Twisted Night: Chapter 9
#44 of Scales and Honor- Night Rising +
In which Infinity dances.
Chapter 9
Infinity followed Lyyreth down the worn dirt street to where the numerous sea of dull clothed mortals had gathered together for their celebration. Humans and elves cheerfully gathered around one another, constructing fire pits to roast collections of gathered goods close by on makeshift tables of stone. She spied the telltale signs of magical creation and figured that Cordenth had a paw to play in them. The meats that were piled high were already cleaned and from various animals simply waiting to be skewered and twirled over the fires the mortals had given life to. She snorted as the thick smell of burning wood filled her nostrils and almost made her sneeze. She shook her head from the saliva to gaze out towards the prancing mortals that were filling the air with pleased sounds of happiness. This took in the form of laughter, loud voices, and clanging of wooden tankards against each other with sloshing drinks.
She passed by several of the carts stacked to the brim with crates and supplies for the road ahead, shying away when people cheered and raised their mugs for them. Even the usual stalwart demeanor of the elves had been softened as they too were sharing alongside the others in their merriment.
"Three cheers for the dragons!" One square jawed man shouted, foam from his drink clinging to beard like a sloth.
"Aye, best ones around!" Shouted a pockmarked faced old woman with several teeth missing.
"To the dragons!" The sound of the town came to her ears like the howling of a storm. Infinity's ears pinned back against her head as she shifted away from them. If she could have blushed like Lyyreth she would be doing so right now. Her scales felt as though they were on fire, and her heart quickened to a gallop. She fought the instinct to hide when Lyyreth slid past her and started thanking the people that came up to him with bows of his head. With a calming breath she composed herself and mimicked the gesture to any mortal that thanked her, which seemed to be every soul in attendance by the look of it. By the time she was done it felt like she had pranced around the entire town offering her blessing when the delectable smell of cooking meats wafted through the air and tugged at her senses like a siren song did for men of the sea.
The world faded for a brief instant as the smell slithered into her nose and pulled her neck with it. Like she was supported by a thin wire she began to slowly walk towards the fires, a pleased rumble coming from her throat. Several people must have caught on, cause she heard them chuckle and briefly saw them point to her out of the corner of her eyes. She would have minded if not for another sniff of that alluring smell, so with a puff out of her chest and wiggle of her tail she strolled over to the fires, practically drooling by the time she got there. She nearly was wagging her tail when she walked up to a simple brown clothed man with pointed ears and a slender face.
He looked to her with an amused smile, his eyes almost knowing the effect the scent was having on her. The elf was rotating a wooden pole over a crackling fire, meats skewered onto it and roasting away as their juices dripped tantalizingly onto the wood. When she glanced to the tables of food he held up a finger, laughing as he did so. "You're going to have wait most honorable dragoness. Meat is much better once it has been properly cooked and seasoned."
"But can't we eat it now?" She groaned, pawing at the dirt and offering him a wrinkle of her maw. Her stomach then lended aid to her plight by grumbling out into the air. " I might die." She hung her head pathetically, her ears twitching in time with her wiggling of her tail.
"You don't look rather starving, course never seen a starving dragon round these parts." The elf still sounded like he was smiling, a slight bit of happiness lingering in his words. "I'd still wait for it though. The food we have here is fit for a ki-...Well queen in this case." He gestured to her when she raised her head with a frown.
The idea amused her, sent a little tingle of intrigue coursing through her blood. She had never eaten like royalty before, not even from the baskets that Axton had shared with her. Nor when Jerry had offered some goods. She tilted her head and snorted, the thought fighting off hunger's sweet words long enough for her to maintain control.
"Fine." She eyed the man's joyful smile, fighting the urge to smile back at him. "I'll sample this meat of yours cooked and spiced. You said it was good for a queen?"
"That I did lady dragon. Grozzo only ate the finest foods. How else to celebrate the tyrant's demise? Seems fitting that his subjects dine of what was his." The elf held up a hand, a phantom cup held with his grasp as the others around him raised mugs of their own and let forth a jubilant shout that almost made her trill with them.
She strolled away with a sway of her hips, curling her neck back to shout her last proclamation towards him. "We shall see how you do elf!" She rolled her eyes as she padded away, neglecting to tell the man her palette wasn't too picky. She came to a stop and watched as a group of mortals were doing something quite odd. Standing transfixed her snout followed the mortals that seemed to be prancing around like deer. Some had their arms intertwined with one another as smiles dominated their faces. First she thought they were mated pairs or something, she knew that intertwining tails meant something to dragons, maybe the arms carried over into them? They seemed to be moving in relation to the sounds being produced from a group of mortals with pieces of wood with strings woven into them. They were plucking away at such devices with great smiles, tapping their feet to the beat. Another was banging away on cup shaped objects with a cloth like material stretched over them like some sheet for a bed. The melody that were producing perplexed her as the mortals danced around her without a care in the world. Not even being watched by the dragoness seemed to deter their motions. In fact they seemed to want her to join them, some even calling to the beautiful dragoness to start moving. Then as if enchanted by a curse she noted that her paw was slowly rising and falling in time with the beat.
For countless minutes she stood enthralled, head cocked to the side as they continued on with their merriment. She thought she mind have heard Cordenth make a joke at her expense but his words were lost within the pleasing sea of up beat tunes that wafted through the air and enthralled her mind. She was sprung from her stupor when a young child's foot caught her tail and went face first into the grass with a surprised yell. The dragoness whirled around, mindful of her steps as she offered the little human boy a curious glance over with her snout. Evidently the little red face child had tried to use her tail as something to jump over. When she looked at him he gave her a large smile, not seeming to mind that a dragoness many times his size was looking to him with interest. The little brown haired child pushed himself up and gave her a warm look.
Instantly it was as if a dark cloud had suddenly enveloped her heart as more children came to point and smile at her scales. Some even commenting how pretty her wings were. Cold lapped at her scales the longer she looked into their cute little faces. It flowed beneath her armor and stabbed at her insides like a long crooked dagger with serrated edges. She backed away as her ears pinned back against her head on their own accord, and the music that was playing started to fade away as a loud ringing filled her ears. Her heart throbbed in her chest, like it had grown several sizes and threatened to burst from her chest. Without a word she bound away from the mortals at a quickened pace. She only stopped when she had climbed the hill, alone, with no one else to see her.
She glanced back towards the villagers, who looked rather surprised by her departure. None followed through to her relief and went back to their enjoyment. It was as if they could forget the years of abuse for one night. One evening where they could only enjoy each other and look forward to the promises that tomorrow would bring. She hung her head as a lonely wind kissed at her scales.
But I can't forget you. She slunk over the swaying grass, not minding the cold that was leaking up from the ground into her paw pads. She stopped and stretched out her wings one at a time, a heavy sigh escaping her snout. Infinity glanced down to her chest, a claw rising to caress the scarred scales that resided there. Each line that was a memory of the lich's torture, some even she didn't know how she had gotten. She trembled softly, whining into the air as his cackling laughter came to mind. Memories flashed before her eyes of her time at the tower, each one laced with cold and sorrow that tied an anchor to her heart. Her emerald eyes began to mist as she looked to the setting sun, the orange rays mixing into the sky and looking warmer than it truly was. She sniffed as the first tears of many began to leak from her eyes and roll down her scaled cheeks and dripped to the earth.
Will I ever be okay? How many nights will I be locked in this sorrow? She caressed where her heart should be, feeling as though a hole was left gaping within it. She settled onto her hinds, tail curling around her as she gave a sorrow filled whine. She hung her head, tapping her tail lightly on the grass as the thought she might one day be okay terrified her. When she was okay, would that mean she would have forgotten about Axton? Part of her didn't want to move on from that. She didn't want to forget the one who had sacrifice himself to assure her freedom, but she also didn't want to spend the rest of her days locked within a prison of sorrow. She tapped her chest, not knowing what to do.
"How are you holding up?" Lyyreth's voice carried on the air like a soothing breeze. One that calmed the storm of emotions lurking beneath her scales as he strode over with tentative steps. Thankfully he was alone, no one else had decided to share the journey with the green dragon giving her a concerned look with those captivating sunflower eyes of his. "Lots of people down there are quite happy for you." He slid next to her, settling down onto his haunches with a soft hum. "Why did you leave?"
How she wanted to lie to him right now. Flick her tail and roll her eyes as she made some sarcastic comment to drive him away. Push him away so he couldn't get hurt. Just like all the rest. Her form shivered in a very un-dragon like manner before she gazed into his eyes and wiped away her tears. "The children." She said softly, glancing down to her claws and closing and opening them. "They reminded me of Axton the longer I looked at them. Their little cute faces, their laughter. It...just was too much." Her spines drooped as she looked away, setting her sights onto the tree-tops lined with the sun's glistening light. "I started to miss him again...The sound of his voice as we read magic books and stories. The feeling of him pressed close as we cuddled each night. To the comfort of knowing I had someone that cared about me." She shut her snout as the cold soon threatened to envelop her again.
"But you're not alone. Don't you see?" The green dragon smiled weakly, gesturing to the others with a slight flick of his tail. "And I care about you."
She laughed when his frills started to blush.
"What I m..meant to say." He pulled his head back, trying to hide his blushing but failing to do so. "Was Cordenth also cares about you too. All those people down there care about the great Night Rising that came to help rescue them from an evil tyrant."
His words chipped away at the imposing force of her sorrow and despair. Each syllable only helping warm her heart as his blushing only increasing their effectiveness. "Thank you." She glanced back to him with an honest smile, and nuzzling him with a sigh. His scales were warm and instinctively she went back for another one. "From the bottom of my heart."
"Well.." The green dragon stammered, unsure how to react. "Would you want to go give that human dancing a try? I know it's only an imitation but it looks fairly entertaining."
She glanced passed him to the wiggling and bouncing people. How they leaped without care across the grass. She thought they looked rather silly moving like that but maybe that was what it was supposed to look like. "Wait..." She looked back to Lyyreth with a raised brow. "You said imitation?"
Lyyreth's eyes widened. "Oh that's right!" He curled his head and smacked the ridge between his eyes. "You don't know things like this." He gestured to the sky with an extended wing, and described how dragons danced in the sky with their wings. He chuckled that a friend of his had accused mortals of stealing the way they danced from dragons. It sounded rather pleasing the way he talked about it. Such fruitful descriptions that it sounded more like a work of art then simply flight between two dragons.
"Would you like to dance up there with me for fun?" She offered him a smile. She didn't know if was the idea of flight or because it was with him, but she found herself happy. The thoughts of the past soon fading the longer she was held spellbound by his yellow spheres.
He looked stunned for lack of a better word. Like what she had said seemed to not make sense. He slightly shook his head, wiggling his frame before her. "I'd...love to actually." He smiled with his eyes closed. "Though..." he stretched out a wing, curling his neck inward to nose at the delicate membranes covered in ink. Her smile grew ever larger as he sat transfixed, his eyes gazing upon every motion she had made. "But the wings." He shook it gently, wincing as he did so. "They remembered they are supposed to hurt."
"Well knock them a few more times, I'm sure they will forget again." She found herself laughing with warming scales, only to be joined by his as well.
She sighed after a few seconds of their joyous cacophony of sounds. "Just promise me we can try them when you're feeling better okay?" She stood up, stretching like a cat as she worked a kink from her neck and tail. She cocked her head to him when he didn't reply right away, to find he was staring at her like some treasured jewel. His eyes following along every scale of her body. Like nothing else mattered to him. She looked away, her blood warming as if caught within a summer's rays. She pushed his snout away with a playful batting of is nose, hissing with awkward laughter. "Come on statue! Answer me!"
"Y...yes." He shook with a chuckle, "But would you like to try..the human way? I know it rather looks silly...but.." He looked looked over his shoulder down towards the humans prancing away.
"Well of course it looks silly." She threw her head with a roll of her eyes. Infinity bound with her next few paces, nosing at the green dragon with her snout. "But that's why they do it right? That's why they're skipping away like they ate a whole batch of creme puffs!"
"You might have to explain..."
"Later!" She groaned, pushing her body against his before prancing away a few paces. Once there she closed the distance between them with wave like movements, like the ones that they had been doing down by the fire. "Like that?" She lowered her stance, tail swaying back and forth as Lyyreth bound passed her with a smallish grin.
"Maybe." He swayed his neck, wiggling his tail. His paw tapped in beat to the faint drums lingering on the air.
"No that's tapping!" She laughed at his display, "You said dancing!" She growled, barrowling past him and nipping at his tail. Infinity danced around him with a playful rumble, bumping her haunches into him when she could. He went to nip at her displays but she pranced away before he could snatch her in his jaws. She sauntered back, swaying her hips until he chased after her.
Infinity pranced forward, laughing as the green dragon slid over to her with a playful growl. When he got close she rubbed her scales right up against his, sighing at the closeness his warmth provided. She felt him shiver and pulled away, tapping his hind leg with her tail.
"Come on and dance." She rumbled, batting his scales with her paw until he complied and started to leap up and down like the humans around her with a rumbling trill. "That's it!" She laughed, nipping at his frilled tail when he passed her. She began to leap across the grass, as he pranced right after her, swaying his haunches best he could.
True she felt silly as their scales met each other with playful snarls, bounding away with laughter moments later. Blood raced through her veins as a fuzziness started to built at the base of her skull. Breaths came faster and faster in time with the pounding of her heart each time he got close and their scales brushed against one another. She didn't even mind when she spotted people gathering in the distance to watch, probably amused of the two cheerful dragon's antics.
Dirt flung from their paws as talons ripped through the grass like soft flesh. Roots and grass were scattered around as the field started to resemble more and more a grass graveyard.
No words were needed as their bodies instinctively yearned to be touched, moments passing but always coming back together with pleased rumbles from her chest. The only smell that mattered in the air was him, the pine scent tugging at her mind every time her snout brushed up against his hide. It was like a spine tingling dose of pleasure that left her mind adrift in a sea of delightful bliss.
Their dance came to an end when she circled him, he moved in close and wrapped his neck around hers. She pressed softly against him, her heart pounding away like stampeding horses in her ears. She nuzzled his cheek, still lost within the powerful sensations coursing through her being. He nuzzled back and she purred, never wanting to be let go. Her eyes closed as her heart started to calm and slow, that was until he started to lick her tenderly at the neck. She shivered softly and pressed against him with a rumbling purr. The thought to tell him to stop never occurred to him as each stroke of his tongue was like a sudden spike of contentedness.
Deep breaths tickled her lungs as they settled down onto the grass, his gently hums in her ears like pure happiness radiating through the air. Nothing else mattered in this moment.
"Like the dance?" He cooed softly, not pulling away from her next nuzzle.
"Hated it." She murmured softly, rolling her eyes and nearly pushing him with her paw.
"So..." He growled playfully. "You're saying you'd do that again?" His scaly ridge rose as they thumped their tails against the grass almost in unison.
She glanced into his eyes, smiling warmly at the fuzzy feeling that had only grown stronger within her. "Yes." She pulled her head back with a laugh. "But only if we do proper dancing next time. In the sky!" She giggled when he blushed and pressed up against her.
"Of course!" His frills flared out as their tails absentmindedly intertwined together.
Her mind suddenly froze, heat rushing to fill her paws as she almost glanced back, but one look into his eyes made her sigh and press against him. She bit her lip, choosing to not say anything as it actually felt rather pleasing to be here watching the sun begin to set on the horizon. Everything felt warm, inviting, the cold nowhere to be seen as his steady breath calmed her nerves.
They gazed out to the mixed red and oranges swirling around lace the dwindling clouds with a faint glow, almost as if lightning were crackling below the darkened surface. She wiggled softly against his scales, practically purring in delight when he nuzzled back at her without a word. "Thanks for looking after me." He said, taking a deep breath and wrapping a wing around her.
She eyed it for a moment, but sighed instead. Choosing to push more against him and enjoy the warmth he was providing her scales. "No problem princess." Laughter unwound from her chest as she pressed a pay playfully against his scales. Her eyes met his, and she felt herself blush as he gazed longfully into hers. How beautiful they looked to be, practically sparkling with the sunlight reflecting in them. She hadn't realized how they looked so appealing until this moment. She swooned as the moments passed like the fluttering of a moth's wings before an open flame.
"Princess?" He gulped, laughing softly. "Why on earth did you call me that?"
"Cause it fits." She giggled, settling her snout onto her paws with a sigh. "If you think hard about you'll understand."
"I'm not sure I follow your reasoning." He rested his snout next to her, pressing his cheek pleasingly up against hers with a low thrum. "Though, I don't think I mind. If I'm a princess what does this make you?"
"A noble knight making sure her princess stays safe." She shrugged, watching as the sun sank below the mountains, and stars started to spring forth from the sky. Like little lights within a sea of darkness they brought life and clarity to the void. There was a soft breeze that bit at their scales but she didn't mind. She pressed up more against Lyyreth, his calm breath soothing her mind, and with a final pleased rumble she fell asleep wrapped up tight within his embrace.
*
Dreams came pleasingly enough, no nightmare to make her squirm through the night like a worm under it's malevolent charms. Instead her thoughts were warm, sweet, soothing things that anyone would not wish to wake up from. She was flying high in the vast cerulean sky, the sun shining bright it's glorious golden rays that practically kissed her scales with warm lips. She offered every scale, spinning and twirling through the air, humming a pleasing tune as she evened out the pleasing blanket of warmth wrapping around her. Spine tingling pleasure coursed through her limbs as she passed through the fluffy clouds. She opened her maw, bellowing the happiest roar she had ever known. Then she got an answer.
Her ears perked, it sounded like another dragon's roar echoing her own. It filled her insides with delightful feelings, no ounce of dread to be found as she curled her head around looking for the source. It sounded familiar that she was certain, though she was having a hard time putting a talon on whom it was supposed to be. Then it roared again, revealing the runed winged dragon with brilliant viridian scales that glowed in the sun as he hugged the edge of a cloud with his mighty wings.
Lyyreth's captivating eyes locked onto hers, closing the distance between them as she entered a heart pounding hover. Pounding not away in fear, but some other feeling that warmed her scales and made her answer his call with a magnificent trill that brought a smile to his muzzle. He cocked his chipped horned head to the side, scaly ridge raised before beaconing her into a descending spiral with a flick of his frilled tail.
With her mind lost within the sea of delightful thoughts she chased after the male, joy radiating from her heart like a star as she nipped at his tail just out of reach. Her breaths came quicker as the roar of the wind screeched past her ears, the once cold air nothing but pleasure and joy of which filled her being. Just as she caught up to him with a rumbling purr, sliding against him and nearly melting when he nuzzled her back, she awoke.
To her surprise she was still wrapped up tightly within his wings, those lime green membrane's blankets snuggling her in against his body. Her eyes fluttered softly as she leaned against the slumbering dragon, her heart still racing away like a stampede of galloping horse creatures.
The morning sun had started to crest just over the hills. It's soft rays sparkled across the morning dew like little diamonds, whispering sweet promises of a new day filled with even more adventure. Soft chirps sounded in the distance, calling out for mates or announcing the morning she knew not which. Though she sighed, at least relieved it was not more of those trumpet birds with their ear piercing shriek of a sound. Her next deep breath of the crisp air brought the scent of male dragon and pine right to her senses. She closed her eyes, nuzzling Lyyreth softly on the cheek as her body trembled, warmth soon spreading from her heart.
Why can't I sleep in? She yawned, tapping the side of Lyyreth's snout with an extended talon. He looked rather cute sleeping. His eyes gently closed shut, his nose wiggling every now and then, his frills trembling softly as he mumbled something in his sleep about flying.
The longer he held her attention the more she didn't want to wake him. She sighed softly with a smile, eyes training every scale that dominated his neck. The dull green that captivated her so and made her wiggle against him. The smile faded though when she saw the spot, a grim reminder of what had happened.
All because of you.
She wrinkled her snout with a nod. She may not want to do it but it needed to be done. Not because they needed to get up, but it meant the sooner the green dragon would be healed. Win win for both of them if you asked her.
"Lyyreth." She rumbled softly, her own voice hardly a sound on the air. She nosed his snout and wiggled her body from his wing. When the morning air struck her scales and bit at her with it's cold embrace she shivered, instantly regretting her actions. She narrowed her eyes as the male grumbled in response, his sleep undisturbed.
Males. She rolled her eyes, a harsh snort filling the air.
"Come on lazy scales!" She shouted with a snarl, pushing the sleeping dragon with all her strength to send him rolling over onto his side. Her ears splayed as he suddenly thrashed his tail, and guilt stabbed at her heart. Though it vanished as he raised his head and sleepily opened and closed his maw.
"You didn't have to shout." He grumbled, his tail twitching slightly as his paws batted at the air. "I would have gotten up."
"Yea right." She poked his black underscales and rose to all fours. With the green wiggling and grumbling she set her eyes from him to that of the horizon and the caravan of mortals that were all packed up and waiting to leave at the village edge. Horses were attached with sturdy looking leathers, pulling carts filled to the brim with too many people eager and excited to get started with the new chapter of their story.
"Infinity..did you want to talk about-" Lyyreth murmured meekly, giving her a searching look.
"Come on!" She ignored him, nudging the green with a wing. "We're going to miss saying goodbye!" She nosed at him, gesturing to the ever brightening sky with a wave of her neck. "Think those wings of yours can fly yet?"
"Um..Okay." Confusion laced his words before Lyyreth spread his wings wide with a swoosh. His lime green membranes positively dazzled, the runes shimmering in the soft morning light. He sighed, offering her a smile. "Lets see how they do shall we?" He gave a test flap, his chest filling with confidence that practically radiated from him. If any pain lurked beneath his scales she didn't know, and she wasn't going to wait around to find out. She lowered herself, wiggling her hind end in preparation for flight.
"Come on slowpoke!" He suddenly shouted, bounding towards the caravan with a flap of his wings.
"Slowpoke?" She laughed with a snarl, following after him with a mighty pounce of her own. They didn't need to travel far though through the sky but she managed to overtake him with a large grin growing on her face. She even puffed out her chest and held her head high, letting the pride in her blood pulse through her unchecked. "Guess we have the answer to that then don't we? It is you that is the slowpoke!" She trilled with laughed, landing onto the grass and still nearly breathless from her sounds.
"We'll it's not like you're a dragoness from a species that is meant to fly faster than others." He cocked his head to the side, his eyes glaring at her. "Oh wait a minutes, yes you are!"
"Sounds like an excuse soft scales." She curled her neck, casting him a smile. "Next time I suppose."
"Yea, next time." He snorted, refolding his wings tightly against his back as they strolled towards the moving caravan of flesh and wood. She bounded towards the front of the line, where Cordenth was strolling away at a casual pace. His scarf was flowing gently in the wind as his neck was curled down towards the front of a tan roofed cart with an amused glint in his sunflower eyes.
"Did we miss anything good?" Cordenth chuckled, casting his eyes away from the two elves and Amatae sitting in the front with hands folded in her lap. The green dragon rose a ridge, his eye tracing first Infinity, then that of his smiling brother. "An enchanting lady dragon slinks away with my brother and chooses now to show up? I would be under the impression that something happened last night." He gave her a low rumble, a lacing of his voice she wasn't sure but she didn't like it whatever he was implying.
"Please." She dismissed him with a wave of her wing. "I had fun with Lyyreth here. All we did was watch the stars, cuddle, and roll around in the grass."
"Only roll around the grass right?" Cordenth suddenly snickered, his eyes going to Lyyreth who was laughing with dark green frills.
Males. She rolled her eyes. "We came back to see the mortals that we helped, but we accidentally slept in!"
"Oh thank goodness." Amatae wiped her head with a sigh. "I thought you simply hated the celebration. Dancing? Adorable."
Infinity wiggled as her scales seemed to soften as her heart laid bare. "It wasn't that adorable." She snorted, trying to hide how her blood warmed. It didn't help when the little elf regarded her with a smile before glancing back to the townsfolk behind them. Her face wrinkled as her eyes went to all of them, her shoulders rising and falling with a heavy sigh. "Though I think this is goodbye right?"
She nodded, "Afraid so. We each have our own paths ahead of us. You have your people, we have our green dragon to tend to."
"I suppose." Amatae turned her heel, throwing her arms around Infinity's snout in a flash. She almost pulled her head back in surprise but held herself back. The elves fingers rubbed her jaw scales and made her eyes close at the attention. "Going to miss you three. I thought if not for the spirit you'd stay with us."
"Probably would have." Cordenth nodded, striding over with a grin. "Though we do have the adventurous spirits in our hearts. I doubt we'd have stayed for long."
"I have to agree." Infinity pulled her head away from the girl's fingers with a groan. Her tail swayed softly as the thought occurred to her that never would forget her. She'd be part of a tale about dragons that wrestled a subjected peoples from an evil lord. She smiled fondly. It sounded like a story Axton would have loved as he read her before slumbering against her scales.
"You stay safe Amatae." Infinity nuzzled at the girl, sighing when she laughed. "And someday we'll come visit you."
"You promise?" Her voice sounded hopeful, expectant. Infinity didn't mind but she wasn't used to it.
"I promise." She laughed, nosing the elf with her snout. They had places to be after all and these people needed to start their journey. "Farewell little one. Stay safe." She echoed the brother's farewells as they all spread their wings wide one by one. Like a sun had been lit in her chest she nearly trilled as the scores of mortals hooped and hollered as they leaped into the sky.
Infinity flew upwards in a spiral on good cheer, her heart strings being pulled to stay. With a shake of her head she righted her mind. She followed Cordenth when he called out to her, rising higher into the sky on their mighty wings. Falling into a glide beside Lyyreth who had Axton's bag within his claws. They entered the warmer currents, sighing softly as it caressed her wings with its softer fingers r as they set their eyes to the vast rolling countryside before them. She roared out her happiness to the very heavens, feeling all warm and tingly as the brother's joined her jubilous cry. Infinity tilted her head, glancing sweetly at Lyyreth and rumbling as he gave her a longing look back. Warmth sprung from her heart, forcing a smile to spring to her snout with the next beat of her wings. She felt the concerns that lingered within her mind get drained away and replaced with paw tingling sensations that made her all bubbly and giddy. When she finally tore herself from his kind eyes she warbled her content to the wind.

Thanks for following along with this tale! If you liked the reading don't forget to fav and vote on it. If you feel like commenting to let me know I'm not typing away into a void let me know! Takes only a moment to make my day!
On other news. Infinity's creator has lost interest in playing her any longer in our current roleplay. (Not here) So she gifted her to me. Don't worry I have this entire story worth of content. (Although I find myself going off from the roleplay to fore-shadow things that have changed since then.)
