#9 of King

"Okay so let me see if I got this straight so far," Nixi was standing in Brandon's and Tentra's room, her swords already strapped to her back, with Drake standing beside her, his double edge axe on his waist. The wingless dragon, having lost them in battle long ago, wore her Guardian armor, sliver with the marking of her clan on the chest plate, her eyes closed until she reopened them. "You won't allow a full fledge army to go and attack the humans, but you want yourself, me, and Drake to go along with you and try and kill the human king!?"

"That pretty much covers it," answered her newly king.

"Are you out of your mind!?" she screeched. "Do you have any idea how slim our chances are if we go though with this plan, I mean, yes you are the second Legend Child, half human half dragon with powerful magic, and then that little thing with the weird power you wield when the human came, but still; our chances are still slim!"

"I have to agree with her on that," Drake answered looking at Brandon. "I mean, come on, it's like a suicide mission."

"Listen," the half human spoke. "We all know that when it was time for the humans to pick their new king, they didn't attack, they couldn't even make the right plan for an attack." He turned and looked outside his window, the one he had grown up in. while the servants were busy removing his father old things and putting them to rest in front of a statute in the grand hall with the kings before him, Brandon would use his room until all was done. "If we can kill the human king, this will leave them without a leader, this will be the best chance for an attack to make them surrender!"

"But still," Answered Drake. "Three to hundreds? I don't like those odds."

"There isn't going to be three," The three turned to the door to see both Tentra and Zel standing there. Tentra with the same dagger she wore in case she was attack, and Zel, wearing a full white gowned that matched her scales.

"You are not going anywhere without me!" cried Tentra walking up and poking Brandon in the chest. "I've lost my mother, and never knew my father, so you are the only family I have left; you go, I go!"

"And you need someone who is a master of healing," Zel answered. "I owe it to your father, since I could not be there to save him. I raised you because I was your nanny, but you are like a son to me, and as your acting mother, I will keep you safe from any danger I can!"

"Tentra...Zel..." Brandon muttered looking down as Zel walked up and held his chin up.

"Brandon, I know you want to stop the king, without fully killing off the human kind, but if you're doing a sneaky mission, you need all the short help you can get!"

"And with me knowing a few Shadow spells, it can greatly help!" Tentra answered moving up. "Plus...I just don't want to be worrying about you Brandon, at least when I'm with you, I know you're safe from harms way."

"Alright," he answered looking at the faces before him. "Alright, we will all go, I think we better head out tonight though, I know the guards will not allow us to leave in the day time, so well have to sneak, we'll meet north of the outside gate when the moon is nigh high." They all nodded in agreement by this, each leaving to prepare themselves for the road at hand.

They all stayed until they packed as much as they could carry, Brandon had given up his father old golden armor and sword for his new one. His armor shone all white, the plate not as big as his father, but small enough for him to move freely. The shoulder part held deep blue color, the legging broke apart so that he could run or jump, white cloth hanging slightly down to his leg plate. His sword at first he wanted to make it the same large one he always used, but gave that up long ago, now in his and Tentra's new room along with his father sword and armor. This sword was about as long as a norm sword would, a little wider but much like a sword all the same. The hilt was a deep blue, matching the gloves that he wore; the guard would bend downward so that on the side, the blade of his foes that would come, would just slide right off. (Think of the Master Sword hilt from Legend of Zelda, it doesn't go up, but down.) Already Nixi and Drake were waiting outside the city gate, having told the guards that all that were going with them, it was just for a recon mission of sorts. Brandon, not wanting Tentra to go unprotected, asked Drake to watch out for her more then him, seeing how Nixi was and still is his Guardian. Like he said, they left at night, more around dusk as Zel left with Tentra. The white dragoness wearing a full white robe, a robe Brandon always saw her wear when she was teaching him, and a long metal staff in his paws, while Tentra wore just light armor, like a scout would.

"Are we all ready?" asked Brandon as each nodded their heads. "We're going to have to go back to the docks," he answered looking back at the castle once to see if anyone followed them. "It's the closest dock around, this time though; I think we're going to have to sneak."

"Whys that?" asked Drake as Brandon sighed crossing his arms.

"Just think, Sage and Terra, that human that attacked us, know what I look like, if they killed my father because he was king, they'll no doubt come after me as well so that the time of dragons and drakes kings will come to an end!"

"He is right Drake," answered Zel. "There was a time, hundreds of years ago a king of ours were killed, he didn't have any songs with his mate, but he was known to have many of the servants lay with him. Luckily, one of the servants had a child with him, so the bloodline still went on."

"You know, this whole, kill the king thing is really weird now I think about it," Answered Drake with the shake of his head.

"It's just the way things are Drake," Nixi answered. "Now let's go, we have ground to cover."

"So you won't mind two others to travel with you?"

All heads snapped to the left to see a human that Brandon and Tentra hadn't thought they seen in a while. Mar, standing there wearing a long black robe, with a smile on his face, he didn't look as weak as when the two last saw him, in fact, he looked much stronger. Nixi and Drake were at once holding their steels, while Zel got ready for magic as Brandon stopped them by holding his arms out.

"Whoa, whoa, it's alright, he's my uncle!" Zel frowned then looked closer sighing and dropping her magic.

"He's right," she told them. "That's Mar, Alice's brother." Drake and Nixi slowly lowered their weapons as both Brandon and Tentra made their way over to the human, as Mar smiled.

"It's good to see you two again," he answered looking at them each, and then his smile melted to a small frown. "I've heard what happened to Zaptor...I'm truly sorry." Everyone was silent for a while until Nixi; still eyeing the human who was her king's uncle spoke up.

"And how did you know of the late king death human?" she hissed slightly. Mar looked up toward her then back to Brandon and Tentra.

"Have any of you heard of the Shadow Clan?"

"I heard stories," Zel answered. "From what I heard, dragons, drakes, and at few times humans were part of the group, it was founded around the first year of the human and dragon drake war. They tried to keep the peace between the three races, so when any word of something big happening, that could kill the other two or all three; they would step in to stop."

"That's right," Answered Mar. "But this is no story, but true, that village I said I was staying in, is in fact the location of the Shadow Clan."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Drake tried waving his hands around. "Why tell us this now, I mean, if you are part of the Shadow Clan as you say, shouldn't you be helping us now?"

"We do not have the right proof," another being walked out beside Mar as if from no where, a dragoness; her scales all black, so black that if it wasn't for the fact that they knew where she was, they no doubt would've seen her. Her eyes a deep crimson red, her wings tucked behind her. She wore only light clothing, all black with what seemed to be a blood like mark over where her heart would be, the mark of the Clan.

"Everyone," Mar spoke. "This is my mate Lenora," the dragoness smiled and bowed her head lightly.

"A pleasure," she spoke, around her back stung a bow, looking to be made of all metal, even the string part, making it look very strong. "My mate have told me much of you Brandon, from the little time he saw you though, you do look much like your mother though."

"You knew my mother?" he asked as the dragoness nodded once more.

"Years before she even started to go to see your father, she was with our group, we sensed her pure heart, and how she wanted to try and stop this war. In fact, it was our group that allowed her a way to be close to your father, we just never knew that they would become...so close as you may know." She smiled softly as Brandon smiled back.

"We were on our way toward the docks," Mar answered. "It seemed there something going on."

"What do you mean?" asked Zel moving closer.

"We don't know," Lenora spoke looking away as if the answer would come to her. "One of our spies hasn't messaged us today, which he was to do. So we are going there now to see what's what, as the humans say." She smirked and moved closer a bit. "And you are no doubt going the same way, are you not?"

"We are," Nixi answered moving closer until she was face to face with the dragoness. "And listen to me well, you harm the King in anyway, for I don't believe you at all, I will cut your wings off and shove them down your throat!" Lenora just slightly laughed as Mar sighed shaking his head.

"And plus, this will give me time to keep training Tentra, if you'll allow me of course."

"Sure," she answered. "I already know a few things from the scroll you gave me as well, you know making shadow whips to attack my foes, disappear into shadows and ambush people, and even make my body into shadow!"

"Ah," he laughed. "I remember that one, I'm surprised you able to use that already."

"Is it hard?"

"Very," he answered.

"Look, I don't mean to sound rude," answered Zel as everyone looked toward her. 'But we are wasting time."

"True," answered Mar. "Let us be off and see what's what."

"Told you," Lenora spoke as he only rolled his eyes.

None were prepared to see what they saw. The last time Brandon, Tentra, Nixi, and Drake were here, the dock was a little messy because of the humans that captured it, but now; it was worse. As the group slowly made their way in, they were met with a gruesome scene of blood and bodies and body parts all around. Tentra looked away and vomit on the ground adding to the smell as the homes were torn down, flatten almost and charred. Brandon held his mate closer as she shuddered from her sickness she felt as he looked around in anger. His promise to the children rushing back, and now he knew, he could never keep it. Zel went to each of the bodies that still had all parts on them, seeing if any could be saved, when she went to a dragon, which was by a human, the human arm shot out and grabbed her arm as she screamed. She was about to shot a fire spell at the human, when the black dragoness stop her.

"This is the one we spoke of," she answered as Zel, with shaking arms, nodded as the human gasped. His hair, gone, brunt as well as much of his body. One eye burnt so badly that it was pale white as the group went around him as he gasped slightly. "What happened here follower of the Clan?"

"It...came...so slow...yet so fast..." he spoke softly. "Made of all metal, yet it moved as if it weighed nothing, a long nozzle that fired of spoke and spark, and as it fired, anything it was pointed at was destroyed!" Brandon listened as the human gasped slightly and brought his head to the side. "Only one used it...and many of the human king men...held the weapons that Terra brought with him, killing us all, saying it was...a test."

"A test to what?" asked Mar also bending down.

"The doom that...shall come," he answered. He coughed loudly, blood splattering on the ground as Zel moved closer, her hand ready to come out to heal him as the human shook his head. "Please don't save me...I wish to die...and see my family..."

"Are you sure?" she asked, readying the spell just to be safe. He smiled and nodded.

"I'm sure," he answered. Leaning his head back, closing his eyes and drifting into his never ending sleep.

"Damn it!" Brandon slammed his fist on the wall that was still standing as Lenora draped the human head with his hand and made a small pray. "Look Uncle, Lenora, we need the Clan help, something like this can't go unpunished!"

"We still don't have proof," Lenora spoke as Brandon eyes widened.

"Don't have...don't have proof!?" he screamed. "Look around you, what more proof you need!?"

"The Elder of the Clan will want visible proof," she answered. "Something we can carry back to show what the humans have that make them able to kill everyone off."

"Agh!" screamed Brandon stomping off as Tentra looked to them then to him as she followed after. Nixi shook her head glaring at Lenora as she only shrugged.

"Do you even care what happens," asked the wingless dragoness as Lenora turned to her with a blank look. "This man just told you what happen, what the human have now; just one of those could flatten this place. What if they get more huh? When will the Clan help then!?"

"You ask if I care what happens?" she asked as Nixi glared. "When I was a child, I was kidnapped and made into a slave, in more way then one, I learned then, that not caring about another life, but the one of my own, and the one that I love, is the only way to live. I do have emotions; I choose not to show them, the boy will need to see that as well if he wants to live. As for what was said, that is just words, and the Elder will not just take that and fight along side you, no, we need real proof."

"You want proof?" she huffed going into her bag and throwing the gun left by human attack at the castle. "This thing killed the king, and this!" she also threw a grenade beside it, the clip not in it, so it was a dud. "I saw this tiny thing, kill two dragons, blowing apart the dragon that held it to pieces!" the dragoness only looked down at the two items before her, picking them up and twisting them about.

"This may be enough," she answered, then looked toward Mar. "If you can open a portal, I'm sure we can get to the Elder before he sleeps for the night, though I think we should get your nephew."

"I'm on it," Drake answered walking off as Zel looked around a bit, sighing and shaking her head as Nixi snarled at the dragoness once more and moved closer to Zel.

"Brandon please wait up!" the human made his way into the forest by the dock. He couldn't believe that the dragoness could be so cold hearted, if she explained what happened, maybe the Elder would allow themselves to fight with them; his anger rising and rising until he stopped and started to punch the nearest tree. All the anger he held inside of him, one for what happened to the docks, and one for the promise he could never keep was poured out harder and harder until he knuckles started to bleed. "Stop it now!" Tentra held him by the waist from behind, trying to pull him back, still he punched on, but each punch came slower and slower, weaker and weaker until he fell to his knees panting hard as the drake female held him close from behind.

"Why is this happening...?" he question, his hand still bleeding, he could've easily just healed himself by then, but he let himself bleed. "Why does this war have to happen, the Shadow Clan like Lenora said is made up of the three races...so why can't everyone see that we can live without killing each other?" Tentra didn't know how to answer that, how could she? Herself, she always thought what the world would've been like without the humans around, but then there was Brandon and Mar. Two humans who have mates of the other species, and she knew that there had to be a chance that this could change, the world for the better.

"Brandon?" it was Drake, standing behind them. He smelt the blood in the air as Brandon turned, showing the bleeding hand. "We're going now, Mar said that with the proof we have now, we can go see the Clan leader."

Brandon only nodded, looking at Tentra for a moment with a blank like face, as he went where everyone was waiting. Drake watched as Tentra watched him go, sighing he went over and placed a claw on her shoulder.

"He's just stressed about everything," he answered. "I mean, come on, being a king because your father died, it's pretty sudden." She nodded and followed after her mate, as Drake sighed once more and followed after the two.

Alright all listen up, I have two commissions to do, someone already paid me the money and I need to work on them, so this story will be put on hold till they are done, as well as the short story Three Dragoness, one Human.
