The Final Stand part 2
While the bunker was under siege the drop ships carrying Tamati and his squads sailed across the wasteland with nothing but the music from the radio playing and the soldiers conversing with one another.
"So who's in charge of the base there?"
"Prince Fang of Mobius...They also call him the Dragon Champion."
One of the soldiers then noticed Tamati sitting in the back of the ship wearing his black armor which would have hidden him well if not for the dim light revealing his bodies outline, the pilot then activated the intercom on the ship as it began to shake violently before the lights popped.
"Strap yourselves in boys. we're here!"
The moment the hangar doors opened the sound of gunfire and battle cries filled the air as Tamati activated his armor and grabbed an assault rifle stepping in front of the troops.
"MOVE OUT BOYS!!!"
"HOOAH!!"
The soldiers stormed out of the ships guns blazing as the aparoids attempted to bring down the ships, then Tamati spotted Fang on the wall with the banner of the dragon knights behind him and in front of him aparoids swarmed only to be slashed to bits by his blade.
"DRIVE THEM BACK!!!"
"Captain! have your men reinforce the left flank! the rest of you are with me!!"
Tamati and his men joined Fang on the wall as the remaining swarm was driven off only to be blasted by the arwings lead by fox and the field was soon set ablaze as the aparoids were burned while the soldiers cheered in victory. Dawn once again rose over the battlefield with the remaining fires burning out and the smell of burned flesh hung in the air. While the medical squads checked the wounded Fang and the rest of his unit, along with Tamatis celebrated with a well earned feast and a strong drink.
Tamati and Fang sat away from the noisy crowd to catch up, still wearing their battle damaged armor. Both looked to the horizon as the flag ships sailed over head, then Fox, Slippy, Falco and Peppy joined them as they pulled up several chairs and grabbed a mug.
"*sighs* HQ says we march towards the hive at first light."
"One more battle and we're home free."
"When I get home....it's just going to be me, Fara and our child."
All raised their glasses to the days of peace that would be coming but deep within the hive the queen of the aparoids sensed her enemies drawing closer and all throughout the tunnels her soldiers and drones waited as the ships reached their destination and hovered overhead.
While back on Corneria the girls waited in their homes and cleaned their houses waiting for their mates to return and in one photo Krystal saw Fox and smiled but she feared the worst as she looked at her growing belly and wondered what the future would hold for her should Fox never return.
