Boy Bands and Giant Rats
#2 of Letters from Alola
Dear Reiji,
Sorry it's been so long since my last letter. I know it's only been a week, but it's been crazy around here! I met a boy named Hau and he seems more preoccupied with getting food in his mouth than anything. Still, he's a good trainer.
What's strangest for me to get used to though is that no one here seems to know who I am. They all think I'm a new trainer. Even the local professer, who traveled in Kanto, doesn't recognize me. I guess I've fallen into obscurity since I settled down. I kinda like being the 'new kid' again.
Let's see though... I participated in a festival that honors the pokemon diety that saved me. It seemed to enjoy it, though I didn't see it anywhere. Then for a while it seemed like I was going to be a Bird Pokemon trainer. There's so many different kinds, and this is only the first of four islands!
My new friends, as of this letter, are Cloud(a Pikipek that evolved into a Trumbeak), Tremor(a Diglett. They have hair here!), and Xipil(a Growlithe. I couldn't resist having one Fire Pokemon, and he's so playful he reminded me of when Pyre was a puppy). Bipin evolved too. He's a Dartrix now.
As far as I can tell there aren't any Gyms around here either. There are this things called Trials where you have to beat a specific kind of challenge and some really, really BIG pokemon! I had to battle a Raticate bigger than I am! It was tough, but we handled it.
Sadly it's not all fun and games here. What I can only assume is a gang made up of boy band rapper wannabes is causing trouble all over the region. Luckily they are as bad at causing trouble as they are at making rap lyrics!
As always, you guys have my love. I sent a bunch of Alola's berries and beans and some recipes for them too. There's also sunglasses for Junior. I know he'll look super cute and cool in them.
