Forgotten Ch 6

Rolling over I noticed that the morning sun now crested my window. Yawning I carefully sat up and swung my feet off of the bed. Looking at my phone I saw I had a new text from Jase. Looking at it I felt a distinct sense of pleasure rise and give way to a foolish smile. Slowly I got up from my bed and stretched pushing the drowsiness out of my muscles. Cracking my door open I looked down the hallway to make sure everyone was sleeping. Creeping out into the hall I made my way to the kitchen and opened the breadbox. Grabbing the whole wheat bread I took three slices and put it back. A small habit of mine was to just eat bread. Nothing on it or in between it. Just plain old run of the mill bread. Yum.

Sitting at the table I put down two of the slices and held the one in my hand. Squishing it I made it into something resembling a piece of paper. Ripping off the crust I ate that and grabbed the next slice. Doing the same to the others as I did the first I was left with three tan sheets of wheat bread. Habits never do die I suppose. I grabbed my paper bread and started to nibble at the first piece.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and my tail twitched to the side as a reaction. Figuring it must be Jase I pulled it out and giggled with excitement. I flipped open the phone and hit the center button. It was a weird message that came from a private line. It seemed to be coded somehow but I wasn't going to worry about it. Honestly what would Jase think if I responded to a text about 5oz of meat to be shipped to a place called "Nari". as I said no sense what so ever.

I finished my bread and wiped my hands off on the tank top I had worn. I turned to go back to my room to change into a more fitting attire. I can't go outside in these clothes after all. I pulled open the dresser drawer and grabbed a black and white stripped shirt. Reaching in the other side I tugged out a pair of dark blue jeans that had been made in Egypt. I loved these jeans they were as comfy as the clouds.

As I changed my clothes the events of last night came back all to clear. The make shift wrapping I had made last night fell loosely to the floor. I winced as I rewrapped it and made a mental note to find another hiding spot for my med kit. I stooped down to grab my pack as my phone raged in pocket. With an eager appetite to hear from Jase I pulled it from my pocket and snapped it open. It was from a private number again. Today was turning out to be an oddity. I sent Jase a message in hopes I'd get a reply.

I stepped out side onto the porch with backpack in hand and a sweater tied around my waist. Caution never hurt anyone. First things first the mini mart down on the corner. They should have the med supplies I'm looking for. My phone threw a fit in my pocket again. This time for sure it would be Jase. As I punched the center button my mind froze. The text had been sent from Jase' number but it was not something I had wanted to receive.

Immediately I turned my phone off and proceeded to the mart. I would get what I needed and then go check on Jase. I needed to hurry. Foreboding thoughts and feelings kept passing with ease into my mind. I hoped to any god if any existed that they would be wrong.
