Hope and Dreams part 5

I would again like to apoligies for the last chapter screw up. i will just give u up to that point no because really, why not?
here u are.
"Is it true?!". Girls shot at Issac for the six hundredth time in two periods. They had hounded him like the dogs most of them were. "Are you and Vincent a thing?".
Issac stopped answering to most, they never let him get the truth out. Jeromy had only taunted him in gym class about the text, thank god. It wasn't until after gym, did he truly want for physical pain over the drowning attention. Hell, Issac himself got the text too, not exactly sure how to feel about it until the mob attacked, then he knew he felt embarrassed. He wanted so much for it to be true, but he knew it wasn't, and he knew he couldn't talk or think about it to much without falling into angry tears about how much fate hated him so much as to dangle this crap in front of him.
He slammed his locker shut and headed to the library, Mr. Floydee would kick out the noisy ones. He simply got out his homework and tried to avoid the flock of jealous girls that swarmed to his table, the kindest saying how lucky he was and how jealous they were. The cruel ones calling him a man stealing faggot who should keep his disease away from the hot ones.
Mr. Andrews flipped shit on them, demanding they quiet down or leave. Most left, but about three tables full of girls pulled out work and asked him the same freakin question, but in a whisper.
"Is it true?. Holy shit, it is true isn't it?".
After a half hour Issac stood up, turning all heads.
"It's not true, we aren't together. Jeromy is a lying shit. We are just friends, and he twisted that because I'm Bi". Then he sat back down and went back to work. But they all left, including him who was kicked out for swearing.
Issac felt his phone vibrate, just as he got in the hallway,it was a text from Vincent. "Ok, meet me behind the gym, I'll be in the car. Be sneaky man, I take it your just as hounded as me".
Issac hadn't done all his work, but he collected his stuff and snuck out of the school, spotting Vincent's red car with ease. He hopped in the back seat and ducked down on the floor. Vincent chucked a towel over him.
Issac laughed a little, trying to break the awkward air. "We think alike".
It was lucky Issac ducked, because some guys and girls actually came up the car to see if Issac there. Vincent said he was sorry to disappoint, but the rumor wasn't true, and drove off.
Issac climbed carefully up front. "So.......what's the plan?".
Vincent shrugged. "Gym, then my house again?".
Issac cocked his head. "Got it, but really, what do we do?".
Vincent shrugged. "Tell everyone we aren't a couple and see if they believe us. All I know is that I won't stop hanging with you because of Jeromy. That would make him the winner".
"Same". Issac said, not really wanting to imagine his life without Vincent now. The car got awkward again. "So...umm....how about some music?. Or are you not in the mood?".
Vincent shrugged again. "Let's keep the radio off, I wouldn't sing along now anyway".
Vincent was depressed, either that or deep in thought. Issac didn't like to see the big bear distressed, so he kept quiet until they hit the gym, not wanting to distract him from anything he was thinking about.
Max felt the awkward atmosphere in the gym. He poked around, asking them but fell in defeat, only talking the two through their workout.
Issac felt the silence like a slowly increasing weight upon him. The more silence, the harder it was not to try and cheer up Vincent. The bears mind was elsewhere, no cracking jokes, encouragement or anything more then telling Max what he wanted to do.
"Ok you guys, good job today. Hit the showers. Issac, more protein man or these workouts won't be as effective".
Issac nodded, following Vincent to the showers, skipping the sauna. Even under the odd situations pressure, Issac couldn't help but admire every inch of the bear's hot, glistening body. He was like a magazine cover or something, the shower water hitting him just right, the dim lighting for mystery. Issac almost sighed out loud when the bear shook off his fur.
"Ok then, sorry I've been spacy man". Vincent said, going for his towel and ending Issac's show. "Umm, let's head to your place and get you some stuff".
Issac gave him a look, rinsing the rest of the soap off of himself. "It's Ok, but umm, why do I need stuff?"
Vincent gave an odd crooked smile. "Sorry, I should ask you first. I just assumed you'd say yes. Anyway, my family is going out on our boat this weekend, before the weather gets way to cold".
He just stood in the door way between the lockers and the showers. "Last time out, want to come? You'd need to sleep over; the lake is like three hours away so we need to leave early".
Issac shut off the water, nearly dying of excitement. This would be great! A boat, Vincent all weekend, and no Jeromy.
"Umm, lets see......Hells yeah!. That would be great man, thanks".
Vincent smiled. "This will make trouble too, an added bonus." he walked into the lockers with Issac following behind."I can see the headlines now. 'New Gay Couple have Boating Experience. What took place in those Rocky Waters?'. God sometimes I love making trouble for myself".
Issac gave him a look, drawing on his sleep pants and tee shirt. "That's odd. But to each their own". Issac smiled to himself that Vincent had opened up again.
Issac collected some things, and told his mom were he would be. Then rang Lucy and told her his mom would be home alone for the weekend. The car ride back to Vincent's was full of music, their atmosphere finally returning to them..
They sat down to more of Mrs. Cowell's home cooking. Then Issac dumped his stuff in Vincent's room and they went to the basement for games, movies and such. They laughed all night, having a blast.
A seven o'clock wake up would be a pain if they stayed up passed three a.m. So they decided two thirty would be a good time to hit the hay. Back up in Vincent's room, a spread of blankets and pillows lay on the floor for Issac.
"That's my mom". Vincent said, pulling off his shirt and hopping into his own bed, then getting up to look at his computer. "Thirty seven unread messages on paw book, and forty-eight wall posts. God this is getting annoying. Check yours". Vincent said logging out of his profile and giving the chair to Issac.
"Hmmm, I got saved a wall attack, but......one hundred and sixteen friend requests". Issac said with a laugh.
Vincent was quiet again, so Issac got up and walked over to the bear as he sat on his bed. "You Ok?"
Vincent stood up fast, his face looked confused. Issac got closer, concerned. "Are you ok?" Issac repeated.
Vincent walked forward. "I don't know how to handle all this man". Then to Issac's surprise the bear brought him in for a tearful hug, practically crushing him.
"What's up?"
"Aside from this gay couple thing?. Coach, football, my dad, my hobbies. I can't look myself in the mirror. You, Jeromy, puberty, my family, and.........". He cried again, sitting on the bed. He didn't cry out loud, just sniffed and teared.
"Is that all?". Issac tried to joke.
Vincent looked up. "No". And pulled Issac down for a teasing peck on the lips.
Issac pulled away, confused, but took the initiative himself, making it into a real kiss. He had never been happier; literally no other words could describe the moment. He didn't have to kiss first, he didn't have to ruin a friendship, and he still got his hug and kiss. That split second lasted an eternity, before Vincent cruelly pulled back, ending the waking dream.
Vincent pulled back, a hurt confusion in his eyes "I don't know how I feel about it yet. I can't even tell if I liked it, or what"
Issac got down onto his makeshift bed, lying back and looking up at the bear, doing well to mask the disappointment.
"Well give it time, if you don't like it, then you don't".
"And if I don't? Then I know you do and we won't be the same". Vincent said. "I like how we are".
Issac swallowed his own lust with an effort, feeling its dry taste in his throat.
"I like how we are too Vincent. I don't want to lose you". Issac panicked. "Let's pretend that never happened. We aren't together at all, and we have a boat ride tomorrow. As friends". Issac emphasized.
Vincent smiled, nodding, and put his head down on the pillow. "Im so sorry Isaac."
"Don't be, that's the point of forgetting, it....it never happened. There is nothing to talk about." The words were salt on an open wound.
"You're a good friend."
Issac was saddened by the speed Vincent accepted denial as a path. That kiss had made his entire high school career worth it, and he rejected it so fast after offering it.
"Goodnight". He responded, falling into his own tears, and his own sleep.
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
The next morning was a groggy, annoying, and fast one for the two. It started out with the twins hitting the two with water balloons as a cruel idea of how too "wake up the boys." Vincent grumbled for the two to get out, while Issac swore under his breath. He had barely slept a wink in the limited time he had.
Vincent's confusion had been a blessing and a curse. Issac didn't have to break the ice later. (Plus). But Vincent also seemed to reject anything he may have felt. (Big fat negative). Issac still held on to a sliver of hope though. Vincent said he was unsure. That gave two options and a living chance.
What was concerning was the fact that Vincent had destroyed his entire way of life in a few days. The bear had brought down his walls. In three days he had given him hope, and he had taken to it. He hoped; for the first time in a long time.
It felt strange, good, but also like you were a moment from being pushed from a cliff.
Vincent rose from sleep, and quickly seemed to activate, shutting the door and changing. "You bring swim trunks?" He asked groggily.
Issac shook his head to wake up. "Umm.....no. I don't even think I have any that fit". Issac said embarrassed but truthfully. "I don't swim much."
Vincent nodded. "Ok, then Umm. Change and I'll be downstairs. Bring your clothes and stuff down with you". There was no sugar coat or added flair, just a straight forward conversation, it was still to early to be smart asses, or even remotely conversational for that matter.
After Vincent left, Issac got up slowly and went through his bag for his clothes. He changed and convinced himself to leave the room. The twins ran down the stairs laughing, bringing back memories of his own, never tired childhood, that infinite sugar high, high on life, and innocent time. When things were simple.
Issac made it to the stairs when he heard "Your Issac?" from behind him.
She must have been Vincent's sister, she was tall and thin with tanner fur like her mother. She wore a hoodie and sweats.
"Umm yeah. Your Vincent's sister?". Issac asked, walking down the stairs slowly.
"Yep, I'm Kathy. Umm come here". She said shyly walking into her room.
Issac felt weird but followed. Her room was smaller than Vincent's and much more packed. Boxes on boxes, two dressers, a large closet and a big bed.
"Did you bring a sweater or something?". She asked going into her closet.
Issac gave her a look. "No it's not supposed to be cold today."
"Yeah, well take this". She handed him a blue sweater. "Dad freezes the car; you'll have a miserable 3 hours without it".
She saw him looking it over. "It's not girly, I'm not that mean. It's just Vincent won't remember to tell you because he's forgetful". She shrugged.
"Thanks". Issac said with a smile. Carrying it downstairs with him, trying desperately to get away from any impending conversation.
"So is it true?". She asked quickly, catching him mid-step.
Crap.
"What?" he asked, knowing from experience what was to come.
She blushed. "Are you gay......with Vincent?".
Issac blushed now, even with all his foresight to this with every other sibling of a friend. It was like they were asking if he was secretly a woman, it was too personal for them to be nonchalant about it, so it was always said with a shy face, and it was always the last words in the conversation. But all the same the previous night flashed in his head with a sad ping. "Umm, no. We're just friends. I am Bi, I can have a girlfriend just as easily as a boyfriend".
That awkward exchange ended with an odd nod, and retreat from Kathy. Then the twins ran around the livingroom snapping Issac back from his stupor.
"Issac! Come play!". One of them yelled.
"Catch us!". Yelled the other.
Issac watched them run off and then put his stuff in the hallway, going to find Vincent. That wasn't too hard, they were packing things into the car. His dad and himself were lifting a cooler up into the trunk. The twins shot by again screaming about him playing tag.
Vincent walked back. "Go show them who's faster". He suggested. "Show 'em whose boss....!".
Issac laughed a little. "You say that like you can't catch them. Is big ol' Vincent a little slower then his brothers?".
"Reis and Andy are fast!". Vincent shot back defensively, "They don't stop".
"Are you fast Issac?". The booming voice of Vincent's father rang.
The big bear entered the garage. "You wouldn't break like a toothpick if you dodged the tackle huh?".
It took Issac a moment to understand the reference to their first meeting.
"Ahh, yeah Umm, I'm pretty fast, but sports just....aren't my thing". Issac said honestly.
The big bear never dropped the intensity, his expression never shifting. "A man needs a hobby. Something to be passionate about. You should give it a try if you haven't". With that it was a nod and Mr. Cowell returned inside.
Vincent watched his dad go inside. "Sorry about that. And Umm, why do you have Kathy's sweater on?".
Issac looked down. "Oh, she said it gets cold in the car, and you'd forget to tell me".
Vincent gave him an odd, disappointed look. "Dude, that's a girl's sweatshirt". he shook his head. "Come here, I'll get you men's clothes"
If someone had told Isaac Vincent had been drunk last night and forgot the whole thing, Isaac would have believed them. The bear was just as he had been before, which the dog could not be more thankful for.
They laughed going to get some different clothes. Issac felt awkward, he still liked Vincent. Even the simplicity in which he switched the clothes. Kindness Issac didn't know from many other places in his life, he couldn't lose that now.
Issac put on a smile and switched the sweatshirts. He couldn't weird Vincent out either, that would push him into a hasty and possibly wrong decision. He had to wait for Vincent to decide, either way Issac was happy. But one way he would be happier. Obviously he wanted that one more.
The ride to Lake Enix was absolutely freezing. The twins slept calmly, but Issac, Vincent and Kathy suffered through it. Vincent's parents talked, occasionally including the three in conversation. Mr. Cowell wouldn't drop the football thing. He talked teams with Vincent and his mom, the school team with Issac and Vincent, and joining the team with Issac. Kathy was included for about a minute before she put headphones in her ears.
"If you don't have a hobby, an outlet, you won't be your best Issac. You could try it. If it isn't for you," he went on, taking a breath, making Issac smile, it sounded like it hurt him for someone to not like football. "Then you stop".
"I'll think about it Sir". Issac said subconsciously, getting a pleased nod.
"Let's talk about something else". Vincent's mother said. "Issac, do you know anything about lake Enix?" She didn't wait for a response. "It's beautiful, and has plenty of spots for swimming. Can you swim?"
Again she didn't wait. "I'm sure you can. Not many can't".
She spewed information without a point. Enix was a natural lake, mountainous, and clean. Not many boats, but had a large harbor and a small town. Their uncle/family friend lived in the area so they would drop by.
After the first hour, the twins woke up and the volume increased in the small space of the truck, driving Issac crazy. Vincent and him listened to music on an mp3, drowning out the noise.
Issac's jaw dropped. It wasn't a simple boat, it was a freakin Yacht!!!. The thing was huge, with a big open deck with a grille, fishing seats, tanning chairs, three beds below deck, bathroom and a sports deck that lowers itself to the water.
"What do you think?" Vincent said with a grin. "How is the 'Heartless Angel'?".
Issac turned in shock, the name snapping him from his stupor "The what?"
"Yeah it was our uncle's idea, he helped buy it". He laughed. "Uncle Squall is umm.......hard core to say the least".
Vincent scratched his nose. "Heavy rock and daring stunts for him".
Issac nodded. "Cool, is he married?"
Vincent actually laughed. "Umm no. He isn't the type to settle down, you'll see". He ensured.
After about an hour of checking the boat, they finally set sail. Squall had arrived about ten minutes into the inspection. He introduced himself as just Squall to Isaac, no formality and very friendly
He was a rather tall fox, almost matching Vincent's height, with grey blue fur and a white belly. The fur on his head was crazy and bed raggled, but looked cool. He wore blackish jeans, and a shirt advertising some foreign band Issac had never heard of.
"So you're a friend of Vincent's". He stated, more then asked. "It works. I was the little guy to the big fellow myself". Pointing at Vincent's dad, as he absently scratched at his chins beard-esk swoosh of fur, not taking his eyes off Isaac for a moment, like he was observing him for any weakness or something.
"Yeah, we kinda just worked, it was an easy friendship". Issac admitted. "How were you and Mr. Cowell?"
He nodded. "Fine, he was always extreme about the game though. Tried to get me to play it like he probably has you". He laughed.
"Vincent's a natural for sure, but I wonder what he would have been like without the father's shadow thing". Squall muttered to no one in particular, staring into space.
Issac started to wonder that himself. Vincent had absolutely cracked last night/this morning. The pressure. What was hidden behind the mask?
Squall was an architectural manager for his own company. Issac took interest immediately, he wanted to be an architect himself.
"Schooling is expensive and hard to find". Issac noted, "Where did you go?"
Squall smiled. "I went to a medical school first actually. I was a natural, but I hated it. Then I tried to use my music as a career". He put his thumb down and made a farting noise. "Yeah not so good. So I took one of those career tests, found architecture to be perfect. I went to Heverent University. It's quite a drive east, but the campus was beautiful, and the people were great".
Squall went on, asking Issac about himself as well. It was easy to talk to the fox. He was smart but casual and down to earth.
Issac liked him a lot. He was....agreeable and amusing. He was a bit like Vincent, but wiser. Issac realized with a painful shock that he was filling the void of his father figure.
He sighed, knowing that Squall didn't settle, so his father figure, love and friend relationships, were fucked up. Great.
