It feels so good to be free. But I don't like your name much... I'll just twist it around, shall I? Yes, Siralos. Fitting. I'm your opposite, and my name's yours, only backwards." The fox's evil grin widened, and he turned to Mimi, drawing his guns. "You, my dear Vixen, are a liability. You know what I do with liabilities, don't you?"

Mimi's ears picked up as she unclipped the radio from her skirt and pressed the button gain "WOLFE GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!!!" She released the button and re clipped it back to her skirt. She watched the other fox appear. She hoped Wolfe would get here soon.

She knew that Siralos had seen her. Well no use hiding or running away. She stood up onto two and smirked. She knew that she should be running but it would probably give him the pleasure of her being a coward. "So you're going to shoot me? Without that gun of yours, you would be as useless as a new born cub!" She hissed as she took a step towards this new fox.

Mimi looked over to Sol her ears lopped, well she knew that she was going to get killed running away or standing her ground. So why not be stupid and stand up to the evil fox. Her eyes shifted back to Siralos, her ears picked up. "Well if you're going to kill me, bring it on!" She said sounding confident but deep down inside she was scared.

Mimi's ears flickered, ready to bolt. She was normally able to miss the first two shots. By then the person was down and out but this might be a different story. Well paws normally don't beat a gun.

Siralos sneared as he raised his guns. "I'm a fox of many talents. I'm just like Solaris in many respects. But unlike him I don't need a friend. I need blood. I need to kill, to see blood boil from wounds that will soon kill. And you, my dear, will be my first target. Goodbye!"

He pulled the triggers, and four shots went off. Sir turned and glared at Sol, who's guns were smoking.

"You BASTARD!" Sol roared, dropping his guns and rushing him, bloody knife in hand. "I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" Sir ducked and weaved, dodging the slashes with obvious ease.

"Come now. Why the emotion? Is it because I was about to kill your love? Hmm? Or is it the fact that you feel hollow without me in you?" He raised his gun to fire but it was knocked from his hand, into the air and into Sol's hand. Sol spun around, his knife burrowing into his clone's body. Sir yelped and jumped back, his knife falling from his belt. Sol jumped back and grabbed one of his guns, raising them.

"Black and white? How fitting." He growled, emptying both magazines and immediatly reloading. He leapt away as Sir leapt foreward, grabbing one of Sol's guns. Sol growled and rushed forward, ducking past the shots. He brought his gun to the gold-black fox's shoulder and fired.

Sir yelped, jumping back, blood pouring from the wounds. He quickly holstered his guns. "I'll be back, Solaris. And when I return, you better HOPE to GOD that you can hide." With that he raced off. Sol holstered the black-and-white guns and picked up the black-bladed knife.

"The bastard took my gun AND my knife?!" He said aloud. "Damnit!" He fell on his back, exhausting hitting him like a brick wall. "He used all my energy to form..."

Mimi curled up on the ground at the gun fires. Well not she was showing who she really felt as she started to shake just at the thought of being hit. She watched Sol hoping he wouldn't die. Her ears lopped as she just watched.

Once everything was done she left out a sigh. Well Sol had won from the looks of things. She got up onto fours and hurried over to him then curled up beside him. She licked his cheek a few times before nudging his face with her nose. "Lets get back inside before something bad happens.' She said then grabbed the radio once more and pressed the button again. "Never mind Wolfe. But watch out for a dark gold fox with red eyes." She released the button and re clipped to her skirt.

Time yawned and looked around. "That was a nice nap..." He crawled out from under the bed. He noticed that his owner was gone. "Damn fox" He hissed as he jumped out the window and headed for his owner. Time knew where she was at all times even with no trail, it was a part of the contract he had taken. Once he reached his owner he hissed seeing her with that fox again. "Mimi, I thought you learned! Leave that street animal alone!" His tail crackled.

Sol sat up, then stood up. "Cat, I just had my energy drained, an evil clone of me tried to kill Mimi, then he tried to kill me, and now I feel like shit. I REALLY don't want to punt you through a wall but I'm getting really sick and tired of your fucking mouth. I'm not afraid of you.I'm not like all the wusses you've intimidated. Oh, wow, you have fire for a tail! I'm REAAAALLLY scared!" He put the black knife into his sheath. "I will warn you once and only once. I am not the kind of guy you want to piss off. Hell, if you weren't so close to mimi I'd have sent you through the wall the first time you spoke to me. It's BECAUSE you're close to mimi that I didn't do anything. I'm not afraid of getting burned. I can heal myself. I swear to god if you spout out any more shit about me tonight I'll shove my footpaw so deep into your mouth I'll be tickling your toes. Am I understood?"

Without waiting for an answer he walked towards Mimi's house, stumbling every so often. He WAS telling the truth, he wasn't going to stand that damn cat talking to him in that tone. Or about him. He was serious about his threats. He'd probably put a bullet through that damn cat's skull if he tried anything again. And he'd use his... Brother's gun. Sol looked at the black Desert Eagle in his holster. "I'll have to get used to it..." He muttered, drawing it and spinning it around on his hand in many different ways. "It's mine now..." He sighed and stumbled into Mimi's house, callapsing on the couch. "I'll just.... Get some rest.... If the cat protests.... I'll kick him through a wall in the morning..." He sighed and drifted off to sleep.

Time cringed. Nobody but his owner talked to him like that. Well Ookami did somewhat, but he didn't do that good of a threat. Time decided to that there were kudos for what Sol just did, but he didn't say anything, just a friendly look. He stayed quiet until they got into the house.

Mimi smiled as she snuggled up to Sol a bit on the way back "I think he's starting to like you." Well she was sure Sol could care less. Her ears lopped then picked up again. She noticed Time was quiet. Normally he would be yowling about how he wanted Sol out of the picture.

He jumped onto the couch and curled up on the arm rest. "Night" he yawned then with a crackle of his tail he was asleep.

Mimi locked the front door. It would be useless if Sol's bad ass side ever came back but it was worth a try. She walked into her room and closed the window, put the Kamas she had been polishing back on the wall, then lay down on the bed. She rolled over to her side and fell asleep. This had been one hell of a day.

The sound of running water made Sol look around. He wasn't in Mimi's house anymore, he was in a light forest. The running water was a small stream nearby. Sol stood up, feeling his guns on his belt. He looked around at the demolished huts around him. What had happened? Gunfire erupted a long ways off. Automatic, high caliber. Assault rifle rounds. Sol shivered. "I'm not gonna stay here!" He thought aloud, turning to run towards the river. He was confronted by a young fox that looked like him, only sixteen years younger. He stood in the middle of the village, looking around, wide-eyed. Then he mewled and ran off. Sol followed him, as he always did in the dream, until he got to a road. Then the little fox fell on the side of the road, in some bushes. What seemed like an instant later he was waking up in a cage, back where he'd lived for so long, with his brothers and sister around him.

Sol yawned and sat up, stretching. From the looks of things dawn was just cracking, and everyone in the house was asleep. Standing, Sol walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge. He grabbed some meat from the fridge and some bread from nearby. He quickly cut the meat into thick pieces, but not too thick. He'd often made bacon out during his travels, and he'd realized that the thicker the slice, the crunchier it'd be on the outside and the chewier on the inside. IF you cooked it right. Glancing around, the fox wondered what was used to cook. Then he sighed as he realized Time probable had a hand in it. Or paw, as the case may be. Sighing again, Sol walked into the living room and shook the cat. "Hey, Time, mind helping out? If you do I'll give you a few pieces of bacon and maybe some toast. IF you don't burn it."

Time opened one eye half way and yawned. Waving him off with his paw. "Let me sleep..." Time yawned again and closed the eye he had opened. Well Time spent most of his day sleeping. He didn't wake up for anyone unless his owner was sick. He purred lightly he was mostly asleep when Sol had bothered him.

Mimi wasn't having the best dream. Her mind might be saying Sol was a good fox but her subconscious was saying something different.

Mimi was running away followed by an angry Sol. Not his evil looking side but the fox she had loved. She kept running until she ran into a dead end. She turned around to see Sol with a gun pointed at her. There was a bang and Mimi was down on the ground. "Solaris! Please don't... don't kill... me.... Solar..." With every pause there was another gun fire. After about another 12 shots randomly placed along her body. She looked up to see a black creature with big yellow eyes appear. "Solaris... please" It hurt too much to continue talking.

The creature dug it's claws into Mimi's chest ripping out her heart. Which at that point Mimi was dead. The creature feasted on her heart, then Solaris and the creature left.

Mimi woke up but it was still dark outside. She let out a sigh and sat up. She looked around the room then curled up and fell asleep again. She was sure the dream would never come true, Sol would never kill her, would be? She saw him as her future mate so why would he?

Sol blinked, momentarily surprised. Then he growled. "Look you little furball I'm hungry and I'm pretty damn sure that when Mimi wakes up she'll be hungry too. Now then, either you wake up and cook that food or I'll make sure that you never wake up again." With that he walked to Mimi's room to check on her. He smiled when he saw she was still asleep. "She looks beautiful when she sleeps." He muttered, pulling the door closed and walking back into the living room. "I mean it cat." Was all he said before walking outside. He loved watching the sun come up. With a quick leap he landed on the roof of the house, looking at the horizon with an unobstructed view. It took about fifteen minutes, but the sun finally climbed up and out of the hole he slept in. Sol smiled and jumped back down. Turning, he started to walk back inside when he heard a noise. Immediatly Sol spun around and watched a ball bounce and roll towards him. It bumbed his foot and came to a rest. Sol kneeled down and picked the ball up. It was brand new. Sol looked around, wondering where it had come from. He looked at the ball again, then up.

"Woah!" He gasped, falling on his butt. Standing right in front of him was a child. More disturbing yet was he had a hole in his chest. "Excuse me mister." he said politely, despite the blood boiling from his chest wound. "Can I have my ball back?" Sol nodded numbly and tossed the ball to the boy. He caught it and smiled. "Thank you mister! Oh, and before I forget!" He bounced the ball absently. "It wasn't your fault. You didn't do it." Then he was gone. The ball bounced into the air, then came back down, bounced again, and came to a rest.

"What the hell...?!"

Sol stood up and walked back into the house.

Mimi covered the blankets over her head as the suns rays shined though the window. She had the same nightmare again and she even tried running in a different direction on the dream but she was turned into crow food again. Mimi finally got up about 20 minutes later. She yawned stretching out a bit. Then walked out of the room. She looked down to see the radio still clipped to her skirt. She placed it on the table in the living room.

She padded over to the kitchen and pulled out a frying pan, butter, a few slices on ham, eggs, and honey. "Time!!!" She yelled sounding a bit tired.

Time padded over to the kitchen and jumped onto the counter. She placed the pan onto his tail and rubbed some butter onto the pan then placed it aside. She placed two of the five pieces on ham onto the pan. Each piece was about the size of a disk and about half an inch thick. She left the ham to cook as she grabbed a three plates and a bowl for Time. She also pulled out some milk from the fridge. She closed the door and placed everything on the counter by Time. She turned over the pieces of ham to let the other side cook.

She looked around to see Sol. "You want your meat cooked? And for the eggs, sunny side or scrambled? I'm sure you don't want your eggs raw." She smiled as she quickly placed the pieces of cooked ham on a plate. Mimi ate her food cooked because growing up to eating cooked food means she didn't have the stomach to handle raw meat.

Sol just stood for a few minutes. His body was completly numb. "I... Uh.... Cut bacon.... Cook it for.... Uhm.... About ten minutes... Did anybody else just see that kid?" He looked at Mimi uneasily. "Please tell me you saw it..." He opened the door. The ground was still stained with the blood from the kid, as was the ball.

"At least I know I wasn't mad..." He took a deep breath and closed the door again. "Oh... Yeah, Sunny side. I'll take the meat raw, though. I don't really like the taste of cooked meat. Except bacon, though I don't know why..." He shrugged and sat on the couch. "And I'll remember this, you little fire rat. Mimi, don't cut the bacon any thinner. ten minutes will cook the meat through but won't make it completly crunchy. Trust me, you'll like it." He sighed and dug around in his pack, looking for something. His fingers brushed against paper, and Sol cringed in physical pain. He quickly went on, a little deeper, until he found it. He drew out a gold necklace with the letters I S on it. It was the only thing he'd managed to keep from his "Father" when he sold all his things. Engraved on the lettering was Sol's name, and some other words that didn't make much sense to him. Shrugging, he zipped his pack closed and put the necklace in his jacket pocket. "You know," he said aloud, "I have a very interesting life...... Sometimes I wonder, was this the life I was meant to lead?"

He laughed and stood, walking to Mimi and licking her cheek before leaning against the wall. "Then I look at the things I have, and I look at you. You know what I think? Who the hell cares if I was meant to live this life? I only get one life. I'd rather live this one, not something somebody claims I SHOULD live."

(A/N: Quick update, eh? XD I wonder if the Italicized words will still be that way in YS? If not then they're seperated from the rest of the story anyway, so >_
