My English Lyrics for "Sleepless Beauty" from Gravitation

Back in...god knows when. Back in Hell as a time, I found the Japanese animation, Gravitation, buried like a secret on the web as I desperately clasped for an escape. It broke my heart to see the two worlds of Yuki Eiri and Shindou Shuichi collide, both what I was and what I wanted. Like the parenthetical character of these lyrics, I succumbed to growing the scars over my heart just to realize what I had lost. The only difference is I still have nothing now.

The lyrics are to a song called "Sleepless Beauty" which, in the world of Gravitation, is performed by the band Nittle Grasper. The lyrics feel like an experienced lover helping the inexperienced party to discover himself while explaining what being truly, deeply in love for the first time can be like. The parentheticals feel like the inexperienced party's reactions to the changes in their life.

I wonder what Maki Murakami would say.

Unfortunately for me, my unworthiness constantly obstructs me. It's not something you can grant to yourself. I'm trapped here, smiling alone.

Even from a distance, I see your shining eyes. They gleam as they awaken, waiting for the day.

Let the ramparts of the night seduce you, as you cast away the rags of a past that you once knew.

(Without any exit) You look for anything to help you break the fall.

(Apart at the seams) Let the tales enrapture you.

You who have been reborn, with glowing eyes, are you still afraid of having to be alone as you smile?

Even if your world of dreams has burned to ash, by some miracle, I may clasp your hand, across the distant mile.

(Hold me gently, dear, in order to break me.)

Like a wilting flower, now you are exposed. Your purity, like petals, around you are disposed.

Cupping them in your hands, you only now realize, each day is but a gleaming jewel shown in your eyes.

(Someone's icy hand) gathers up the thorns that have been shed.

(The flame that we have, hidden,) smolders in between our heads.

In a place of glowing light, just out of reach, can we create the vivid, dancing dream; brilliant, and a little strange?

I know the guiding words of those who've stayed or gone away can overflow, but even if they do, don't fear the winds of change.

(And there's no way out.)

(I'm falling further down.)

I'm speaking to the reborn you, with glowing gaze: You won't be alone when your smile's on your face.

Even if your world of dreams has burned to ash, there's room for miracles; it could be born anew, in a place of

glowing light, just out of reach, can we create the vivid, dancing dream; brilliant, and a little strange?

I know the guiding words of those who've stayed or gone away can overflow, but even if they do, don't fear the winds of change.

(Hold me gently, always catch me, time and time again, just to break my heart.)
