#6 of The Draconian Story

A revelation

To Give the Truth

The night was long and old, so Richard wasn't surprised if the usual bustling streets were quiet with only faint sounds from Xeno street's nightclubs heard from the point where Richard walked wobbly. The effect from the 15 mugs of beer was taking him and thus returning him to drunken state. He walked half-conscious, with wobbly image at his eyes. He was, also, almost run down by a passing vehicle if not for his reflex. Awhile after he sat on a bus stop's bench, he became sober.

"Oh, damn...why did I bother drink those ma...beers?" said Richard to himself. "Who took control over my body?"

"Richard, you drank them by yourself. I'm the one asking you: Why did you bother drinking those?"

"E...Engrak? I was like having a very heated conversation with you, but then I didn't know my left hand was taking a beer. Then I use the gesture I saw from the other guest, and somehow I drank those things without knowing it."

Engrak sighed. "If you're a human, drinking that much can kill you. I tasted a little drip on the table when that dark green friend of yours put me. It was a very, very strong beer that could even make a dragon drunk, but wasn't as strong as that thing Guardiola made to Seraphor. You forgot that time 10 years ago when you went to Dracokin with Ray? He gave one to Ray but you soon blacked out."

"When was that happening? I blacked out?"

"You only inhaled the scent. It wasn't for humans, of course, but Ray became drunk himself after 3 cups. You drank five times the portion, and yet you had just drunk instead of killed. Guardiola was also a herb specialist, and those herbs he got came from mountains mostly unreachable by humans, so no doubt."

"Oh...I get you..."

Richard suddenly vomited and slumped to the seat, breathing hard. He was, in many ways, too weak to walk now.

"Oh man, this also happened to Ray that time," said Engrak in a somewhat disgusted tone. "You need to rest a bit before walking again. Ray got his machineries broken and he couldn't move since those things were replacing half of his body."

"Pretty much...a side effect...huh?"

"Not really. More like a reflex."

Suddenly, Richard's eyes glared open, revealing his shining golden eyes. Then using reflex, he turned around and stopped before the blade cut an unknown black draconian in a hoody pointing a gun at him. He gulped once before falling to the ground while Richard, completely sober, pointing the tip of his sword at him.

"P...please, I'm not trying to kill you..."

"Yeah? And how can you explain that gun on your hand?"

"I...it's just a toy, okay? I need a money...can you give me some?"

"No, I can't. I don't even have money. Good night."

Richard then used his sword's hilt to knock the smaller draconian unconscious. He was then taken by sympathy, feeling that the small draconian was skinny and very unhealthy, so he took him, but then Engrak said, "Richard, what do you think you're doing? In this world if you're a bad guy you won't get any help."

"No, this drake is dying. I can see his half-to-death body behind that...hoody."

"Then where are you trying to take him? To the family's home? They have kid in the house."

I'm...not! I'm trying to find a guard house," he grunted. "Maybe the night-shift guys can..."

"Hello! You seem pretty busy this night, mate. Being a nightshift patrol?"

That was Seiglet's voice from behind him. He turned around and found the white blue draconian alongside Juagar smiling at him, but Richard wasn't all that pleasant.

"Seglet, you son of a bitch! Why didn't you wake me up! This is one in the..."

"More like two in the morning, Richard," said Juagar. "Say, that's a mugger on your back, isn't it? If you want to take him to the police, go to the left of that street behind you and walk along the way. The station should be in front of Bestreid's house, his mom's antique shop."

Richard wanted to ask what a police station was, but afraid to expose himself (which had been done), so he walked following the direction. After he put the draconian in front of the station (while saying at the police to take care of him), Juagar pulled him away from the station and dragging him while closing his mouth, prompting the police to chase them, thinking they were abducting him, although Seiglet's fast-action hit to their heads made them unconscious. They put Richard in the car while driving away before anyone could see and react.

"What did you do to me?! I thought you're trying to kill me, man!"

"Well, to be exact, we wanted your answers."

"For what?"

"Are you really from a distance away from here? I mean, most of the talks you did really are old-fashioned and I almost thought you're crazy," said Juagar. "But from how you acted, I can't convince myself for that. I think you're in a place even further away."

"And also, mate, judging from how you fight in our sparing match, you learned a lot about the tail whip, but your tail seemed over-sized, and you moved quietly and fast, then I saw your legs. You're like a half dino, mate! Those feet weren't a drake's."

"Anyway, I know our kind is like dragons, ranging from our anatomy and physical similarities to our traits, and we're the ones starting the dragon fiction...I mean those before us. But there's a major difference, man. Your feet weren't like a draconian at all. Those are digitigrades seen in dragons."

"W...well, what do you two want to say?"

"Like I ask earlier," said Juagar. "Are you really from this world? You came out from nowhere, yet you're not a Northornian. Who are you?"

"Richard, just tell him already. You told them everything when you're drunk. I'm okay, now. Secrets must be revealed sooner after."

Now Richard knew everything was out, so he sighed, stared at the unseen Engrak (seen in his eyes running outside the car), and said, "Yes, I am not from this world. I'm a human in another world, having a war with the darkness organization, and I had just lost my best dragon friend some weeks ago. I tried to leave those things behind, but...maybe 55 years living in a known world wouldn't let me lose the grip."

"You didn't look that old to me, though, mate. You're like a young man just finished your college, trying to find a job, and a girl."

"Shut up...the truth is...55 years is equivalent to 21 years for dragons. Yes, I'm a half-dragon since in my world the dragon treasure I got slowly poisoned me and changing me into a dragon. But fortunately, my friend told me that because I lost my grip to my world, the poison stopped and...I was thankful my dead friend teleported me into this world."

"More like a random lucky destination, Richard. The black lightning also took your other comrades, remember?" said Engrak trying to correct the fact.

"Uh, yeah, I guess."

"Who are you talking to just now? Since you're not from this world, I believe you are not crazy."

"Well...uh, to give you the truth, Juagar," said Richard with a slow and low tone. "It's my sword. It has a soul inside, and that's my friend's brother."

"Pretty much a good friend, mate," said Seiglet. "Anyway, we're not going to make you like an outcast between us. Believe me, mate. You're just as cool as those dragons in the movies."

"Well, thank you, I'm really fluttered."

"Now, to another part of the problem."

Juagar turned his draconic head to his left and banked sharply that made Richard who didn't use any seat belts being flung to the side and finally made the glass shattered. Juagar stopped on a well-lit shop with a light saying 'Dragon's Lair'.

"Are you hungry? Look, I forgive you for shattering the window, man. This is called convenience store. It's always open...except if it's in a middle of renovation and if it's under repair after a gang war."

"Gang war?"

"That was a very common scene around Milsteir. You're lucky this past month there's no wars, but if it happens, you'll have to see many of your friends died, including us."

"I know...it's just like war, right? I've live inside that condition many times with my friends...and ultimately my dearest friend."

"Yes, I'm sorry for your dragon friend, though," said Juagar. "Say, want to have some meal? I'll teach you how to use microwaves and stuff. It's easy enough. You wanna live here, you gotta now them."

That night/morning, Juagar taught Richard how to use the modern technology unseen in Richard's world. He tried to keep up with Juagar, and they sometimes laughed when the microwave meal they chose was cooked too much, and was fortunate the place had no customers except them. The shopkeeper sometimes confused by Richard's weird behavior, and he had a feeling that the three of them were nuts. He wanted to call an asylum when Richard went to the cashier.

"Y...yes, h...how may I help...you?" said the shopkeeper overwhelmed by fear mainly because of Richard's high posture and big body.

"Uh...how do you pay in this world," asked Richard to Juagar. "In my world, we just leave the gold coins on the table, provide that no one taking it. The tavern keeper guy won't mind it, though."

"Richard, just ask him how much and give him the Calmeths. Nothing special in here."

"How much?"

"10 C...Calmeths."

"O...kay. Give me the money."

"Richard, the style you're asking me is like you're trying to rob me."

"I'm not!"

"Let me take over...uh, here, keep the change."

Juagar gave the draconian two yellow papers with dragon eyes painted on it. There's a Roman number on it saying 'V' each. After the shopkeeper received it, he reluctantly said thank you, and when the three of them went out, he quietly said, "Why am I being surrounded by freaks? I almost shot them!"

After the sunrise (fortunately it's weekend), they were greeted with Cernelesh's harsh face and Vandel's sigh. While Juagar rushed to the back, both females urged Richard to sit down, eyes serious.

"Richard, is it true?"

"True what?"

"You're not from this world, right?" said Cernelesh. "My brother told me when he went back, and I was wrong blaming him with suspects that you're a freak. But, tell me, are you an alien?"

"What is that?"

"Okay, Cernie, you can help me prepare the foods. Say, Mr. Richard," said Vandel. "Were you drunk?"

"Ye...no, wait! This is Seglet's trap! I was taken by it and..."

"Just say the truth, mate. You drank those 15 big shots," said Seiglet. "He wasn't intoxicated by it, so it's really a miracle."

"Well, at least you're not taking another bite with other cheap women. C'mon, Seig, you have to find a proper lady. You're making our family bad, you know. You're the youngest, and yet you haven't had a woman by your side."

"Haha...c'mon, now, Vandel. Not this again."

"I'm saying this as your big sister."

When Seiglet bid his leave, Vandel murmured, "That's my little brother for you, free as a bird."

"You two had a sibling relationship?"

"Yes, Mr. Richard. Seiglet and I were just two from 10 brother and sister family. Seiglet was, unfortunately, the last one, so he was the youngest draconian. He's around 25 now. I'm the fourth. We're from the Voshka family from North Apachia, and currently only both of us lived in Milsteir.

"When father died, he divided his treasures to the ten of us, but it was very unfair. My biggest sister Virena got the most, but Seiglet got the least. He was forced to live under poverty, and so he went to Milsteir after being bullied by Tonos...my big brother and the third in the family. I was in pity with him, but three years after I married Juagar and went here with him, I knew he became somewhat a warrior, one of the high ranks in the Union Guard, and the leader of post 42, as he said."

"Wow...but I thought Viglerne was..."

"Viglerne was one rank over him," said Juagar when he sat down beside them. "He was the leader of the night squad, or to put it simply, the leader of all 23 posts that worked at night."

"What the..."

"Yeah, it is. Night Squads are different with us Daylight Guards. They're one level above us and most of them are talented soldiers. If you want to know, Viglerne was not only a knife master, but a sniper, too. Much like you, a multiple weapon user."

"Wait, Richard is also a multiple weapon user?" asked Vandel.

"Orozco told me that Richard scored 10 bull's eyes consecutively. He was a sharp-shooter, and a rare one. He used bow and arrows."

"What?!"

"Well, to give you two the truth," said Richard interrupting them. "This IS the power inherited by my dragon friend. Do you have any books telling the story and the detail about dragons so I can tell you better?"

"Kijte had a story book about dragons."

"But, I can tell that's a children book from his age."

"He's 14 now."

"No! We need details here! Any library?"

"The library in this town is only one fifth of the capital's collection, so I bet it's hard to find even the tiniest detail to dragons. The oldest books are in the main library, though, and off limit to us."

"Damn...I can't tell my experience clearly without those, and of course without dragons, we can't feel it."

"But you can try at the library."

They both went out after taking three cups of coffee, with Kijte went out right after both males left. The young green draconian yawned once, and asked for a cereal, to which Cernelesh said, "Dear, it's out. Your father is buying it right now. He's a kind man, you know that?" to which she murmured, "I wish this little drake forgot about the cereal."
