The Adventures of Nall Wolf

Chapter 3: The Discovery

This morning, Nall woke up to the song "I'm Blue" by Eifel 65 while feeling like crap. "Why is this song even on my list..." he growled while grabbing his remote and changing it to "Somewhere In Between" by Hawthorne Heights. He decided to just lie there and listen to the music since he really didn't feel like getting up. As the time passed, he thought about how boring his life has been lately, and he once again wished for change.

He finally decided to get up around 10 AM. As soon as he sat up, his head started throbbing. "Oh yay, I feel like crap AND I have a headache..." he said as he slipped into some shorts. He padded off to the bathroom as he did every morning, tail drooping behind him. Before heading back to his room, he took some Advil in hope that it would work fast, then he climbed back on his bed and curled up.

He got up a few hours later, still feeling like crap, but at least the headache was gone. He made himself a sandwich and sat down to surf the web and chat a bit. As he bit into the sandwich, some mayo slipped out and landed in his chest fur. "Damn..." He sat the sandwich down and went to the bathroom to clean up.

He quickly got back and finished his sandwich and attempted to connect to the Internet. He was unfortunately stuck with dial-up since Furkins was in the middle of nowhere, his only other options were satellite or 3G, both of which were out of his price range. As he listened to the PC tower in his closet dial the number, he noticed something odd. There was an awful lot more static in the noise. His worries were confirmed when the connection failed.

He got up to go get the landline phone, tail twitching in annoyance the whole way. He put it up to his ear and sure enough, the dial tone had been replaced with static, the phone line was on the fritz again...

"Guess this means no Internet today..." Nall said with a sigh, today was going to be one of those bad days, he just had that feeling. His ears and tail dropped as he walked through the house.

_ "Maybe I could spend some time outside?"_ He looked out the front window. Rain. "That's just perfect..." He could get some work done, but he didn't like to work when he felt like this. He decided to head back to his room and watch some TV.

Before long, his parents were back home from work. As soon as his Mom walked in the door, she was griping at him for not doing anything today.

"Did you empty the dishwasher?" she said.

"No, I didn't know it needed to be emptied." replied Nall.

"I told you that this morning before I left!" Mom said, annoyed.

"No you didn't, at least I don't remember it if you did." Nall was trying to remember.

"Oh, "you don't remember" huh?" she said in a sarcastic tone.

"No, I don't remember. That's what happens when you tell something to someone who's HALF ASLEEP!" Nall was starting to get angry now. But his Mom wasn't about to give up.

"All I asked you to do was empty the dishwasher, and you couldn't even do that! Now you're yelling at me for no reason!"

"I DON'T REMEMBER ANYTHING FROM THIS MORNING MOTHER!" Nall stormed out of the front room and headed for his room. As he entered his room, he slammed his door behind him.

He thought he heard something crack when he slammed the door, but he was too pissed off to think about it. He sat down to watch some more TV to calm his nerves and drank some water from a glass he got earlier.

After a few hours, he was feeling calmer and he had run out of water. He got up to go to the kitchen to get some more. As he approached his door, he noticed the cracks. His bedroom door was splintered along the edges, like someone took a sledge hammer to it...

"What... the hell...?" Nall said as he picked at some of them. He carefully opened the door to find the door jam had similar cracking where the door would hit it, the only thing that it could have been was the slamming...

"But... I wasn't even trying to slam it that hard..." Nall was officially confused. Then he remembered the feeling he had yesterday on the walk home from the ditch, like he was lighter, like it was easier to walk. He picked up a multi-weight dumbbell he had in his room, it was set to 10lb. It felt so light he almost fell backwards from over compensating.

"I must be going crazy. There's no other explanation!" Nall was laughing uncontrollably. It's not normal to splinter doors without even trying, It's not normal to have a 10lb dumbbell feel like a feather, yet that is what was happening to him. He bumped the dumbbell up to 25lb, the max. It felt like the weight of a golf ball.

Nall was laughing maniacally now, tossing the 25lb dumbbell up in the air and catching it with ease like it was nothing. The shock of it all was getting to him. After a while he finally calmed down and started to think clearly.

"Okay, either this is some crazy dream, or I somehow gained tons of strength... Or I've just gone insane and I'm imagining the whole thing! No... I can't be insane, it must be a dream. But what if it isn't?" He kept on talking to himself about it for a while, until he got tired and decided to go to bed.

"Maybe I won't be so crazy in the morning..." he said as he started playing the song "Anywhere But Here" and stripped down. "But then again..." he crawled into bed and got comfy. "...it would be awesome..."
