Chapter Three: Setting out

I woke to something warm hitting my nose. I opened my eyes slowly and saw the Serra's head laying in front of me, her tongue licking my nose. I reared up, hitting my head on the wall. She sat up laughing. I could feel my cheeks reddening.

"About time you woke up." Serra said with a smile. "Come on, get up, get ready to leave."

"Ok, I'm up." I said annoyed.

"Go take a bath, down the hall first door on the right." Serra said with a smile."

"Thanks." I said as I got up.

I walked down the hall and into the bathroom closing the door behind me. Great I thought to myself stuck with the person I am supposed to be killing. The always taught me not to get connected with the people I am killing. Well, a couple of days won't hurt, if I am lucky another assassin will come for her, I will save her, be freed, and then kill her. I stepped into the shower. I turned on the water, as hot as it would go. When the first bit of water came out I could feel the magic used to move the water through the house. I had always hated magic. I cleaned myself off, using only water seeing how the shampoo Serra had was for scales.

I stepped out of the shower and dried my fur off. I pulled my pants back on then my robes. I really hated not having my dagger with me, I felt defenseless. After grooming my hair some I walked out of the bathroom and back into the living room where Serra and Blake were.

"Ok, Drake you read to go?" Serra asked me.

"Yes I believe so." I said with a small smile.

"Good, Blake you ready?" She asked.

"I is ready." Blake said with a smile.

"Ok good." Serra said with a smile. "Let's go."

Serra picked up a bag she must have packed and started out the door. Blake and I followed her out. The sun had just came up a little while ago and was hanging low in the sky. I let out a small yawn as we walked down a small dirt path.

"So, where are we going?" I asked Serra.

"There's a small port town, Lone I believe, about a day and a half walk from here." She said looking at me.

"Sounds good I believe." I said.

"Good." She said with a bright smile.

"Yeah." I said smiling back a bit.

"We'll take a break in a couple of hours and eat breakfast." She said. "I hope your good at hunting because that's the only way we are getting any food other than eggs."

"I can hunt." Blake said.

"I will do the hunting, I am an assassin, I hunt for a living." I said with a grin.

"Yeah, you don't hunt animals do you?" He asked.

"Well, no but they should be easier." I said.

"Wrong, animals go off instinct, people like us go off thought, which is easier to predict." Blake told me. "So I will hunt."

"Fine." I said with a grunt.

"Come on you two don't start fighting." Serra said.

"I'm not fighting." I said.

We walked in silence for a while, my stomach started to rumble. I ignored my hunger and continued to walk along with them. After another few minutes we stopped. Stepping off the path and onto a small clearing.

"Ok, Blake you said you could hunt, so go find us a little something for breakfast. Drake, go get some firewood so we can cook whatever he gets." Serra told us.

"Ok, I'll be back soon." Blake said.

I turned and walked off into the woods grabbing fallen pieces of wood on the ground. When I got a large enough stack I carried it back to the clearing we had stopped at. I piled up the wood so it would burn then sat down near the edge of the clearing. After a few minutes Blake came back caring a couple of rabbits. He sat down and pulled all the fur off of them and began to cook them.

"So, how is everyone feeling?" Serra asked.

"Hungry." I said.

"I figured as much." She said.

"And why is that?" I asked her.

"Your stomach has been rumbling for the past hour." She said.

"Oh, yeah." I said feeling my cheeks blush again.

Blake pulled the rabbits off the fire and cut them into equal pieces, giving me and Serra some he sat back down and started to eat. I ate in silence, Serra and Blake talked to each other but I was not paying attention. I finished my food and waited on them. After a few minutes of waiting they finished as well.

"Ok, who's ready to go?" Serra asked.

"I am." Blake and I said at the same time.

"Good." Serra said. "Let's go."

We all started back down the road, the sun was high in the sky, it would have had to have been noon. We walked down the road. A good start to the day I thought to myself Hope for the rest of the day to be just as good.
