In the previous chapter Spyro and Cynder were attacked by some strange creatures in the forest. They headed back to the temple and told the others about the creatures and the crystal they had. Ignitus then told them the crystal can be used to revive the dark master. With this news they asked Galinoth for help. They tracked the creatures to a network of caves to the north. After exploring the caves they cam across a caver filled with the vile creatures. And in the centre of the cavern was the crystal. But before Galinoth got close, a dark form began to appear. The dark master had returned.

Chapter 10: The Darkmasters plan

The Darkmaster had anticipated that he would strike for his heart. With frightening speed he launched a punch at Galinoth and hit him square on the chest. This sent him flying half way across the cavern. To the surprise of the Darkmaster, Galinoth just got back up again.

"Is that the best you got?" Galinoth sneered.

"Im just getting started!" The dark master bellowed.

They began to circle each other waiting for an opening. When Galinoth found one he dove forward and ripped the talon across one of the Darkmasters wings. In a bellow of rage and pain the Darkmaster swiped his tail at Galinoth which hit him in the face causing a great gash to appear on his left cheek. This healed fast.

The dark master then used his magic to form a dark energy ball and hurled it at Galinoth. To Spyro and Cynders amazement Galinoth just stood there and let it hit him. There was no sound from the impact save a thud. Even the Darkmaster seemed surprised to see Galinoth standing after a hit like that.

"Well, it's not often that someone survives my magic." The Darkmaster said.

"Well, you don't come across an avatar everyday now do you." Galinoth retorted.

They began to circle each other again. But this time the Darkmaster struck first, driving his talons at Galinoth and penetrating his armour. This caused Galinoth to bellow in rage and pain. The Darkmaster then used his other talons to rip across Galinoth's back. This too got a bellow of pain. Galinoth then crumpled to the floor.

Then the Darkmaster suddenly jerked his head around to where Cynder and Spyro were hiding.

"Well, if it isn't Spyro and Cynder." He said in a malicious voice.

He spread his wings and flew off to where they were hiding.

"RUN!" Spyro bellowed.

Cynder needed no encouragement. She ran the fastest that she could but the Darkmaster had caught up with them and landed in front of them.

"Cynder get behind me." Spyro ordered.

"Ha....ha....ha what do you think you can do, im much stronger then last time!" The Darkmaster bellowed.

With a flick of his claw he sent spyro flying across the floor and smashed him against a wall. His eyes then turned to Cynder.

"And for betraying me, you shall suffer a more painful death then your mate shall!" The Darkmaster screeched.

He raised his claw to strike Cynder down.

"NO!" Galinoth bellowed as he barrelled into the Darkmasters chest.

He sent them flying over the cliff. The battle would continue in the sky. Galinoth raised his storm bolter and let loose a flurry of shots off at the Darkmasters head. He avoided them easily but he didn't realise it was a distraction. He turned his head too late as the Talon had pierced his body in the mid-waist area all the way through his back and out again.

With rage filled eyes he hit Galinoth with all he had. Even with his armour absorbing most of the blows, they made him start to fall to the ground. With a sickening thud he had hit the ground. Spyro and Cynder were there to try and help but he pushed them away.

"Run." Galinoth said.

"We can't leave you." Whimpered Cynder.

"RUN!" he bellowed.

They began to run when the Darkmaster tried to capture them. Galinoth muttered something and the Darkmaster froze where he was.

"What kind of magic is this?" The Darkmaster bellowed.

"My kind." Galinoth replied.

Then Galinoth heard a familiar sound. It was a raptor firing on full auto. Shots peppered the Darkmaster all over his body and he too collapsed to the ground but he got up quickly.

"Galinoth!" Naomi shouted.

"I'll be fine." He replied.

"Well this is a site for sore eyes." The Darkmaster said.

He whipped his tail and hit Naomi away.

"No one can stop me anymore, for I am too powerful for anyone on this pathetic world!" He bellowed triumphantly.

He pinned Galinoth to the floor with his big claws and then lowered his head to whisper something to Galinoth.

"First im going to destroy all of the dragons, then the rest of the world will crumble." The dark master whispered.

Then Galinoth blacked out as the Darkmaster hit him in the side of the head.

Spyro and Cynder had made it back to the temple and rushed to warn the others about what had happened. They found the elders in the dojo talking. They told them about everything.

"He really has returned?" Volteer asked. The fear was evident in his voice.

"I'm afraid so." Cynder replied.

"We must stop him before he gets back his full strength." Terrador said.

"I'm afraid that's not possible." Said an ominous voice.

"He's here!" Spyro bellowed.

The roof of the dojo was ripped asunder as the Darkmaster entered the temple.

"It's been a long time since I last stepped foot in here." He said.

Terrador lunged at him. But it was a futile gesture as the Darkmaster just flicked his claw and sent Terrador sprawling across the floor.

"And now for the rest of you!" He bellowed.

But before he could finish his attack a storm bolter round hit him on the back and tore and big piece of the things flesh from it.

"I don't think so!" Sneered Galinoth.

"I thought I put you down for longer, oh well." The Darkmaster said.

He turned quickly and struck out at Galinoth. But with amazing speed, Galinoth dodged the attack and threw a vicious right hook to the jaw of the Darkmaster. He reeled at the force of the attack. But before he could regain his composure Galinoth laid down a barrage of punches and kicks that would have killed any normal being.

But the energy within the Darkmaster healed his wounds. Then he lashed out at Galinoth and missed again. At this opening Galinoth swung for the Darkmasters head again and connected with his skull, and breaking it in several places.

"You give up?" Asked Galinoth

The Darkmaster got up and put all his energy into the most devastating blast of dark energy he could. Galinoth didn't have enough time to move out of the way and was caught in the deadly ball of darkness. There was a terrible scream of pain as it finally hit him full on. When the energy had dissipated, Galinoth was on the floor and the Darkmaster was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh man, that hurt like hell." Galinoth said.

"How are you even alive after that?" Cynder asked.

"I wish I could answer but I don't know." He replied.

"The Darkmaster put all of his force behind that, he must be desperate." Volteer said.

"No, he is not at full strength yet, he used it as a distraction to escape us, even though he wasn't at full strength that bolt of darkness should have killed me." Galinoth replied.

"What does he want to do?" Cyril asked.

"He wants to destroy all the dragons first, after that he will destroy everything else." Galinoth answered.

Galinoth looked around for his mate. He found here at the entrance of the dojo. She was in shock after witnessing the battle.

"Naomi, are you unharmed?" Galinoth asked. He was concerned for his mate as the Darkmaster hit her with a bit of force back in the forest.

"A few cuts and bruises, nothing serious." She replied.

"It's likely he will attack again." Volteer said.

"I agree we must prepare for anything." Ignitus said.

"Is it all right if I teach Spyro and Cynder some of our combat techniques?" Galinoth asked.

"Of course, we will need all the help we can get." Ignitus replied.
