Hey! It's ya boy Kavie here, and this is a story about my life (kinda).
So far every job I've had has been in retail, and I've had a lot of interesting experiences throughout the years. I've also met some really rad people, and with their permission, I'm compiling a story of some of the fun-fun times we've all had together.
The first job I ever had was pushing carts at Target_(can I mention real names here w/o getting slapped with a copyright lawsuit?? We'll see.)_ and that was horrible. At the time, I was happy to be working, but pushing carts also meant hourly bathroom checks and cleaning shit off toilets (literally, at times. People are disgusting!) among other things. Cart Attendants are like the 'store bitch' for Target... We were cross-trained to do almost everything, and when one person fell behind, they called us CA's to pick up the slack.
The second job I had - and where the majority of this story will take place - was also a job at Target (at a different store, thank God!), but as a phone salesman for Target Mobile. This can be a little confusing, because while I worked inside a Target store, I wasn't employed by Target. TL;DR - I was an outsourced worker, which meant I didn't answer to the Target managers, even though I worked inside their store. More will be explained on this later! (x)
My time at Target Mobile (often just shortened to 'Mobile') was a bundle of excitement and stress, craziness and awesome. I was able to talk and meet a lot more folks at Mobile, and by far had the most fun I've had at a job. Most days were hella chill, and I was able to help a lot of cool people (my fondest memory was helping a visually impaired lady set up Siri on her iPhone, so she could use the phone even with her condition) which felt great.
Everything wasn't all great though, as there was a lot of misconception about our job as a Mobile Rep. This lead to some not-so-nice moments. Since we sold phones from various providers (Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T) many thought that we worked for those guys, instead of an independent outsourcing company. As such, when someone had shitty service with the aforementioned providers, they'd come straight to us and holler their brains out, thinking we could do something.
I've since left Mobile and am now working at FedEx, but for now... I think the story will stay revolving around my time at Mobile. Maybe things will progress and I will get to the point where Kavik gets his new (much better) job, but for now, Mobile has had the best experiences that I think are best to share.
