No Easy Going: Prologue
A prologue for a story I might post here. Let me know if you like it, and I'll upload all the chapters I have written so far
People want freedom. It's a base desire to have rights. But when their rights are threatened, people become violent, angry, and spiteful. And most importantly, they become warlike. That is exactly what happened on March 14, 2036, when a group calling themselves the Red Right Hands emerged. They had been planning something for years. It started with Taiwan. The presence of a Chinese military fleet in Taiwan caused pandemonium within the United Nations. But this wasn't a Chinese military operation. This was the doing of the Hands. They wanted power. All of it. Then, Russia came into play. Hand agents within the Kremlin took Hostile Action. They launched a missile. A big one. It was headed straight for Hawaii. Fortunately, SkyWatch US military satellites saw the missile and intercepted it with another missile. Both exploded over the middle of the Pacific Ocean in a grand display of nuclear fireworks. At this point, the UN security council--The very UN branch in charge of diverting the possibility of another World War--disintegrated as Red Right Hands began to expand into the rest of the Asian continent. The United States counter-attacked first. They moved into India and Russia and began to mobilize with the respective national armies. Germany was second. They did what they did best in terms of naval units. They made submarines. And a lot of them, too. These fleets were sent to Taiwan, to start another round of submarine warfare. By this time, Red Right Hand activity was emerging all over the globe. Russia, with the help of the US military, did what they did best. The used their tanks. With this mass armada of the counter-attack and the utilization of Blitzkrieg tactics, the tank and infantry brigades of the Red Right Hands didn't stand a chance. They had to retreat. The command chain of the Hands was not happy. Using whatever power they had left, they launched every missile they had. Now, normally people would think that at this point the entire world would have vanished in a nuclear puff of smoke. Some missiles did reach their targets, entire cities obliterated. But due to the inexperience of Hand agents tasked with launching the missiles, things went wrong. Most missiles malfunctioned, and literally missed by miles or exploded without the warhead detonating. Others were easily intercepted and detonated harmlessly in midair. But some missiles did reach their targets. At this point, The US-led coalition pushed the hands back to the border, where their internal security was faltering. They were screwed. There was some military back and forth for a few months, but in the end, inevitably surrounded, with failing propaganda and tactics, The Hands were cut off. The coalition moved in, and terms of surrender were negotiated. The Red Right Hands were abolished, and World Order was restored. The war was finally over, and in record time. Human freedom was safe. And now, the celebrations of the end of the war continue, but 2056 will hold much more than just the 20th anniversary of the end of the freedom war. So much more.
