#2 of Moutain Trip

Day Two

I slowly opened my eyes, I heard my name called again.

"John, wakie wakie John," I head.

I sat up quickly and looked around, the sun was shining in through the window next to my bed. Koda was standing in the doorway looking at me. He rolled his eyes and stepped back into the living room. I yawned and stood up, then my heart dropped and I quickly ran into the living room.

"Did I fall asleep? Like all night?" I asked.

"Yep, slept like a baby, and talking about me missing everything, you should have seen the sky..." Koda said.

"Awww, why didn't you wake me up?" I asked

"Because, one you should see your face right now," Koda said grinning, "And two I didn't stay up to see it either. Would have woke you up if I did and you know it."

"You- I'll get you," I said and pounced onto him, him sitting on the couch.

He yelped and fell off the couch, me on his back. He squirmed around, catching me off balance and flipped me off his back. He laughed and jumped onto me, pinning my arms to the ground. I felt a faint blush across my cheeks as I looked up at him, his grin, his eyes. I wished he would kiss me.

"You are a silly dragon you know that," Koda said smiling.

"Yeah well," I said blushing more.

"Come on now, get dressed and I'll get some food ready, don't want to be late getting down to the other cabin," He said rolling off of me and walking off.

I watched him walk away for a moment before I got up. I walked back into the bed room and pulled out a change of clothes, a Disturbed T-shirt, a leather jacket, and some blue jeans. I walked into the kitchen to find Koda standing and fixing a couple of sandwiches. I grinned a little to myself and snuck up behind him and with both of my paw I poked into both of his sides. He let out a small yelp and turned around slowly. He had a big grin on his face, I could tell he was trying to hide it but all I could do was giggle and back away some.

"I guess you don't want your food?" He asked opening a window, letting a blast of cold air in.

"I don't know, never all that hungry in the morning," I said giggling more.

"Fine I'll eat yours as well," He said placing both of the plates onto the small table.

"That's fine with me, I'll just have a little bit of water," I said grabbing a water bottle from the pack on the ground.

"Why don't you ever drink those cold?" Koda asked me.

"Don't like them too cold, I like them just the right temperature, much easier to drink when their warmer, at least for me," I told him and opened the bottle taking a big gulp from it.

"Well, you're weird," Koda said with a laugh.

"Why thank you, I try," I said giggling.

"I can tell," Koda said rolling his eyes.

"Eat fast now, we have.." I said glancing at my watch, "thirty minutes till we have to leave,"

"Yeah yeah," He said and began to munch down.

I watched him for a moment then looked out the window at the mountains. They looked even better than before. I became lost in my thoughts. Snow had started to fall, with all the white it was hard to tell the skies were cloudy, they blended in with the snow on the ground. I watched the snow falling for what felt like forever. The whole time I thought of Koda, wanting to be in his arms, wishing he would kiss me. What better of a place to have my first kiss? On the side of a mountain at night with an amazing view of the stars.

With that thought I let out a sigh, apparently Koda had already gotten ready to leave as I was staring out the windows. He had also been standing behind me, and finally decided to put his paw on my should casing me to jump, almost falling from my seat. I looked up and back at him, he had the same goofy smile.

"What cha thinking about there?" He asked.

"Um, nothing," I said blushing some.

"Looks like nothing," He said with a small laugh, "time to go."

I nodded faintly and got up. We walked out of the cabin and hiked back down the mountain, much easier back down to the cabin then up to ours. We walked up and knocked on the door, almost instantly Savage answered and motioned us to come inside. We walked into the warm air, all the kids were getting ready, pulling on jackets and boots. I leaned against the door frame as Savage began to talk about the hike. It was going to be three hours out, an hour of listing to him talk, thirty minute lunch then three hours back here for dinner. After that I zoned out, glancing at Koda every now and again. He made me feel in a way that is still hard to explain, it just brought a smile to my face to have him in the same room with me.

"Ok, understand everything?" Savage asked.

"Yes sir," The class responded all at once.

"Good, now let's get going," He said and walked out the door.

Koda and I followed him out as did the rest of the class. We hung behind the rest of the class on the hike, talking some as we took in the surroundings. It was beautiful, mountains, snow-covered forests, and it was even snowing. And I was still with the most amazing person in the world, the only way it could be better if I was with, with him.

"Hey...John," Koda said

"Yeah?" I asked looking at him.

"Thanks for getting me to come out here with you," He said smiling.

"N-no problem, I doubt I would have come if you didn't," I said blushing a bit and retirning the smile.

"Why not? It's amazing here," He said tilting his head at me.

"Y-yeah it is, but it wouldn't be the same without..." I paused looking a good word, "a good friend here with me."

"Oh, well, still thank you," He said and stopped for a moment, I stopped next to him.

He looked forward and then back to me. He wrapped me up in a big hug. My heart skipped a beat. It took me a moment, but my arms found their way to hug him back. He let out a small murr before letting go of me, I felt a deep blush on my face, and I knew it showed up on my black scales.

"Come on we should hurry before Savage comes looking," Koda said, I nodded slightly, still in a state of happy-shock.

I followed behind Koda, we were still far behind the rest of them, but in eye distance. We stopped about an hour and a half into the hike at a large overhang. It over looked a different area, a long ways away I could see what looked like a small city. After a few minutes of letting everyone rest we moved on. Just a lot of Savage talking about nature and me and Koda talking about random stuff from video games to food, which at that point I was really hungry.

"I told you to eat this morning," Koda said.

"Huh?" I asked.

"I can hear your stomach," He said laughing.

"Oh, right," I said blushing a bit and giggling some.

"What's with the always blushing?" He asked me tilting his head.

"Um, I don't know," I said blushing more

"Come on, what does mister dragon have to be embarrassed about?"

"N-nothing,"

"Well, I wonder how red you can get,"

"I blush easily, n-not my fault,"

"No, but its cute," He said, "Uh, well I'm sure a girl would find it cute,"

"Uh, y-yeah," I said blushing, I looked at him, he was looking at the ground some, a small blush on his face as well, "n-now your blushing."

"Shush," He said and I let out a small giggle.

We walked in mostly silence after that. After another hour and a half we made it to the small building that we were hiking to. It was some kind of study hall or something, I didn't catch what Savage had said. We went inside, and for nearly an hour listened to him talk about nature, how the mountains were formed, all that kind of stuff. But Koda and I had sat at the back, I was slightly behind him. So I could look at him without him noticing. The whole time I watched him, at one point his paw dropped down beside his chair, next to where my paws were in my lap. I wished I could hold paws with him.

Soon the lesson was over and we were able to get food. Apparently, Savage had arranged for some KFC and other fast food places to be ordered here. I didn't think there were any of them anywhere near here. Me and Koda took our plates outside to eat. Sitting on a rock overlooking a forest we ate in silence. Finally I finished up and he took our plates inside.

"I wish I could tell you this, but I love you Koda," I said under my breath when he went inside.

After a moment I heard him walk back over, I didn't even hear the door open or close, bust have been deep in thought. I looked up at him as he sat down. He smiled at me and looked out over the forest.

"It's really amazing out here," I said looking with him.

"Yeah, again thank you for getting me to come." He said.

"I wouldn't want to go without you," I said and looked at him.

"You said that silly," He said with a laugh.

"Y-yeah I know," I said blushing slightly.

"Well I guess if it were not for you, we would be at home watching TV or playing games," He said and looked at me, "not enjoying this amazing view," He smiled.

"Uh, y-yeah heh," I said blushing more and looked out over the forest.

I really liked him, but even having known him for so long my shyness still kicked in. I felt my paws shaking some, and even in the cold weather I felt hot. After a while Savage and the rest of the class came out.

"Ok, everyone, time to head back, and I hope you had your fill, the rest of the food is going to be Savage cooked," He said alound.

The hike back to the cabin was very boring. Nothing interesting happened, and Koda and I walked in silence. When we got back to the cabin, Koda asked if we could eat our dinner back at our cabin, Savage agreed. The walk back up to our cabin was even more awkward, we still didn't talk. I was afraid he didn't want to talk, or was deep in thought so I didn't say anything. We made it to the cabin when he finally said something.

"Sorry I wasn't talking, I...was thinking a lot," He said with a small smile, "Want me to make some food?"

"Y-yeah that'd be nice," I said smiling back.

"What do you want?" He asked.

"Uh, anything with meat is fine with me," I said with a smile.

"Mk, I'll fix a couple of sandwiches I guess, easy enough," He said and went into the kitchen.

I walked out onto the balcony and looked out over the valley. The skies were starting to clear up a bit, I hoped they cleared out before it got dark. I let out a soft sigh and stared off. I heard foot steps behind me and turned as Koda opened the door.

"Come on in, we can look at the stars when it gets dark, food time now," He said smiling.

"Ok," I said and walked in.

We ate, talked a little, then he asked to sit on the couch for a bit. I agreed and we sat there talking about random things some more. The skies were starting to get dark, and my hear started to pick up speed as I got excited to see the stars.

"Yeah so..John there's something I want to tell you," Koda said.

"Wait, can it wait for a minute? I want to see the stars now," I said standing up.

"Y-yeah sure," He said and stood next to me.

I quickly walked outside, the skies had cleared out, and the sun had just gone down. At first a few stars were visable, then as the sun went farther and farther away, more and more stars came out. Soon, the arm of the Milky Way was visable. People say breath taking all the time, but this, this is one thing that just from looks had taken my breath away. My jaw had dropped as I looked.

"It is quite amazing," Koda said, "But, not as amazing as...another view I have seen today,"

"really? What could be better than this?" I asked without looking away.

"Well," He started. I had forgotten about my paws at my side, until I felt his paw warp around one of mine, I nearly jumped and looked at him. He had a soft smile and a hint of red in his cheeks. His eyes reflected the stars behind me. "Those stars are nice, but, nowhere as nice as you, your scales in the sunlight, your eyes when they brighten, or your cheeks when you blush."

I didn't know what to say, and I didn't have to say anything, he cupped my cheek in his paw and kissed my other cheek then turned to look at the stars. I felt my cheeks burning, I turned back to look up at the stars, his paw still holding mine. My tail slowly wrapped around his leg, I didn't want the moment to end.

Sadly it had to. He turned back to me, told me it was time for bed that we didn't need to stay up too late. He walked me back to my bed, I laid down and curled up, he tucked me in and gave me another kiss on my cheek. He left the room, I saw him lay on the couch before he blew out the last of the lights. I let out a happy sigh, he had kissed me. Maybe not on the lips but it was something. And he held my hand. So much was going through my mind, most of them was me wishing he would get up and lay down with me. I closed my eyes, and dreamt. Dreamt of him lying in my bed and holding me close to him. My head resting on his chest and listing to his heartbeat.
