Different - A Monologue
Synopsis: GUY has been kicked out of his house because his parents found out he is gay. After calling his boyfriend and telling him what happened, his boyfriend left him. All he has with him now is his laptop, and he types his story on a word document for whoever finds it. GUY speaks as he types.
GUY
(Enters Stage Right and sits on the ground in Up Stage Right. Opens laptop.)
"Dear reader,"
No...
"Please listen,"
Too desperate. (Chuckles to himself. Pause. Nods.)
"To whom it may concern,
If you are reading this, then I am more than likely dead."
How clichéd...
"I hope that you will not stop reading, for I am here to tell you my story, and hopefully prevent such a tragedy from happening again. I have been left here. If you think I am here by choice, then you are wrong on all counts. I would never choose to be here; to be left here; to be alone. Why would someone choose such a road?"
Isn't that always how it is?
"People may say that it is my fault that I am here, but I am who I am."
(Sighs.) Even in death.
"I have been left here by my family and boyfriend. Yes, I said boyfriend. And that's exactly why I'm here. Because I'm different. My family kicked me out for being different. My boyfriend left me alone because I have nothing."
Selfish ass. (Starts to cry.)
"If you have read this far, you are one of concern, and I thank you. Maybe you understand me, maybe you don't, but I still thank you. Even if you hate me, at least think. If you don't hate me, at least do."
I wish there was something I could do.
"Do something for the world. It needs all the help it can get.
Guy"
(Black out as GUY closes his laptop.)
