#3 of Choose your own

We shall see whether those choices will serve you well, but you must work together, this is not a democracy.

With a casual yawn you begin to get dressed, a light tunic and trousers the basics, and both in dark colours. You have learnt from many cave trips dark colours in a dark cave go well, perfect for stealth. You open your small pack and begin to put some stuff in, torches, and with that some extra oil and matches, just in case things go on a little longer than expected.

You also choose to buckle on your magical chainmail rather than take the shield, moving faster a more desirable ability in a cave. Then the essentials, you pack a small first aid kit and also a few days worth of dry rations, just in case. Once this is all done, you see a glint in the corner, your ring of guidance.

You pause as you look at it.

It's an odd thing, this ring. A number of times it has gotten you out of scraps and traps, but there's something, mischievious about it, and it's not something you particular fancy about a supposedly inanimate object. But despite your best thoughts to leave it behind, you put it on your middle finger and instantly feel it's warmth on your knuckle.

You do one last final check around the room to make sure you aren't forgetting anything, and then at 8:31am, judging by the innkeeper's grandfather clock, you walk out of the inn and into the main street.

The weather is particularly good, not a cloud in the sky and now a mild breeze to keep you cool. As you venture down the street you see several elves watching you, obviously seeing you as the adventurer you are, and you smile and give a mock salute.

You leave the town via the north gate, once you get past the guards at said gate, and you notice how they react when you tell them you're going up to the cave. There are a lot of shifty glances, but the guard captain's expression barely changes, and he just looks up and says.

"Enjoy yourself, my friend." but it is not a happy saying, more like one who knows for absolute certain you will not be coming back into his life.

Huh, so much for public spirit. You bid a cheery goodbye, and head up the rocky hill. It is not particularly steep, and you make good progress towards the cave, which is only a speck from this distance.

It takes a good hour to get up to the cave, but finally you stand at the entrance, and you stand at the entrance to a very dark cave that seems to extend very deeply into the darkness. You casually whistle as you light your first torch, and then turn and walk into the blackness.

It's not a very wide cave, but it does go on for some distance. It's very quiet, and you almost long for some cave dwelling creature to attack you, but nothing happens for a good ten minutes, until you come to a fork in the passage, a turn to the left or the right.

Left?

or Right?

and roll a D6 dice for me, just for amusement purposes.
