The computer is blaring alarms as an automated voice screams alerts, the sight is nothing but random colors as the ships violently shakes.

"Warning: Anti-matter containment field failure immanent. Evacuate immediately."

I use the same switch for the drive but it explodes in sparks, the lightshow goes away but up ahead is a planet and it doesn't look like Earth. The craft enters the atmosphere, the shielding protects the craft and reveals a rather lush world, the ship hits a rocky hill causing the ship to spin, I brace myself and the ship crashes into the ground causing it to tumble and roll, my harness snaps causing me to hit the control console and start to tumble against the walls, the craft comes to a stop and I fall as sparks shoot across several panels and the floor which is now the right wall explodes in fire.

The computer says "Warning, anti-matter containment failure..." and the speakers fry themselves.

Even with the suit I let out a groan from being flung around like a pinball and feeling woozy, I look to see smoke leaving the vents and I stagger as I try to reach the ramp but I fall in a near instant. I hear loud banging and a voice calling out, I can't make out the words, all I can tell is that it's a womens voice.

I yell "PLEASE... HELP ME!" as I try to get up but my body won't let me for some reason.

Bangs start to sound as everything starts to fade, sunlight invades the craft but soon all I see is the dark. Light invades my eyes, I groan as I sit up, I look to see I'm laying in a bed, I glance around and it looks like a fairly normal room but the light sources look to be a type of crystal rather than a bulb and my suit is gone, though I still have my regular clothes and my shoes are off to the side.

I say "Where am I?" under my breath as I get up.

I hear the door start to open, I turn to see a sight I wasn't expecting, an anthromorphic cat enters the room, her eyes are green, white fur, long flowing pink hair and matching tail, she's wearing a black, skin-tight jumpsuit with silver armor on her head, shoulders, arms, legs, and torso, with several oval-shaped gemstones in her armor, including a larger gemstone embedded in her forehead armor.

The cat says with a light smile "It's nice to see your up, you've caused quite a stir."

I blink and I say "Am I in trouble?"

The feline lightly giggles and she says "Not at all, though there are some things you have to clear up."

I say "Well, for a start please allow me to introduce myself. My name's Adam." with a smile of my own.

"I'm Jenny." she says "It's nice to meet you Adam, please follow me."

I nod and I begin to follow Jenny, we walk down a few halls, catching glances from the other cats, I catch a wave of... paranoia I guess you can call it, some look more like they are trying to read me. I feel a cold wave hit the back of my neck, it's subtle yet it feels forceful to where I stop dead in my tracks, I I glance behind me to see an empty hall.

I hear Jenny "Are you okay?", I look to her then back at the hall and I say "Y-Yeah, I thought I felt a draft." as I rejoin her.

We both arrive to what looks like a throne room where more cats are present, though some bare this golden armor but it's the same pattern as Jenny's. Two cats come into view, the first is young looking as in close to Jenny's age, she has blue hair and a blue tail, striking deep blue she's slightly shorter than Jenny, her jumpsuit is a light purple, her vambraces, thigh wraps, and a headpiece are ruby red and have a gem embedded in them with gem on her head armor being slightly larger than Jenny's, she's also wearing a black armor neck piece with a tall collar, that is outlined in ruby red and has a single yellow gemstone placed over her breastbone.

The second cat is much older and more regal-looking, her build is somewhat tall and slender, she has blue hair raised up over her head, green eyes and white fur, she's baring a long robe with a wide collar, a large crown with a large gemstone, as well as one on her collar, just under her neck.

That's when it clicks, the ones in gold must be royal guards, so that means that these two...

Jenny nudges me a little, I say "Greetings your majesty, I am Adam, a human from Earth." trying to remain calm.

The elder cat speaks first "I am Queen Katrina.", she motions to the younger cat as she says "This is Princess Felicia.", she steps a little closer and she says "What brings you here young man?" with an inviting smile.

I blush as I realize just how ridiculous my story is going to sound to them, I embarrassingly sigh and I say "I know it's gonna sound weird but please here me out, it was an accident. My nations military was testing a prototype dropship and they wanted to show that anyone could fly it with no training, they gave me a suit after choosing me and I was able to make it to my planets orbit. As for me I hit the warp switch and now I'm here, all the data should be in the crafts black box."

Felicia smiles and she says "My, look at that blush." with an amused tone.

Jenny says "Felicia got you out just in time, your ship on the other hand is totaled."

Katrina says "Either way, welcome to Aldebaran, your more then welcome to stay here and get your barrings young man." with a light smile.

I say "Thank you your majesty." as I bow my head.

Felicia says "That being said, you picked quite a time to come to the Aniverse." with a more serious pitch and crossing her arms.

I say "Why? What's going on?" as I think 'Anivese? Makes sense I suppose.' all with me being curious.

Katrina says "A war is currently going on, one that is huge in scale.", she sighs and she says "The entire Aniverse to be more precise."

Jenny says "We know it's a lot for you to take in, which is why we discussed it while you were out."

Felicia says "As we already stated, your more than welcome to stay here until you figure out what you want to do, however you'll only be granted clearance to certain grounds."

I glance to each of them as I start to process all of this, anthromorphic aliens, different dimensions and a galactic war? It honestly sounds like those 80's cartoons that use to air. But one word sticks out... dimension, if that is true, that means I can't return to Earth at all. Overall I gladly accept their offer, which earned nods from the three ladies but I can tell for some of the others, they were less then enthusiastic. And that brings up another question... where are the men? I've only seen the female side of this species so far. I decide to not ask anything as I follow their lead, but Jenny stays close to me, for what I can't say why as I can only guess.

I'm treated to a pleasant meal and shown to my room which is amazing beyond belief just in scale, it's mostly white with those same crystal light things with a large bed and a computer present. In addition they take me to the seamstress who's in the castle to work out some clothes... thankfully they told me they can work out my underwear from my pants. After being escorted to my room and Jenny unlocking my computer so it has basic access, I decide to see what's going on in this Aniverse... the results are staggering. Queen Katrina wasn't kidding at all in terms of the scale of the ongoing conflict.

The two major sides from what I can tell are the United Animals Coalition and the Toad Empire, with the latter having gained some great territory. There's a video embedded in the entry and at first it's funny, showing a bunch of toads acting like a 20th century family with worthless rubbish for goods, however it shifts gears as it introduces Komplex, a type of a.i. that became their master and with it's influence they basically turned their planet into a forge world and are now trying to conquer the Aniverse. The former power looks looks to be a loose confederation of mammalian worlds to aid and protect eachother with a pretty good spread of their boarders, in terms of war materials it seems to fall on each world to supply their own forces.

I think 'I see, the stakes of this war couldn't be any higher.', I take a deep breath as I begin to process the information, I hear a knock at my door, I get up and answer, I see who it is and I say "Hi ladies." with a light smile.

Jenny says "Hi Adam, we've got a couple things for you." as the two felines lightly smile.

Felicia says "We brought you some new clothes, our seamstress wanted to make sure you had a few sets at least." and she lightly moves the box in her hands.

Jenny says "And the three of us had a discussion about your situation. May we come in?"

I say "Sure thing." keeping my smile as I step aside with a welcoming gesture.

The two cats enter and I close the door behind them, Felicia shows me the new clothes which are pants and long-sleeved shirts, plus some pj's, socks and undergarments. Jenny however has what looks to be a tablet of some sort, smiling as she taps a stylus a few times.

Jenny says "Given that your stuck here, we have to make sure you have proper paperwork to back you up. Which is why we're going fill in a UAC citizenship form so that you have some footing."

The three of us go over the form with the felines guiding me through it, we fill it in best to my knowledge, when it comes to the homeworld section though I'm not sure what to put, Jenny intervenes and types 'Earth(Formally), Aldebaran(Currently)' along with notes about the crash landing and it all ends with Jenny taking my picture with the device.

Felicia says "We'll make sure it gets pushed through." with a light smile.

Jenny says "And once it becomes official you may attend a university or seek a career, it's all up to you." with a light smile of her own.

Felicia says "Just ask and we'll provide as best we can."

I think and I decide to ask something they wouldn't likely expect "Are there any military academies?"

Both become instantly stunned, can't say I blame them, after all the last time I did anything military related I crashed.

Felicia crosses her arms as she says "And why do you want to fight exactly?"

I say "I looked information about the war Queen Katrina mentioned and it sounds like you need as many bodies as you can get."

Jenny says "It sounds fatalistic, more then anything else and any kind of training will take a long time to manage.", she puts a hand on my shoulder and she says "But is that what you really want to do? You can still enjoy things at your own leisure."

I say "I appreciate both of your concerns, but I am at that age and I am not much use in a fight right now, but I can be. All I'm asking for, is a fair shot."

The two look to each other, they look to be in silent conversation, though I do notice something and I'm not sure if it's because of the lighting but I swear that the jewels on their heads pieces faintly glow for a few moments.

Felicia puts on a more confused look as if she isn't sure, Jenny looks to me and she says "Think about it tonight and if you are still sure tomorrow morning, we'll go from there. Okay?"

I nod and I say "Okay, I'll think on it." with a light smile.

The two ladies say their good nights and I say mine, I shut down the computer and I leave myself to my own thoughts.

......

Meanwhile Jenny and Felicia enter what looks like a conference room of some kind with Katrina and a few others.

Jenny says "We have Adam's paperwork your majesty." as she presents it to her.

Katrina takes it and she says "Excellent, it'll be sent as soon as this meeting is over." as Felicia and Jenny take their seats.

The door to the room closes as Katrina's jewel glows brightly and multiple crystals light the room.

Katrina says "Artificers, I've called this meeting and given what's happened I think we all know the reason to put any doubts aside." and she motions to Jenny.

Jenny subtly nods and she says "Adam is far from a threat and while he is curious, he seems more concerned and frightened."

Felicia says "If I may interject, Adam wishes to fight against the Toad Empire and I'm curious what everyone thinks."

Katrina says "Did he give a reason to either of you?"

Felicia says "We don't know if he has a core reason, but he basically told us he wants to reinforce us and the U.A.C. as a whole." with Jenny nodding in acknowledgement.

The others speak their minds and almost all basically give an unsure answer about such a drastic decision, but they each weigh one of two conflicting opinions, the first is to have Adam remain a citizen and get a proper education while others back up that it's his choice.

Katrina looks to the last member of the Sisterhood present and she says "What do you think Audrey? Your the only one who hasn't said anything yet."

Audrey is a black cat, her suit is jade in color while her armor parts are of a brilliant bronze, her jewls are red along with her eyes and her hair and tail are white as snow.

Audrey says "I motion that it's up to him, however there is another development." catching everyone off guard.

Felicia says "Do tell sister."

Audrey says "He has a natural resistance to psionics."

Katrina says "Care to tell us how you figured that out?" with a raised eyebrow.

Audrey says "When Artificer Jenny first escorted him I decided to see if I could see his thoughts and somehow it failed."

Jenny thinks 'So that's why he turned around!' and she says "What could motivate you to try something so brash?"

Audrey says "I wanted to see if he was a threat to us, if something was hidden behind the crash."

Katrina says "It is a valid argument, but that was also a huge risk."

Felicia says "So, what's the verdict?" with a curious look.

Katrina says "Either way, he'll be restricted because he's an outsider. If he remains simply a citizen he could be drafted if the war gets worse or he can join in on basic training of a particular field and work his way up."

Jenny says "There are courses for sure that we offer that don't involve our secrets at all, I suggest he trains here if he goes that route to prevent a major incident."

The meeting ultimately becomes adjourned, with everything still up in the air. Jenny passes by the humans door, she glances to it unsure if she should check on him or not, she decides to let him rest and heads to her room. She gets her things ready as she's heading out tomorrow due to her shore-leave expiring, but she wonders how the human will make out.

The next day comes around and Adam decides to go through with military training, specifically for the marines. His lack in strength and dexterity are notable but endurance-wise can be workable, but he passes the written portion and a basic tactic plan.

My point of view....

Jenny approaches me with her arms behind her back and she says "I have a surprise for you." with a light smile.

She presents me with a certificate, I take it with a smile of my own and it says that I passed but there are a few other pappers.

Jenny says "Just practice some exercises to build your strength up and study."

I say "Aye aye." keeping my smile.

Jenny says "Also Adam, there are some people I want you to meet.", she looks behind her and waves someone over.

A group comes over, the first is a green rabbit with purplish-pink eyes wearing what looks to be a red captains uniform with a holstered pistol. The next is a four arm duck who looks to only have one eye as his left has a red eye patch and he's wearing an orange uniform with a red harness and boots. Another is a small one eyed android of lanky grey plates. The one after that is kind of awkward looking as it looks to be covered in armor but the being inside seems to be struggling inside of it as the being seems to be too small for it. The last being looks to be a a baboon of some sort, wearing rather basic armor but heavy armor.

Jenny says "Adam, these are my crew mates and my commanding officer."

The rabbit comes over to me as he says "I'm Captain Bucky O'Hare and commander of the Righteous Indignation."

I say "I'm Adam, it's nice to meet you captain." with a quick salute.

Bucky says "When Jenny said their was another human in the Aniverse, I didn't know what to think."

I say "Another human?" puzzled.

Bucky looks to the one in awkward armor and nods, the person takes the helmet off, revealing it to be human of younger age with blonde hair, blue eyes and glasses.

Bucky says "This is Willy, he's our engineer. I know he's only a teenager but looks can be deceiving."

I'm honestly dumbstruck, but I welcome this, knowing another human is here could help me answer a few questions at least.

I say "It's nice to meet you." as I extend my hand out.

Willy shakes my hand and he says "It's nice to meet you too." with a light smile.

Bucky says "And I hear you want to be a marine, I think you'll do fine and if you pass I'll have a slot open, Jenny vouched for you."

Jenny says "We'll be back to visit soon to check on your progress and I made sure your comm device has the transmission codes for the Righteous Indignation and vice versa." with a light smile.

Willy says "Adam if I may ask, what year are you from? Jenny sent us pictures of the armor and it's nothing like what the military was using where I'm from."

I say "It's 2013 where I'm from... what year is it where your from?"

Willy says "1985, so either your from the future or a different Earth."

This theory hurts my brain a bit but it does make some sense.

Bucky says "Allow me to introduce the rest of the crew."

The introductions go as follows, the ducks name is Deadeye who talks with a pirate accent, the robots name is Blinky and the baboons name is Bruiser and sadly there really isn't much time to get aquanted as they inform me they have to deploy but they said they'll see me later and that they wish me luck. A couple months pass, but thanks to the comms I keep in touch with them and they check on me here and there as I start to breakthrough in my training and what education I'm provided. In terms of sheer basics, I figure learning some things about being a mechanic and electronics would go a long way, plus given what I learned in school it helped me learn a little faster and my study from science assisted in my understanding of it, though how far that'll go I'm not sure.

But learning the skill requirements of the marines was much harder, for one being athletic was never my strong suit but with some quick workouts I'm slowing getting there... as in very slowly. In terms of using a combat suit the Aldebaren's outfitted my odst suit to be better help me learn the basics and I was able to learn a few tricks, plus I picked up some tactics along the way and with the strategies I already know, I can think of a few combinations. Heavy weapons training was kind of a nightmare, given my strength I can't hold onto and maintain the machine guns or anything really heavy but launchers and throwers for the most part are fine which is how I passed that but barely. In terms of more general weaponry I learn the basics but I ended up favoring the more traditional slug throwers which earned some teasing but after a while I started get congrats over it as it came more natural to me as oppose to energy weapons. And lastly stealth, a skill I think'll come in handy if kind of limited.

Now we come to today, I'm onboard a training frigate affiliated with the U.A.C. to help come to grasp some of the finer skills, I'm working on assembling an assault pistol with a fresh chainaxe laying nearby. I sigh as I put the last piece into place, that's the fifth time I've stripped this thing down and put it back together but I can't seem to get the process down faster, suddenly an alert comes over the speakers and the ship rocks like an earthquake, I quickly go to look out a view port, a ship is closing in but it looks carrier-sized and it looks like a giant toad. I look over to see a ship dropping out of hyperspace, it's the Righteous Indignation and what look to be fighters start to enguage them. I run to the armory with the pistol and axe to see that gear is scattered but many people are getting their gear on, I quickly get my suit on which has a dark blue camo pattern on it, I load an extended mag into my pistol and load up on ammo.

The ship rocks again and we begin to get to our stations as the captain says over the comm "All hands, report to your designated area and prepare for boarders! We're going to try to enter hyperspace!"

The ship rocks again, this time sparks erupt from some lights and panels, at this rate I doubt we'll be able to do that, even with help.

I get an idea, I work my comms and I say "Sir, permission to use the boardering pod."

The captain says "For what purpose cadet?"

I say "If I can board the enemy ship, I can disable their main guns."

The captain says "The training pod only has one seat, you'll be on your own."

I say "I'm aware of that sir, at the very least I can distract them, just get the others out of here."

I don't hear anything for a few seconds and I hear "Permission granted, good luck marine."

I run down to the boarding pod, it's a training version that typically holds three to four people but refits were being done to it though it is still void worthy. I hop in and begin the launch procedures, I strap myself and I feel the pod move into position.

I think 'Trial by fire... classic.'
