Kevin Foxboy 11) Kevin's Punishment
One day I made Trouble in front of the Humans. In the morning we went to the Big Room to Think Over and Try Out our training, and some New Humans came in with a cage about a meter all over. Guards came to get Clarence, our kennel's First Chrome, to take him to his'an Owner that had him seeded and trained. I saw a big heavy Human bigger than Gray Hair the boss Human handle Clarence.
Clarence the wolf had made all us mixes in the kennel fear him. He hit us when we didn't move fast enough. He even hit his pack mates Chuck the Second Chrome and Chauncey the Third Chrome. He wasn't happy with me as a Leather Collar slave and didn't want to let me help the Chromes teach the Steels to Obey. But it was my Duty and his. When the guards brought him the Big Human Ordered him to kneel and Show Respect, and of course the slave wolf Obeyed. Then the Big Human put on a heavy glove, shoved Clarence and rolled him over. I could see Clarence was mad but he had to Submit. The Big Human grabbed Clarence by the throat with the glove and squeezed.
There were sharp things on the glove that worked like teeth! Wolves know before any Training to Submit to a Throat Bite. Clarence's eyes got big as he knew the meaning; how did the Human know? Big Human let him up; Clarence knew the Human as his Alpha now and meekly Went to the Cage. He let the Guards chain him up and put him in. Clarence had had to be Big and Strong in the kennel, now he was Owned and had a long time place as the slave he was seeded to be. He had his Purpose in Life.
The Humans didn't tell us who would take Clarence's place. Maybe They hadn't Decided yet? Chuck and Chauncey started to fight. All three wolves had been cruel to me and the other Leathers, and it was wrong. I had been angry but held it in, the Vet's whip taught me that. It was more wrong to fight in front of Humans instead of Submit. The Humans didn't stop the wolf fight. That was wrong too. I forgot to Submit, and got Angry.
How could I, a Leather Collar Foxboy, let myself Break Train- ing like that? The chain taken off Clarence was lying on the floor. I watched my paws pick it up, pull it out of the wall, double it up, and swing at them. I hit Chauncey hard on the shoulder and he fell. The silence was very loud as everyone stared at me. I still held the chain, took a step closer and spoke. Just like the Vet when He beat me. The quiet voice just before anger. With pauses between words. That makes everyone listen.
Stop. That. Right. Now! You. Two. Are. Bad! Big. Big. Bad! You. Are. Chrome. Collar. Slaves. You. Are. Trained. You. Know. Better. Teach. The. Others. Humans. WILL. NOT. Let. You. Fight. Like. Animals. Submit! NOW!
My voice sounded deep and strong. It wasn't me anymore. Every- one looked at Chauncey; he hadn't gotten up to hit me back. He was on his knees, whimpering. Showing Respect. To me, a Leather Collar Slave! Chuck was on his knees. All the other mixes nearby were on their knees. Some others were shaking. I still had the chain. There was blood on it! Chauncey's blood! I had hurt him!
I swallowed hard. My arms fell to my sides. I kept the chain. I walked past Chuck and Chauncey, and with one motion put the chain in my mouth and went to my knees. I crawled low with it hanging out each side, slowly to Gray Hair. I stopped three meters away, crossed my wrists, dropped the chain on my paws, hung my head. Raised my arms. Offered the chain to Master, to Punish me.
I have no idea how I thought of that. I hadn't been Trained or Ordered. It just seemed Right, to beat a slave for fighting then big submit to Humans, to pay for doing what was Theirs to do. All my anger, my strength of a moment ago, went away. I was just a slave. A terrified slave.
The Guards just stood there, Gray Hair moved slowly. He took the chain. The Vet spoke. "Kevin, do you feel OK? Any body pain? Feel hot? Head hurt?" I tried to answer each question. "Yes, no, no, no. Master, Masters all, I don't know what I did. I hurt Chauncey. I think I'm ... broken ... in my mind."
It was no joke. I knew I had done a Bad Thing. The Vet went to Chauncey and asked him the questions about hot and head. We all knew OK and body pain were No and Yes. Chauncey could move his shoulder, I hadn't broken it. I begged him to forgive me but he glared and said No. Then he saw my paw that had held the chain and cringed. Nobody told him different, they just walked him to the Vet's office.
I hadn't been Punished yet and I got more afraid. Before when I did wrong I was punished at once. This was the Biggest Bad Thing I'd done and I should get Big Punishment. Big Hurt. Now and for a long time.
I got what I earned. I'd seen Punishment Whip before, seen it used. Now I was chained facing the wall, my wrists stretched and chained, my ankles stretched and chained. A Human put a half hood on me so I could breathe but not see. It was very thick, much more than it needed. Then I heard the soft whistle of Punishment Whip being opened. Sound. That's not what scared me. Yet.
The Punishment Whip is a big thick leather whip that moves so fast at the end that it hits you before you hear it. It hits so hard that you feel it hit, then hear it, then it pushes you very quickly, then Pain More Than Fire burns your mind. There's no way to tell how much it hurts to those who don't know, and anyone who feels it knows without needing words. Punishment Whip hit me five times. The first hit told me why the hood was so thick, The Whip could have broken my eyes. My body moved without my mind saying so, so fast it hurt me more. I only felt that later.
When the Common Whip hits, you scream in Pain. The Punishment Whip hits so hard you can't scream until later, when the Fire Pain cools. Bits of russet fur fell to the floor. My fur, pulled out of my back by the Punishment Whip. No one ever forgets the Punishment Whip, everyone wants very much to do anything to avoid It. I couldn't stand on my back paws, only the chains held me from falling.
I was Punishment Whipped for Breaking Training and using the chain on Chauncey. The Vet had warned me with the Common Whip that Humans don't let mixes be angry. A bloody and very big afraid foxboy was dragged to His office for a Shot and Hurt Cleaning.
