Adair's new start- friendly reunion, and a new plan.
#2 of Adair's new start
I sigh softly as I held my jacket loosely. It was cold tonight, but not anything unbearable. I had walked from home with two small bags, one with clothes, and the other with things that I just couldn't leave behind. Drahcir had walk beside me as we both went to the bus stop where I awaited my best friend. It was only quarter to nine, so I wasn't surprised when I saw he wasn't there yet. Drahcir took the lead for a bit to plop himself onto the chair happily as I did the same after a moment of playing catch up.
"So where is your friend Sky at?" Drahcir asked yawning slightly as he looked up to me. He already knew Sky wouldn't be here for another few minutes. It was his attempt to just start a small conversation for old time sake I believed.
"You know, making sure he did not forget anything at home like he has a tendency to do when he is in a rush. Plus sneaking by his folks is another hazard to, so he probably made some excuse to be left alone in his room to sneak out and leave his note if any." I said a tad plainly just for talking sake. "So how has it been, living by yourself for around two or so years?" I asked rather curiously wanting to know more details.
"I told you already Adi... Did you really forget that quickly?" He asked jokingly. He was teasing me like all siblings do every now and then, but he had two whole years worth to make up on, and now I gave him the perfect excuse to do so.
"Oh yeah, I did forget about that." I said remembering he had recited the story at our home. "I think that the fight might have knocked a few brain cells out or something." I said laughing while I rubbed the back of my head shyly.
"It had to have done more than that." He said getting up and placed me into a playful choke hold. It made me squirm as I tried to break free but to no avail. Drahcir was just too strong and well trained for me even to phantom the idea of competing with him. Drahcir eventually let me go, knowing that he had bested me before even starting. Sky had showed up just a few moments later and looked at the clock. It was just nine pm, with that Sky sighed contently.
"Sorry about being late, got caught up in trying to sneak out." He said dropping two bags on the floor and sat down with a light backpack on his back still.
"Wow, you must have carried all of your room in those bags you got there. You sure you didn't leave anything important behind while packing?" I said a bit concerned but more as a joke than anything else. Sky looked up and tapped his chin thinking for a moment.
"No, that is everything I need. Books, clothes, games, toothbrush, and my collection of beakers" He said happily as he lightly kicked the largest bag which made the glass content chime and clang against each other. Hearing the sound of the sheer amount made me wonder how he managed to get it all the way here without making it sound before. An awkward silence then prevailed for a couple of minutes with none of us knowing what exactly what to talk about.
"So how long do you think you two will be staying at your brother's place Sky?" Drahcir asked breaking the silence.
"Well, we are pretty much going to stay at my brother's place till we are allowed to stay in a dorm or something while in school, which can take a while." Sky said sitting on the bench as we waited. We all noticed the bus was running late tonight, which was unusual but not unheard of. We continued to wait in silence until the bus came a few minute later. We all boarded and took a seat near the front with out stuff next to us since no one else was on. The bus ride was dull with no one talking, but at least there was some good music. It was some kind of symphonic rock or metal. I didn't really pay all too much attention to it. The bus ride continued on its preset route with nothing happening around. I stared out the half opened window looking outside to see the large buildings colored darkly by the night.
I continued to idly stare back and forth between Sky, Drahcir, outside, and the driver, who was a chubby looking otter, cream and tan fur. He was wearing some standard issue clothing, light blue shirt, dark blue pants and black shoes, something that was seen commonly in old time movies.
Time seemed to zoom past as we arrived at our destination in about 20 minutes or so. We all gathered our things and stepped out of the bus and onto the cold night street. I donned my bags with my brother taking one himself and looked around the eerie area. For some reason at night, the city turns into a whole new place. Whether it be good or bad I did not intend to find out.
"Ok, follow me." Sky said in a cheerful tone as he picked up his bags and led the way to his brother's place. Both Drahcir and I began to follow him through the dark streets of the city. We weaved through the dark corridors swiftly, making ground at a moderate pace with the dim lights of the street corners illuminating the area around it as we made our way.
Sky had stopped at a rather large yet humble building. The colour of it was hard to make out in the dark tint of night that seemed to give it a violet hue with dark green trim. I watched him knock on the door a few time as I stood back next to Drahc. We waited for around ten minutes at the door with no answer as Sky began to knock harder on the door this time. I lowered my ears a bit since the noise seemed loud enough to wake up the whole neighborhood. I had just let out a small sigh when I heard the locks being turned and the squeaks of the hinges as the door opened.
A pair of blue eyes looked through the crack of the door with a sleepy disposition in them. They scanned over the comers over carefully until the fell on sky. The door the noisily opened as a rather tall weasel stepped out with only a pair blue short. His fur was a dark purple while having brown under fur and rather long hair. He came over and gave Sky a hug and then looked at us with a smile.
"Hey there Sky, Adi... And Drahcir long time no see. Where have you been, under a rock?" He asked as he invited us into his humble abode. He waited for us to enter and locked the door hurriedly when we entered.
The house was rather nice on the inside, carpeted floor, a cabinet and mirror to the side in the corridor housing a few fancy glasses and sculptures with a family portrait to the opposite side. He guided us in more and showed us the kitchen to the right with had nice white tiles and wooden counter top. There was a shiny fridge kept there and a clean stove. He guided us through the house more and more before finally showing us where our rooms were.
"Well here you guys go, the guest room on the second floor." He said rather proudly of himself. They were rather plain with a chest of drawers, a cabinet with mirror and a double sized bed with floral sheets and blankets.
"Wow Terr, you really got busy last time I was here." Sky said looking over the place, obviously he was impressed with how the plain rooms looked, and probably for good reason since his brother used to be a heavy drug addict in the past.
"well yeah, doing my best in chilling out and stuff. Well get to bed you two, it's kinda late now. Besides you gonna have to get up realy in the morning so I can take you two to get enrolled." Terr said with a slight groan. He didn't really like the idea of playing a parent, but was willing to for his younger brother and best friend since they were the closest he got to true family. So he thought.
"We will Terr, but the same goes for you." Sky said with a silent chuckle hoping that his brother would behave. "Well goodnight bro, see you in the morning." He said giving Terr a quick hug before dragging his luggage into his room that was there.
I wave at Sky as he went into his room and locked the door, and soon after carried my stuff into the guest room that Terr had given me. I waved at Terr as he left about his own business, closing the door soon after and flipping the lock over for privacy. I just threw myself onto the soft bed and placed my bags on the side off of it. I began to disrobe and make myself comfortable, taking of my jacket and shirt without much effort, sighing as the cool air touched my fur. I soon began to unbutton my pants and slide them off, and then went ahead and did the same with my boxers. After I completely disrobed I laid lithe body on the bed and let my hands roam over it. I wasn't the best of builds when it came to my body. I didn't have much muscle tone or anything. The fact was that I could have passed off as a girl with the way I looked. In fact a few times I had been mistaken as a girl, which was really embarrassing now that I think about it.
With a soft sigh I pulled my hands back to myself before they went to my sheath. I didn't want to paw off just yet; it wasn't the time to be thinking about my own self pleasure. I made one last look around the room and made sure that the windows were closed before turning on the fan and falling asleep in only my birth fur.
"Well Terr, I am glad to see you chilled out since the last time I saw you. You seem to have a good life now, well better than the last life you had." Drahcir said as he looked over his best friend. Terr seemed to had gained some meat on his bone and actually looked decently built now.
"heh you don't look so bad yourself Drahc.. The last time I saw you, you were... hmm you know, it doesn't look like you changed all too much really. Just you look more willful now, like you have some kind of a better purpose than before." Terr said as he hugged his long time friend. "So what are you gonna do now since you back?"
Drahcir smiled softly, to him it was a slight pain since he hadn't smiled in such a long time. "Well my first order, is to look for a job, second order to take care of my brother. What about yourself?"
"Not much different, except I already have a job. I hire fighters for entertainment, but I only hire those worthy to compete." Terr said with a somewhat proud look in his eyes.
"Well then... how about we talk about some business then? One that can earn us a lot for ourselves and our brothers, if you are interested." Drahcir said happily. He knew that this was the best opportunity for them to earn some big cash with little effort.
"Well ok then. But do you really think you can challenge the big league Drahc? I have seen you fight others before, but I am not sure you can handle this." Terr said with a small frown, worrying about his friend's mental stability now. Which was a surprise since Drahc was his own voice of reasoning in the past.
"I am sure, just get me a spot in any fight and I will show you what my disappearance has done for me" His voice has a certain assurance in it. There was something there that Terr couldn't put his finger on, but he would have to make due for now.
"Ok bud, I will do what I can. But let us head to bed now. You can share my room if you want to, the bed is big enough for two, and also my girlfriend is out of town for a while." He said offering what he could.
"No thanks, I will just take the couch..." Drahcir said plainly and went to the living room and laid across on it. Terr couldn't help but smile at that. Not much has changed at all... still shy as always when it came to sleeping in others room. It is not like he had anything to hide in front of him.
