#5 of Pen, love and Pokemon

Sorry for the long break dear readers, had some issues with my health during the last weeks.

The human body really can be a bitch sometimes :S

________________________________________________________________________________

Keir was still gently caressing Zeke, even though the human already fell asleep in his arms.

He enjoyed the sensation of having his beloved one so close and affectionatelly stroke the chestnut-colored hair with tears in his eyes. Tears of joy.

Staring into the campfire, it still felt like a dream to him. His trainer not just tolerated his feelings, he even loved him back!

But if this really was a dream, he just wished to never wake up again.

As Keir watched the flames dancing, his thoughts wandered back to his old trainer. It has been a night just like this. He started to remember it, the night when his last trainer...

Keir slowly shook his head, not wanting to remember that night, not now.

Even though deep within he knew he couldn't run from it forever.

In the distance, Keir could hear the howls of some wild Pokemon.

Initially he just ignored them, because there was nothing he couldn't handle with his newfound strength, but then he felt the human in his arms flinch.

"Don't worry, I will protect you" Keir whispered, softly stroking his cheek.

Zeke mumbled in his sleep and snuggled closer, before he finally calmed down again.

It seemed like the last night had an even worse impact then he wanted to show.

Even though his eyelids started to feel heavy, Keir wasn't going to rest anytime soon, ensuring his trainer's safety for the rest of the night.

Zeke woke up on the next day as the sunrays tickled his face. To his surprise, he found himself still embraced bis his Pokemon. His Lover.

He blushed at the thought. He never really fell in love before, probably because there hasn't been anyone of his age in the village anyway. But now he was sitting there, cuddling with a Pokemon. A male one, as if things wouldn't be weird enough yet.

Maybe he had hit his head a bit too hard, declaring love to his Pokemon. He knew very well that this was a taboo in society...

Zeke chuckled, unable to care less about society. Turning around he wrapped his arms around Keir. It just felt too great to be wrong.

"Morning" the Pokemon greeted him with yawn.

Zeke gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. He realized that Keir must have been awake all the night, watching over him.

The Pokemon weakly nuzzled his trainer in return, closing his eyes.

"Take a rest my friend, I'll make us something for breakfast" Zeke whispered, a loud rumbling sound coming from his stomach underlining the statement.

Keir didn't have any objections to that, considering he hasn't eaten or slept for more than a day.

With a sigh Zeke realized that the campfire wasn't burning anymore, so he stood up, leaving the warm and comfortable embrace of his Pokemon.

Slowly he started to search for some firewood, taking every step carefully, because his body was still hurting like it planned to fall apart on the next sudden move and his legs were shaking heavily.

After taking his time for the usually simple task, he finally managed to arrange some branches and setting them on fire with a match.

Zeke admired his work for a moment and wiped the sweat from his forehead. Taking some berries, he started to cook them over the fire. As the sweet smell of the food filled the air, his stomach rumbled again.

This time however, it was followerd by another deep rumbling sound coming from Keir, who was clearly awake again, looking at the berries hungrily.

Once again, Zeke handed the first load of berries to Keir, who munched them in a few bites.

"Take it slowly" the human laughed. "It's not like someone would try to take your share."

"Oh, really? Something seems to have a different opinion on that though" the Pokemon answered with a chuckle, as another rumbling sound came from Zeke's body.

Several minutes of eating and laughing later, both were able to sate their hunger.

Having taken care of that, it was time for them to move on to another topic.

Even though Zeke suggested it during their meal, Keir refused to get more sleep.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. Besides, it would be better to finally reach the town. I'd really want a real doctor to have a look at you."

At first Zeke tried to assure his Pokemon that there was no need for that, even though he got problems with even sitting upright as the pain in his side started to burn stronger than the campfire.

On the other hand though, Zeke wasn't too sad about that decision, because he didn't want to spend any more time in the forest than he had to anyway.

Zeke started to pack up, or at least he tried to, even though Keir ended up doing most of the work.

Also, much to Keir's disappointment, Zeke decided to put on a new shirt.

After fumbling inside the backpack for a bit, he finally pulled out a green shirt with short sleeves.

While pulling the rather soft fabric over his head, a thought struck him like lightning: His glasses!

He must have lost them when he was sent flying into the woods.

Zeke gritted his theeth. Nancy would probably rip off his head if she knew this, because they were a birthday present and getting them had been quite difficult.

But then again, he wouldn't come home for a long time, so he still had enough time to figure out a way of escaping his doom.

At least it wasn't like Zeke really needed them. He thought that buying them was an overreaction of his aunt anyway.

Besides, who would need glasses just because of mistaking Nancy for Stan. They both had blonde hair after all. And she was standing several meters away. That could have happened to anyone.

Zeke nodded to himself, convinced that it was definitely an overreaction.

"Everything alright?" Keir was concerned when he saw Zeke deep in thoughts.

"Oh, yeah, nothing important" Zeke smiled. "Anyways, let's go." He tried to look energetic as he jumped up, but quickly realized he shouldn't have done that, as his legs gave in.

However, he was spared from hitting the hard and cold ground, because two furry arms catched him just in time.

"S-sorry" Zeke apologized, blushing lightly, but to his surprise, he was now completely lifted off the ground.

"You won't go anywhere like that. Guess it's my turn to do the walking" Keir tried do make a smile, but he couldn't hide his concerns.

After grabbing the backpack too, the Zoroark set off towards the town.

In the beginning, Zeke was in awe of Keir's speed, because the tress just seemed to fly by.

He heard about some really fast Pokemon before, but that was faster than any of his expactations.

Closing his eyes, Zeke tried to relax, feeling the mild breeze on his skin. Just as he started to drift away into a nap, he was suddenly shaken.

To get a better orientation, Keir made a powerfull jump, lifting the both of them over the treetops.

Zeke's eyes widened at the sight. The town was directly in front of them and with Keir's speed they would probalby reach it within the next minute.

As they reached their destination, Keir didn't bother to decrease his speed as he jumped over several dark rooftops, his eyes searching for a certain building.

Luckily the town wasn't too big, so Keir soon found what he searched for:

A huge building with white walls and a red roof.

The front of the ground-floor sponsored a big glass partition, giving it a nice and open look.

On top over the entrance there was a big shield showing a Pokeball.

While quickly making his way inside the Pokemon Center, many people were gawking at Keir.

He was welcomed by a soft voice, belonging to a pink-haired nurse standing behind the counter.

"Welcome to the Nacrene City Pokemon Center, I am..." the nurse stopped when her sight fell upon Zeke. "Oh no, what happened to you, you look horrible!" She exclaimed.

"Just tried to do some fighting myself, though the outcome wasn't too good as you can see" Zeke tried to give her an innocent smile. However, as soon as he finished, the nurse practically ripped him off Keir's arms.

"Audino, get the treatment room ready, we finally got some work to do!" She ordered a little Pokemon that was shyly hiding behind her.

Without another word they left the room through a big door behind the counter, leaving Keir - who just stood there with a concerned look - behind.

Keir didn't know how much time had passed until the door opened again, but he guessed that it was about one hour, or maybe two.

But what the Nurse and her Audino carried inside the room had more resemblence to a mummy than anything else.

The only part of Zeke that wasn't covered by bandages was his face, which, because of the closed eyes and relaxed look, indicated that he was asleep.

"Nothing to worry about" she said with girlish smile. "Come follow me, we have a room for him upstairs."

Keir followed the nurse into a fairly furnished room, with a dark carpet flooring, plain white walls, a small table with chairs next to it and, of course, a simple bed which seemed quite small and uncomforable. Close to the entrance there was another door, which, as Keir assumed, led to the bathroom.

After placing Zeke onto the bed she left the room saying "I'll come to check him tomorrow, make sure he doesn't move too much until then."

As they were left alone, Keir realized that the nurse also had left a clipboard behind.

Curiously he read it, finding out that it contained the diagnosis.

"Some bones with cracks... minor scratches... side bruised like it had been used as a punching bag...

probably stupid. Needs painkillers and some rest."

He stared at the paper in disbelief. ".. the heck is wrong with this nurse? Why did she even bandage him like that... "

Keir shook his head "Humans really aren't the brightest bulbs... with just a few exceptions" he added with a look at Zeke.

Looking at his human partner he wondered why Zeke felt so different compared to all the other humans he met in his life. Just why did he fall in love with him?

Keir sniffed, taking in the humans scent.

He really liked it, a mix of sweat, the faint remembrance of the forest and the usual hospital air, mixed with his personal sweet smell, but there was nothing really unusual about it.

Even though he couldn't see much of him, he also knew that there wasn't a real physical difference too. After all, he had the same amount of limbs as any other human and anything else would be strange anyway.

Though Keir thought with a smirk that his chest was an especially good looking one.

Keir playfully traced a claw over Zeke's chest. Maybe it was nothing visible on the outside, but rather something... inside him?

He chuckled at that thought "Seems like I'm starting to get romantic."

Slipping his claw under a bandage, he slowly tore it apart.

Keir licked his lips "But now I wanna unwrap that present."
